Stopped in to buy tire liners; would've paid for installation if the price was fair. Quoted $44 for Tire Armor inserts and $20 for the liners. I agreed on the liners but the second we stepped outside to get my bike, the rep hit me with, "Oh, install is $20 per tire". I chuckled and walked. So $88 for inserts or $40 just to slip in liners? I recently got into biking and Bill and Jose has been so incredibly helpful to me. Bill helped me find the right bike and was so in patient helping me figure out all the right adjustments. He genuinely cares about making sure I have a great riding experience. He even spent time teaching me a better way to get on and off the bike when he saw me struggling. I think I've honestly spent over 3.5 hrs of dedicated time with him. Jose helped me order a new bike, assemble it from scratch and then adjust just about everything from the dropper to the seat position to the handle width to the handle height and more. He's a pro. Went to this shop to buy a quality bike for my daughter to ride to school. Paid over $500 for a Liv bike that constantly had problems. My girl would ride it to school- she's not rough on it, but several times she would call me as the bike would break. At least 3 times the tire went flat, or the chain would fall off. One time I was with her when the back tire went flat. I walked the bike with the flat and then out of nowhere the front brake jammed making it impossible to roll the bike. Here's the thing, I used to work in a bike shop and lead bike tours so I know how to fix bikes but this brake was impossible to fix without tools on me. Then I lifted up the bike to walk it home on one wheel when the entire chain just fell off. Crapy bike! Horrible customer service! This bike ship is far from my house so I wasn't able to get back to them easily and after spending another $400 to get it repaired constantly from other shops I called The Off Ramp. The female manager said since we are "past the year warranty there is nothing we can do to fix your bike". (I was only 4 months past warranty.) They offered to do nothing except pay several hundred for a tune up. No thanks. I even told them that is bad customer service & I would write an unfavorable review and they could care less. ---DO NOT SHOP HERE--- You lost us (and hopefully many others) as a customer. - Annoyed mom read more

Has a decent choice of bicycles (was surprised that they were one of hte few stores during the pandemic to have Giant Stance and Trance mountain bike models (while most other stores were sold out or had a 1-2 month wait times). The staff do not seem to be as enthusiastic to help as some of the other local stores. During the pandemic, most of the stores are selling everything at retail and so is The Off Ramp: not surprising. My bike's break stand broke and I came here to fix it. I came and nobody was at the shop. They said wait 20-30 minutes. I waited and the person in the front did not tell me if they are going to be able to fix it. The employee said the mechanic would fix it. The mechanic was the only person there being very disrespectful to me. He got mad at the employees and said it was their fault. This store's mechanic is very disrespectful and does not help. It would only take 5-10 minutes and all the mechanic told me was "it will not be able to get fixed today". I waited 3 hours. I will not come back here again. I thought going to a local bike shop would be best way to get my 4 year old properly fitted for a bike helmet ... wrong! The gentlemen who helped me somewhat adjusted the straps. I pulled the helmet and it moved exposing his forehead. I asked if we should tighten straps more, and he said that we "didn't want to strangle him" with the strap and that the dial-in system was sufficient. I got home and read the directions, they say to make sure helmet doesn't move with straps and that the dial system is for comfort and does not add protection (see photo of directions). also, directions said to make straps even, which they were not. I am very disappointed with that salesperson and how they set my son up for physical harm with a poor fitting helmet. I strongly do not recommend this store due to these safety concerns. read more

