Pitmaster Nachos and Three Meats, Two Sides (brisket, ribs, and chicken with Mac & cheese)

Tried this place out and it was pretty good! I absolutely love the outdoor seating available here. I do think the prices are a bit high for the quality of the food, but still was a great dinner. The service was wonderful and very fast.

This was my first time visiting City Barbeque, and I wasn't very impressed. We ordered the Motherload, which included beef brisket, pulled pork, turkey, two sausages, half a slab of ribs, half a chicken, six sides, and cornbread. With three of us, there was plenty of food to go around and lots of leftovers, but the quality was just okay. I've had much better BBQ in other states, and Indiana BBQ just doesn't seem to measure up. I typically don't go looking for good BBQ, but since living out in Nebraska, one fell on my lap, and I couldn't get enough. And I won't say no to good food even if it's not my typical favorite. Good food is good food, and it'll get people coming back. This is not good food. The food lacked seasoning, the meat was on the dry side, and the ribs were tough--they definitely didn't fall off the bone like they should. It's safe to say they're not winning any BBQ awards anytime soon. I see now that one Yelper called their ribs, "drier than popcorn farts". Honestly, accurate. The other meats were better, but still no wow factor to anything. On a positive note, the staff member who took our order was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself, however, was surprisingly empty for 6 p.m. when most places would usually be busy. It was quiet. One person working on a laptop, and a couple of other casual diners. Overall, it wasn't a memorable experience.

    Lunch was great !! 2 - 2 Meat Combos.

Fantastic location, service, options, and dining area. My oldest and I was in town for the weekend and stumbled upon this establishment shortly after landing. The menu was sooo great w so many options. My son and I devoured our food. It was sooo good and we even had leftovers !! Those leftovers sure came in handy too !! I couldn't leave w/o purchasing one of their delish sauces!! Two were my fav. I chose Brush Fire !! Great Choice !! We will certainly return the next time were in Indianapolis!!

I wanted to hug someone, the food was SO GOOD!! The staff is very friendly and genuine. The decor is beautiful and very peaceful to dine in. My oldest and I decided to eat City BBQ today and what a blessing it was to sit down, slow down and enjoy a great meal together! I got pulled pork, Mac n cheese and coleslaw, delicious! The sweet tea and lemonade combo is the best. And their peach cobbler hit the spot too. I highly recommend eating here.

    Brisket (so good) and ribs

I saw the sign for City BBQ and thought "I bet they have some great gluten free options" and I was right. They have many meats and sides sans gluten. I ordered the two meat option and chose the brisket and ribs as my meats. For sides I opted for the potato salad and coleslaw. The brisket was a home run! Great texture and flavor. The ribs were also good. I wasn't a huge fan of the sides (especially the coleslaw). I would ordered something different the next time. I also wished they would have left the bread out or asked if I would like something else, since I wasn't able to eat it.

City Barbeque is located between Oscar Robertson Blvd and 10th St, west of Doctor MLK Jr St near the in the Ransom Place area of Indianapolis in the West Side Shoppes center, very close to the IUPUI campus. IUPUI students: City Barbeque gives a 10% discount, just show them your Crimson card. Also, you can use your Crimson card to pay which is pretty rad. (I don't go to the school, I just found out about it and wanted to share ) City Barbeque has plenty of seating inside as well as outside. There's a mixture of bar height tables, lower height tables, booths, and bar seating facing the street. They have a variety of bottled soda to chose from in addition to the standard fountain drinks. Foodwise, there's a ton of different choices to select from. You'll have no problem finding something that you'll quickly enjoy. There's a lot of local sports teams represented on the walls or hanging from the rafters. And, they've got a party/event room dedicated to IUPUI Jaguars, the Jag Room. They have about 4 or 5 different sauces to add onto your food, as well as some packet sauces. I went with the Judge's Sampler and I was NOT disappointed! Everything was so juicy and full of flavor. The judges sampler included brisket, pulled pork, 1/4 chicken, half slab, two sides, and two cornbread. The staff was super friendly and very welcoming from the moment I walked in, during the meal, and on my way out. I'd say it's a must stop place to eat at!

