Been here a few times - its a good venue for smaller close up and intimate shows. The seats are smaller and packed shoulder to shoulder for popular shows but overall still a nice venue. Location-wise in the heart of downtown with plenty of places to walk around for pre/post show drinks and eats. And next door is a very cute coffee shop with delicious coffee too. I'm not much of a "show goer" so it's really hard to compare the Moore to many other venues (i've only been to about 6 different venues) but this one is definitely the smaller of the bunches and it can get somewhat stuffy. I think Moore is better for smaller intimate shows like live performances of music of close up magic, loved the Brian McKnight show here and Shin Lim and even Ali Wong but if it's a musical, i'd recommend else where. read more

Bringing two older parents with mobility issues I thought our night might have to end at the vestibule unfortunately but not on Nate's watch! Was going to the Moore once a week in the 90s. It was a dive where the best bands of the day played. I couldnt remember the last time I went to the Moore and was smiling with memories and awe of the renovations. Went to see SilverSun Pickups February 15 2024. The seating is steep so you are never far from the stage, the bathrooms still old but functioning fine, service at the door, ushering and bar all very competant and most importantly stage/lights/sound were great. read more

Last night we seen Blue October at the Moore and this was my first time there. Although a bit dated it is a good venue, the acoustics was great as it was nice and loud without being deafening the seats were comfortably but we stood most of the night cause you know the cascading effect, one person 20 rows down stand up and half the audience had to do the same to see the bloody show. I went here tonight to see Laverne Cox speak. Laverne was phenomenal, but the review is about the venue. Overall, not my favorite venue and I had an okay experience. First of all, a lot of the staff were rude to us and not kind at all. I did not appreciate that at all. I know you may hate your job, but atleast look like you care. The drinks were a bit pricey. I paid 3$ for a half a glass of wine. I feel like at that rate I could have just brought my own bottle. It was also extremely hot in the venue with no air conditioning, etc. The one thing I will say that was positive were the ushers. They were very kind and showed us where to sit. Also, the acoustics were great and I could hear well. Overall, it was a great event and I had a good time. I probably will give the Moore a second chance! read more

I came for Chelsea Handler and, while the theatre is very pretty and historic, there were a lot of negatives. The biggest negative is the stifling heat in the balcony. Seriously, it was HOT. It is also not very accessible, as it is an old building. We had general admission seating in the highest balcony, and thankfully got there early because it filled up fast. The stairs up to the balcony are a serious climb, and I didn't see any elevators, so it is definitely not for people with limited mobility or basically anyone who cannot climb several flights of steep stairs. Thankfully, though, there is a bathroom up there. I'm not really sure how ADA-friendly this theatre is. Their website says there is a ramp to row F of the first balcony, but I still think it would be difficult for people with mobility challenges to navigate that theatre. The downside of old buildings like this. The bar had a wide variety of options, but the bartender was VERY rude to me, which wasn't much fun after waiting in a 20 minute line. A lot of reviewers mentioned sound issues; because the show we went to was more of a talk show, I didn't really notice any problems. Although views in balconies are never great, this one was actually decent - we were very high up but I could see everything easily. I also appreciate the security they have; you had to go through metal detectors, which in 2019 is a welcomed process that helps promote safety. However, the WORST part was the overwhelming, stifling heat in the balcony. It was so unbearably hot that we actually had to leave in the middle of the show, which was unfortunate. If you have any special needs, especially in terms of mobility, I would highly recommend calling them to see if they can even accommodate you before purchasing tickets. I am glad I came to the Moore Theatre, and it is always important to support non-profit arts organizations, but I probably wouldn't come back unless it was during a cooler month and it was a show I REALLY wanted to see. read more

