Such a cute café! The service was great, the environment was super cute and welcoming, and the matcha was good. I also loved the nice outdoor chairs and tables. it's such a cute spot to sit and enjoy your drink. I absolutely loved my visit and will definitely be coming back!
Chapter 2. New day new review. We returned to The notebook cafe and it was almost as magical. I will say returning I felt very comfortable and welcomed. I ordered the banana cream matcha again and she ordered the biscoff matcha again however this time we added on a blueberry muffin. I will say the muffin tasted like a Costco muffin (this isn't a bad thing) but it's definitely not the same as other places that make their pastry's fresh in house daily. One thing that is nice is they offer 2 drink sizes. 16 and 20 oz and there is only a .50 cent difference between the two. I did just wonder if the amount of matcha is adjusted for the larger cup or are they the same and they just add more milk? Anywho I will have to look into that. I will say that they constantly have a line of several people however the line moves quickly which I appreciate greatly.
This cozy spot in Riverside is perfect for a quick bite or to sit and co work or read! I ordered the blueberry latte and blueberry bagel. I loved both options and our food and drinks came out pretty fast despite the long line. I highly recommend 9/10
The cutest little whimsical coffee shop. Everything from the color scheme to the books on the shelves, all of the little touches is just perfect. Upon walking in we were greeted, the staff was so friendly. It was my first time and the staff was so sweet and help walk through the menu and provide suggestions. Decided to get the Salted vanilla pistachio latte. Delicious! So many flavors hit you upon the first sip. It was suggested to get the hony drizzle on top and it didnt disappoint. The standard sandwich with jalapeño cheddar bread. Loaded with meat and toasted perfectly. Wish I had more jalapeño pieces, but it was good. Happy we made the drive from orange county to try this little shop.
Update review: Came back here a second time a few weeks after my first time going. Got the Banana Matcha this time and it was SO good. The banana taste was consistent throughout the drink, which I loved. Different workers there this time, but they were still very nice! They make the drinks pretty quick, considering there's only 2 workers helping.:)
Update: Someone messaged me about my review saying it was a complaint instead of a review. He didn't appreciate my "paragraphs" of my experience. I definitely will not be back. The Notebook Cafe sounds like a very cute concept and a new cafe in town! Being a month old(?), my fiancé and I wanted to see how it would be! Parking is a bit difficult, especially if you are trying to avoid paying for parking. It's unavoidable unless you stop for only a bit. The first 30 minutes are free and any longer you'd pay $3 an hour. You can use the Riverside Parking app because the QR codes on the street wouldn't load. When we walked in, the AC was blasting, but the door was left ajar. It was a bit counterintuitive, but understandable since their sign outside wasn't upright. We got in line, which snaked along the counter. It was a very small distance from a person sitting with their coffee versus the coffee line. The shop is very small. While in line, we looked at the menu and the pastries to our left. I tried to look around to see why they were called the notebook cafe, but alas, nothing hinted toward the name. I had ordered a banana cream latte and my partner ordered an espresso. We tried to sit and read, but didn't last longer than ten minutes. They had music blaring in the speakers and I couldn't hear myself think. Their banana cream latte definitely had cream and milk, yet there wasn't any coffee. It tasted like a melted ice cream pint instead of a caffeinated drink. Needless to say, I didn't drink more than half of my beverage before tossing it. In addition, it was very pricey. $8 is a lot for a 16 oz. I honestly wouldn't come back unless a big improvement was made. It wasn't unique and there wasn't much of a coffee taste in my drink. The cafe was small and I didn't feel comfortable sitting inside.
I was looking for a coffee shop with my fiancé and saw this new one pop up in Riverside and wanted to try it out. Came on a weekday afternoon. Finding parking wasn't too bad since we were able to get a spot but there is limited parking on the street and you only get 30 min free on week days, which is fine if you're only grabbing a coffee and going. I can only imagine it harder if it was a busy weekend. Upon arriving I see they had a flimsy sign on the ground noting the opening of the shop and two patio table seating in front of the shop. As soon as we enter, I notice how dark it is, given how bright it is outside. I think it was too dark. There were already a lot of people seated and in line and it felt really crowded and hard to move around. The bar felt really