If you've never done an olive oil tasting before, you owe it to yourself to sign up for a tasting at The Olive Press. It is easily one of the most unique tasting experiences I've experienced in my life. If you thought you knew olive oil, think again! My wife and I stopped by on a Monday afternoon and we were thoroughly impressed with how many different types of flavored olive oils and balsamic vinegars were freely available for visitors to try out in the shop. As we worked our way through the store, we stumbled upon an olive oil tasting flyer. Curious about how we could sign up for the tasting, we asked the staff member at the desk and found out they were done with tastings for the day: we'd have to come back tomorrow when more staff were available. Lucky for us, we had plans to stay another day in Sonoma: we signed up right away for the olive oil tastings the next day at 11:00 a.m. When we showed up the next day for our tasting, we were brought to the back room with a staff member. She was friendly, personable, and extremely knowledgeable and organized walking us through the olive oil production process. For each of the olive oils and balsamic vinegars we tried, they were described in meticulous details: from how they were made, what we should be looking for as we tasted them, as well as the chemical composition. Near the end of the tasting, we were also guided to mix different infused olive oils with flavored balsamic vinegars to change things up. This was my favorite part of the whole experience. If you're like me, you'll walk out from the tasting wanting to buy 10 bottles. 10/10 would recommend this experience if you're passing through Sonoma. read more

Monday July 21, Yesterday, At Oxbow market I walked into this store by myself to buy balsamic vinegar. I was the only customer in the store. The staff was looking down, playing on her phone, and didn't greet me at all. I spent quite some time browsing, but still heard no greeting. After I finished choosing my item, I went to pay at the counter. The staff still didn't say hello--she just turned and asked if I wanted anything else, then packed the bottle into a bag for me. When I took out my card to pay, she didn't even look at me--just kept her head down doing who knows what. Only when she handed me the bag did she finally say "thank you." The product cost $25--not cheap, but not expensive either. Still, the level of service was the worst. I never saw a smile from the staff. In fact, she looked annoyed from the start. I don't understand--was she angry that I came in half an hour before closing? I work in the hotel industry, so I understand how important customer service is, even if someone just walks in to browse without buying. I actually wanted to buy more, but the staff showed no interest or care, didn't ask me anything--so I only bought one item. I really like this store's products and use them in my cooking, but unfortunately, I think I'll have to switch to a different brand from now on . read more

Such a beautiful, quaint store nestled at the entrance of the Jacuzzi Family vineyard. There are so many adorable kitchen trinkets, serving bowls & gourmet cookbooks. You could spent hours just browsing around & wishing you could buy everything in the store. We were very impressed with their gourmet balsamic vinegars. They had such vibrant flavors such as mango, pomegranate & raspberry. We were hooked as soon as we sampled them & bought 4 bottles. They are sure to elevate any salad dressing or recipe you use them with. I can't wait to return to buy other flavors. read more

Came here for my friend's birthday and had the most incredible time! We did both the olive oil tasting and the wine tasting. The employee that served us the olive oil and wine was very nice and also very knowledgeable. He talked about the Jacuzzi family as well as the olive oil making process and where each wine came from. I came here with some friends to do an olive oil tasting. I'd done olive oil tastings in shops before, but never with a person the way I did wine tastings. We tried several different extra virgin olive oils, ranging from mild (almost nothing) to robust (quite biter). Then we dived into a bunch of flavored oils, mixed with a bunch of balsamic vinegars. I gotta admit that while in my everyday life I use olive oil, during the tastings, I love the balsamic much more. The host (I forget her name) showed us the giant machinery to crush olives and explained the process to us, told us stories, and mixed a bunch of flavors together. I had a great time! Pro-tip: you are not required to drink all of the olive oil that is poured. My friend did it because she thought she was supposed to and felt a bit sick later (because she essentially drank 1/8-1/4c oil...). My personal favorites were blackberry balsamic and lemon olive oil, but they didn't have a tiny jar of blackberry so I got the fig instead. (No olive oil because I have a lot from Costco kirkland brand.) read more

It's located off the road and you pass right by if you're headed to Napa from San Francisco. The Olive Press is in the same building as Jacuzzi Family Winery's tasting room. When you walk in, Olive Press is on the right side. What a great business! They have a vast selection of delicious olive oils, vinegars, and spices. They have many award winning olive oils. They also play a lot with infusions like peach vinegar and rosemary olive oil. They also sell other goods like soaps, lotions, and toiletries - all olive oil based of course. You can purchase their olive oils and vinegars in the pre-packaged bottles or bring your own bottle/container and fill by the ounce. Great system, if you ask me. The pre-packaged bottles come in many sizes from travel-sized to bulk. I purchased the Sage Infused Olive Oil and Classic Balsamic Vinegar. The herb infused olive oils were deliciously strong and the classic balsamic vinegar was viscous and sweet. Delicious! read more

