Breakfast until 3 pm, various kinds of European pancakes made from scratch, and friendly staff -- a local tipped us to this place and we were glad of it. I had the abelskeivers (mentioned in 2 other reviews) plain, which means with powdered sugar and blackberry brandy sauce and applesauce on the side. They were delicious. The sauce was perfect with the flavors of both major ingredients. We had a great discussion with our waitress about what to do about her mean dog, and why it's OK to crave chocolate. Food was delicious. But that wait was horrible. We got out coffee in a French press which was so good. But then waited 30 mins for our food to come out. We were hungry people, the cinnamon roll is so good! The service was super friendly. And enjoyable. Really loud since they seem to be so busy. So couldn't really hear. read more

It's very inconsistent. The first time I came I thought "it's not the best, but it's he beat in Pullman." The price is too expensive for mediocre. I went once more with friends and I absolutely loved it. It was an amazing experience and I wanted to go again. The next few times I went it wasn't as great. When I went for my birthday the food was horrible and I didn't even get a birthday dessert. For the price im paying I would like consistency. I understand things are homemade but there is no excuse to charge that much to be inconsistent. Won't come back. So if anyone wants a coupon I have one cause that's how they tried to convince me they were sorry. read more

The fresh squeezed OJ, pancakes and service were exceptional. The omelets were just ok and particularly the biscuits and gravy was just inedible. I should have charged THEM the extra 2$ for making me eat them versus the other way around. Just like eating a sponge (I would imagine, anyway.) It's just OKAY. I don't quite understand the appeal of this place. The big portions and great service still doesn't make up for the honestly bland good. The ibelskievers or however they're spelled are good, so are the crepes, a little thicker than I like but the orange zest is nice. The frozen strawberries aren't the greatest. This eatery isn't all that it chalks itself up to be. They like to announce, with pride, that every item is "homemade", which is untrue. For instance, their biscuits are made with a boxed mix. One of my first visits to Old European was a huge disappointment. I ordered their potato and vegetable scramble and it arrived looking fresh and tasty. I enthusiastically took a bite but then felt a sharp, large object on my tongue. I removed it and found a 1" x 1" shard of white ceramic, most likely from a broken plate. When I informed the server, she acted very casual and did not even inform the kitchen staff. So, here I was, shaken and hungry. Good thing it didn't rip up my esophagus! read more

Love this place! I rarely go there with friends, since it's more expensive than our usual grub, but whenever my parents visit we always make a trip to the "Old Euro" as we all call it. I love the abelskivers, and they also have a fantastic tomato basil soup! Highly recommend. read more

Not sure how this place could get anything but a 5 star review :) I'm new to town and came to check out a potential apartment back in June. My mother, grandmother and I stopped in here for breakfast before leaving town and were not disappointed! Mumsie (g-ma) and I ordered sausage and cheese appleskeivers (man I'm sure I botch that spelling ) and mom got potato pancakes! Everything was so delicious and our waitress was seriously the best! She took the time to explain the menu with us, chit chat about the Pullman area and even brought us a free sample of the berry flavored Apple-thingy-merbobs. I had some tea with breakfast, and unfortunately I'm a tea snob and don't care for tea in bags but hey, not everywhere carries a large assortment of loose leaf. Mom got French press coffee and was so happy with it! All in all it was a spectacular meal and we plan to go back tomorrow morning, since we're back in town! read more

Yuck. Craptastic service. Mediocre food. I am stunned to see a line out front on busy WSU weekends. You'll get better service at the McDonald's on South Grand in the mall parking lot. I don't need snotty waitstaff to give me awful food. How this place stays in business is a true mystery. read more

Today my mom and I had the pleasure of having breakfast at The Old European! We're currently staying at the Hampton Inn and thought we would have breakfast there; however they had a meltdown but I think they were poorly staffed. Poor kitche crew :-( ANYWAYS! Amanda was our server and boy is she the Coug's roar! She introduced herself very professionally and personally, and gave a quick rundown of the menu and the story behind the restaurant. Not only was the service prompt and attentive, the entire atmosphere was friendly and welcoming! We ordered French toast with bananas and whip and by Golly was it delicious. We also had an egg scramble, which was fresh and bright. The house gave us complementary WhatchaMaCallims (their signature European balls; the savory ones), which were also superb. What's nice about the food here is that it's not overbearingly sweet or heavy, but it's delicious and fills you up perfectly. A little pricey for your average college student, but when you do have those days where you need to treat yo'self, this is the Haven to come to. read more