I've been going to shows at this place since the salad days of the "Seattle Scene," because I'm an old dork and all, and yeah it's a venerable old venue that gets great bands and has a lovely domed ceiling and all, but for the love of peace, the sound just disappoints again and again. Sound issues tend to just be the house sound being so loud that it sounds like a freight train getting sucked into a tornado while a jet is flying directly overhead. Sound guy: seriously, the default should not be "I HAVE A GREAT GODDAMNED IDEA!!!! I'LL TURN THE HOUSE SOUND UP SO GODDAMNED LOUD THAT NONE OF THESE LOSERS WILL BE ABLE TO HEAR TOMORROW AND THEY'LL ALL BE WALKING AROUND SAYING 'WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR TODAY BECAUSE I WAS AT A SHOW AT THE GODDAMNED MOORE THEATRE LAST NIGHT!!!!'" Just to mix it up a little, though, sometimes there are pealing shrieks of feedback, or other times there are guitar solos that presumably some part of the venue can hear, but definitely not the part where I am. Sighhhhhh. We tend to gravitate to the balcony (because we recently got the club membership; before it was just because we either bought our tickets later than most or because we are not the "show up early" types for a general admission show), and maybe that's the problem. Maybe the balcony is doomed to bad sound. I'll keep going to shows here because they genuinely do get some of the best indie bands coming through town...it's just a bummer that you get forced to decide whether to skip a tour of a band you love because you don't think the sound will be worth a damn. I love the Moore. I've played there several times and have seen a lot of shows there. It's a cute little, historical theater with a lot of quirky features. I'm not very tall and need to duck down to use one of the bathrooms. The place is old, this means there's no HVAC system, which means no Air Conditioning. In the Spring/Summer months, that place is like an over. Being in the 2nd and 3rd balcony section gets really hot. If you can get floor or first balcony seats, highly recommend. You'll definitely want to consider dressing in something in layers. The acoustics here are pretty good. I've never had a bad time here. read more

We recently had the pleasure of seeing Andrew McMahon at the Moore theater, and we definitely left excited for a future opportunity to come back. It's located right downtown, with a couple of parking lotsLocated a block or two away. Upon entering, you're ushered into a very nice lobby. They have a concession stand where you can purchase beer, wine, pop the end snacks. Similar to other theaters, they have the option of buying a reusable cup that you can bring back. The theater is definitely on the vintage side, but even for a big dude the seats were adequate for my badunk! The seats are pseudo-comfortable, but definitely not bad. Not a ton of room in between Isles, so it's more like sitting in coach than first class. The aisles down the sides were a little on the steep side, so it pays to get there on time while the lights are still on. The ushers help you to your seat if you arrive fashionably late, but you still need to be careful. There's upstairs and main floor seating, and a couple different places upstairs and downstairs where restrooms are available. Always important to know where they are! All in all, this is a cool venue, located right downtown and with some solid acoustics! We'll be back. read more

Theatre itself is beautiful - I had no problems with visibility or acoustics during a comedy show and the staff was efficient. However if you're over 6 ft tall, make sure to use the bathroom beforehand because you will not be able to stand up straight in there. I am not joking lol. Some of the worst bathrooms I've ever used. I came to the Moore Theatre for a concert on a Tuesday night. Although the band was great, the sound quality was not. The speakers were faced toward the middle, so if you are on the outer edges, you wont be able to hear clearly. Also, half of the main room was covered under the balcony seating, which I suspect interfered with the sound as well. So word of advice, you will want to pay extra to get a middle section seat when purchasing tickets for a concert. Also, a word of caution, the pathway connecting the seating area and walkway is poorly constructed and oddly slanted. I was sitting at the end of the row and was grabbed on the arm throughout the night as people passed by. I realized that the oddly slanted floors caused people to slip, so they would them grab the closest thing to them, (ME), to regain their balance. You do NOT want to be seated at the end of the row... unless you like being touched by strangers... Overall, I have to admit that the place is beautiful and the sound quality is probably good IF you are sitting in the middle section. The lines to the ladies room moved quickly and the bar downstairs had a great nighttime vibe. read more

Restrooms are few and bar is small but right were you need it. I think there are tables downstairs :) It is a small theater. It has been under remodeling for about a long time. The staff at the Moore Theater did not know how to handle the Meet and Greet. First we waited in line outside with water dripping from the roof on a very chilly day. Then, we waited in several more lines. The event was delayed multiple times. Finally, we had to line up to go to the dark basement for the Meet and Greet. We were rushed because it had been delayed so many times. I had previously attended 2 Meet and Greets for this artist, and they all went smoothly. Once the Meet and Greet was over, we had to stand in line and wait about an hour to get into the theater. It was like no one knew how to conduct this event. I had seats in row A, which looked like the first row, and I understood from the seating map that there would be room for handicap seating in front of me. I had the most expensive tickets, but in front of me was a row with 8 seats. Most of those were filled after the event started, and there were no handicapped people. I don't understand why my seats weren't actually in the front row of assigned seats. The theater was very outdated. Although the concert was excellent, the evening was not a good experience. read more

