The illuminated faux white bookcase in the upgraded room.
    Jennifer A.

This hotel is definitely a fancy hotel with some of the best customer support you'll ever receive. I had a few issues with my stay, mainly to misperception, and I was in a different room every night for the 3 nights I was there. Here's what happened. Day 1: I arrived. I was politely greeted and attended to. My room wasn't ready when I arrived so I was offered tea or coffee, even to go style. My colleague and I opted to return, instead. I arrive at my room. It was a single standard. This was literally the smallest room in a hotel I've ever seen. I could like down horizontally and touch both walls. I'm only 5'5". People have closets bigger than this room. I could hear EVERYTHING outside my door since the room was so tiny. I receive a knock on my door and was handed chocolates and a card, but I was still shocked. Despite the modern dark tones, fancy tile and rain nozzle shower, I ask the front desk what is the meaning of this. I was told that this is the room type I booked. I was not very satisfied by this response. I wrote an email to the address I received prior to my stay. I received another callback, shortly, from the same person, the GM. She offered to move me to another room for the night, but told me that they were fully booked the following day, so I'd have to return to this room type should there be a cancellation. I said fine. My claustrophobia kicked in. I was unhappy. The room I was transferred to was another world of nice. It had a king bed, a huge bathroom, premium toiletries and more of them, and an illuminated faux bookcase. I was helped with the move and asked what the situation was the next day. I was told I'd get a call. When the GM called, I could tell Lakshmi was a bit annoyed dealing with the situation as her voice raised while I was questioning her. She reiterated if there was a cancellation I'd get a bigger room for tomorrow, but it's doubtful. She could also charge me what my colleague is paying for a room of his caliber should one open up. We left it at that. Day 2: I packed my suitcase again, knowing I'd be moved. I left it in the room. When I came back from my day they had moved it and I was back in the dormitory style room (standard single). At least it was in a quite hallway. Literally, the suitcase on the floor took up all the floor space. I knew I was stuck for the night, but they did tell me they'd move me to a standard double the next day. Day 3: Again, packed up and when I returned, I was in a standard double. The toiletries were as elegant as the standard single, so very basic. The room was double the size and the bed was a queen, not a double like the standard single (get all that?). They asked me if the room was okay. I said it was as I left for dinner. But when I returned and tried to sleep, I could hear all the alley noise with people chatting and walking. It was also trash day, so early in the morning, lots of noise. I didn't want to move again, so I dealt with it. There were also a few stains on the floor, so this room wasn't too well taken care of. When I checked out the following day, they even gave me a coupon for 10% off my next visit and assurance they'd work with me to pick a great room. So here's the recap. If you book a standard single, you will have a VERY TINY ROOM. This is not something you'd expect from a hotel this fancy. Besides all of this, the hotel is in a great location with access to downtown SoHo. It's a very modern hotel with a towel heater and Bluetooth speakers in the bathroom. You get internet from your TV. They even have RedTube as an easily, accessible, app. No, I didn't use this (not like it's your business). The staff is fantastic and will attempt in their best ability to accommodate you despite your own screw-ups. Also, no gym and no restaurant on site. They give a voucher for a gym walking distance away and you're surrounded by restaurants, so life could be worse. If you're staying here, do yourself a favor and don't book the "standard" anything. It's worth the money to upgrade. TL;DR: Don't book a standard room. Great customer service. Be wary of room location due to outside/inside noise.

Unfortunately much more food & drink consumption than excercise but I did do a lot more walking than I do in my normal day to day life.

I chose the traditional afternoon tea. It was actually more affordable than I was expecting. Most of the food and the tea were all amazing. The chocolate cake served last was probably the least impressive part of the afternoon tea. Our waiter seemed nervous. But he went out of his way to offer to pack our leftover food and jam at the end of our meal. Our surroundings were beautiful and the pianist played so many recognizable songs flawlessly.