My family & I went in yesterday 5/21 looking for bikes that we can attach a baby seat on. We have no knowledge of bikes, but we browsed around anyway. We were greeted by Keishawn F. and assured us if we need help, to help him. We asked him a few questions and he answered them, he seems to know what he's talking about. As the time of picking a bike, Keishawn was busy, and we saw Jose O. was available for questions. He let my husband try the bike he wanted and my husband was in LOVE! Plus, we could attach a baby seat on. Jose helped us get 2 adult bikes, a baby seat, a bike rack and all of the other necessities we needed. Jose O. took the time to make sure we were happy with our purchases, he even attached the bike rack on my SUV and made sure it would fit properly. At the end of our visit to the store, we were satisfied and happy customers. 5/22: We went on a small bike ride last night and I didn't feel good about my Electra Cruiser, the coaster break was something I can't get used to. So I called the store around 10am and Keishawn answered and told me their return policy, I had forgot to ask yesterday as I was too excited for my bike. I went back to the store around 11am and tried a bike that was the same as my husband but smaller, fitting to my build. I loved it and decided I wanted to get it. Keishawn helped me with the exchange and I paid the difference, he also taught me how to use the different gears of the bike and also lowered the seat down for me. I also noticed when I was driving to the store today that the bike rack was leaning towards one side and was a little flimsy. I made Jose known of the situation and he helped me fix it and level it and made sure it was propert on. I ABSOLUTELY love the service we got and we appreciate all the help from the staff there today and yesterday. We will definitely be back once our son is big enough to have a bike on his own. All in all the Off Ramp is a solid family targeted bike shop. They sell a lot of recreational level bikes of all styles from little kid's bikes to adult road, mountain and hybrids. If you are are looking for Treks, Specialized, Santa Cruz and other higher end bikes they have a few high end bikes but not a shop full. They have a fair amount of accessories for a modern bike shop which I appreciate. Their service area always looks pretty busy although as a DIYer I have not required their service. The folks there are always nice to deal with too. Big parking lot but it can be a bit tricky pulling out depending on the cycle of the San Tomas light. read more

Man I cannot understand the polarity of the reviews here. Great bikes, the Giant brand speaks for itself. Great high quality bikes but no real racing program that are subsidized by bike sales (looking at you specialized and trek, twice the price for less bike). The accessories and peripherals are all high quality (park tool, bell, etc) and priced quite competitively for the range. And great capable service for repairs and maintenance to keep the bikes performing great for years to come. You can find rims and helmets cheaper on amazon, but they are often inferior, knock offs, or come damaged. You can buy more expensive bikes, but not necessarily better. You can go somewhere where a sales guy will kiss your feet and sell you overpriced garbage, or you can come here, buy a great bike with a great warranty (that they honor to a fault) and pay a fair or even below market price! read more

They took a look at my bike and quoted 120 dollars which i was fine with. Then when i arrived i found out the new price was 274 dollars because they needed 2 new 80 dollar rotors (which go for 33 dollars on Amazon) They went ahead and did the change without my ok. The bike looks good, but i did not approve doing the change in my bike. These guys had the bike and spent some time giving an estimate. If you are going to give an estimate you should honor your initial price not more than double it later. read more

I've gotten a few things here, like rim tape, a seat post, and handgrips, much cheaper than the other store nearby. They did a great job installing the seat on the post without a tilt. But I wonder if they're under new management now, because I didn't recognize the people there today and they were rude. I took the bus from San Jose to get chain tensioners shown on their website. I spent over an hour last night trying to get the chain tension right on my cruiser and I finally gave up--the wheel just keeps shifting forward in the slots when I tighten the nuts on the axle and the coaster brake arm. Instead of just telling me they don't have the ones on the website, or that what I need for my bike is a Surly HurdyGurdy, the salesperson shows me a different type of chain tensioner that wouldn't work on my bike and acts like I'm stupid. He then argues with me about buying washers at a bike shop vs. a hardware store and asks "How many bike shops did you go to before you gave up and went to a hardware store?" in a sarcastic voice. I told him I came to buy parts, not argue, and walked out. I went to the pricey bike shop and they looked up the part on the computer and offered to order it for me. I thought The Off Ramp had it in stock, so I thanked him but said I couldn't wait 2 weeks to get my chain fixed up right. Back down El Camino Real... and the counter guy at The Off Ramp told me with a smirk they don't have the Sunlite tensioner I wanted. I told him the website said it was in stock. He smirked and said "The website says a lot of things that aren't true" because they don't bother to update it when things sell out. I walked out again and realized I didn't have time to go back and order the part at the bike shop by Target. I told a friend about the poor service at The Off Ramp, and she said they sold her roommate a U-Lock with a complicated frame mount and didn't even offer to install the mount for him. He's kind of a doofus so he asked her to install it. The frame mount was a pain for her (and she's a bike repair volunteer for SBDC) because it was badly designed (she's also a mechanical engineer) so she figures they just didn't want to take the time. It's probably a good thing I didn't order the Sunlite tensioner, because it's for rear-facing horizontal dropouts. I finally found a website with more pictures that made it clear it wouldn't work on front-facing horizontal dropouts. I need something like a Surly HurdyGurdy for front-facing dropouts. I'll see if the store by Target can order those. read more

