I had an appointment earlier and decided to meet up a friend for dinner. They mentioned this place which is fine as I've alway enjoyed each visit. Plus we were meeting early which also happy hour was still happening. I think it's from 3-6. Even at 5 in the afternoon, there was no parking in the lot. And the residential parking was pretty much packed. As I had my little pup with me, we needed a table outside. It's been a while since I was seated outside. Usually it's been in the bar area. They have a back gate at the patio but it was locked. First off, the place was packed. It's been a while since it's been like that. Or maybe I've only been coming during happy hour. Also, it's somewhat seems to be a thing where you have to ask for the happy hour menus. Anyways, their items are pretty decent for prices. Drinks specials and some of the food items are worth it. We alway get a pitcher of beer for the table to share. Food wise, a couple of the ceviche. Either fish or shrimp and that's served with a tostada chip. For 12.00, it's pretty decent in size and quite tasty. Between the fish or shrimp, I prefer shrimp better. Also, two street tacos for 5.00 with many choices of protein. Lastly, the loaded fried nachos for 12.00. Let's say when they mean loaded, it was loaded. That too comes with your choice of protein which I went with the al pastor. The food was great. Reasonable price and well portioned. Plus the chips and bean dip to start off. They also accommodate some salsas with chips which is nice. Before it would alway be the bean dips and you would have to ask for the salsa. If you want fresh guacamole, they have someone that will prepare it table side to your liking. This visit, there was also the mariachi band walking around asking people if that wanted any requests. The service was great, the staffs all are amazing and friendly. God I love this place especially after playing golf at Van nuys down the street..the staff is always great and nice..and the food wow I always get the cheese enchiladas with rice and beans..the fact they always give chips and salsa comp as you sit down goes along way..a small gesture like that keeps guests coming back all the time..will be back always read more

I went to La Corona restaurant this last Sunday with my family. I had seen the reviews online and I was not disappointed. There were seven of us and we were all seated promptly. The food and the service was exceptional. The restaurant is big and can accommodate large parties, which is nice. They do have a pretty big parking lot and there is street parking available. I got the camarones à la diabla they were delicious. The chips and salsa were delicious. They bring a lot of different types of salsa out which was nice and their portions are pretty big. I am definitely gonna come back again prices I think for seafood and for the amount of food that you receive are reasonable. Will come again and take pictures next time. ** 400th Review** I met one of my boys here for a game and first off, let me say that parking can be a pain! They have a small area in the back but this place gets busy so trying to find street parking can be a little hassle at times. So, although I've been here before, they have improved the place a bit from the last time I was there. They have added more TVs in the bar area and it actually works. You can see a TV from every angle now and you have all the TVs in the main area as well. So, this is actually the perfect place to catch games with your friends. The restaurant is spacious with the bar area, the main area and they also have a patio (I did not have a chance to check it out). The service was great! They were very attentive checking on me asking if I needed anything while I waited for my friend to arrive. They kept my water full and provided me with chips and salsa while watching the game. Several people would come by and make sure I was ok, not just my the waiter but everyone, and I thought that was cool. Lastly, let's talk about the food! The food was really good. Now I will say, at one point, I thought I had a few stale chips but I also could have been tripping. Otherwise, I ordered the Camarones Imperiales, which is shrimp sautéed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. It came with beans rice, salad and tortillas. The serving amounts are very generous and you could definitely feed two off this plate. My friend ordered the Mar y Tierra burrito and he demolished the whole thing. It was his first time there and I asked him several times if he liked the food and response was, "damn this shit's good!" Been coming to this restaurant for years and it's been a go to for me along with my family. You can tell the owner is starting to hire random waiters that have no experience. When I start to see new face it's never a good sign and my instinct was correct yesterday. I made a special request which was accommodated in the past. When my order came out, it was all wrong. The waiter stated "No worries, I'll send it back and we'll get it done correctly. (In a VERY rude way) Keep in mind my daughter's food and wife's food was ready for them to eat. Waited over 20 minutes my food never came out. The family was done eating at this point. I decided to cancel my order. Left the restaurant very disappointed. Not only that everything lacked flavor. So the atmosphere is very Mexican but the food is very Americanized. Also the prices are way too high for what you get. We will not be going back. Haven't had a bad time in here, this is one of those Valley staples that is well known. Plenty of business deals as well as family occasions are had here. Stopped by the other day because my wife had a knock down and drag out with someone close to her. She was shaking and turning red (from anger) and I immediately thought of the margaritas she likes to have here so I pulled over. We didn't order much food because she was on the liquid alcoholic diet. I ordered some ceviche which was pretty good and topped it off with a little dessert which was had in the form of some flan. Two margaritas deep my lovely lady felt the weight of the argument and the world lift from her shoulders. Overall I'd recommend this place if you want some good Mexican service and a taste of the ethnic cuisine. The place is decorated with dark furniture that's been thoroughly used but is comfy and the design of the restaurant allows servers to frequent your table no matter where you sit. Service is great and food comes out fast. They have a lady with a cart making fresh guacamole tableside, which is super fun and tasty, but $17 feels overpriced (more like a $10-12 dish to me). The chips and salsa are awesome--the salsa is green, spicy, and so good. The beans, though, are not my thing. They taste really heavy on lard, and as someone who makes beans at home without it, I wasn't a fan. The vibe is cool, like you're on vacation. The place is big, lots of seating, and the bar looks great (haven't sat there yet). Parking kind of sucks, but that's just part of the experience. I love this place, been coming here since it opened and truly love the fantastic patio. The servers are all fabulous, attentive and fun. The food is delicious, the price is a little steep but it's good for quantity/quality. The one thing I'll say is that the cleaning product scent is indeed very overwhelming during the day and is even more so in the evening when they're trying to leave by 10 and start cleaning 8:30/9. So much so that my last 3 take home boxes have tasted like chemical, I thought I was just me but I had 3 other people taste it and it was ~strongggg~ on the lettuce of my salad/ tacos. This was my first time here and honestly the two stars only go for the guy that made our guacamole because he had good manners and the guacamole was really good. I had ordered enchiladas rancheras and the tortillas were mildly hot, hard and the sauce was pretty much blended tomatoes, plus the rice was very hard and crunchy... When I requested to order something else instead, the waiter asked "what's wrong with it?" And I told him and he just took my plate away and I told him I wanted quesadilla instead. He didn't say "it's ok, I'll bring it out for you" or "I'm sorry it wasn't to your liking" he just looked very upset. Our sodas tasted like bleach?? It was the weirdest thing, so we ended up drinking water which didn't taste like bleach. The worker that picks up the plates at empty tables, was just standing next to us the whole time we're eating (very uncomfortable for us since we're eating and she's just waiting for us to finish) and I was still eating and she just says "I can pick this up right?!" My favorite place for dinner. The drinks: my favorite is the mango margarita and if you come during happy hour they are reduced in price. They also offer other drinks as well as beer. Food: my favorites are the Mar y Tierra, molcajete, mojara and the ceviche. I love how they offer handmade tortillas. Service here is always amazing and Carlos is one of favorite servers here shout out to him. I've made a couple stops at La Corona and have enjoyed the experiences. The food has been good as well as the service and the atmosphere. It's a big space with multiple seating areas and the ambiance is nice with some various decor. The main big room features a water fountain, and a cool faux grass background, and several TVs. On some days they also have some live music via a band. The menu is extensive and features various appetizers, soups, enchiladas, salads, sizzling plates, several molcajetes, house specialties, tacos, burritos and more! They also have a full bar and feature some various great looking margaritas. The (free) chips, salsas and bean dip are quite good. You can add guacamole for a surcharge. The green salsa is my favorite. On the most recent visit, we ordered some various tacos (asada, al pastor and de barbacoa) and drinks. The portions of the taco meat were generous, and the meats were tender. The tacos de barbacoa were my favorite of the others we ordered. The rice and the beans were good. They have a decent sized parking lot in the back besides any street parking around. Prices are quite good and comparable to other places. read more

