The remains of a retired Coast Guard cutter, the entry way brings you into what looks to be a steel galleyway. Portholes peek through to the bar area and dining rooms. Up top, guests can reserve a private dining room, built from the original Bridge Cabin of the ship! Ron's original artwork adorned the walls of the place, and were quite unique - definitely adds to the decor. We sat down with the menu, and were pleased with the excellent variety of items available. We started off with the Clams Portuguese appetizer, and all LOVED it! In my opinion, it could have included a few more wheels of the Linguica, but the flavor was perfect. The drinks menu was very inviting, but considering that we were all extending our Dry January tradition, opted to try them on another visit. For our main course, my partner ordered the Beef Stroganoff. Being an aficionado of this dish, and having her own special recipe herself, she really loved how the flavors blended. Our guests ordered the Spaghetti di Frutti di Mare, and the Shrimp Louis salad. Both were delicious! I requested the Huckleberry-glazed Salmon, and was delighted with the consistency. The turmeric rice side dish was fantastic as well. Our favorite item was the Flowerpot Bread - a dense, two-toned baked roll, with a crusty shell. Very nice for wiping out all the delicious sauce residue from our meals. The parking was just a minor challenge; it is shared with the restaurant next door, so we ended up parking in what seemed to be boat trailer spots. Fortunately, there were no boats coming or going that evening, but it could be dicey during salmon season. But to begin with, we were given the small containers of wasabi and pickled ginger and chopsticks but no individual plates to enjoy the appetizers or sushi, and our waitress was not anywhere to be found for at least half an hour, but probably more. Our dinner finally arrived one hour and twenty five minutes after we had been seated. It was mostly good, but the huge lag in time and apparent indifference of our waitress really took the shine off the entire experience. My kismet tips had lovely flavor but was not evenly hot; for instance, some of the mushrooms were cool to lukewarm. My greatest gripe is the absolutely terrible service though. I cannot comprehend how the owner could be present in that room the entire time we were there and hardly looked at us at all and apparently was unaware of how poorly we were treated. (Was our order lost? why on earth did it take so long to be served?)
