We stopped in for the first time and were not disappointed. Great service, food and atmosphere. The new owners are carrying on the long standing tradition of a welcoming neighborhood respite after a long day. We'll be back soon.

Three deep at the bar area. The drink on the corner of my take wasn't even mine because a lady asked if she could put it down.

Lake Perch is one of my absolute favorite kinds of fish and when I found out that Silver Lake Inn has all you can eat Lake Perch on Wednesdays for $11.95, I immediately planned to go the next available Wednesday. With my Lake Perch I chose seasoned potato wedges and for the starter I went with cream of cauliflower soup. The cream of cauliflower soup could have used cheese and/or bacon...really anything to contrast the plain flavor of the cauliflower. I didn't want to bother my waitress for any of those items, so I added salt and pepper to just give it something. Along with the soup came a fantastically soft and warm dinner roll, which ended up being the highlight of my dinner. Unexpectedly, the seasoned potato wedges were huge and unfortunately that meant that most of each bite was plain potato that masked the flavor of the seasoned outside portion. I specifically chose the wedges because I didn't want massive amounts of boring potato like steak fries usually have and baked potato definitely has. Smaller wedges would have allowed the seasoning to be the main flavor and not boring potato. I've never had Lake Perch as flavorless as theirs. The breading lacked any semblance of seasoning or spice and I have no clue where they get their perch from, but it wouldn't shock me to learn that it's like the runt of the litter that no one else wants. I got one re-order because 1) I was hoping the first plate was an anomaly, 2) the principal of ordering all you can eat, and 3) the hassle I went through before I was seated. Sadly the re-order was just as flavorless as the first order. I don't eat tartar sauce or use lemon on my fish, so eating dinner was almost chore-like. COVID-19 is still a thing, but you couldn't tell stepping into Silver Lake Inn. There wasn't an open space available in the entire place. Literally the bar area was three people deep and at one point a lady asked if she could put her drink down on my table while I was eating (completely unheard-of at 99.9% of restaurants) because she didn't want to hold it and/or spill if she was bumped. The entrance way was no better as patrons had to turn sideways and suck in their guts just to squeeze through. Of course no one at all was wearing masks and the idea of them social distancing/limited capacity is laughable. I waited 30 minutes for a table and regret that I stayed at all after all was said and done. This will be my one and only visit to Silver Lake Inn.

I really like this restaurant. It is a family favorite. Is always busy and even with reservations you will wait. But it is so worth it. The food is good and very fair priced. Waitresses are always very friendly and cheerful. I highly recommend.

I called in an order to go for a four piece cod dinner with seasoned waffle fries and cheese curds as an appetizer. Unlike so many other restaurants that serve crappy cornmeal breaded cheese curds that don't get crunchy and retain too much grease, the cheese curds at Nuckleheadz are true breaded cheese curds that get perfectly crunchy. I wish every every restaurant would serve the right kind like Nuckleheadz does, but I guess that's one of the things that makes Nuckleheadz special. Speaking of special, I LOVE it when the breading on fish has herbs and/or spices mixed in. It just gives the fish a little something extra. The herbs that Nuckleheadz puts in the batter they use on their cod (maybe their other fish too, I'm not sure) are phenomenal. I'm not usually big on cod, but I'm big on their cod because of it. Seasoned waffle fries are the king of all fries so that was a no-brainer. The weekly specials they post on social media often intrigue me and the hangover hash appetizer sounds fantastic (tater tots covered with bacon, nacho cheese, shredded cheese, and fried eggs), so I look forward to ordering that the next time I dine-in on a day that isn't Friday and I can't wait to get the fish fry again on a Friday with the best cheese curds around.