And I LOVE how they would make the effort to remember our faces and names. The accommodations were pretty wonderful too! We ADORED the hotel's breakfast. Included with our stay for breakfast was access to the buffet along with an entree off the menu. It was SO much food! The buffet alone was enough for a meal and it had so many options including fresh fruit, pastries, juice, smoothies, meats and cheese, etc. BREAKFAST WAS HEAVEN. I also really enjoyed the gym! Plenty of equipment. Upon arrival, they brought up chocolates and fruits. The chocolates were AMAZING. They also refilled our fruits and water in the room when the room would get cleaned. It was all the little things that made this place very special. We even stopped by the hotel pub (The Wigmore) which was great too and spotted a celebrity (Gerard Butler!) We had afternoon tea here as well and it was such a memorable experience. Truly a wonderful hotel and I'd highly recommend to anyone! You will feel so fancy if you are lucky enough to book a stay here :)

The other options are the Champagne Afternoon Tea (£110 per person), the Rosé Champagne Afternoon Tea (£125 per person), and the Seasonal Afternoon Tea (£125 per person). The sandwiches were nothing to write home about, but the scones were phenomenal (the best we had during our entire trip). I was too full to try the pastries, but they kindly packaged them for take-away. They also gave us an extra pastry for my mom's birthday, which was greatly appreciated. As expected, they had a wide variety of teas. I'm no tea connoisseur, so it's hard for me to comment much other than to say that I really enjoyed the two I tried. The service was excellent, and the interior was beautiful (and made even better by the live music). This was the only afternoon tea experience I had while in England, but I can't imagine it getting much better. Worth a visit!

This is absolutely not an accidental "let's just grab a quick drink" kind of place. You're committing financially the second you sit down. But the second the service starts, you kind of get it. Everything felt effortless in that very polished London luxury way. My gin martini was perfect. Not "good." Perfect. Cold, balanced, exactly what you want a martini to taste like when you're paying Claridge's prices. We also had champagne and just sat there for a while soaking it all in. The whole experience felt like a masterclass in hospitality. Also, and I need to mention this because it genuinely made an impression on me: they might have the nicest bathrooms I've ever used in my life. Truly. Painful for the wallet. Fantastic for the soul.

It would have to be something celebratory like my anniversary as it's roughly $700 US per night for a standard room. Went here for high tea in their winter garden and it did not disappoint. My boyfriend and I actually arrived 30 minutes earlier than our time and they welcomed us in which was really nice. We were seated and we enjoyed their several teas, filled up on pastries and scones. Chai was my favorite and same with their house blend. It came out to about $240 US for the both of us, which was one of the cheaper options compared to other high tea locations. Just be aware of the 2 hour time slot. After your 2 hours are up, they will relocate you to another part of the hotel to continue your tea.

We instantly took his suggestion and booked a reservation...and I'm glad we did. To our surprise, it was The Landmark's 125th year anniversary. So it was a special time to be there. There was an abundance of tea sandwiches and desserts, including special desserts for their anniversary. Additionally, to my surprise, it's all you can eat, baby! :-) There were four of us there. And we all very much enjoyed the sandwiches and desserts. Two of us enjoyed all of this elections immensely, and the other two with us weren't fans of the entire selection. There was a wide selection of tea and coffee, too. So that is Very enjoyable. The service is excellent and very friendly. And The Landmark itself is a historic building with great architectural features. Very beautiful. And the doormen were helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Don't worry about the price. How often will you get to do High Tea at The Landmark? I strongly recommend it.

The rooms can be a bit small and there is very little room to put your toiletries in the bathroom. The large bowl-shaped sink takes up most of the counter so you are forced to squeeze in your stuff uber and around the bowl. Sadly, the faucet BARELY makes it over the edge of the bowl so when you wash your hands, water goes everywhere and ends up spreading around the counter and gets your toiletries wet! Ugh!! That one detail is definitely not up to the normal Hotel Indigo standard in my opinion. Whoever designed the bathroom should never be hired again! This should be a 3 star review based on that. But.... The saving grace was the front desk and the maintenance guy. We quickly discovered that our safe didn't work. The front desk got the maintenance guy to our room quickly and he reset it. When we were ready to leave, it failed again so they summoned the maintenance guy again. He reset it but it failed again. So he proceeded to replace the safe. Those things are HEAVY!!! The poor guy had to lug it up from downstairs, unbox it, take out the old one, install the new one and then lug the old one back downstairs!! This guy was sweating profusely but handled everything so professionally. So kudos to him and the front desk for making this happen so quickly, thus the 4 stars!!
