Last night my family and I visited The Old Spaghetti Factory to celebrate my mom's birthday. The atmosphere was incredible, and the food and drinks were absolutely wonderful--everything we ordered was delicious and really made the night feel special. Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the rest of the experience. From the very beginning, our waiter came across as disengaged and uninterested. When he first approached the table, he literally tossed straws onto the table with no greeting or acknowledgment. For a split second, it felt like we were at Dick's Last Resort--except without the humor. While he did take our drink orders, there was a noticeable delay, and when he returned, he only brought waters and soft drinks without any communication about the rest. The interactions throughout the night felt rushed and inattentive. When taking our appetizer order, he moved on to another table immediately without checking if we needed anything else. Later, he briefly returned, pointed, and said "this?" to confirm the order, then left again. One positive note--he memorized all of our orders without writing anything down, and everything came out correctly. That was genuinely impressive. I understand that service jobs can be mentally taxing, and I truly empathize with that. We were also a party of seven and requested multiple checks (4-5), which I recognize can be more complex and time-consuming. That said, the overall lack of attentiveness and professionalism was still disappointing, especially for a special occasion. With food and atmosphere this strong, the service should match. read more

This was our first trip to this Old Spaghetti Factory in lovely Downtown Indianapolis. The entrance was so neat! It is a glass surrounded foyer reminiscent of a turn of the century store front. The aesthetic and ambiance is very dark moody almost speakeasy looking. Candelabra's and velvet everywhere! We had a reservation for 815 pm on a Saturday night, it was very busy and we were seated promptly upstairs in the very cozy bar area. Our waitress was kind and attentive, all items were delivered quickly. We ordered the lasagna, fettuccine Alfredo, and a chicken Alfredo with mushrooms for my husband. The lasagna was delicious! The sausage was excellent inside of it and the noodles were al dente. The fettuccine Alfredo was oh Lordy, good!! Very buttery creamy and decadent. My husband loved the chicken on his Alfredo, he said the flavors were great. We were offered dessert to go after the meal. That was so nice as we were stuffed! The ice cream was delicious! The food was delicious. I've eaten at several of these restaurants over the years and the quality is always great--hot, fresh, flavorful. I also love that each entree comes with bread, salad and dessert. The service at this location was rough. I came here with my mom & two young children on a very quiet Tuesday evening around 5pm. Wasn't busy at all. We were seated right away at a great table by a window. Our server was nice-ish... when we saw him, which was a total of like, 3 times. Our cocktails took almost 30 minutes to come out. My mom had to ask the hostess if they'd bring them out soon (she was very polite but said to check with our server, but we couldn't because he was MIA, ha). They finally came out in pint glasses, which was odd for a sangria and lemon martini..? Always, the server didn't even apologize for the delay or check in frequently after that. Once our food came out it was almost an hour-long venture and my kids were losing their marbles (as was I). It also still wasn't busy yet, so I have no clue what our server was doing. I have a lot of patience and understanding with slow service during a busy dinner rush, but this was just obnoxious. We finally flagged him down for our checks and asked for the desserts to go. We were in town for an event and needed to feed 25+ people. We called the Old Spaghetti Factory and they were able to split us into three groups and accommodated everyone! It's been a while since I've been here but the place doesn't age! They still have a trolley car for dining, huge wooden tables and high back chairs. We had to wait about 10 minutes but the place was packed and we didn't mind waiting. We had a huge table in the center of the restaurant. Our server was great and worked with our three separate checks and kids orders. Our family ordered the chicken marsala, chicken piccata, garlic shrimp fettuccine Alfredo, and kids fettuccine Alfredo with a side of chicken. Made a mini stop in Indy on the way back home to Chicago and everyone was getting hangry. Mommy was craving pasta and Lo and behold The Old Spaghetti Factory came up in my search. Upon entering the restaurant you feel a sense of nostalgia like you are being transported back in time. The decor gave a soothing old school feel like you were about to eat a great dinner with family. We were greeted right away and only waited about 10 minutes to be seated on a Sunday afternoon. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp and it came with a side of salad and complimentary warm bread. The salad was a nice little starter and the ranch dressing was really good. The fettuccine alfredo was like a nice hug after a busy weekend. It was a good sized portion that was creamy and delightful. The dessert at the end was a nice surprise as it was a bowl of ice cream, which the kids loved. I missed coming here! Even though this was my first time at the Indy location, I've been to the St Louis location a couple times and I always remember it too being a great experience and great food. I have not been to the Old Spaghetti Factory in probably 10 years. I ended up going with some friends at 8:30 on a Friday and it was not packed and we were sat right away even though we had a reservation. Our server was fantastic and always kept our drinks filled and even ran all around the find red pepper flakes because there were none upstairs. None on to the food. The bread was fresh from the oven. I got the caesar salad and they give you a large portion. It was good but too much dressing to my liking. For the entree I got the chicken parm although it tasted good the patty almost reminded me just a freezer patty you through in the oven. Then finishing with the ice cream all for about $20 an entree gets the job done. Also if you need to go to the bathroom you are hiking to the basement. This review is just for delivery, via DoorDash. I'm staying close by for work this week and I saw The Old Spaghetti Factory and was then craving pasta. I looked on their delivery page on DoorDash and saw they had chicken piccata, which is one of my favorites, so I ordered that. It apparently comes with fresh bread--the bread was warm when I received it--a salad (and I believe soup was maybe an option), the entree, and a small half-scoop, it seemed, of ice cream. There was no butter given for the bread so I only had a bite of it. The Caesar salad was delicious, there was an upcharge but it was totally worth it. The chicken piccata itself was decent, not the best I've had and not very lemony but fine, but