We were out and about with errands last week and decided to get some late breakfast. After our typical Yelp check, we actually found we were right here by Chase's and having not been here for a while, decided to make a diner brunch. Parking is easy because they are located in a large shopping complex and the entrance is totally handicap accessible. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and taken to a booth, given menus, and asked about what drinks we would like. The diner itself was busy with lots of other older folks enjoying food and conversation. Typical diner related juke box music playing in the background. Our server, Chane, was friendly and efficient. She came back a couple of times for our order because we were being a tad slow! I decided to stick with my favorite, eggs benedict with the eggs over-medium and home fries. The eggs were cooked perfectly, served over a slice of Canadian bacon (which could have been cooked a tad more and caramelized to add flavor) and the English muffins needed a bit more toasting. The hollandaise sauce was eh...sorry but I it was a tad thick and not much lemon flavor. I did order some extra to pour on my potatoes as well. Their home fries are cubed, deep fried potatoes, nothing special and lacking some seasoning. Overall, an "ok" breakfast. Wife did the French Toast Combo that comes with two thick slices of French toast, two eggs (which she ordered over-medium) along with a couple of slices of bacon (she asked for them to be cooked crispy and that's how they came!). Overall a decent meal that she enjoyed. Wife also had some hot coffee with her meal. Overall, Chase's is a diner and their food is good. Thanks for a good meal! read more

My husband decided to take me out to breakfast. It had been a couple of years since we had eaten here, so he chose this place. I should have looked at my review of this place before I ordered, because I ended up ordering the same thing by mistake. Ugh! I got The Works Skillet again and once again it was just okay. My husband got the skillet with chicken fried chicken. Both of us said the same thing about our meals; we wouldn't order them again. They weren't bad but we've had better skillet dishes! Next time I'll stick with Eggs Benedict. read more

Everyone is super friendly, atmosphere is very nostalgic waitresses included... we had a very funny and entertaining. The food super delicious. I had the biscuits and gravy and hubby got the chicken and waffles. 10/10 definitely would recommend. They have home cooked desserts and it's giving a real diner feel! A little east coast vibe here on the west coast. Transportation back to the 1950, have some great home cooked food, listen to the jukebox and have a milkshake!!! Totally worth it!! read more

Chase's Diner came to my attention when I saw Yelp friend LaToya B's review. When she mentioned that this is where she takes her mother for breakfast...well I knew this diner had to be a keeper. The ambiance says 50s diner and the place is kept very clean. We were here on a Friday for a late morning breakfast. The place was doing a brisk business. Some of it was due to high school graduation that happened the previous day and some were still celebrating. While we were seated promptly and our drinks were brought to us quickly (I had lemonade while my husband had coffee and orange juice), it took a while for a server to come and take our order. I ordered the "combo breakfast" which consists of: "2 eggs, 2 pancakes and 2 pieces of bacon". I got my eggs fried over easy. My husband ordered the "meat lovers sampler" which consists of: "2 pieces of bacon, a sausage patty and half a ham steak with 2 eggs, hash browns and toast". We both enjoyed our breakfasts. The pancakes were light and fluffy and the eggs were prepared properly. My husband enjoyed his rather filling meal. We will return for breakfast here next time we visit AZ. read more

I tried this place for the first time for breakfast. I ordered the Combo Special and added a side of hashbrowns. I didn't care for the pancakes that much because I've had much better elsewhere. The eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon were good. I would order something else if I were to return. The service by Lisa was great. She was super nice, attentive, and made me feel welcome. It was a typical American diner. There was Beatles stuff everywhere and plenty to look at. There were more than a couple regulars that came in, so they much really like the place. read more

We went in for breakfast around 7am during the weekday. We were seated quickly and provided menus. It was quiet and only 1 other table had people eating. We were able to order coffee while we looked at the menu. There is a lot of different options to select from. Pancakes, waffles, omelettes, burritos, biscuits, skillets, platters, burgers and other types of sandwiches (fish, chicken pork and/or cheese). The Belgium waffles I ordered were warm, toasty and a very filling. I would recommend using fresh strawberries without the syrup since it comes with whip cream. That morning I was in the mood for some pancakes, french toast or waffles and this an excellent choice. The coffee was fresh and we enjoyed our service. The other food items were also enjoyed and we all said we would like to return to try other food items for breakfast. I would like to say thank you to the staff and the individual who helped my sister get her wallet back. She had forgotten her wallet in the morning and didn't notice until late in the afternoon. She was in the process of retracing her steps when she heard a knock on her door. The individual delivered the wallet to her home since she didn't return to the diner through out the day. She was very thankful and we appreciated the kind gesture. read more