Pulled pork, Chicken, brisket, texas Toast, green beans, and French fries

My fiancé and I always look for good BBQ when traveling. This happened to be our pit stop on Memorial Day. It was mid afternoon when we arrived and happened to be a bit slower due to the holiday. However, the cashier was incredible and helped us out with any questions we had. We ended up ordering their Three meat combo with two sides. I will have to say their pulled pork was incredible with flavor! The chicken was also good but the brisket was not my favorite. We ordered their texas toast which was great along with French Fries that we're cooked perfectly! Lastly, the green beans were good but nothing crazy to hype about. Overall our experience was a great one and we would stop again when traveling through town! Be sure to try all of their dipping sauces. Forgot to add their lemonade is refreshing!

Lilo's pulled pork sandwich, Mac and cheese, and baked beans. So #yummy! #ReviewsByRL

I used to eat at this location more often when I worked downtown, but now don't really get over here, so it's been quite a while. Same menu as other locations, lots of interior seating. Friendly staff. Had my favorite, the Lilos, which is pulled pork sandwich with slaw on it. Mac and cheese and baked beans for my sides. Good portions and always a #yum. #ReviewsByRL

Got half rack of ribs. The were not baby back ribs. They were spare ribs. The cartilage was terrible. They were drier than popcorn farts. They were the worst ribs i ever had. I have made ribs for years. I just wanted a beak from cooking. My mistake. Don't buy ribs from here. Waste of money. The fries were cold and limp not crisp. They were terrible. I do not recommend this pace. Terrible food. I do not recommend this place. Keep driving past this place I have no idea how this place is still open.

Wow this was totally unexpected. I thought being a chain bbq place it would be just average but this was REALLY good. $1 delivery for all of May and when you download the app you get $5 off at checkout. So all this food came to $30. Me and hubby ate and there was still a little left over. You get 4 choices of meats and 2 sides. I added a peach cobbler for $5. I would have liked a few more peaches in it but overall pretty good. The whip cream is homemade, I believe. That was an extra special touch. All the meats were tender, cooked perfectly, nothing was dry. The sauce was good. Wish I could have gotten another to try but only one choice. If they had that option I apologize if I missed it. I enjoyed the corn pudding and the potato salad was excellent. I will be ordering again this month so I can try more sides!

    The MOTHERLOAD
    Krista B.

My coworkers and I went to celebrate a birthday. Ended up with The Motherload: brisket, pulled pork, turkey, half slab of ribs, a half chicken, two sausages, six individual sides, three mini loaves of cornbread, and Texas toast. There were four of us, but this is advertised to feed up to six people for $74.99 and I believe it could have. We walked away with a few small boxes of leftovers. Because all the meat is smoked in advance, our massive order was out within just 5 minutes of ordering it. Each meat was flavorful and juicy--even the turkey! City Barbeque offers four or five different bbq sauces, my favorite of which was the brushfire. The sides were also good with the exception of the collard greens which were too salty. Loved their mac and cheese. Atmosphere is casual and clean. Lots of nice windows if you're hoping for some sunshine on your lunch break. My boss is a BIG fan of barbecue. He makes his own rubs, cures and smokes meat himself, etc. He was a big skeptic walking in, but walked out with nothing but praise for City Barbecue and I think that says it all.

