My husband and I went for Valentine's Day lunch. We went on Sunday around 2 PM. We were quoted 10 minute wait but it was around 25 minutes. We waited in the front of house area. There was a kids play area and restrooms near the front door. The waiting area smelled like bathroom chemicals. We ordered the large chicken nachos. The large nacho portion was small. I can't imagine what the normal nacho portion would've been. The chicken was super dry! The amount of chicken was disappointing as well. My husband ordered the bacon cheddar avocado burger. My husband liked his burger, juicy and medium patties. I ordered the wild mushroom burger. My burger was well done, no pink. The pepper sauce was tasty, the burger needed the moisture. I would come back and try something else.

On our quest for yummy Bloody Marys we stopped into the Onion today for a try. It's called The Kraken. Not on the menu but we had seen it offered. 22.00 each and it is topped with a lunch meal. Only a pic of one of them...mine fell over when they brought it out. The food sampling was tasty. Chicken tender, 2 shrimp, 2 bacon, 3 potato bacon balls, pickle and an onion ring. It was a large Bloody Mary, a bit strong and not a lot of flavor in the mix. Salted rim was missing. Can't give it a 5* but it was good.

The onion is a fantastic pun in Spokane! The service was wonderful just personable enough to engage a single diner while remaining attentive to other patrons. She was fast too. I ordered the Japanese rice beer that really hit the spot while I took in the very old school decore. They won me with the vintage Harley in the center of the dining area. The place has a really laid back vibe. I had the stuffed tots, a must order item. House made and satisfying l, add the cougar cheese sauce and you are in heaven. The Elk chopped steak was top shelf I highly recommend it. I opted for the pea salad instead of fries. That's with a try it was delicious and different. So happy I got to the onion on this trip.

The service was good for a large lunch party. The portions on the food are huge and there is a good variety of sandwiches, burgers, and appetizers on the menu if you like fried food. However there are fewer fresh options.

First time here and it was a good choice for lunch time fare. You can take a look at the pics to see what we ordered and just to let you know, there were no complaints on anything we ordered. I was offered either a 1/4lb or 1/2lb burger and I am glad I got the smaller of the two. The amount was just right. Just wanted to also point out the service we had from Sarah. She greeted us with a smile and bubbly personality. She checked on us often and provided great service. Keep up the great work Sarah!

Delicious burger and rings. Amazing Mac and cheese. Great location with 51 beers on tap. Unfortunately had to wait almost 20 minutes to get our check once we were finished. Maybe understaffed? Would go back again though

Easy street parking Friendly service We tried The Onion and had a mix of amazing and not-so-amazing experiences. The French press coffee served in glass mugs was some of the best coffee I've ever had -- smooth, rich, and such a nice touch presentation-wise. The small chicken nachos were delicious and packed with flavor. The 1/2 pot roast French dip was also really good -- the peppered gravy was perfect. I completely forgot to add horseradish to the sandwich (my mistake!), but the side pea salad was fantastic. Now... the Monte Cristo with green apple slices. What can I say? It was a total greasy bomb. So disappointing. The entire sandwich was dipped in onion ring batter and deep fried. I took one bite and literally had grease dripping down my hand. Just way too heavy and overdone. On the positive side, the fries, tots, ranch, and tartar sauce were all solid. Overall, some standout items -- especially the coffee and French dip -- but I'd definitely skip the Monte Cristo next time.

The Onion has a ton of personality to go along with its vast menu and bar options! The staff is super super nice and the food was amazing and delicious.

Overall, really nice place with cool vibes. Wait staff was great. Prices are reasonable. Had the steak strip appetizers and love the pepper sauce. My group had burgers and fish and chips and they really enjoyed it.

So many taps! I love getting a flight here. The food is fresh and flavorful consisting of house made sauces, wild caught seafood, local beef + more. The large menu truly has something for everyone. Service is wonderful; the staff make it feel like you're dining at home. The Onion is a solid option whether you're visiting the north Spokane or downtown location.

Went to the Onion for apps and desserts. I hadnt been there in several years. Was extremely disappointed. We got onion rings and mozzarella sticks. The onion rings were sopping wet with grease and served with a thin tartar sauce. The mozzarella sticks were yummy though. Then for dessert I got the cheesecake and the raspberry sauce on top was sooo sour I had to scrap it off my cheesecake. The cheesecake itself was good though. The worst part of the whole thing was the crème brûlée and is the reason I had to come leave a review. The top was not hard at all, very soft, and the consistency of the inside was SOUP. We complained and they got us another one, with the exact same problem. They don't know how to make crème brûlée and have it set correctly. Nor did they torch the top nearly long enough. Will not be going back.

I'd put this in the casual category of Applebees meets Red Robin. - friendly staff, attentive service - wide variety of choices, something for everyone, good place for families and kids - fun desserts, including a birthday dessert that's huge, extra sugary and over the top fun The burnt cream/creme brûlée was tasty!

The biggest issue right away was how long the food took. It felt like we were waiting forever, and by the time it finally came out, it definitely didn't feel worth it. We started with the pretzel, which honestly was nothing like a pretzel. It tasted more like glorified fried dough and didn't have that classic pretzel texture or flavor at all. For drinks, mine was way too strong and just didn't taste good. It wasn't balanced at all and ended up being hard to even enjoy. For my main, I ordered the Cascadia burger medium, but it came out clearly well done and overcooked. On top of that, the egg on it was severely undercooked.. some of the whites were still clear and slimy, which completely ruined it for me. I had also heard good things about the mac and cheese, so I gave it a try, but that was another disappointment. It was bland and runny, and even after adding salt and pepper, it still had no real flavor. My husband ordered the chicken sandwich, which wasn't terrible, but it was definitely on the dry side. They were also out of fries, so he had to get fruit instead, which was kind of disappointing. Overall, the food took way too long, the quality didn't match the price, and the experience just didn't live up to the hype at all. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.

Our server was very busy, handling both the bar and restaurant areas. We all started with appetizers, which we shared. Fried green beans were good, kind of spendy. The onion rings were great and the tarter they came with was nice. The mozzarella sticks were good, the marinara was cold and chunky. For meals, two of us went with their Irish Stew, salad, and absolutely delicious cornbread. Our other friend tried their Burnt End sandwich. She said it was really good. What I really wanted was BBQ turkey, which is on their online menu but not on the menu in the restaurant. It was a good experience and we'll definitely give them another try in the future.

The Mad Cow Reviewer…read more Well, color me udderly impressed! I wandered into McKracken's Irish Pub in Spokane Valley after a long day chewing cud and was greeted with the warmest "moo" of hospitality I've felt in ages. The owner clearly knows how to make everyone--two-legged or four-hooved--feel right at home. Let's start with the Guinness--cold, creamy, and poured with care. It's enough to make a bull tear up with joy (and that's saying something). The Irish stew? Hearty, rich, and packed with flavor. The cornbread is the real surprise--soft, slightly sweet, and perfect for soaking up the last bits of stew. Whoever's in that kitchen deserves a medal--or at least a salt lick of appreciation. They've got WiFi, so you can update your herd on your dining adventures, and the regulars add to that cozy, small-town pub vibe. Karaoke on Fridays is a real treat too--nothing like hearing a few pints in patrons belt out "Don't Stop Believin'" while I hum along in low, soulful moos. All in all, McKracken's is the kind of place that makes you want to settle in, loosen your bell, and stay awhile. Great food, cold beer, friendly faces--what more could a mad cow ask for? -- The Mad Cow Reviewer