I brought my family to Chase's Diner for Saturday nights desserts and they did not disappoint. The sundae and banana split are both big enough for two people and the ice cream is delicious. Alright, my second review in one year. I can feel my Yelp elite coming back to me. So Chandler's grandmother actually recommended this place to me. She's a lovely young lady named Mary. The atmosphere is phenomenal. It's like walking into a Time Machine and you're in a 50s diner. It is perfectly decorated. With an inviting atmosphere. The service was prompt and the seating location was perfect. I would recommend sitting in the juke box side if you. A good jam session while you eat. The menu offers many American classic favorites for breakfast lunch and dinner. I started with a cinnamon roll and coffee before my meal and the icing on the cinnamon roll was the best I ever had! I don't even care what's in it next time I go give me 5 cinnamon rolls to go. Next I had the simple breakfast pancakes bacon and eggs. All perfectly cooked. The check was reasonable and the service was the best I've had. Thank you I look forward to returning for another savory dish. read more

Service is the weakest spot at Chase Diner. So often staff seem overwhelmed as they run from table to table. The location for this place is wonderful, right at the corner of Warner and Alma School. Ambiance could not be improved upon, love the the jukeboxes and themed pictures from yesteryear. The food is quite good, given that it is drawing on a theme of nostalgia. read more

There is a huge menu here, certainly enough options that you will find yourself planning on what you will get on your next visit before you even place your order for your current visit. The food on my first visit was awesome, and the waitress was a total crack up. The chocolate milkshake was great too. My second visit was a bit less wonderful, but still not bad. I will certainly go back. I love the old school vibes as well. read more

Old school diner, with old school diner ambience. Most mornings, I just want a coffee - the food comes second. At Chase's Diner, you're getting that first cup of coffee with a side of delicious morning breakfast food. The service was great, too! I had the Belgian waffle with a pair of sausages on the side. All was perfectly cooked and satisfying. I would definitely come back and I highly recommend Chase's Diner for that morning coffee fix and a great breakfast! This review is my opinion about this business and you might find that your experience differs from mine. With that said, I highly recommend this business and highly recommend that people visit this business. read more

We've been going here for several years & they never fail. From their cute, classic feel, excellent, friendly staff, to their good food food, you can't go wrong. I personally LOVE the French Toast myself, but they have a wide variety of options for whatever you're in the mood for. My only compaint is, it's always freezing in there. I don't know why they keep it so cold, so I always bring a sweater & then I'm good. read more

This place has a cute 50's diner theme and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. The service was fast and friendly and this is a local, family-owned and operated place so if you want a diner meal, check this place out instead of going to Denny's. If you have a larger party, it may take a while to get seated during busy times. Most of the seating is booths and bar so there are only a couple tables they can put together to seat larger parties. read more

Food was a bit bland. The turkey dinner stuffing was very mushy, though it tasted okay. The texture was just odd. Fried pork chop was grisly and dripping with grease. The green beans were cold. We were so hungry and tired we didn't complain and ate, and would probably visit again for breakfast, but definitely not as good of an experience as we've had at other local diners. The bathrooms for me were the worst part...phew they need to be cleaned! Service was average and our server in particular was really nice. The air conditioning was FREEZING which is fine because it's the middle of summer. I was shivering the whole time! read more

The very first time going to Chase's Dinner, I was hooked. The service was friendly, inviting knowledgeable and helpful. The food came quickly and it was much better than I expected. Hot, not just warmed up food and the portions were perfect. Although I don't live in Chandler, this is my favorite place to eat hands down. I love the family atmosphere, and for them to be around almost 30 years, that speaks volumes. read more