What can you expect from a small theater in Seattle? I am just giving an honest review of the theater. I was here for The Impractical Jokers Show back in September 2015, and I purchased the tickets online. Because the show is in downtown Seattle, please do not whine if you want to make your lives easier by purchasing additional tickets(s) for parking. The walking distance from the parking garage to the theater is about 2 blocks. For those who have never been to the theater, please take notes: If you don't want crappy seats, please arrive as early as you can as all the seats are open-seating. The chairs can be hard and uncomfortable, so you can't just move around easily. Plus, they are very close together, so you better pray that your neighbors will be kind to give you your own personal space. Finally, ladies........please avoid wearing high heels at the theater because I learned my lesson the hard way. The stairs at this theater are too steep, so you will be better off wearing flats or tennis shoes. No, it is not sexy to walk as if you have a hard time walking. read more

This is a decent venue considering it's the oldest still-working theater in Seattle. It first opened its doors in 1907. With that in mind, the seats are small. I'm 5'6" and it felt quite cramped especially with my jacket and purse with me. Despite that, it's overall a great venue with gorgeous architecture. The theater doesn't have it's own parking lot. However, parking wasn't an issue since we purchased parking tickets along with our show in advance. The parking lot is located about a block away at the Third & Stewart Parking Garage. Public parking is on the 3rd floor and above. We came to the theater to watch "Kidd Pivot and Electric Company Theatre - Betroffenheit," which is a beautiful interpretive dance theater performance touching on themes of loss, trauma, addiction, and recovery. We sat on the Balcony (Right), Row J - Seats 1 and 2. We were close to the aisle. We had no issues with viewing the stage. Their staff is very friendly and quite helpful. The bathrooms are plentiful and clean. There is a bar on the main level that sells beer, wine, whiskey, basic snacks, and coffee. Downstairs is a dimly lit full bar. That's where we sat and relaxed before the start of the show. All alcoholic beverages are served in a plastic sippy cup with a lid you can slide open and close. I found it highly amusing! My other half had an IPA. Call me a snob but I couldn't bring myself to drink wine out of those cups. read more

Attended John Hiatt show 3/17. This is a wonderful classic ~ 2000 seat old theatre, has beautiful architecture inside. Friendly helpful staff. Concessions are high as expected, not as outrageous as others tho. Acoustics were really good. Seats decently inclined so you can see over most of that dudes HUGE head. Web site - helpful directions, but needs updating for prepaid parking process (-1 star) Seats in balcony OMG if you're 5'11" or taller you will be JAMMED into the seat in front of you. Excruciatingly painful!!! (-2 star). I noted row G of 1st balcony has more legroom. Apparently the main floor has more legroom according to website, this info isn't shown on ticket purchasing interface. Appreciated that bar drinks had to be in non-spill reuseable cups. Won't come back until I get my femurs shortened. read more

I'm posting this review rather late because I joined Yelp long after I visited this place, jus' so ya kno'. I went here during a concert for Dreams Come True back in October 2002 during their U.S. Tour for their album Monkey Girl Odyssey. It's a popular Japanese group with Miwa Yoshida and Masato -forgot his last name-. Well, from what I can remember during my visit back then ('can't believe it was freaking almost 6 years ago...), I really enjoyed it. Actually, it was both interesting and strange---why?---don't know. Maybe it's 'cuz it's my only concert ever, atleast thus far. Or perhaps it was because of the japanese that made up the majority of the crowd. Not quite culture shock, if I may exaggerate a bit, but a unique experience. I loved it, and wish she would come back again soon---as she supposedly claimed. Now, as far as the actual "venue" (lol), the Moore Theater definitely wasn't a Paramount or a Benaroya, unfortunately, I would'nt even rank it up there anywhere near them, either... which kind of really sucked considering the band visiting and, at the time, they were to Japan, what singers like Christina Aguilera are to us here in the states---basically VERY popular and beautiful voice. Plus, the place only sold-out---jeez! I think the Bush administration---haha just kidding---the S-e-a-t-t-l-e C-i-t-y C-o-u-n-c-i-l should put a Moore Theater renovation/maintenance budget/fund/thing in high priority. read more

What a venue. From the outside, The Moore looks a bit rundown. When you enter, it feels like you have entered a time warp. It surely looks antiquated. I visited The Moore last night for a Keane concert! I can't really describe this theatre very well, it seems like it is many things. Strange, weird, old, crooked, odd, inconsistent, Gothic, classic, fake, chop sueyish. Well those a few of the adjectives I have. Unlike The Paramount which seems very classical and well put together, The Moore looks like a hodgepodge theatre. Some of architectural elements were unusual. Despite the look, I kind of enjoy the odds and ends of this venue. The stage is very traditional and the balcony which is where I sat had a good view of it. The seats were a bit uncomfortable and the spacing between rows was tight, but at least they did not feel packed in. Oh and yeah, the seats don't flip back as mentioned by Jeanny M. The sound was not the best. There was sort of a echo during Lights's (opening act) set. Thus, lyrics were hard to discern. Though this happens whenever I see a new act, so I am not faulting The Moore on this. Following Lights was Keane who put on a great show. The lighting used was excellent and accentuated the performances. I have to give a plus to this as this made each song played better. While The Moore is not perfect, there is a definite beauty that this theatre has that is very unique to any that I have visited. I hope to see more concerts here, especially if the quality of the concerts are as good as this one. read more

