French toast with sausages and eggs
    Lina L.

As soon as I walked in, it felt very rustic and bright. I loved the bear themed wood carvings, decor and all the cute gifts. I was surprised how busy the restaurant was. We had to wait a bit to get seated. I decided to try their biscuit and gravy with bacon and 2 eggs over easy. The bacon was kinda chewy with unrendered fat which was a turnoff. Even bigger disappointment was the biscuits and gravy. The gravy tasted so odd and off putting and the biscuits were huge but very dry and fell apart. Had a bite of hubby's French toast and it was the worst I've ever had. If they weren't so busy I probably would have mentioned something to the server but really wasn't in the mood. Still love the theme of this restaurant but the food was a major letdown today. Service was not the greatest probably due to how busy it was.

It was quite busy when we went around 11AM on a Thursday. I had the French toast with eggs and sausage. I also ordered a side of toast to soak up the eggs. The French toast was very thin and had absolutely no flavor. It was probably the worst French toast I've ever had. Wifey wanted to try their biscuits and gravy but she could not eat it as she said the gravy tasted yucky and the biscuits fell apart. The service was so so and was disappointing like the food. Not sure why this place was so busy as there are so many other options around here. Unfortunately I probably will not return.

Turkey Club with avocado and crispy fries

Today was my second time visiting this location. I got there around noon, restaurant was clean and was seated right away. My server Ana was amazing. She greeted me with a big smile and brought my drink right away. I ordered the Turkey Club, lightly toasted on white and crispy fries. She asked if I wanted to add avocado and I said yes, best decision ever!! My order came exactly as I ordered it. Ana kept checking up on me and brought my refill in no time. She was very attentive. I really enjoyed my lunch and will definitely be back. On my way out I noticed they have a gift shop with a huge selection of cute stuff. I couldn't help myself so I bought a bear for my granddaughter. I'm definitely coming back!!!

Since getting here in the Phoenix area, I have been to a Black Bear Diner three times. A friend of mine recommended it and I agree with him that Black Bear Diner is a great place to eat. You get a lot of scrumptious food for your money. I've had the biscuits and gravy as well as a veggie omelet. Everything was very good. The service is also wonderful. Our servers and cashiers were always a delight to talk with. They took our order without error and brought our food out quickly. Our coffee cups were continuously topped off. I liked the ambiance. The wall decorations, the outside decorations and even the souvenir store were great. On top of that the bathroom was clean and smelled so good. Thank you to the Black Bear Diner staff for a satisfying experience here in the greater Phoenix area.

    Steak and egg special

I've always enjoyed Black Bear diner, and the steak and egg special is worth stopping in for. The steak isn't particularly great, but it's a satisfying meal, in a nice atmosphere, with very good service. They don't complain about substitutions, which is nice. $4 for a coffee or iced tea is sort of outrageous, but that's today's prices.

WAS chicken fried steak, 2 eggs, toast and can't eat the hash browns. Very good food!! Very good customer service!!

Got a Southwest eggs Benedict. It was delicious. The service was fast and reliable. The ambience is very friendly. It feels like a good home meal.

Why has it taken me so long to get back here??? I made a quick stop for breakfast in the middle of my work day @blackbeardiner It smelled like home cooked breakfast in the parking lot, greeted and seated immediately, waitress was very friendly and went over some top favorites. I tried a few dishes but this stood out the most. Oversized soft fluffy biscuits, creamy savory gravy with the right amount of salt and seasoning, topped over that biscuit. Perfection! As I am eating I realize I didn't see the chicken and waffle plate on the menu and that was one that always hit for me. I'll definitely be stopping back for another brunch experience. Heck, I may just have to try dinner too. I love me some delicious comfort food! Just a cozy spot to have brunch. I love the little country stop as you walk in.