high, had too much on the counter, and did not feel welcoming at all. The staff took our order and we didn't really feel welcomed. They weren't mean but they weren't nice either. There were a lot of people behind the coffee bar so I assumed it wouldn't take long for our orders. I got the brown sugar shaken espresso and it was just really milky. I could not taste any coffee and the cream top and cinnamon was too much for the drink. My fiancé got the banana cream latte and it also was milky and no coffee taste with like a hint of banana. These type of drinks are our go to at any coffee shop if it is offered and this shop did not deliver on the drinks, unfortunately. Their menu and many of their drink offerings seem unique but nothing I would personally drink as it all seems too sweet for my taste. The Red Bull refreshers don't sound really refreshing at a coffee shop and would not be something I would want to try unless you really like Red Bull. As for the prices, I think they are WAY overpriced for such mediocre drinks. The music was blasting and loud for a coffee shop and I could barely hear myself talk or talk to my fiancé. This isn't a place I would want to go if I wanted to try to do some work or study. It is not a memorable coffee cafe. I was very disappointed in my experience at this coffee shop and would not go back at all.
Rich coffee! First off, who doesn't appreciate a cute locally owned coffee shop?! The ambiance is adorable...low lighting, intimate, darker colors, and just welcoming. The cashier was friendly and attentive. I believe they have only been open a week. Now for the coffee, it was absolutely strong and tasty and everything I like in a coffee. It's quickly going to become my favorite spot. I got the Iced Vanilla Latte w Half N Half, an extra shot of espresso, and Vanilla Cold Foam...and wow, talk about perfection! My husband got a Hot Americano w a pump of Vanilla and it was super hot just like he prefers. Overall, strong 5/5!! Try it out for yourself
This time we try the blueberry muffin and my pic doesn't make justice but it was soooo good, just like the perfect muffin texture, not to sweet and crispy on the outside. The place was very crowded I guess because is Monday and the quality of the matcha very good just like the first time we tried it. I ordered again the biscoff matcha and tried the banana matcha, I loved more mine LOL, good service and I like the lamps hanging from the ceiling, the warm light make the perfect ambience to start the week :)
Finding a coffee shop with great drinks is easy enough. Finding one with a beautiful atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer is a bit more special. The Notebook Cafe has a warm, inviting interior and a creative drink menu that made it hard to decide what to order. Thankfully, the coffee lived up to the presentation. It was smooth, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for. At the end of the day, that's what really matters. The stylish space is just a nice bonus, and it's a great addition to downtown Riverside's coffee scene.
New neighborhood coffee shop in the downtown area. Right across the street from the post office. Line does get long so plan ahead. Inside is quaint with high top table or seating along the wall. Also patio 3 tables on the sidewalk. Staff were welcoming and friendly, keeping up with T the rush of guests, espresso was great! Double shot over ice was refreshing on the hot day. Gave some pep to my step. Street parking only. There's a few limited parking spots right in front otherwise will need to pay at the meter. Parking garage a block away. Single restroom for customers. Would definitely return!
I had been wanting to check this place since it opened and I'm so glad that I stopped by . When I walked in I was greeted by the cashier and he explained the menu to me . I decided on the honey pistachio salted ice latte with oat milk and sugar free vanilla cold foam . I also got the avocado pistachio toast with honey because it's sounded interesting . The drinks and food came out fairly quickly . I really enjoyed the ice latte it had a nice balance of flavor and it had the perfect amount of sweetness . The pistachio avocado toast with honey was interesting . It was good but it had a little too much pistachios for my taste but still good none the less . The ambience in the place was super cute was well and it had a nice aesthic .
Cute new place, wanted to check it out. Really liked the vibe/decor, service was ok. I asked for recommendation and the barista suggested the Salted Vanilla Pistachio latte. $8 The drink was not good. It was maybe a 3/10. It didn't have a pistachio /vanilla flavor, the salt was overpowering the cold foam and the cold foam tasted just like regular heavy whipping cream. I was also expecting a cute aesthetic cup like shown all over there IG and i got a basic clear cup. Not a good first impression for sure. May try it again, but likely won't go out of my way. I hope you have a better experience.