the side pasta was fabulous. I think I saw on their DD page that they use some sort of different cheese on top of it and it was very, very good. I chose spumoni ice cream for my dessert and that was also good, albeit very small. On DoorDash this was $28 so I assume it would be cheaper at the restaurant, not a bad price for what is essentially a 3 course meal. My husband works downtown and has seen this place many times. I decided to make reservations so we could check it out. We were sat upstairs just off the bar. The decor was older looking but cute. Our server came over to get our drink orders. In the book on the table, they have drinks and appetizers listed. Unfortunately, the book at our table was not updated as it listed drinks they no longer made/have. My husband ordered a mule and I ordered an expresso martini. We had some bread & butter brought to the table. The bread was hard and crusty, difficult to cut with the dull knife provided. My husband ordered a Caesars salad and I ordered the minestrone soup. Our server was either having a bad night or was just oblivious because the soup and salad was delivered to the table and we did not have any silverware. Our food sat in front of us for probably 8-10 minutes before the server came back to check on us. Shortly after our food showed up. I had to mushroom ravioli and my husband had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. My food was just ok, the mushroom filling had a weird chemical taste to it. We did not take any leftovers home. Love that with the manager's special you can get two halves of an entree: I did the spaghetti with rich meat sauce and mizithra. The mizithra is incredible. Never had spumoni before but absolutely loved it. Salad and bread were just okay. For the price, I wish the pasta was higher quality, but the four-course meal makes up for it. Things to know: it was quite chilly inside on a winter evening: bring a layer. It was also quite busy on a Friday night and we were sat 15 minutes after our reservation time (good to know if you're on a tight schedule like us) but the service and food came out quick so it all worked out. That was our first sign that we should have ran. Meatballs looked like they were made a week ago. Nothing on the menu except pasta and a few chicken dishes. No veal, no seafood, no calamari. Just disappointing all around. Chicken Marsala looked like it was drowned in brown gravy and the pasta it came with was dry and had about a pound of parm cheese on it, as if it wasn't dry enough. While visiting Indianapolis we couldn't resist stopping by for dinner at one of favorite places. We've visited many of their locations in the PNW and have always had a great experience. We had the best view that evening. It was Halloween weekend in town and we were able to people watch, everyone had very cool costumes. Our waitress was super fun, very sweet and welcoming. She was super attentive; was nice talking to her about our visit and about other old spaghetti factory locations. I the spinach and cheese ravioli, it was delicious. We were able to sit in the trolley for my 5 yr old grandson's birthday all 4 kids loved. It. Our waitress was amazing she was on top of refills , she was friendly. The food was great tasting the kids also loved theirs . This was the first time I tried the Italian cream soda it was good didn't taste anything like I thought it would. I'm always excited to receive my Rewards Member Free Birthday Coupon for a classic pasta dinner. It just doesn't seem like my birthday without The Old Spaghetti Factory dinner of the Managers Special (2 sauces) of Mizithra Cheese and Clam Sauce. The reward is good for the month of your birthday, and I'm 1 day out before mine expires. I always cut it close since my birthday is on the 24th, but the reward is good till the last day of the month. We were lucky tonight to walk in and be taken directly to our booth. Our server, Aaliyah, was on top of it and she arrived quickly to take drink orders, and since we always get the same thing, we went ahead and placed our dinner order at the same time. Our bread arrived within minutes of sitting down, our drinks arrived minutes after the bread, and less than 5 minutes later, our food arrived. We had a small glitch with my dinner as it was missing my clam sauce and arrived with a red sauce and mushrooms. I pointed out the problem, and she scooped up my plate and corrected the issue immediately. Our meals were delicious, generous portions with extra sauce on both our dinners. And, of course, complimentary spumoni ice cream (vanilla or spumoni) came out before our bill. The restaurant is a great spot for special events as they have an extremely large room that can handle different size groups. Patrons love not only the food but also the affordable prices and generous portions. One of the reasons folks continue to support The Old Spaghetti Factory since 1982 is the great food, plus the warm decor with antique lighting, intricate stained glass displays, large colorful booths, and an old-fashioned trolley car for guests to dine in. Dear OSF, Tonight, I picked up dinner for my family and was very disappointed with the experience. I placed an order for three meals: two spaghetti with meat sauce and one Manager's Special with Mazithra and meat sauce. I also ordered three salads and garlic bread with cheese. When I inquired about the plain bread, I was told the order came with two loaves. However, when I got home, I discovered that the order was incorrect. I received: * One spaghetti with marinara instead of meat sauce * One spaghetti with barely any meat sauce * One Manager's Special (this was correct) * Three salads * Garlic bread with cheese on it And no loaves of the bread I paid over $70 for this meal, which is a considerable amount, and unfortunately, it did not meet expectations--especially after driving 20 minutes to pick it up. This is a favorite spot for our cousin, so for his birthday we agreed to meet him here. There is plenty of street parking but make sure to plan time as there is also a lot of construction and random spots off limits for parking. We were a tad early but you can sit in their lounge and wait which is nice. The restaurant re-opens at 5 for dinner, so once they got going we were seated quickly. The space is more old school with dark colors, velour type seats and booths. We enjoyed the ambience but since were hungry dove into ordering! The menus are your placemats, which is handy but also means you have to move around silverware to see all the offerings. We got a few appetizers and I enjoyed the olive tapenade. Our waitress brought us a lot of bread to go with it, which the kids enjoyed. They have a good sized kids portion and all entrees come with various sides. I got a side of broccoli with brown butter and mizithria cheese which was cooked perfectly (meaning steamed and crunchy a bit). Delicious! I ate a tad of my husband's pasta which also had brown butter, mizithria cheese, mushrooms and bacon (which we put on the side). Perfectly cooked Al dente and loved the tang of this cheese. Yum!