This is the type of place you need to go to once when visiting Pullman, but not more than that. There is always a wait, but the food is good. However, unless you are a logger that needs 10,000 calories a day, this place should be visited sparingly. read more

I LOVE OLD EURO! I wish there was one over in Seattle!! The hot cakes are the best I have EVER had from any restaurant in my life. Can't go wrong with the Abelskivers either. The only reason this place gets 4 outta 5 stars is the fact that they will nickel and dime you for everything. For example, if you want to SHARE one of their GIANT plates they will charge you like a buck for that. If you want to split the tab, they will charge another buck for that. They will also charge you 5 bucks for 8oz of their precious fresh squeezed OJ...honestly I have had better from the grocery store and I hate pulp. The other reason why this place gets 4 stars is because it is ALWAYS crowded on the weekends. Good luck getting a table after 9:30am! This place makes so much money, especially during all the special weekends WSU puts on. Stop being stingy and money greedy and expand into a bigger FRICKEN location! The cream cheese cinnamon roll is amazing! My husband ordered the traditional goulash which was good but a bit heavy on the onions and peppers. The portion was ridiculous! We had that for leftovers at least twice. The atmosphere however reminds me of a run down Denny's, with better service. Not to mention I don't think whoever decorated the inside has ever been to Europe. It didn't help that we had the worst table in the whole restaurant, right in front of the kitchen. But I guess you don't go to places like this for the atmosphere! Not sure if I'll go back. read more

My son moved to Pullman for a new job and we were checking out the area today and ended up here for a late morning brunch. We found a few options around Pullman, but so glad we stopped by here. Our server, Madison was very attentive and explained the uniqueness of their restaurant, which made it another good choice. The food was very good! All handmade and fresh with their own cinnamon rolls, raspberry preserves, and even their own homage hot sauce made by scratch! They serve coffee French Press style as well as fresh OJ or a homemade Arnold Palmer with citrus squeezed in the restaurant. For those familiar with Solvang in California, this place rocks with their own recipe of Danish Aebelskivers which are either served sweet or savory. The food was very good, served hot and fresh and service impeccable! And since we were "new" customers, we were given a $5 gift card. They are open til 2pm, but the perfect place for breakfast or lunch and plenty to choose from. This place is a for-sure hit and I imagine quite busy on the weekends, so show up early. First time here. Breakfast this morning with granddaughter. It's Dad's Weekend at WSU and the place was packed yet we waited only a short time for a table and our meal was served promptly. I had the goulash with gravy and a side of potato pancakes. The goulash is a real treat but VERY filling. Pancakes come with applesauce and sour cream and are equally delicious. Granddaughter had crepes with apples and loved it. Her side of bacon was cooked crispy exactly as she ordered it. Because we were first timers we received a $5 gift card and complimentary Aebelskivers. I think both are a nice touch. The service couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating. If there's a drawback.....well, it is a bit pricey but the portions are more than ample. We'll be visiting our granddaughter from time to time at WSU and will no doubt make one trip to this restaurant per visit. It's that good! read more

The old European - five stars! I've only eaten here three times, but it's safe to say that this is Pullmans best restaurant as far as price and quality. This restaurant has flavors that would appease just about anyone's taste buds. Right off the bat the best thing here is the fresh squeezed orange juice. They have a machine inside the restaurant that squeezes the oranges daily - it's really cool. It's a little expensive for the orange juice, but hey they have to squeeze a lot of oranges to fill a glass. My favorite here are there various pancakes. They have these little pancakes shaped like a sphere that are absolutely delicious. Their eggs and sausage is also amazing. I believe that they put a lot of care and work into each one of the meals served here. The staff is really nice - they know how to talk to people with humor and otherwise to generally create a wonderful atmosphere for the customer. The staff will check up on you often and always keep an eye on you to see if you were enjoying your meal and if there's anything you need. First thing you will notice when you walk in this restaurant is that it looks very nice on the inside and then two seconds later someone will bring you to your table.