When we went, they had a nice fire going in their outdoor fire pit, which made for a nice place to gather and enjoy the night air. Both my older son and I thought this sounded amazing so we stopped in on a Friday night to try it. We both got fries for our side. The burger was great as expected. Breading and deep frying the lasagna helped prevent it from being a mess and they added enough marinara to give it flavor without overpowering anything. The fries were lightly salted, but were otherwise just boring, plain potato. Apparently 6pm on a Friday is a horrible time to visit Brazen Head Pub if you want to be seated in a reasonable timeframe. My son and I stood there for at least 20 minutes watching a table that was done eating and the gentleman and his credit card in hand, ready to pay if someone would ever stop and give him his bill. While this was going on, another couple at the bar finished their food and sat there for at least 10 minutes waiting for their check. It's almost as if the employees had no desire to turnover tables even with a line at the door including and behind us. There were three people bartending/waiting tables so they had plenty of coverage given the smaller size of the place. At one point, closer to the end of our meal, one of the bartenders looked at my son and I and asked "are you guys good?" as he was literally walking away from us and I was holding up an empty soda glass to show him I'd like a refill. Oddly, he gave me a thumbs up and kept going. I don't even know what to make of that other than poor service. The music that was playing was excessively loud. If it was a live band, I'd get it, that's part of the show and I wouldn't complain. For random music on speakers to drown out all conversations unless you're yelling, that's dumb.

And let me just say, if you like a good burger this (may be) the place for you. It's located on Main Street in West Bend. This area has gone through a real renaissance. The fixed up the street and sidewalks, have angled parking, and the lighting a nice. It's a real treat to be able to walk in this area of small shops and businesses. No stripmalls or big box stores. Very nice city planning! Came with a couple of friends, around 11:30. The Brazen Head Pub is one of many bars and restaurants in this area. This pub is pretty typical layout. It's long and narrow, a little dark (lighting and wood), has a long bar, and then a few high top tables. There is one larger table towards the rear that holds 6 people. Since there were 3 of us, we grabbed a high-top and stole a chair from the next table. (we had 4 people, not sure what we would have done). There was only one person (John) running all the table and managing the bar, and a couple of people in the small kitchen. John (our server) got to us after a short wait. Got our drinks and order placed right away. We ordered some Cheese Nuggets (white cheddar curds) and 3 different burgers. You can either "build your own" or order the standard "Brazen Head Beer Cheese Burger". The curds came out almost instantly. They were hot, with a side of ranch. They were good (not great, a little too much breading for my tastes). We waited a bit for the biggers, but they ended up being worth the wait. All were made perfectly to order, hot, lots of flavor, and very good portions. The Brazen Head Burger was tall, but manageable. The different elements were distinct and complementary. The cheese sauce had a big of a tang. The fries were okay, but could have been hotter. While we were there, the place filled up. Lots of other small groups, some at the long bar. With the additional people it got to be pretty noisy, to the point that it was hard to have a conversation. It didn't help that there was a speaker, right over the tables, with loud music. With only one person running all the tables, after our food came out, it was difficult to get our servers attention. Extra napkins and getting our check was a challenge. The experience was mixed. Definitely a place to get an amazing burger, cooked perfectly to order. However, the noise and the service (due to their popularity) was a bit lacking. I wish them luck as they adjust to their new popularity.

The restaurant was clean upon arrival, and seemed to be a normal night for this restaurant even had the piano playing in the background. That's all when things started to snowball, upon being greeted at the hostess desk we were invited to help ourselves to a seat at the bar as they would be with us in a few moments. We had a reservation so this was odd but ok. They came back and just pointed us to a table from the bar. Waited a good while to finally get our drink order taken. Mine came quickly the misses had to wait for a good while for hers which was disappointing as we were already previously seated at the bar where we were pointed to help ourselves to a table. She said something about her water being off flavored and shortly after noticed a chunk of something stuck to the inside of her water cup. We decided to order an appetizer of the bacon jam toast thing as it was obvious at this point the staff was struggling to keep up with all the tables and they needed a moment to regroup before placing a whole meal order. The appetizer was great delicious and left us wanting more. We then ordered our steaks mashed potatoes and tried the lobster mac. All of that tasted great also. We were questioning each other where the lobster was in the mac and overheard the waitstaff talking to what sounded like a regular that they ran out of lobster. (They told them to enjoy a round of drinks on them someone was already running to get more). We finished with desert as it was our anniversary the peanut butter cheesecake. Upon arriving at the table it looked as though it had fingerprints on the side like someone used their fingers to place it on the plate. We ate it and again was very good rich and had a great flavor. You probably would ask yourself if we told them any of these things, they apologized for wait to be seated, apologized for the service several times stating "there's a few large groups in back" on their own. Replaced the water cup and said sorry about that. They knew they were out of lobster and tried to pull one more dish before getting more. Lastly we were done when desert came and just wanted to leave. Definitely not going back here anytime soon!
