This place never disappoints. We live in Tulsa so it's always a treat when we get to go here. We brought our dog so we had to sit outside and it was super hot which was not awesome but obviously that's no one's fault but mother nature lol. Our waitress was sweet and very attentive. She brought us water for our dog and extra ice for all of us. My husband and I shared the regular grilled cheese and it was excellent. We added bacon because of course. The fried okra and the onion rings were some of the best we've ever had. The onion rings didn't fall apart when you took a bite and the fried okra was crispy and looked hand cut. While strolling around downtown Edmond, stopped into The Mule for 1 last beer. Found a couple seats at the bar, although the place was fairly full considering it was around 5PM. We ordered a beer and a glass of Pino and struck up a conversation with the nice couple sitting next to us. It was super pleasant. The bartender Brandon was 5-star! And all of the service was great. No complaints. Draft beer was cold and fresh. Although we had other dinner plans, we decided to eat a couple sandwiches here instead. We ordered a Ruben and a French Dip. Both came out quickly and piping hot. They were very well made, not over-sauced. Very good. The atmosphere of the place kinda reminds me of a cross between an old-school diner and a nicer bar - strange mix... but it works. The restrooms (only 2 single restrooms) were clean and well kept. All-in-all, this is a good place to visit when downtown. Whether to watch a game on the TVs, have a few drinks, or get some good upscale sandwiches. 5-star. Good job! read more

My only complaint, the bread on the club is cooked on grill vs toasted in a toaster, because of how they cook it, it was soggy. They really need to fix this. No one likes soggy, greasy bread. When visiting OKC/Edmond, The Mule is a MUST!!!!! I had the pleasure of tasting the macaroni pony years ago and I am still hooked! I went around lunch time and it was fairly busy but I was able do able to grab a seat at the bar. Since I was "on vacation" I of course had to try one of those tasty OK beers they had on tap.....Iron Monk Velvet Amber was a winner. I will say their cocktails also look delicious. I started with the fried green tomatoes.....delicious but honestly, should have went with the cheese curds. To my surprise, I decided to try something different. Went with The Cortez. The short rib was flavorful and melted in my mouth and the jalapeño cornbread was BOMB but....overall it was just blah. Next time I may ask if I can add mac & cheese to it. Probably would have elevated it for my taste. I also skipped on the grilled jalapeños so who knows, maybe I messed up on that one. Overall it was a great experience as always. Parked in front and first noticed the front patio area. Ordered the Cortez which was really good. Short rib with cheese, grilled onions n jalapenos. Mmmm Husband ordered the hamburger, good ,but to simple for me. Onion rings are really good too! For my side I had tomato soup which is good but wasn't served hot just almost room temp. I Have traveled to many cities across the United States for work over the past 20 years and this restaurant is definitely in the top five if not number one due to the fact it's been years since I've eaten out at a great spot!!!! Went here for dinner with a friend and was super excited because the menu had a lot of unique sandwich options. For an appetizer, we had the cheese curds which were amazing! Highly recommend. For dinner I had the Macaroni Pony and the brussel salad. Wasn't a big fan of the macaroni on the sandwich and it seemed to lack a bit of Flavor. The brussel salad was AMAZING though! My friend ordered the Philly steak and loved it and rated the fries 10/10. Definitely would return but would try something other than the macaroni pony. read more

Went last night for date night. We have been here several times. There was a wait, but not long. I ordered the Reuben, one of my favorite sandwiches. Normally excellent, this time it was a bit soggy. The rye bread, which is delicious, did not have the crisp toastness that it normally does, and the sandwich had far too much dressing. I realize those are minor complaints , but that's the reason they received a four and not a five. The onion rings were magnificent, as usual. The staff and our waitress were very friendly. read more