My family and I have been coming to Chase's Diner for years because of the solid, reliable diner fare! Burgers? Reuben? (Extra sauerkraut!) Pancakes? You'll find it all here and enjoy it. Are the burgers a little greasy? Yes! As all good diner burgers should be. Do I recommend it after getting your gallbladder out? Well, that depends on how masochistic you are, but yes. Do it. I've only had one negative experience here, and it wasn't the diner's fault. Have you ever been to AA? This group of old men decided to hold a very loud and rather creepy big book study session here one night after my niece's cello debut. As the men got deeper into their "my drinking problem is because of women" whining, I asked if we could move to the other side. The server and I made eye contact, and she did a little eye movement towards them. I nodded. We immediately had a new table. The servers we have had have always been lovely. We haven't gone in the am in a few years, so we have really gotten attentive service--but not annoyingly attentive! Solid diner experience. read more

The golden age of dining preserved. I love finding and eating at retro diners from the 50s and 60s. Chase's is definitely on my best of list. Just like the diners of a bygone years ago you are there when you walk into the place including the music of that day. The food takes me back to how my mom made it and that is always a great memory. As I watch the team here waiting on the customers I see that service and a smile is still the name of the game and my waitress was awesome. Friends, this is a part of history that we cannot afford to lose. We need keep it going for our future diners so that they can experience what made American dining an experience. read more

Lisa was such an amazing and helpful hostess. I was craving a tuna melt and she said it usually is a hit, and she didn't lie! Super delicious, well portioned, with the side of fries perfectly cooked. It tasted fresh, and homey! My boyfriend got a DELICIOUS waffle combo, which was so buttery and delicious, almost nostalgic in taste. Our visit to Chase's Diner followed a medical procedure nearby that had required a 24 hour fast. So I was starving and I ordered steak and eggs with home fries along with a short stack of buttermilk pancakes. I can't believe I ate the whole thing!! The pancakes were light and fluffy and the steak was cooked just right. The service was excellent and we really enjoyed the diner decor. We'll definitely be back. read more

One of my favorite places to eat! Chase's is a classic 50's style diner with excellent food, and always great service! I've never had anything here that I didn't like. Breakfast is served all day, and the portions are huge! Get here early on weekends because the place fills up quickly, and for good reason! Try it! You can't go wrong! read more

Excellent food and service. The green chili breakfast burrito is both excellent and hot. I'm from New Mexico so I figured hot would be more medium. I was wrong it was decently hot so if you do t like things hot, be wary. Wife's said her pancakes were great. We liked it so much we came back the next day. I had pancakes then and they were excellent as was the sausage gravy. We also liked the 50s diner decor. read more

It was my first time in the Phoenix area, and I was determined to find a diner. Came across this place not too far from my hotel. It had that old Diner feel as soon as I walked in. Nice old school music and everybody seemed friendly. They were fairly busy, but my order came out quickly. The food was hot and tasty. The only downside was that they put a small cup of syrup on top of my eggs, and some of it it spilled over. I almost asked her to redo the eggs but decided just to roll with it. read more

What a cool spot hiding in plain sight. This spot was pretty busy when we arrived for a late breakfast on Sunday. We were greeted right away and given a buzzer to know when our table was ready. Service was great and we were seated in under ten minutes. I love that they have a good size bar to sit at and fun decor and such to look at while you wait. The menu options were great and we all found something we'd love. I ended up getting a burger because they sounded so good. Our table ordered chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy, meat lovers sampler, a pepper jack burger and DCE burger both with fries. Everything came out quickly and looks so good. My son said his chicken fried steak was good and surprised at how big it was. Our burgers were cooked as asked and so good! I'm glad I opted for the pepper jack burger and not the dry heat option as the green chilies on the pepper jack were hot enough for me ha ha. It has such good flavor and so filling. I felt prices were fair for portion sizes. The only thing that was a little of a let down for our family was the biscuits and gravy. While the biscuit was good the gravy good of had a bit more flavor/seasoning for our liking. read more

History

Established in 1997.