When I walked in, I heard someone say from that back that they'd be with me in a little while. It wasn't long before a young man came out to speak with me. It was about 90 minutes before closing and he immediately told me I should not expect service right before closing. I apologized, said I thought they closed at 6pm, he said they did, then said he'd go to the back to see if they'd be willing to talk to me. Someone was in the back washing dishes, but never came to the front. The same employee came back out, sighed, and said he'd take my order. I told him I had never been in, I just heard about it from the gift card, and was curious what I could order and what was included with the menu items (inside, it's just a counter and a table off to the side with trays/boxes with names, but not prices or a list of what comes in them). He told me I should read the TV, which looked to be off at the time. He turned it back on while huffing and puffing, then said "LOOK!" at the menu, which was just names of the boxes with prices, not sizes or again what's included/what I can choose from. I remained calm, despite feeling uncomfortable, and again asked if I could see a list of what's included or what I can choose from, and if I can pick something up same day or order for a future pickup (I was honestly hoping for a grab & go cooler like other similar places but no problem, I can order something for another time). I still have no idea what items are available, as the employee was just getting more and more mad at me with each question, which he refused to answer. I told him I was feeling uncomfortable, which he just said, "okay!" so I said I didn't feel like I was wanted there as a customer, and I left. I've tried calling the store to rectify the situation and maybe speak with a different employee or member of management. Either the phone just rings and rings or the same employee I spoke with in-person answers. I really wanted to use my gift card but I'd rather throw it away than go through that experience again. She is on the ball with all the nuances behind planning and executing a wedding reception dinner so she's been a huge help and resource when it comes to managing and making decisions around things like kids menu, buffet set-up and the like. Meggin was able to make adjustments to our proposed menu and has been wonderful with fielding all my endless questions as I navigate through the wedding planning process. I feel confident that our event will go smoothly and that the food will be a huge hit with our guests!

Her decorative skills are beyond amazing!!!!!! Perfect work. Now her desserts are too sweet for my liking. But that hasn't stopped me from still ordering again and again!!!!! I found A Smudge Sweeter on Instagram, and after admiring all of their beautiful, custom desserts, I sent a message. The owner responded quickly and was able to make 50 cake pops for our party with only a week's notice. Not only did she make cake pops, but they were intricate, incredibly-themed cake pops that brought a lot of fun to our event. The party was right before Thanksgiving, so the cake pops had fun toppers that looked like turkeys, footballs, autumn leaves, etc. They were also delicious, which is sometimes hard to do when they're that beautiful too. You can now order dessert tasting platters from this business, which is definitely the next thing I want to try! Perfect to try out all of their offerings before making a decision on an upcoming gift.... or a fun thing to bring over to a friend's house for a fun night!

The food was delicious, and the turkey wrap is a standout that I highly recommend. I took one to go! They also offer great coffee drinks, which is especially appreciated during long event days or extended work sessions. Professional, attentive, and consistently high quality. The program provides space for 4 first time Black business owners. The restaurant is not well marked, but is located in the back corner of the Market. Being that it is located in City Market, there is a lot of metered parking within a reasonable walking distance and there are a few commercial garages available as well. They are not open everyday, or at least they were closed on Monday when I went to visit. The woman working there was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The restaurant has a compact menu. You will find it on the chalkboard on the counter. I went with the catfish platter. It took about 15 to 20 minutes for them to prepare my food, but it was made fresh. You can sit in the Market's indoor dining area that is located on the upper (and now lower) levels or at one of the tables in the outdoor courtyard. It was a nice day, so I decided to eat outside. The catfish and fries were decent. I cant give them the title of best that I have had, but it was good. It came with some hot sauce. If I have one suggestion, it would be to up their hot sauce game. I got two packets of a watery generic hot sauce. I would have like a more name brand sauce. It would have set the catfish off a bit more. I love supporting local and I will be back to check out some of their other savory dishes soon.

Considering this seems to be a popular spot. The toast it was served on was an herby and grainy and perfectly cut. I was surprised it wasn't an English muffin! The knife is served with was perfect for cutting into the toast and very beautifully plated! The plate was balanced with some lemony notes, creamy hollandaise, runny yolk, and avocado! Super fresh ingredients, and delicious! Ingredients seem to be picked thoughtfully, even pastries look to be sourced from bakeries in the area. They also offer gluten free and vegan options (and swaps!) The staff is friendly and welcoming ‍. The restaurant is well kept, clean, and inviting. I'd recommend this to anyone visiting Indianapolis!