Where do I begin? At face value The Mule is a restaurant with delicious sandwiches and a unique vibe that is bolstered up by being in downtown Edmond. However, there is more to the restaurant than the eye can see. What your eye can not see is your waiter/waitress. Unfortunately, from the time we were sat to the time we left was a grand total of over an hour. If this was a nice dinner with friends, family, or even my significant other I would not be mad at that at all. But this was lunch at a sandwich shop at the end of the day. Most, if not all, of their menu items are quick to assemble or easy to make. Why are my sandwich and fries coming out 30-40 minutes after I order? Why did it take 10 minutes for our waitress to see us after we were seated? Why am I watching multiple appetizer plates arrive at a table that arrived there 20 minutes after us? Why has my glass been empty of water for the last 30 minutes of our meal? It baffles me when servers and establishments are like this. Even if it was a one top you treat them like the rest of your tables, and maybe in the future they bring their friends then you have a 5 top that tips extremely well. All because you treated the lone customer like the rest of your tables, with importance. What makes it even more confusing is watching your server do everything but tend your table. She was cleaning, setting tables, and helping other servers while taking occasional water breaks. Like girl, you are not being paid to do busy work. You got a whole row of tables that need your attention. I also, being a former waiter, completely understand not wanting to be the bothersome server. There is a line you have to walk with being attentive and overbearing. With certain people that line can either be larger or thinner. For others, especially in the customer service departments, I will make an ample amount of excuses for the employees just because I understand. Faking a smile is hard sometimes, but it is what pays the bills. Will I ever eat here again? Probably. They have amazing sandwiches and sides. Will it be a dine in experience next time? Was walking around the downtown Edmond area and this place seemed like it had great ambience, so there we went! The interior of the place was really cool! Staff was very welcoming too. We ordered the Fancy Pants, and another sandwich I can't recall the name - but it had pulled pork and mac n cheese in it. Great thing about this place is that they go above and beyond with how much they put into your sandwiches. And I mean...for real. Look at the pictures, these sandwiches were humongous. They truly went all out here - so this #ThankYouThursday goes out to them for that! My only comment is probably that I think it needs a little bit more of a savory hit on the Fancy Pants sandwich. It was a good combination overall - brie, pear, pesto, and shredded chicken if I recall correctly. And the brussel sprouts I had were good, but it did have some dry bits here and there. The Mule is an amazing hidden gem. We went there for lunch and found they had a great lunch special. For $11 you could get a half sandwich, side and drink. Their sandwiches are AMAZING!!!! I got a soup and my aunt got fried Okra. The side of okra was so large we couldn't finish it. The sandwich comes with homemade aioli and we LOVED them. The atmosphere was great, nice seating and had both inside and outside seating. I plan on coming back more and brining out my husband. The Mule has a special place in OKCers hearts. The Mule's first location is a cornerstone of The Plaza neighborhood. My experience at the original location has always been hit or miss; I was curious to try their newest location in Edmond. My past experiences lead me to my preferred method of ordering at The Mule: order a salad! Skip the fries/onion rings/poutine if you are gonna order a grilled cheesey sandwich of any kind. So far, it's worked well. They do a good "The Classic" which is a grilled cheese with a "dipping cup" (think salad dressing container) of tomato soup. This combo is a cold weather tradition in the midwest and I liked their take on it. Even though it was on the appetizers section of the menu, I thought it was a tasty $7 comfort food dinner on a cold winter evening. Next time I would order an "Our House" salad (balsamic vinaigrette on the side, light on the onions) with it. That balsamic dressing is delicious! Their "Our Caprese" sandwich had a lot of flavor, but I found something was slightly off with the proportions, though it probably won't stop me from ordering it again. All and all, my experiences here have really taught me to pay close attention to the fried / cheesey / fried cheesey / fresh veggies balance...and that's 100% within my control. This is absolutely one of my favorite comfort food places around. I'm never disappointed going here. Service is always fast whether it's the bar or at a table. Food comes out pretty quick. I love their fydh sandwich and I like that they have gluten free bread as an option. Their drinks are always on point and you never have to wait too long for a refill if you choose. They have a great selection of full bar and beers that are typically local brews. I would highly recommend their sandwiches, burgers, salads even. The salads are huge. I usually leave with leftovers most days I go in. The restaurant is pretty good size and a big patio area in front. I've never had to wait too long to get a table.