So I went to the blackbear diner this morning for breakfast ordered the Dave's omelette, which is bacon sausage ham in the in the omelette supposedly instead I got a scrambled egg taco all the ingredients spread across the top with the cheese on top of it not an omelette not even an egg taco just scrambled eggs with ingredients on top hashbrowns with cheese and up charge not gold. Coffee was good. Service was OK. The manager came over and knocked off five dollars for the piss poor omelette not sure if I'll be back. It's a mom and Pop type restaurant, as you can see the before pitcher look like it might be an omelette until I opened up the egg and found out it wasn't

Met my family here for lunch and it was my first time trying Black Bear Diner. My family has eaten here before and so I had high hopes! I ordered the tri-tip dip sandwich deluxe style with a side salad. My first bite was "ok" the meat was very tough and kinda hard to chew. The second bite I got had the deluxe grilled onions and mushrooms. The veggies instantly tasted of cleaner as if they were sitting near bleach or some sort of cleaning product. It was very hard to get down. As I moved my sandwich out of the way to take a bite of my salad there was a long black hair IN my sandwich, to which would of been my next bite. I pulled the hair out and laid it on my napkin to show the server. Upon showing her, she acted as if she wasn't surprised. All she said was "want another one"? I replied "no I'm ok". (I'm not eating anything else from this place, are you kidding me?). The most disappointing part was that she didn't say sorry, no manager came over to apologize or see if we needed anything else. The tri-tip was comp'd off the bill, obviously someone was aware of the disgusting hair, but clearly no one cared. Red flag: that's alarming. It was hard for me to decide whether to rate a 2 or 3 star review, since my family all seemed to like what they had ordered. However, after contiplating it, a two star seemed more appropriate since this was my experience. *pictures shown are of my food and my boyfriends burger. I did not take a picture of the hair, as I was disgusted and in disbelief*

Parking 5/5 Always a challenge but coming early and doing the circle dance landed us a nice space across from the Liberty Market. Atmosphere 5/5 Such a cool restaurant with allot of history dating back to 1935/1958/2008/2022 which reflects the years of the establishments service and architecture evolutions. Always a great vibe here! Service 10/5 Our experience tonight began with the beautiful and friendly hostess Bailey. She greeted us with a warm smile and asked us what our seating presence was. We grabbed a booth overlooking Page street and the foot traffic outside. Our server tonight was Treven who joined us table side. He had our drink and starters in quickly. My wife ordered the Lucky Penny Latte and I had iced tea. Starter was their out of this world Burrata. The photos fall short of its glory. Entrees was their memorable minestrone soup, and I ordered their sesame ginger noodle salad featuring sweet potato glass noodles which are delicious and a host of smartly paired vegetables, chicken and a pleasant ginger sriracha delivering some spice and heat without overpowering the dish itself. For desert we fell way off the wagon with their in-house carrot cake. A slice easily feeds four and we enjoyed ours with espressos. Dinner was excellent from the service to the scratch kitchen food, and expressos, Magnifico! $125.00 with tip and leftovers too. Date night my friends-SYOY!

Shriveled basil and tiny pepperonis. Even worse, the bottom was black. Just awful. 1. Our waitress and other servers were all friendly. Nice vibe, clean and gender inclusive restrooms clean and tidy. A bunch of us from my spin class decided to get together on a Sunday for brunch and here's what I munched: Grande Chicken TInga Nachos ($18 - Shredded chicken tinga, queso, roasted tomato salsa, black beans, pico de gallo, roasted jalapeño, cilantro lime crema): Okay, maybe I don't recommend the nachos. While topped with a good amount of cheese on top, once congealed, any chip on the bottom that you pull out is just going to be a naked chip. They do top these chips off with a generous amount of toppings. Brunch Burger ($19 - Angus beef patty, sunny side egg, avocado, applewood smoked bacon, cheddar, sriracha aioli, hash brown patty, brioche bun, choice of fresh fruit or breakfast potatoes): I shared this burger and requested the kitchen to cut it for me which they did. Very thankful that they were okay with the request. The burger itself was decent. It was a little weird to eat as the tiny hash brown patty made the structural integrity funny but it's not a deal breaker. I will say that it needed more sauce or something. The burger was dry after a few bites. I also had my lunch with the most savory and spicy Bloody Mary. It was amazing and probably one of my favorite Bloody Marys in a long while. We came in with our family and three kids and sat on the patio since we were a larger group. After eating, our kids were sitting in chairs near our table, chatting and moving around a bit. The woman was shaking her head and saying to the waitress "this isn't okay to be doing while people are eating", pointing toward our kids. Once I realized this, I immediately called my kids back over and had them sit with us, and I even let her know that if something was bothering her, she could've told us and I would have addressed it right away.
