My exhaust system was in a sorry state. Rusted out muffler and a gaping hole in the exhaust line. I arrived for my morning appointment a little early and found that Dave was indeed the straight-forward man described here. We got my car up on the rack. He gave me a reasonable quote and got to work. He seems brash, almost careless, until you realize that he just makes the work look effortless because he's been doing it day-in, day-out since the '80's. He's fast, and he's enjoyable company if you're open to conversation and don't mind a frank opinion or two. We had a nice conversation about camping and aviation. You might ask: Why is he so cheap? He must cut corners or do poor work! This is simply not the case. His shop isn't fancy. He does one thing, does it very well, and he's his only employee. He works fast, and seems to have a very clear understanding of how much work he can do in a given day. He can be cheap, because he can afford to be cheap. He's not paying wages for a shop of 10 mechanics and their benefits in some great location. He does good, honest work at a price that keeps him competitive with anyone. If you have an fancy expensive car and expect factory licensed parts and certifications, take your business elsewhere! He's happy to do whatever you want, but you're simply not going to be on the same page. If you're looking for reliable and affordable exhaust service, it's hard to imagine a better alternative. Made an appointment for Saturday morning to get performance mufflers put on my Fox Body Mustang as a birthday present from my wife. Waited for 20 minutes before he sauntered in. Then he didn't have the larger diameter exhaust pipe that we talked about when I made the appointment. I should have left then and found someplace else. Then when I go to pick up my car, he tells me he's out of exhaust tips and will need to make another appointment. I'm a busy person, this is unacceptable. AND the pipes are cut uneven so one is sticking out past the bumper further than the other. So now I call to get my exhaust tips and am told it will be a month before he can do it because he's racing. Avoid this place people! read more

Stopped in with my old E30...a victim of Seattle's vicious potholes, and a piece of exhaust pipe that needed to be opened up 2mm. "Five bucks. Don't set that on my counter," Dave snaps. "Nope, it's right here on my toe!" Awesome! So, I pull the BMW onto the rack and Dave talked about his dislike of BMW exhausts. As far as I'm concerned only 2 things suck on E30s (exhaust and rear subframe bushings). Great, quick-witted conversation on that! All this took place over about 30min at the cost of 60$ (I threw in a few extra for unexpected sudden service). Needed new catalytic converters on my 2008 f150 and possibly a muffler. Jake, the manager was right on top of the job. The shoppe did an awesome job! Jake diagnosed I did not need a new muffler and did not try an sell me a new one. He commented to me the old one was in great shape and used it. What a refreshing experience, honesty goes a long way! Dave, the main man at the shoppe, gave spectacular service. I left my car after hours and dropped my keys in a mail slot. I phoned the shoppe the next day and spoke with Dave who had a diagnosis for me the same day and fixed it that SAME day. There was another shop with decent reviews up the street that gave the same EXACT diagnosis but was going to charge at least 50% more plus it would take half a week. Through this all, I actually never met Dave in person but had very pleasant conversations with him over the phone. I completed the transaction over the phone and picked my car up that evening. If you have an Audi with a broken flex pipe (extremely common) there is no better place in Seattle. I checked out 2 other places and were quoted absurd amounts in labor (pulling the entire exhaust system; replacing downpipe + flex, etc.), parts and time. I called, made an appointment the same day, he looked at it, quoted me 1/4 of what others were charging and fixed it while I grabbed a quick bite at Taco Time! The muffler and pipe on my car were well past due; now they're brand new and the car is silent. The pipework looks as tidy and proper as the original factory installation. Based on my experience today, Dave does skillful, careful work to a high standard of craftsmanship. He does it when he says he will, and he does it quickly and efficiently. Fast Fast Fast! Dave put the car up on the rack and showed me what was wrong and what he would do to fix it. I needed a new muffler because my after market one broke where pipe leading into it had fractured. Apparently Honda's stock muffler has a brace at that spot to decrease wear from vibration and time. Dave showed me the brace and put one there on my new muffler to reinforce this area like the Honda manufacturer does. In less than an hour he was finished. And affordable, with no gimmicks or trying to sell me on something I didn't need. Great Job Dave! read more

The FIRST thing I want to mention is the respect he showed to my girlfriend. Unlike so many mechanics she has experienced, Dave made her day. Many times she has been ignored or worse talked down to just for being a woman. Now to the review... Amazing experience! I had a growing hole in my resonator for quite some time and just kept putting it off. Every once and a while I would get sick of the noise and call around and get a quote. The price I was used to hearing was about $150 for parts and then the additional cost of labor, "Probably" $75-100, for a grand total of $225-250. Then I got my oil changed 2 days ago and they asked me if I knew I had a pretty big hole in my exhaust, and referred me to Dave. I now know why they talked so highly of him. I called him and explained what was going on and asked for an estimate. He said, "$100. I'm full today but have 1pm and 2pm open tomorrow which do you want"? Like others before me the directness caught me a bit off guard, but I took the 1pm slot. Showed up the next day, dropped it off, spent 25 minutes getting lunch and he was done by the time I got back. Went here a few years ago for a minor repair when Dave was there. Fast, fair service then, so when I needed a muffler this week for my 89 4Runner, I made an appointment here. Dave is gone but Duane gave me a quote which was reasonable and I booked it. Dropped the vehicle off, returned to pick it up and the actual price was lower than the estimate. I brought my Mercedes SL55 AMG to Dave based on the reviews on yelp. I called him up and explained that the pin holding the right muffler in place had broken off and needed to be re welded. We set up an appointment later that day. I show up, and Dave is a great guy. We talk muscle cars and horsepower while he checks the underside of my car. He informs me of the following. "So I'm going to re weld the pin onto the muffler. This can go one of two ways. One if you hear a lot of swearing while I'm welding, it should cost about $45-$50. If you don't hear a lot of swearing, it will cost $25-$30." I hung out next to the car and talked with another client about cars for a few minutes while Dave went to work. About 10 minutes later, and after no swearing at all Dave informs me that everything is fixed and that it will cost $25. Even if it were $50, I still would have been happy. It has been over a month now and the weld has held beautifully, good quality work as well, very nice welds. I'm bringing my Mercedes back there soon to have him delete my resonators which we talked about when I was there. I wouldn't have anyone else work on my exhaust except for Dave. read more

This place is great. I had an O2 sensor break off in the catalytic converter. I came in and they repaired my vehicle in less than 1 hour for 110 dollars. This saved me from having to buy a whole new converter and having a different shop charge me outrageous labor fees plus the cost of the part. I normally do my own work on cars and don't like auto shops but this place is 100%! If I need exhaust work done around Seattle this is the place to go! read more

Upon arrival I watched Dave fix a broken exhaust hanger in 4 minutes flat. This includes putting the car on the lift and bringing it down. I knew I came to the right place. Dave is quite the character and no BS type of guy. He works and talks FAST. Quoted me $130 (+tax) and 1 hour for adding in a resonator + muffler that I supplied myself. He had it done in 43 minutes for the price quoted. While under there he also corrected some hanger fitment issues and a pipe rubbing issue I had as well. (these were cheap mandrel bent ebay 2.5" pipes I installed myself) Hits cuts, welds, and placement look precise and professional. My girlfriend and I found Dave to be very courteous and quite a hoot. He will be getting all my future exhaust business and recommendations to friends. Don't pay attention to any negative reviews on here. If you need your hand held go somewhere else and pay 2-3x as much. If you just need an OEM repair or replacement, or if your going aftermarket and have a good idea of what you want, this is the place for you. read more
