We read the reviews about the clam chowder and just had to try it. My husband and I shared a bowl and it was delicious with lots of clams. We each had the fish and chips special. Portions were smaller which we preferred. The local fish was delicious. We came in shortly before closing and we were able to order dinner. We enjoyed our meal and didn't feel rushed. Their menu is a seafood lovers paradise, featuring seasonal off-the-dock specials such as crab cakes, crab rangoons, crab melts, and clam chowder served in a yummy pull-apart bread bowl. Ordering was a no-brainer for me. I instantly knew I had to have the Crab Melt. This entree item is stuffed with dungeness crab, your choice of melted cheese, tomato, and served on locally made locally-made sourdough. It also comes with the most deliciously made fries. This is a small bar and restaurant in the Marina of Winchester bay. It was clean and comfortable. The bartender was talkative and we enjoyed a few local draft beers. Although we didn't eat, the menu looked good. The kitchen was very clean from what I could see, too. We will go back here for lunch/dinner I'm sure. We popped into Crabby's while exploring the harbor during off season so it was pretty dead. Curiously, three televisions run "boat TV" while you eat and it's strangely hypnotic. We got the loaded Bloody Mary ---because why not?---and fish & chips and a clam chowder bread bowl. I've had way better Marys so I wouldn't order that again but the clam chowder was VERY good. They toast the buttered center, making it delicious. I pulled mine apart and dipped it into the creamy, cheesy chowder. I would 100% go back for that. The fish and chips were also good! We often stay at Winchester Bay RV Resort and one of our favorite things to do is ride our electric scooters down to Crabby's for drinks and appetizers. Today my husband had the Ahi Tuna Nachos and I had the Crab Rangoons. So so so delicious!! Besides the great food and drinks, the service is great and so is the atmosphere! Agreed with these recent reviews. For the last number of years Crabbys was one of our favorite spots to visit. It was easy to get to, the servers were happy and food and service was good. But then the new owners took over and the whole vibe shifted into the negative. The happy workers are gone and the ones that stayed are not happy with the new situation - and it shows! The food took a dive, they even stopped serving crab for a long time. Yes, the new Owners need to take the time to build this restaurant back up to the once fun, great restaurant and bar that it was. The new crabbys is a shell of the restaurant it used to be. Hopefully the new Owners see this review and take heed! We went a couple times after the takeover and things were so terrible, we never returned. It's not worth your time or money in its current condition. I'm sure they've lost a lot of patrons! Stopped in here for a relaxing Saturday lunch. It's not a huge place but we were able to get a table right away. They were majorly short staffed for a Saturday lunch crowd - - seemed like the people working the kitchen were new so service was understandably slow. The menu was different from what I had seen online but luckily they had what I was planning to get - - Shrimp Tacos. The meal comes with 2 tacos - - each with 3 nice sized shrimp on top of their coleslaw. I love coleslaw and theirs was tasty - - I just wish it was more shredded for easy eating. Chips and salsa on the side were delicious. Like I said before, service was slow but super friendly and efficient. I will definitely give it another go next time we're passing by. We arrived to one table of guests ready to leave and 2 tables of 2 patrons on the patios. We grabbed 2 menus and sat at a booth. We sat for 15-18 minutes with no one greeting us or bringing water. Another few tables of 2-3 people came in and sat. Finally, after 38 minutes the waitress came over to take our order. We ordered the loaded Bloody Mary. Everyone else now has their food and beverages (including many with the loaded bloody Mary's) and here we sit. Nothing. After 42 minutes, we just walked out. Service took over 30min to give us our food that was to-go btw and when I asked them about it they said our food will be done next after 4-5 people were seated after us, mind you the people who ordered after us got their food and FINISHED IT before we even got our food. We've tried a couple of the fish&chip type restaurants at Winchester Bay and Crabby's is our favourite. We tried the Loaded Bloody Mary (which we call brunch-in-a-glass!), crabcakes, oysters and cioppino. Everything was good, and especially the local Umpqua Triangle oysters, which we reckon are the best we've ever had. It's a fun place too, with lots going on. My viewpoint is one of a local member of the Winchester Bay community. And in all fairness I must state that Crabbys Bar has recently been acquired by new owners and I have yet to visit since the turn over. However, this bar has historically been a tourist bar, you will find it packed during the summer months with tourists that have money to burn and virtually dead during non tourist season. One of the reasons for that has been the over priced drinks, and food. For a more local and affordable bar, go over to Double D you can get cheaper drinks of the same quality and the food won't break the bank. read more

Aha tuna nachos were awesome, clam steamers and sourdough were perfect and the broth was worth every is of bread. Lastly we had the crab cakes which were amazing. The only beers they serve are local craft beer and can tell you about each of them to make suggestions or offer a taste before purchasing. We were greeted immediately and seated. We were asked to keep our masks on until they could get a drink in front of us. I start with a cup of chowder. It was quite tasty and generous with portions of potato and clam. The seasonings were very light and the taste seemed to grow on me as I ate it. I think I really liked it because there was no fish oil added, which allowed me to enjoy the flavors of the ingredients. The Philly cheesesteak was very good with thin sliced beef, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions and cheese. The fries are dredged in flour before frying which gives them an interesting flavor and texture, my son had to ask how they made them. I stayed at the Winchester Bay Inn, and they recommended a place called Grifts for seafood. It was a Tuesday and apparently that place is not open on Tuesdays so I went across the street to crabby's. Big mistake. It was bingo night and so the bingo guy was playing extremely loud music when he wasn't talking. since I was right on the bay, it seemed like the crab melt sandwich Special was the way to go, in spite of the fact that it was $31. In fact, everything on the restaurant menu seemed quite expensive, but I was already there and didn't feel like driving around looking for another place to eat I ordered the crab melt sandwich. It was an average size sandwich with fries for $31! In spite of the fact that it had tomato and cheese in it, it was not very tasty, and I was continuously getting a little pieces of crab shell, which was frustrating . Nobody asked if I liked it during or after my meal, I paid and left, and I would never return to that place. However, bring a coat (it's cold even on a sunny day) and get a second job before you head out: 2 fish tacos with costco-type fish (cod or ahi) and a side of blue corn chips costs $23. Beer sets you back another 8ish/pint. A simple lunch date for four will hit your wallet hard. WOW!!! Not what we expected in a waterfront dive bar in Winchester Bay! The food was superb and Gillian, our server, is a real gem. We had a couple of orders of mixed steamed clams and mussels, which were fantastic and the broth accompanying the bivalves was rich, winey and scrumptious. I'd drink it with a straw, but it was even better soaked up with garlic bread - just unbelievable. Most of our party had the 'fish and chips' with perfectly seared ahi and roasted potatoes with truffle oil substituting for the usual deep fried fish 'n fries.