This theater has steep sloped ramps you have to walk up to get to the balcony seats. I have foot/Achilles issues, so this was a nightmare. And then to get up to your seats, you have to climb steep stairs with no handrail, which is just generally unsafe. Also, the seats were unevenly wide for some reason? A weird ancient theater that probably doesn't need to exist. read more

We had an excellent time at the Moore theater watching Seattle Rock Orchestra perform Led Zeppelin. It's an old theater with a lot of charm. Don't expect modern facilities. We sat up in the balcony and I honestly don't think there's a bad seat in the entire place. I thought I got terrible tickets and was so pleasantly surprised - they were perfect. They have drinks and even let you take them into the theater if you purchase a to go cup that you can reuse next time. I didn't get to fully check it out, but I also stumbled upon a "secret" bar in the basement when looking for the bathroom. Next time I'll actually plan time to go in! read more

Headline: Theater with character doing concerts, but needs a little refresh I went to the Moore Theater to see Echo & The Bunnymen. The concert was great and the acoustics of the place were amazing. Where it really falls down is in two places - firstly (and no fault of the place), when you have two inconsiderate people directly in front of you obscuring your view - there are very very few places where this won't be an issue. The second is in the facilities itself. Dated is the word that comes to mind. The seats look and feel like they come out of a high school auditorium. They are not staggered (which contributes to the first problem I mentioned), and the place needs a coat of paint! We came to see the Interactive Introverts show here during August for a matinee time. There is a bag size limit but they don't really care as long as you open it for checking. Don't bring in outside food or water. But you can usually buy drinks there. There's a main floor and two balconies. You can see the stage from seat in the house. But the top second balcony gets so hot and the seats are small. There's bathrooms on the second and first floor. However the top bathrooms are single use each so there are loooong lines. The theater isn't really accessible so make sure to contact them if you have special needs. But we had a good time and it's a 5 minute walk from the light rail. For the oldest theater it's not bad plus they're doing construction on the outside so maybe they're improving everything. read more

I love the older theaters in Seattle and this is no exception. I would not recommend sitting on the top level as it's a windy staircase to get up there and very steep once you're in the seating section. The middle level offers a nice view and isn't steep. We went to a show where each section that you purchased was open seating which I felt was odd. The venue itself I believe only holds around 1800 people. There is a bar downstairs under the lobby that is the quickest for service. Not a bad spot! read more

Went here for the Ray LaMontagne concert. I got tickets for the second balcony. When I purchased my tickets it said I was seated in a specific row, but when they were sent to me it said GA. We showed up at 7, when doors opened and the line wasn't very long. Got seats three rows away from the front of the balcony. It is tight seating, not much leg room. There are about four flights of stairs to the second balcony, not handicap accessible. We paid over $100 each for the seats, I do not think it was worth it for the view. Might consider paying more to get closer (depends how bad you want to see the artist) or just find a different venue. The theater was clean, friendly staff. Very pretty inside. Ray LaMontagne played acoustic music, the theater was very quiet so it was easy to hear from the second balcony. They offered snacks and drinks for sale. Expect to pay $10 or more for alcohol. I think our water was $5. I order to take alcohol into the theater you have to pay an extra $3 for the cup. If you already have one you can bring it. The heating/cooling wasn't an issue for me. I went in November, temperature was just right and I dressed in layers because of reviews that said it was hot. My sister had a light jack on and wasn't hot or too cold. I cannot speak for parking as we took an Uber here. read more

Your experience will depend on the seats you purchase. Pay for the good seats if you can. Recently sat in the "nose bleed" balcony section which was awful! The stares are so steep and there is no railing. You literally feel like you are going up and down a ladder. It is unbelievably hot and stuff up there (on a summer night) with no circulation. Just stifling and smelly. And there seems to be a lack of clarity on the ability to bring in the bottles of water they sell at the bar. Also, the top balcony is "first come first served" which creates a lot of chaos especially once the lights go down. The view looking down is obstructed by the top curtain of the stage and for some seats also obstructed by poles. Also, we were required to put our phones in locked pouches, furnished by the theater, that you keep with you until the show was over. The process did not hold up lines both coming in and leaving, but was the first request I've ever had to do that and some folks may not like it. read more

