I've followed T Street Eatz since before they opened in the City Market but my timing downtown never matched their open hours until THURSDAY! After leaving my doctors appointment I excitedly head to City Market to find them! It was around 3 pm and it was very empty Only a handful of eating establishments and two vendors! It was sad to see the once vibrant Market in such a deserted state. Any who, I excitedly made my way to T Street! Upon my arrival I explained how excited I was to finally have a chance to meet them and take their food. I was then informed that they were out of catfish and asked if I wanted to taste the banana pudding. I accepted a sample and then questioned about the combo items listed. He was interrupted in the middle of his explanation by "Tasha" I assume, who asked him to do something else. She then asked what I wanted to order and I repeated that I wasn't sure and was interested in the daily combo, directing my attention to the menu board. Less than a minute later I was asked again what I wanted to order, so I just went for the 5 wings and fries with their fruit punch. I wasn't informed that my order would take about 15 minutes. I walked around to see what was left of the once vibrant Market and noticed that many of the longtime tenants were either no longer there or was run by different owners. After hearing my name called, I went back to retrieve my order. As I walked away, I noticed that I had no condiments so I returned. After walking away a second time I noticed that I did not receive my fruit punch! Although the service was a bit chaotic the wings were fresh, seasoned and cooked perfectly. The fries were a curly type and very crispy and delicious

The fooooood?! My goodness. ‍ Kountry Kitchen did NOT disappoint!…read more-- First of all, come hungry because the portions are giving "we're going to make sure you're FED." And judging by how little we left on these plates...that mission was accomplished. -- I went with the combo meal with fried chicken wings AND fried catfish, with fried okra and cabbage on the side -- and whew! -- DELICIOUSSSSS. The chicken was crispy and seasoned, the catfish had that perfect golden coating, and the sides tasted like somebody in the kitchen actually cares about you. The okra especially? I could've easily ordered another serving. -- We also tried the oxtails, and one thing I'll mention: if you're used to Caribbean-style oxtails, these are definitely different. Don't go in expecting the same flavor profile. BUT they were still incredibly tender, moist, flavorful, and practically falling apart. Paired with the sides and that cornbread?! -- And the experience goes beyond the food! The building itself is SO cute, and I loved seeing the murals featuring famous people from the area and notable people who have visited. It gives the restaurant so much personality and makes it feel like you're stepping into a little piece of local history while getting a plate of good ol' comfort food. -- Final verdict: Come hungry. Wear something with a little stretch. And don't expect to leave much on the plate. -- Kountry Kitchen, you have a fan over here! 10/10 would absolutely run this meal back.

The parking lot is a mess and the sidewalks are crumbling. Chris is a small hole in the wall place, not fancy or upscale, but the food is amazing and Chris' family is welcoming and genuine. The menu hangs above cases of fried chicken, fish and potato wedges. Gizzards are a popular menu item. Chris takes your order. My husband wants a 3-piece chicken meal with cole slaw. I select a Buffalo chicken wrap that comes with fries. Ricardo, Chris' son, comes out and asks how spicy hot I want my chicken and I ask for mild. Wow, what great service! They tell us to grab some drinks and have a seat. The dining area is small with three or four tables that seat two. Most people come in for carry out. Chris laughs and jokes with a customer in Spanish as he cooks. I sip mango nectar. My husband's 3-piece meal has four pieces of fried chicken with a cup of cole slaw. The chicken is hot, crispy and moist, not too salty, perfect. The fried batter is thick and flavorful. This is great fried chicken. The slaw is finely chopped and creamy. My wrap with fries comes out on a beautiful white platter. The wrap is huge, and the chicken fresh, hot and moist with lots of crispy lettuce. The fries are batter fried and fresh. The portions are generous. My meal was delicious. Ricardo and his sister checked on us a couple times, thanked us for coming and told us their story. I felt like family. The food is easy 5 stars, as is the service. I'll be back. I want to try the fish next.