The Notebook Cafe is such a cute little gem! I stopped by with my bestie and we both loved it. I ordered the Butterscotch Latte and she got the Pistachio Latte... both were absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is cozy, cute, and inviting, making it the perfect spot to grab a coffee, catch up with your bestie, or just relax for a bit. I love discovering local coffee shops with their own unique vibe, and The Notebook Cafe definitely did not disappoint! Definitely adding this one to my favorites. Can't wait to come back and try more from their menu! read more

I work across the street from this cafe and as much as I wanted to like this place and support this small business. Every time I have came it's been a bad experience. The first time I came the wait time to get your drink was ridiculous. Which in all honesty it was bound to happen due to it being new spot. The coffee is not the great for the price of them. I will say the matcha is a good taste when there's no agave or sweetener (which will be for the 1 star). My experience however with a few employees here have been horrible. I ordered the Strawberry matcha expecting to have the strawberry matcha foam/strawberries - employee there (didn't get her name) said it didn't come with it unless I added it. Which was false because then her coworker told her it was supposed to be added since it was a "strawberry matcha drink." That same day as I was leaving I tripped over their exit. No help or assistances whatsoever (there was a sheriff there that did check on me - which was so thoughtful). My other bad experience was with an employee there named Ashley. She didn't put a lid on my strawberry matcha drink and as I processed to add the lid it spilled all over my hands, it was all over the counter, and my phone. No assistances until it kept leaking. After trying to clean it up, Ashley got a rag and cleaned it & "need to be careful" I asked her if I need to request to put a lid on so this didn't happen in the future & she totally ignored me. Her attitude was uncalled for. Please don't expect to have the customer sip on the drink just because you accidentally over filled the drink - what if the drink wasn't for me? After trying to like this place (even made a cute TikTok video of this place - which I will update with my experiences) I will not be coming back! read more

I'm so disappointed in this place. I had high hopes because you can clearly see the vision, but their lack of customer service is inexcusable. I don't care how cute you try to make the place appear. When I noticed reviews being hidden at the very bottom of the page, under "not recommended," I had a suspicion, but I never judge a place without my own experience. Now that I've gone 3+ times I can honestly say that the coffee is not worth the price, nor the poor attitude / experience you get being there. Customer service is mediocre at best. The drinks are cute to look at but too sweet to drink. The sourdough bread is dry. The wait times are absurd. And most importantly, the owner doesn't seem to care to take accountability or right his employees wrongs even if it's right in front of him. My experience is my own, so take it as you will, but they just lost a loyal customer. Do better. read more
Where do I begin. The flan dessert? The coffee? The ambiance? Or the personalities behind the counter? There's so much to unwrap in this brand new little coffee shop in the heart of Downtown Riverside. The decor is modern and was kept nice and clean. The owners John and Michael were so welcoming and made me feel like I was ordering as a friend rather than a customer. John gave me a solid recommendation for the Salted Vanilla Pistachio Latte. We also got to try the Banana Flan as well as the Ube flan which both had the best flan texture but my favorite was definitely Banana. The owners even came out to check up on us and asked how we were doing and wanted our genuine feedback which shows how passionate they are about growing their business and offering exceptional service. Just after today's visit I know I'll be coming back to try everything off their menu! read more

