Wacky bar with a crazy green haired bartender working behind the counter. Nobody was in there when I showed up and I just had a couple of drinks and a conversation with her. She was very let's say coming down off of something nice person that ambience is what you think for a dive bar pretty basic black wood bar not a lot going on. I'm sure it was a lot more lively during the weekends, but I was day drinking and I didn't really care and I love a good dive bar. read more

Anissa is the best bar owner ever and so sweet, by far the cleanest bar in town and comes serves. This bar has the best energy and pool league is a blast here. Bonus tip come Sundays and contribute to the sunday football feast and eat well! read more

This bar saved me. Saved my event. Saved the day. And LAST MINUTE, DAY OF, no less. The owner of the previous location where I was supposed to have my Mardi Gras event called me from the front seat of his car, DAY OF THE EVENT, saying my event would ruin his marriage if it was allowed, so he cancelled on me. I was dumbfounded and stuck needing a place to host an event. Many people had confirmed across all social media apps and I didn't know what to do. Thankfully, my friend suggested this place among a few others and I immediately went to work trying to get in touch with new possible locations and it wasn't even 8am yet. I hit up The Nectar on their website and on Instagram, and THANKFULLY Anissa the owner contacted me back elated to host my event. It was PREDESTINED...it was FATE to have my event here. This was meant to be! The owner was WONDERFUL. The bartender Donnie was an absolute doll and his Hurricane cocktails were OUT OF THIS WORLD! The whole staff received us like family. They took pictures of us, took pictures of the event, and made us feel at home. I couldn't believe it. And now everyone wants to come back. This place has amazing drinks, pool tables, darts, a wonderful jukebox, karaoke, a DJ that plays on certain nights, LOTS of immediate parking and adjacent parking lot parking. For a dive bar it's what you'd expect. They have a couple pool tables, apparently karaoke on Saturday nights, a full bar, and casual vibes. We had a nice time but unfortunately here is where they fall short. They are a cash only bar, they apparently don't like to give out free water. We wanted a single cup of water and they kept telling us we had to pay until they finally gave in. I mean; it's tap water and I'm pretty sure by law you have to provide it for free. They also do last call at 1:10am. Compared to literally everywhere else I have been to this is drastically early. And for being a dive bar the drinks are kind of expensive as well. It is local and small and we have had a decent time when we have gone but if they at least accepted card payments or even Zelle at least maybe we would frequent more; and don't be stingy with the water. read more