My daughter treated me to an olive oil tasting. I'd never heard of such a thing. I'm so glad to be educated about olive oil and how to pair different balsamic vinegars with flavored oils. I can't remember the name of our hostess, but she was delightful. We spent a long time picking out our favorite combinations for purchase. One vinegar we didn't try at the tasting was the bourbon. I bought it on a whim and it turned out to be my favorite. I bought the large lemon olive oil and a few of the small vinegars to try the flavors. I'm very pleased with my purchases and even joined their Olive Press Club, for the discount and future purchase savings. I have to go back for a refill of the Bourbon vinegar. I was surprised with the Jalapeño oil it was so good. I'm not big on spicy but this was just right. I use it when I'm cooking my Mexican dishes. read more

We came here recently for a tasting after lunch at The Girl & The Fig & had a great time. Jan was very kind, knowlageable, & thorough; explaining the different olives, olive oils, balsamic vinigres, the farming & manufacturing process etc. We got to taste different flavors & combinations olive oils mixed with balsamics. This had to be one of the most thorough tastings we have ever been to. It is cool how you have a private room & the focus is only on you. They have a wonderful store with the formentioned products & always have soaps, losions, & some great chocolates; I took home a dark chocolate bar with cherries which was sublime. They are next to Jacuzzi Winery which also serves cheese bords during the week & pizzas on weekends. We will definitely be back to explore more. So, for some wonderful olive oil & balsamic vinigre tasting & products at reasonable prices, The Olive Press cannot be beat. Keep up the good work guys. read more

The Olive Press has been creating olive oils for some time. There are many oils and vinegars to choose from. The help does an excellent job navigating the collection. They sample the oils and vinegars. As a nice plus, they have free shipping when you order enough (approximately 4-6 bottles). And for those that do wine tasting they have a second store with a large wine tasting bar. The flavors are pure and delicate in various strengths. Add to this various blends that can be used as garnishes like the basil Parmesan blend and you have a winning combination. We picked up several bottles for different purposes starting with two strengths of The Master Blend and added the raspberry balsamic vinegar. The light Master Blend with raspberry vinaigrette will make a nice combination for lettuce and fruit salads. This is a destination experience in a nice surrounding. We recommend the stop. read more

In a countryside of wineries, in a locale known worldwide for it's wines, lies this little oasis also catering to those who aren't wineficionadoes. As soon as you enter the stone building (or a stone facade; I'm going to go with stone building) you are presented with a choice of wines on the left, and an impressive collection of olive oils on the right. The olive oils were all that I was about. Laid out were multiple stations of olive oils, extra virgins and aromatics-induced, and dark balsamic oils with little dip cups and piles of mini croutons, lined with arrays of tiny toothpicks for all to sample as they please. After many a moment of indecisiveness, I decided upon the rosemary garlic olive oil, and the classic, and the fig dark balsamic oils. The olive oil were as good as I expected them to be, but the balsamic oils blew me away! I usually avoid balsamic oils when dipping my breads. But these oils were thick and dark like reductions, totally unlike their fast running fluidal cousins you get at the store. They were sweet and delicious and I can't think of the ways I can enjoy them --- drizzle them on salmon, on caprese of burrata and tomatoes, and who knows what else! I must confess I was never aware of these dark and thick oils. But I sure am glad I do now! read more

This is always a must stop for us on any day car hike we take to the Sonoma Valley. The store, located within the the beautiful Jacuzzi Winery, is olive oil heaven. To watch the olives off loaded on the side of the building directly into the press is quite a thrill. The variety of product, both the oils and the flavored vinegars is outstanding. We have discovered some amazing new favorites from Bourbon, Fig and Cucumber vinegars to our new favorite Ascolano oil. Fun recipe cards to jump start our creativity. Micheal and his staff ALWAYS take their time with us and give us some crash courses in discovering new flavor combos. No question the olive oil here is high quality, though some flavors didn't taste as good as expected. The issue was their sales tactics. After selecting my choice of bottles with the sales rep, she added extra duplicates that I did not ask for and had to correct her. She then brought them over to the sales counter and started wrapping up the bottles before bagging them. When I got home I noticed an extra bottle of a flavor we did not want. An innocent error? I think not as there were two attempts (one successful) to oversell us. A stain on an otherwise high quality product. read more