What the flying F*** - I remember going to The Off Ramp providing awesome customer service. The people that worked here in the past were nice and knowledgeable. They now have a bunch of lazy hooligans manning the store. I dropped off my Dads bike for service. The techs are actually really cool and helpful. I was provided a quote and was in/out of there in no time. I came back 5 days later to pick up the bike and was "helped" by someone who was lazy and annoyed when I even told him that I was there to pick up the bike. He pulled out the bike, ripped the paper off, walked to the back, walked passed me to help someone else. Like hello?! Do I pay by the service area or by the cashier? Are you going to ring me up or what?! I just stood there fuming as there was only me and another guy in the store. One of the techs came out and said, "Have you been helped?" And I said I just need to pay. The man there just ended up helping someone else. Do I pay here (by service) or there by the cashier." And the tech ended up helping me out and understood my frustration. No doubt, this place always has awesome techs and prices are competitive and reasonable, but when you have a bunch of losers manning the storefront then all else fails. Went in because I needed air from a compressor. Was 90% done with a tire swap, new tire on, 2bliss sealant inside, just needed a quick burst of air to seat the bead on the tire to the rim. Wasn't expecting a $20 charge for air...sad part is, had I gone to REI (a corporate conglomerate) they probably would have given me air for free considering I did all the heavy lifting. Visit the store because I wanted to buy a new bike today. Ready to spend money and eager to get something. Walked in and no one was around. I checked out the bikes and walked around the store. No other customers. A couple guys came out from the back, joked around with each other, and just hung out. No one greeted me or offered to help. Total ignorance. Soon they finished chatting and went into the back again. One guy stayed around the counter but was playing with his phone. No acknowledgement of me at all. Finally after 5 more minutes of just walking around the empty store (still no other people around), I went up to him and asked if they sold bikes there. He looked up from his phone, replied yes, and then went back to his phone. No emotion whatsoever. Terrible service, and not worthy to take my money! Immediately left. I've recently picked up bike riding again. I'd not done so for over a decade, so it was fun discovering that yes, I was still capable of riding one. I've been borrowing my sister's bike, a Raleigh, to do laps around the neighborhood, but my dad decided that with me graduating my Master's program this weekend, a bicycle of my own would be a perfect graduation gift. So we started the search for my future bike. We ended up going to four different stores before winding up at The Off Ramp. First we went to Target, mostly so we could get some other essentials, but also as a starter to see what bikes they had in stock. Then we went to Sports Basement, where the bikes were a bit too expensive for our price range of $400-ish. Then we went to Sports Authority, where the prices were good, but the bike selection was a bit small (but at least they had two possible options). Then we finally ended up at The Off Ramp. The Off Ramp was definitely a good fourth choice because we'd seen enough bikes to know the price range and I had a general idea of what I wanted. We were helped out by a guy named Chris. He was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly! I told him I wanted something light, since I'd be having to carry the bike over stairs at times, and he helped me look at a few different bikes. We looked at two light cruisers, but then he took me over to check out the foldable bikes. The previous day, I had been researching bikes and had come across foldable bikes, which I had never seen or heard about before. I liked the concept, but was discouraged after reading complaints that the bike was uncomfortable to ride. Chris put my fears to rest. He explained that the bikes could gradually become more comfortable of a fit the more you rode it. He also let me try it out in the parking lot, and it really wasn't bad at all.