We're proud to live and work in Chandler. We've lived here since 1986. Our kids go to Chandler schools so we support Chandler schools. We appreciate that the Diner has taken on a life of its own and is as much Chandler's as it is ours. This is why we give back to the community by way of neighborhood homeowner groups, Sun Lakes clubs, youth sports, and several local charities. I was super stoked to check a place with "retro" in the name out, and I gotta be honest here, I left with pretty mixed emotions about a lot of things. The restaurant itself is pretty boring inside, mostly just being black with a few small pictures hanging up. I was kind of expecting big retro movie posters or something hanging around, but I definitely didn't get much of a retro vibe from this place minus a small neon "bar" sign and a claw machine in the corner. The menus were very cool, right by the front door its a record shelf and the records were the menus, so thumbs up for that idea. I thought i was mistaken, but I don't remember seeing sandwich prices on the actual menu, but as I look at other photos on yelp it does appear that the sandwiches don't have prices attached to them, which explains why I was thrown off by the end price. I settled on ordering the "take on me" which was black forest ham, roasted turkey, hickory smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and mayo on a Hawaiian style roll. I also ordered a sprite and a chocolate chip cookie as a side. The chocolate chip cookie was okay, pretty standard cookie though definitely not worth $3.75. The sprite was $2.99, and the sandwich came to $15.58. I was also charged $0.96 for something called the advantage program which I have no idea what that is. I gotta say, spending over $25 on a sandwich, a small cookie, and a drink is not something I would care to do at a place like this. The sandwich itself was very good, I won't deny that. The meat tasted fresh, and when it was all together it was definitely a good sandwich, but when there's not combo option and a basic sandwich, cookie, and drink ends up being $25 it's gonna be a no from me on returning in the future. Overall, I really wanted to love this place for the name, but the lack of much decorations and prices left something to be desired. The food itself was good, but not worth what was spent.

All of my meats were beyond dry. It's really hard to convey how dry. The ribs were the biggest terror point since not only was it as tough as leather but it tasted like it was doused in iodized salt. My uncle's plate was not any better. The kielbasa was sliced and overcooked so badly that the sliced edges were burnt and frayed - you've got to really try hard to screw up preserved sausage. I could only do a few bites and threw it all in the trash. They were getting busy and I was not going to stand back in line with trays of food to broach the problems. They make sure to ask for a tip at time of order but there's no service for quality control. My uncle texted me later in the day: "Today's restaurant was such an awful choice for BarBQ. I can't remember when I had worse. We have to go to a real good one next time." It is crazy how bad this lunch experience was and a rarity that Yelps score misses the mark so badly.

They also offer a wide variety of Asian goods such as Vietnamese coffee you can make at home, spam, pastries, and a variety of chips you can't find in a regular grocery store. The prices for these banh mi sandwiches are very reasonable. One sandwich costs around $9. You can cut it in half and split it into 2 which is a deal! They make mine without jalapeños which is exactly how I like it. They forgot and put some in one of my sandwiches tonight, but no biggie. I just picked them off, lol. The dining room is large, but I have never dined in. I will eventually! The variety is enough for you to stand there a good while and ponder on what you want. My fatty self has ordered 2 sandwiches each time with a drink, and I'll probably keep that going! I also like that they offer smoothies, milk teas and other drinks you can add toppings to. I had to park behind the building. The line was about 5-7 minutes long. I thought about getting a Bahn mi but have seen recent negative reviews- reviews even that they have failed the health inspection, so I decided against it. I ordered a small banana coffee which came out to ~$7. Although my order number was 10 behind the one that was being called, my drink was ready within a minute or two. I was expecting more of a cold foam but it is straight up banana PUDDING lol. So of course banana pudding on Vietnamese coffee is delicious! It mixed well; no clumps.

And you will see the coffee shop. It has huge windows, and garage windows. You can sit inside or outside. It's a perennial shrub with small, white flowers and tiny, red, very spicy berries that are dispersed by birds, and it thrives in warm, sunny conditions with well-draining soil. My grandma and parents use to grow them and I didn't realize how good I had it until I tried looking for my own chiltepin plant to grow. I can't find any so I guess I'll just have to come here for some cream cheese. - Chocolate Cherry Loaf ($12.00 - Only sold on Saturday and Sunday): Yum yum YUM!!! There's another local bakery in town that makes a chocolate cherry loaf but it's seasonal to Valentine's Day. Here at Don Guerra's Barrio Bagel & Slice, you can get it all year-long during the weekends. GET IT! - Sourdough Starter ($0.00 - FREE!): I was not a sourdough girlie during the pandemic but I've always been curious. Will this survive? We'll see. They have a helpful laminated sheet that teached you how to take care of your starter. Make sure you take a picture of it if you're attempting to start it. They're open daily from 7 AM-3 PM.