The bar is usually my cup of tea but decided to give it a try again with a few friends. It was quiet which was kinda weird since I recall there being music played my previous time there. Plus you know your usually use to hearing some type of music playing but there was none. Found out you gotta pay the little juke box for that. WEIRD! Any ways, what hooked me to this bar this second time around was the wild vibrant green hair chick behind the bar by the name of Mimi. Her fun vibe really brings you in and her drinks were made so well. She's definitely the life of the bar. My last visit was so bland just had a drink and left. But this second time gave me a reason to want to return more because of the fun, inviting vibes I encountered from such an amazing bartender. I live in mission Hills and come here every so often. Love Anissa she was so caring for me. One night I got into my cups and stayed the whole nite. By then I was tipsy and when it was time to go A there was a taxi waiting outside for me! I asked the driver how much the fare was and he said " the owner took care of it." This place is is terrible. The drinks suck. It's cash only. And worst of all when I went there was a guy with a fist sized bagged of cocaine trying to shove bumps into women's faces. He was saying he wanted to drug up someone to the point that they'd sleep with him. This was right in front of the bartender. The bar looks ok. Dark and stuff but the vibe is so creepy. When I asked here, I was just laughed at and said "it's a full bar, bro." The demographic there was not very welcoming, and not very good looking either. This place had no good energy and was small. I went to support my brothers band and the regulars literally ruined the bands time at the bar.... Shoutout to the band au jus they caught the worst of it But these regulars made it uncomfortable for everybody. They harassed the band and made everyone leave before the last band could even play. I like this place! They don't serve food, it's a sports bar but it reminds me of the bar on Cheers! Where everybody knows your name. The owner/bartender is super cool. They also have karaoke several nights a week from 9:30 until 2, not absolute on the end time but call if interested. The owner sings too. They have pool tables, darts and a lot of tv screens. You can watch the game or a show. The karaoke has three screens and the KJ plays videos. It's next to several eateries if you are hungry and a pizza place next door open until 11pm. It's a full bar. SHITTY dive bar. I've been here a couple of times and if you've been here more than once, you'll know they have their regulars. Good for them but it's a weird and strange ambiance each time. The place is definitely rundown, the bar and bathroom are gross, drinks are watered down, and I've been offered drugs here multiple times. It's true that their demographics is not welcoming and older. You either fit in or you don't. A lot of people seem to already know each other and must be some locals and/or regulars there. However, not all of the locals like the place because they hang out in the back alley and let the music play throughout the night next to apartment complexes. Also, be careful with some of their bartenders. A bartender went PSYCHO on me for not tipping enough even though it was more than 15%... lol hilarious. I agree that a tip should not even be expected, it should be EARNED. He had been drinking with the people he served that night and I wouldn't be surprised if he was on something. It went way out of hand to the point he pushed and kicked me out of the bar, threatened me with a weapon, and refused to let me back in or give my credit card back. The next day, I also checked my bank account and it looks like he charged way more than I consented to on the receipt. That sounds like THEFT to me.. I had to call my bank and explain the whole matter and they were able to refund the extra amount he charged me. I had to cancel my card and get a new one all because one of the bartenders had too much to drink and couldn't do his math. I'm talking to you, SAL! As you probably know, this was the last time I've ever and will ever set foot in this shitty establishment, if you can ever call it that. Sadly I don't think I'll be returning here anytime soon unless things change. To begin with, most of the bartenders here are not nice. One girl in particular named Richelle was extremely inattentive to me. I tried to get her attention several times and she purposely ignored me wouldn't make eye contact but it seemed like she had no problem helping out all the male customers and kept checking on them. Ridiculous. Yeah I'm sure she thinks if she's extra nice to the men they will tip better which can be true but if I get good service somewhere I will tip good as well so that's a bunch of BS! Also the male bartender was rude to me as well. It seems like they are only nice to their regulars here which will affect their business in the long run if they want to become popular and big. The only nice bartender is named Sabrina she's a sweetheart but unfortunately that's not enough for me as she's not always there obviously. Oh and another thing, several of the bartenders here are drinking with the customers and getting drunk that is so unprofessional to me! Even Gordon Ramsay himself would say so as he scolded a bar that did the same thing on his show Kitchen Nightmares! Wen't out for my aunt's birthday Monday night and stopped in to have a few drink's because we go often and LOVE the bartenders KJ & Josh. We are sitting at bar having a good time and out of nowhere i hear the "Owner" say i'm leaving because these bitches won't stop talking shit!??? i then said excuse me ? She said get the fuck away from me... I was flabbergasted!!! We were laughing and having a good time and not once did we say a word about her. She then proceeded to take her phone out and record us. Went a few days ago with a friend for the first time and was very impressed by the service I received. I wasn't really too sure what to order but the bartender Richelle helped us out and gave us great recommendations. The drinks were strong and tasted good and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. This place is fun and friendly...period. Any weird reviews are most likely from before the current owner. She welcomes everyone and makes them feel like regulars. ** CASH BAR ONLY WITH NO ATM INSIDE ** Me and my wife are sort of new to the Northridge area (moved here in Nov 2019) but we are LA natives born and raised. We have been out scouting for bars and lounges in the area and came across this place on Google. It had pretty good reviews so we decided to Uber there thinking we would spend a few hours there on a Saturday night. We get there, and the place is ok but pretty empty and right away I can tell this isn't our type of place. I got a weird "The hills have eyes" kind of vibe. But we're here, and the uber is gone so lets try it. As soon as we sit down, the bar tender tells us that it is cash only. Really? It's 2022. But okay fine. We have no cash on us, so we ask if they have an ATM. The answer is "NO". Really? No ATM inside? Not good business. Instead, she directs us to a bank across the street or some billiards bar. We left and oh yeah had to call an uber. Waste of time and an uber ride. Nectar ownership, please invest in some kind of electronic payment / POS system. Or how bout have an ATM inside?? There is room for improvement*** at this place and I'm reviewing my experience I had this past Friday Night: I ordered my "go to drink" and am familiar with the way it should taste. My friend and I were not happy with the Long Island drinks we ordered here. They were missing a few important ingredients like rum, triple sec and sweet n sour and they tasted watered down. Even if my bartender was new, a Long Island is a drink that's just as popular as a Margarita. It doesn't get made wrong unless you've never made it before.... It was also difficult to get the all the bartenders' attention while standing next to all the people seated at the bar. All the seats were full but I had to waive my hands to get the attention of someone on staff to help, 1st the tall guy who was waiting for a while to pay with the cash in his hand, and then 2nd to help me so I can order more drinks. (Being that I'm 6'0 tall, waiving is not something I have to do to get service at any bar, just sayin'! ...) After most people closed their tab from last call, I also stood at the bar and waived my hands to get assistance but, it took them a good 5 minutes again for anyone to walk over and notice me. The pros of this place is that their is karaoke, darts, and 2 pool tables. I enjoyed playing pool with my friends and the crowd is a friendly mixed-age crowd. ***If customer service and care to the making of the drinks improved, I could easily give this place 4 Stars. I can't get enough of The Nectar. One, they have a great atmosphere and great bartenders! Whom always greet me with a smile and then proceed to get me my poison of choice. Their pool tables and darts machine are a bonus. I'm not a great player but the players there don't discriminate and just wanna have fun. Two, when there's events there's always food! And when there's food there are happy belly's including mine. Three, bad noodles (people who wanna ruin the night) don't get me down. Honestthe staff tries to handle them as quickly and gracefully as possible and I commend them for it. And last but not least, the owner Anissa is amazing. I go to quite a few bars, she's the only owner who isn't afraid to get dirty and help behind the bar, but she also makes sure everyone is having a great time via entertainment (karaoke, trivia night, DJ). Even when it's a mellow night don't be afraid to sit down and have a cold one! Who knows you might make a couple of new friends. Shout out to my favorite bartenders in town!