I remember how excited everyone was when this coffee shop was getting ready to open. After a few visits, that excitement has been replaced with disappointment. The customer service is lacking, and it seems like the business tries to hide it. The owner also appears unable to handle constructive criticism, often responding to negative reviews in an unprofessional manner. Paying premium prices for drinks only to get a side of sass/attitude isn't worth it. On one visit, I ordered a completely sugar-free cold brew with sugar-free vanilla and sugar-free strawberry cold foam. The employee repeatedly tried to convince me to order the regular vanilla cold foam instead. I politely declined several times, explaining that I specifically wanted the sugar-free option because I'm trying to reduce my sugar intake. He then insisted he could make the vanilla cold foam sugar-free, completely ignoring the drink I had actually ordered. I eventually had to firmly ask for my original order. A customer shouldn't have to go back and forth just to receive something that's clearly offered on the menu. Afterward, other regular customers told me they believed the shop had run out of the strawberry cold foam used for their strawberry matchas and was trying to get me to order something else instead. If that's true, that's an inventory issue, not the customer's problem. If an item is unavailable, they should simply say so rather than repeatedly pushing a different order, which only reinforces my concerns about how the business is managed. read more

This place absolutely nailed it. The açaí bowl was incredibly fresh and delicious -- you can really taste the quality of the ingredients, and everything felt perfectly balanced. Not overly sweet, just clean and refreshing. I also tried their Ghirardelli caramel coffee with salted caramel foam, and it was so good. The sweetness was just right, and the foam added a nice touch without being overpowering or too heavy, which I really appreciated. Overall, such a great experience from start to finish. Everything felt thoughtfully made, and I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Everything about this place is amazing from the moment you walk in, i usually get the dulce de leche late and the standard sandwich but i've tried about every latte and the rest of the food and it is all really good including the service it sucks that most of the bad reviews are about long waits during busy times and not the wait time from when you order to when you get your stuff -_- but other than that im happy to see most of the tik tok posts are positive reviews Message to the owners, i see another shop owner is not really happy you're around and they keep trying to bash your name but remember like Eazy E said "all publicity is good publicity" read more

I've been to the Notebook Cafe twice for matcha and have had great experiences each time. The first time, I went around 4:30pm so it wasn't busy at all. I got the banana cream matcha which is sweetened with agave and it was perfectly sweet. My daughter got the banana cream latte and she wanted her latte to be sweeter. They don't use agave for their coffee lattes. The second time I stopped by, was around 10am. There was a line, but it went by fast. I appreciate they have iced cucumber water to drink at the entrance since it's been so hot lately. I got the cookie butter matcha and loved it. The only negative is that the place is small and seating is close to the line where you order. They also have some tables outside. Parking is on the street and you have to pay for metered parking. You can find some parking spots that are for 30 minutes down the street. That's where I parked the first time. The second time I went by, I walked since I don't work too far from here. read more

I couldn't wait until this cute spot opened up and when it did, it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting and to top it off, the chill music made me just want to sit and drink my coffee all day, while bobbing my head. The coffee is delicious too! I've had at least three different coffee flavors and each of them gets a 10 out of 10 from me. My favorite is the salted pistachio with cold foam. Lastly, but definitely not least, the service was top notch. The staff were so kind and knowledgeable of the menu and we even shared some laughs while I waited for them to complete my order, which wasn't long at all. Ultimately I'd recommend this place to anyone who wants to drink gourmet coffee, grab a tasty bite while vibing. You won't regret it! read more

I was excited to try this place since I've been following their IG page for awhile. Yet, I was somewhat let down when I went for a latte during my lunch break today. It is small inside, but the decor is cute and fits the vibe they are going for. The barista that took my order was nice and nice enough to let me know they were backed up on drinks... That's where the disappointment set it. With staff trying to get caught up on ALOT of lattes, I ordered a match (less backed up). Maybe The Notebook Cafe is still trying to figure out a system that works or weren't prepared for heavy foot traffic.. but having to wait 45+ minutes for a drink is not okay. I'll wait for foot traffic to die down until I give this cafe another shot. Until then, if you want to try it yourself, be prepared to wait (depending on the day?). read more