As a local grower/harvester of olives My son and I made a trip to the olive press to experience the "community day", where one takes their harvest in for pressing. at $0.60 a pound it isn't bad. What one gets out of the press looks and tastes so much better than one can buy from the retail store. Next year will bring a better harvest and more varieties of olives.... Well, across the street from Kline Cellars is the Jacuzzi Estate (yes, the hot tub Jacuzzi) and on the right wing of the mansion is a wonderland of flavoured Olive Oils and Vinegars. Lots of samples available and great oils available for sale in different sized and shaped containers. Enthusiastic and helpful staff. I'm a club member, meaning I get a shipment of olive oils and vinegars every quarter. Each selection is curated carefully although members are allowed to exchange selections for favorites. As a member I receive a discount (I think it's 20%) on some items. I often go there for holiday and specialty gifts. A terrific store to visit and sister wineries Jacuzzi adjoins the Olive Press in the same building. The third of this lovely family-owned winery is Cline Vineyards across the street. It offers a similar discount for members. These stops are must visits for Wine Country trips especially if you're coming from the Bay Area on Hwy. 121. Personally, I've been a member for several years and dealing with Olive Press club rep Araceli Moya has been a delight. The original Olive Press. They have an outpost at Napa's Oxbow Market, but this is where they started. It used to be that during harvest, you could watch them press olives into oil; they also sold olive oil ice cream. Not sure if they're still offering this. If you're into virgins&extra virgins (olive oils), this is the place for you. They have an incredible array of oils and vinegars that you can taste. Surprisingly, their cookbooks are the best I've had as my haul from here. Plus, they're everyday Mediterranean cuisine, so you can have 69 ways to make pasta, along with shakshuka for breakfast. The Olive Press' balsamic vinegars tend to run thicker than the store kind, if fluidity is your thing. Vinegar tends to be lighter than oil, but in this case, you can make a delicious emulsion. The Olive Press' vinegars make layered vinaigrettes, unlike lots of store brands. The Olive Press is joined with Jacuzzi Winery, so you can have a twofer of wine&olive oil/vinegar tasting. Interesting trivia- A statue of Neptune overlooks the Napa/Sonoma wetlands. Neptune's Greek name, Poseidon, means "earth shaker." I found The Olive Press by accident and so glad I did. The property is beautiful and the store is full of every type of olive oil you can imagine. The best part is that they allow you to taste most of the oils they sell. They have cut Italian bread to eat with the oil and each taste was interesting. So much fun! The Olive Press splits its space with the Jacuzzi winery, so you can do a little two for one touring if you'd like. They have so many varieties of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Genevieve (I think) really took the time to explain all the different varieties to us and the olive oil process. She also provided us with her recommendations. Located at the Jacuzzi Family Vineyards, the Olive Press samples and sells a variety of olive oils. When you walk into the building, the olive oil room is on the right-hand side. There are a couple of counters lined with various olive oils which are available to sample. There are about 6 regular olive oils to taste, ranging from lighter to more full-flavored, which is their award winning olive oil. There are also about 5 flavored olive oils to taste, and I really enjoyed these. They had: blood orange, lemon, lime, tangerine, and jalapeno. The lady behind the counter was pretty helpful and shared ways in which each of these flavors could be used in everyday cooking and how flavors could be mixed or enhanced. For example, she mixed some black currant balsamic vinegar with the lime olive oil to produce a "margarita"-like flavor. I thought it was kind of interesting trying the olive oils, but I wish that they had more bread to taste the oils with. The bread pieces were very small and very limited. I'd say it was worth trying the different types of olive oils, but I didn't feel compelled to buy any of them at the end of the day. read more

I have loved the Olive Press since they opened! If you haven't visited, you definitely need to make it a priority when you're in the Wine Country next. Not only do I use their products for our daily cooking, but I often ship them as gifts to others all over the country. Recently, I visited to put together a package for a friend in Chicago and had a not-so-perfect visit. That was a first for me, so I sent an email through their website describing my experience and received an immediate response apologizing for their mis-steps in service. I can't emphasize enough how amazing that was. Customer service is not only important when everyone does everything perfectly; it's just as important if not more so, when things are not perfect and the company is responsive to feedback which was the case here. The last and final destination after a day of wine tasting! It was dark by the time we got here, so it's a pity I didn't get a chance to enjoy the grounds or appreciate the lovely building. Tried a variety of infused olive oils. Some I liked ... some I didn't really care for. We ended up getting a bottle of the garlic rosemary infused oil and a bottle of the Italian herb. The garlic rosemary I broke open today and it was wonderful with freshly baked wheat bread. Our friend Marty who doesn't drink and was dragged through a full day of wine tasting was most happy when we got here. Like a colonoscopy, I hope he leaves with good memories of the day since it ended here. He bought more in olive oils than I did in wine. To each our own. Stopped in for the winery, but got a bonus with the Olive Press tasting room! Near closing time so the shop was empty, but the ladies on staff were more than welcoming. There are a few different tasting stations throughout the room, but they invited us up to the counter so we could have their undivided attention if we had any questions. I'm not sure how many different kinds of oil they had out to sample, at least 15, if not more, which I found amazing. Tiny plastic cups for the oil and bits of sourdough bread to dip. I especially enjoyed the citrus oils, altho, the sweet & savory flavors shine through all of their oils. There is a video showing the process of making the oils which we didn't watch because we were too busy sampling. Olive Press is a cute little olive boutique located right inside Jacuzzi Winery. They have tons of great things for the kitchen (not just olive oil) including bowls, dishes, napkins, things to serve at parties and for entertaining and books.
