Came here on a Monday after lunch and I was quite surprised how busy it was. The host said they were short staffed so there would be a 20 minutes. We got seated in about 20 in the event area due to having a large party. The food today was excellent. I saw a Monday special for meatball with spaghetti for 2 with a salad, drink and spumoni for only $25. What a deal. The rest of my party enjoyed all their orders, and in fact my mother in law swears she had the best shrimp salad here. Overall the food has always been good here, but gave 4 stars due to the service not as great with the slower than usual service. This has got to be such an embarrassment Shawna Mauk "general manager" for you. So embarrassing that you turned your back on my mother as she was trying to talk to you. After witnessing this, It's very questionable how you got your position as general manager for The Old Spaghetti Factory. No wonder why this restaurant is so horrible it all starts with management like this. We sat for 2 hours just to get told Old Spaghetti Factory was out of spaghetti then wait and wait just to get over cooked noodles to only 2 family members while the other 3 still waiting for our meal, then to be given nasty attitude by Shawna. A party of 30 arrived and was not told there was no spaghetti?So I'm curious was I lied to about not having spaghetti or not? So disappointing. Horrific service especially for just a Tuesday and extreme attitude. I will never go to The Old Spaghetti factory again, not just this location in Rancho Mirage but all Old Spaghetti Factory's because of the treatment from Shawna Mauk. Great atmosphere especially their antique chandeliers. The servers are very nice and efficient. I had the chicken Marsala which was tender and delicious. The salad and warm French bread was very good! Desert included as well. Their house Chardonnay was also very good. We had 5 in our party and we could actually hear one another talk. I've been to this restaurant, several times and in different locations. We went in on Fourth of July for dinner, and it was pretty busy. Forgot to make a reservation, but we were seated within 10 minutes. I love the decor! I did not like where they seated us. It was in the back by where they bring out the food, so our chairs kept getting bumped by the servers coming out. Our serve Brian was very nice, but wouldn't take our order unless my husband was sitting on the table, he was at the bar getting us a drink. And didn't give us an option of the ice cream that came with our meal. I was hoping for a vanilla. The food ... I had the chicken piccata. Very tasty, and the chicken was very juicy. My husband had a three meat spaghetti. Also a very good. My Apreol spritz was in a very small glass and very sweet, but tasty. Nice place to bring the family. read more

I have ordered from this location many times and always had good food. Last night I ordered the managers special for delivery. Half mushroom sauce over pasta and half Mizythra cheese with Brown butter. The mushroom sauce was watery tomato sauce with a couple of sliced mushrooms on top and the mizythra cheese had no brown butter. I took a few bites a threw it out. I've left three messages at the restaurant, and two emails and a phone call to corporate and no one has bothered to contact me. I can't get over the way this dish was served to us. By the looks of it this resembles something. Food: It was alright. Complimentary bread was tough to cut. Felt like I needed a chainsaw to cut through it. I asked for a saucer to use for the oil and vinegar. The server gave a small plastic cup which was useless. Meat sauce was a bit salty. Last night was hands-down the best meal I've ever had at The Old Spaghetti Factory, and I've been coming here for 10 years. Everything was absolutely spot on. Usually I have to ask for extra salad dressing or more sauce for my fettuccine Alfredo, but this time it was perfect as-is. The flavors, the portions, everything was just right. Horrible location....They have to go out of business or change their staffs! As some people mentioned already it's a real ghost town starting from the parking lot. Came here for my birthday a few days ago. It was the worst Italian food I've ever had. Have you ever put noodles into a boiling pot, and then NOT stir them....and then they clump together and harden?!?!?! That's what was SERVED TO ME!!!! Like are you kidding me?! You whole restaurant is based on noodles and you served me ones that were NOT stirred in the pot and were HARD! I cannot believe any restaurant would let that leave the kitchen. I expressed to her that I understood, but would have just appreciated a little empathy and management of expectations from the start. She graciously acknowledged and apologized again for the experience. I appreciate Lacey's follow up and genuine concern for the situation. This is what old fashioned customer service looks like. We placed an online takeout order en route to the restaurant and waited out the remaining time in the parking lot. The website gave us a pick up time in 20 mins. My husband went in to pick up the order. After 20 mins of waiting in the car waiting for him, r, I went in to see what was taking the order so long. He was told "Five minutes and the order would be ready," but that 5 mins turned into 20 mins. So if you're following the math, it's been 40 mins now for an online takeout order. There didn't seem to be much empathy from the host at the stand. I asked for a manager because I wanted to request the order just be canceled and a refund issued, much to my husband's dismay as we had already invested time in this wait. We didn't get the manager. Instead another woman came out who told us her manager wasn't back until tomorrow and they were unable to process an online order refund because "that's just how their system works." In this day and age of technology a bit unbelievable, but what else could I do? She then proceeded to tell us again, the food was almost ready and it would be out "shortly." She promised that her manager would contact me tomorrow and could potentially give us coupons for a future visit, etc. I went back to the car while my husband waited. Another 15 mins had passed and still no sign of food. I went back in and expressed my frustration as we were nearing an hour wait time for this takeout order. It felt like it fell on deaf ears with the hostess at the stand. Finally another woman walked up, Allie, and she went to the kitchen to check on our order. By this time we were past the hour mark and after another 5 mins, she finally came out with our food. Allie did apologize and advised that they were short staffed. While I appreciate this is a true reality in today's restaurant economy, I just wished this was better communicated at the onset. Managing a customer's expectation is huge for me, and if you are up front with a wait time, then it will be a better outcome for both sides. At any rate, we finally left there with our order and a bunch of hangry kids who managed to wait patiently for their meals. We came here for a Saturday night dinner. I ordered the meat lovers treat. The spaghetti was good and so was the sausage but the meatballs were overcooked and dried out! I tried to let our server know, but never came around during our meal. My daughter's chicken parmigiana was rubbery and inedible. When our server finally came around, we were finished with our meal. I explained to her our dissatisfaction, she went to get the manager, (her expression was she could care less) I explained to the manager what my concerns were of our meal and service from the server, and he was very apologetic and offered to refund my portion of the meal and comp my daughter's meal and took my information down and sent me certificates to return, which was nice! The chicken Parmesan and spaghetti were cooked perfectly; the chicken was juicy and full of flavor and the pasta was cooked perfectly, al dente. So far, not so good. We had a reservation for 7:30 for a party of 6. It's 8:16 and we're still waiting. The people are very nice but seem understaffed. I hope the food makes up for the wait. It does seem that this could have been a one-off as they seem to have been slammed while hosting some sort of event. A manager served us for the duration of our visit and that service was first rate.