On a recent work trip I landed my hungry ass here as I waited to check into my nearby hotel. I had the intent to watch the Padre game while I enjoyed my lunch by I quickly learned that would not be the best idea. Dodgers were on every single TV, which was kind of my personal hell but I wasn't going to rock the boat. I knew I was at a legit place when I walked up and could smell the Fabuloso oozing from the patio - that screams Mexico to me, and I love it. I made my way inside and was absolutely shocked as this place was packed! I took a seat at the bar as there was no wait, ordered a salad and an ice tea from the bartender who was less then attentive but did make service suffer. The taco salad was excellent and super filling as it was a big portion. I added chicken to the salad and combined with the free chips and salsas (yes, multiple) it was very satisfying. Will I ever be in the neighborhood again? I doubt it but if I am, I'd hang here. read more

I ordered the fajitas (around $38), expecting a mix of chicken, steak, and shrimp, but what I got was mostly onions, bell peppers, and other vegetables with barely any meat. It felt more like a veggie stir-fry than the hearty fajitas I was promised. To top it off, one of the members in my party mentioned that we were there celebrating my birthday So they brought out a tiny cup of Tres Leches for my birthday--and then charged me $12 for it! It didn't even taste authentic, more like a generic American cupcake. For the price, I expected much better. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. read more

My wife and I generally share the Aguachile Verde (appetizer portion) and then a dish each . . . Far too much food, but it's worth it. For people who are looking for simple . . . The Barbacoa Tacos and the Wet Burritos are both amazing. The burrito is huge, so be careful. Watch out for the bean dip which is served with chips upon arrival. It's delicious and if you aren't careful, you will find yourself eating a lot of it. Certain nights of the week you will find live Mariachi. The restaurant can get busy on Friday & Saturday nights with waiting times around 30-45 minutes. They do have outdoor seating and during the summer it's a great place for breakfast. read more

The parking lot here gets full fast. Sometimes there's no spots so you might have to park on the street. They had a guitarist walking around to serenade people, I thought that was fun. WOW! Boyfriend and I came here for the happy hour and did not disappoint. Chips they started us with were tasty, but what really hit was that bean dip! Almost tastes like a blended ful mudammas. Bf got the blended watermelon margarita and I got the house margarita. I didn't like my drink very much but the watermelon marg was out of this world! It was so good I wound up asking the server to swap my drink for the same one and she did. So sweet of her for that!
