Just regular drip coffee poured out of a giant dispenser. It honestly felt like the coffee setup at an AA meeting. Breakfast for two, with relatively small plates, came to about $63 before tax and tip. For what we were served, the pricing felt absurd. The atmosphere was also strange and uncomfortable. There was free Plan B sitting out on the counter, along with a very overt political/social vibe throughout the restaurant. Believe whatever you want to believe, but it felt less like a welcoming diner and more like walking into someone's personal statement. What bothered me much more, though, was how people were treated. While we were there, a sweet older woman walked in and politely asked if she could get a pastry and coffee to go. The owner told her, "We don't do takeout, it's too busy." The woman complimented the place and said how nice it looked. She basically got an "oh" in response. Then she asked if there was anywhere nearby where she could grab something to eat. The response was essentially "no," delivered with what looked like complete annoyance. Not long afterward, a mother came in with her autistic daughter looking for lunch and was also met with a very abrupt response that they couldn't eat there. Watching those interactions honestly made everyone around us uncomfortable. Somehow the owner managed to make paying customers feel guilty for sitting there eating. After roughly a 45-minute wait, our food finally arrived -- with no silverware. We had to track someone down just so we could actually eat it. There were also flies trapped inside the blue-and-white cloud ceiling lights, which didn't exactly improve the experience. The whole place had an incredibly dark, hostile energy that is hard to describe unless you were there. If you're looking for the friendly, charming little Vermont diner experience, this absolutely was not it for us. The one bright spot was the young man working there. He was pleasant and seemed to be doing his best. Drinks are usually pretty good, beer options are on the bitter side. Menu has some really confusing weird and unnecessarily overpriced items like a Mac and cheese that comes in a pumpkin special for 50$ some other dinner options could run you 30 to 40$. For my money the fried green tomatoes blt is the best option and value, not on the menu for dinner but they will still make it. Flat bread pizza you could break a tooth on. Outdoor seating is nice. Forc Sunday brunch or mothers day this is a good option in town.