Bottom line, this place hires jerks to walk the floor. I've never been so rudely treated at a venue in all my life. Our EXPENSIVE front row seats were the most uncomfortable wooden folding chairs, while the cheaper seats behind us were decently cushioned. We couldn't believe that this row of crappy chairs that looked like they were bought at a yard sale in the 1940's were actually our seats... so we asked an usher (who gave off a lot of "off-duty bitterly divorced cop" vibes) if this was our row. We were treated like idiot children who didn't know how our ABC's or how to count. And then we were abruptly and rudely told that there was to be no recording of the show (no duh, Sherlock... what show ever lets you do that?). We were in our seats for only a few moments when ANOTHER usher came all the way from the back to tell us to make sure that we sip our overpriced drinks and quickly replace our masks. Though we never saw this person (or ANY usher) give the same treatment to any other patrons INCLUDING the loud, obnoxious and wildly drunk blonde woman sitting right next to us who had her mask on her chin the entire night. My wish for her to be masked was not only to be in compliance with the numerous signs posted all over the venue, but also to muffle her annoying cackling that happened way too often and not even at the punchlines of the comedians we were seeing. I'm not saying that these interactions were racially or socially motivated, but my wife is African American and I'm littered in forearm tattoos... I guess we just "looked like trouble"... yeah, in our $150 dollar a piece front row seats and $40 pair of crappy drinks. I guess no matter how well off you may be, you'll still get treated like second class citizens at the Moore. I'll never see another show there again and I urge you to do the same. This double standard, profiling behavior has no place in "oh so woke" Seattle. And I hope no decent acts book shows there either. read more

Since I like historic buildings, I like The Moore's vibe (as with the other Seattle Theatre Group venues). It's smaller than some of the other theatres, yet it feels very high, especially when you're sitting in the balcony area. I find that no matter where you're sitting - it's easy to see the main stage; just bring glasses if you're at the highest section because you really feel very high up! Located in Belltown, Moore Theatre is accessible to public transit. If taking the bus here, you can get off the Westlake Center station and it's a quick five to 10 minute walk. There are also a ton of places to eat and drink nearby, making pre-funking doable. Plus, there are several private parking lots around the area that's a short walk to here. Pre-funking is especially recommended because drinks are expensive here. Although you can take a drink to your seat, you must buy the cup with the lid for an additional three bucks, making your drink even more expensive. For a well drink, it's eight bucks so if you want a premium liquor with a to-go cup, then you're looking into double-digits for a cocktail. They also sell some small snack items, like candy. In addition to the bar on the main floor - there is a lower bar by the men's restroom. But it's soooo hot down there! It feels like you're in a room with a furnace, so imagine being there with a mob of people, waiting to order. Overall, I enjoy coming to The Moore for shows and don't mind the smaller space - just as long as I can get a seat on the lower level. read more

Went to see Tom Segura (comedy show) at the Moore Theater. I purchased GA tickets (2nd balcony) for a group of 4. 1. When I received my e-tickets they indicated 2nd Balcony, 2nd section, seats 1-4. To our surprise, once we made it to the second balcony - it is open seating. We were lucky to have found seats together; had I known we would have had asses in seats much sooner. 2. There did not seem to be any speakers in the back whatsoever. So, once the crowd was laughing it was impossible to hear the next joke. I was straining to hear the entire performance. 3. It is hot as Hades up there. Zero air flow. Good thing it was only May and not a show in the middle of Summer. I will not return to this venue. If it doesn't work for a comedy show I can't imagine it would be good for anything else either. read more

I've been to a number of performances here and basically, if you're seated toward the front of the orchestra, you'll enjoy - and see - the show (obviously, this assumes you're at a good performance to start with). Unfortunately, if you're seated toward the back, the viewing is a bit more challenging, as the auditorium seats aren't angled up quite enough if you've got anyone moderately tall ahead of you. The venue is also showing its age, and could use a bit of spiffy up. The interior always feels a bit claustrophobic, and a bit dingy. At a recent performance (Iliza Schlesinger), I was terribly disappointed that the theater didn't exercise any controls on people entering and leaving during the show. There was a near constant parade of people up and down the aisle from the beginning to the end, and people standing up to let them into seats. This is a great spot to catch whatever show that you might be watching the balconies are really cool to look at and the seating is good and the bars were nice . Parking lot right behind the place (not theirs) but convenient. read more