Atmosphere is cute. Drink was decent. Bagel had zero flavor. The rating is for the customer service. I went on a Friday morning and there was not a single other customer. I walked in and there was no greeting. That's okay. There were three young women working there chatting away and didn't acknowledge me. Still okay I guess. But when I went to order and said good morning, I didn't get a greeting in response. So I said good morning again, and again no acknowledgment, the cashier simply asked what I wanted. I ordered and waited for my drink - a banana biscoff latte which was good. Someone called my name and left my drink at the counter. Didnt ask if I needed anything. I grabbed my drink and waited for my bagel. Again someone called my name and just left my bagel at the counter. I had to search around for napkins and asked where they were and no one answered. The three women just continued to stand in their huddle gossiping and chatting away. I wanted to like this place so much. Beautiful café with delicious drinks. The coffee was rich and flavorful, and the matcha was excellent as well. Unfortunately, the service left us feeling a little disappointed. While standing in line, a staff member in a white shirt and hat was handing out samples and completely skipped over my fiancée and me. Later, after we sat down waiting for our drinks, he came around with more samples and avoided us again. It may not have been intentional, but being overlooked twice while everyone else got one..definitely changed the energy of our visit. We had planned to stay and enjoy the café, but decided to leave after getting our drinks. We'd still come back because the drinks were great, but hopefully the customer experience feels a bit more welcoming next time... read more

So I've seen all the hype. Not sure if it's worth it YET. They just opened the 13th and I came a week after. The cafe is on Main St, right in downtown. I arrived on a Saturday morning around 9am. The line was almost out the door. Inside, the cafe's aesthetic was like a study, contemporary, with dark colors. Or reminds me of a library. It can get crowded pretty quick, since it's a pretty narrow space. There is restroom down the hall, towards the back and there are two accents walls. At the front counter, there is a patty shelf with muffins and bread. The menu is on a paper sized display, with laminated menus as well. I saw they offered lattes, espresso, matcha, cold foam, and specialty drinks. There are two sizes, 16 and 20oz. For food, I saw just sandwiches (not breakfast), toast, and an açaí bowl. I decided to get the 16oz Ghirardelli Caramel latte with whole milk. I paid around $8 with some change. It takes a bit to receive, since there was lot of people. Luckily there was seating. Once I received it, I tasted it. I did taste the caramel but not much of the chocolate. Not very impressed YET, but I would come back. read more

I've been twice now, they are great! The sandwiches are good and well priced compared to nearby spots. I'm surprised at the 1 star reviews, it seems like people experienced hiccups because the service has been great every time I have visited! read more
I went during their soft open so I knew there was still going to be some hiccups but these weren't hiccups, they were real issues that hopefully have been fixed but I'll be waiting a couples of months until I go again. The man who took our order was super friendly loved him and then it all went downhill from there. We got one drink probably 5 mins after we ordered and then the second one came probably 25 mins after that... I received the first one and they said they would bring out our second one shortly so we waited, and waited, 10 mins went by and I went inside to see maybe they had it at the bar. They didn't, the man who took our order was like you haven't received your second drink? Let me see what's going on. Well he had a talk with his baristas and they were like oh we didn't know what you wrote so we didn't do it. Wild to me and to him but he told them what it was and went on with taking orders. I stood back a bit, another 5 mins went by and I believe the owner asked me if I was still waiting for anything, I told him I was for a while now, now he went back to the baristas to talk to them. He told me it would be out shortly. Another 5 mins went by and they have been calling out other orders left and right. And again no drink for me :/ the owner guy went back again and asked them again and his baristas finally said it was just getting the ice. I finally got my second drink, just a caramel latte... nothing fancy. By that the time my first drink was watered down and not great. Second drink was whatever. I was really looking forward to this spot opening since I work downtown. Maybe I'll give it another try in a couple months. One star for the man taking our order and another for the cookie we also ordered. That was good. read more

I was on my way back from a nail appointment in Riverside and stopped at this coffee shop. It is cute and clean so that was a plus. When I went they were very busy so to me that's a good sign because it means their drinks must be good. I got a dulce de leche latte with an extra shot of espresso, so 3 shots total. It was $8 for the drink and the cashier was polite so I tipped $3. The drink was flat and flavorless. The barista gave attitude to the cashier when she was trying to notify her that my drink was made incorrectly because it was pure milk with one shot of espresso. Once the barista re-made my drink , it was still flavorless. Tried it out and not my cup of coffee for $11 :( read more
