We went here to watch the Dodger game. It seemed very much like a local bar, but everyone was so nice. I had clam chowder and my husband had a burger and it was delicious. Our waiter/server was great and so busy on his own. We would definitely recommend coming here to out of towners. read more

This is a local's bar that is very accommodating to visitors. Our friends that visited in the past told us about it. The owner Joe, made us good drinks. You can eat in the restaurant part or the bar. There is a big screen TV in the bar to watch sports. We came back with a party of 10 and the local patrons helped us move tables to seat us. The food and service were excellent. Joe split the checks for us which was very nice. The local patrons gave us really good recommendations for our visit. We will definitely visit again. read more

First, the clam chowder and service were great! The fries were great. The halibut was a little dry but there appeared to be an issue with the batter being a little dry also and not sticking well. Overall a very good place for a beer and food. Lots of food on the plate! read more

We love this place! Probably one of the best steaks on the planet. The char, seasoning, and temperature was spot on. The loaded potato was huge. The clam chowder was hot, creamy, and just the right thickness. My captain's platter was huge, 2 big pieces of halibut, 4 jumbo shrimp (truly jumbo), and the subbed the crispiest, most tender calamari I've ever had. The petite blond was our waitress. She is personable and funny. She is also a generous bartender. I was impressed...not everyone knows what a Kamakasi is. Ambiance...comfy neighborhood bar on one side, tiny dining room on the other. Suits us fine. Hoodies, wind blown hair, and the smell of bait or bike fuel fit here just right. Other restaurants in Winchester Bay don't hold a candle to this place read more

The last three times we have been here we had to leave and go somewhere else. First time couldn't get service. Second time the owner kindly told us it would be a long wait before we would get served because of their lack of crew. Third and final time our party of six sat down. Two ladies in the kitchen were talking and they looked at us but never came out to even offer a menu. There were also people in the bar waiting to be served and one couple asked if they could just come back tomorrow and pay because no one was helping them. This was our go to place our first night in Winchester Bay. Always had great food and service. sadly no one wants to work. And the owners are loosing money because of it. Tried calling to place a Togo order and was put on hold for 8 minutes, hung up and decided to just go in and then we went into the minor side of the restaurant and waited 5 mins and not one person was there to help us. Have been to Double D's twice in the last two weeks. Excellent each time. I had read some previous reviews and was hesitant to try but omg so glad we did. The first time we went fairly early and so it was pretty quiet. Our order was taken quickly and drinks arrived right away and food shortly thereafter. I had sautéed oysters in garlic butter and husband had halibut fish and chips. They even accommodated a special request on the sides which was so nice of them. A week or so later we went with friends and the guys each had a burger which they declared right up there with the best burgers ever. Again even though pretty crowded our awesome waitress Kim delivered our drinks right away and our food soon thereafter. Great place to eat in Winchester Bay. We have always loved the Reubens there. Our most recent order included the club sandwich, we will add that to our list of favorites. It is loud in the restaurant, everyone is having a good time. We ordered takeout, our food was packaged well and was hot when we got home. We will be back. read more

We sat down at a table to order food. 4 times, staff walked by and never acknowledged us. After 20 minutes of waiting, we got up and left. Not once did anyone from the staff even attempt to make contact or look our way! It was not busy in the least. There was one table who had just gotten their food and no one else waiting to order. We just discovered a great place to meet friends and have great dinner. Yes it's a sports bar but the ambiance felt more like the locals pub in Wales where everyone was just happy and friendly. We walked in and were immediately greeted by Erin, who is super friendly and engaging , and the also the bartender. She helped us choose a beer and even found out they carry PBR! The place is clean and yes it's loud but not offensively loud. I did have a little bit of a hard time hearing Erin but hey. So we also decided to order some food and got the Oysters Rockefeller and super surprised how yummy they were! Totally worth the visit were the oysters! We will be back So went back today for a to go order of the oysters (yes just as good to go) because they were so yummy. And loved the way they packaged my to go order! Double D's is loud, even for a sports-bar. That did not deter us from checking them out though. We sat at the bar, ordered a couple of beers, then ordered the jalapeno poppers and fish tacos. The beers were excellent. The poppers were very messy and hard to eat, but they still tasted good. The fish tacos had A LOT going on, making them a little hard to eat. The fish tasted good and all the other ingredients, minus the cheese, tasted fresh. I was not expecting four cups of different sauces and salsas to come out, only one of which I used. The service was fast and friendly, but you have to nearly scream your order at them to be heard over all the other noise. Visited with a friend, he had Oysters Rockefeller, Clam Chowder, and a side of Pan Fried Oysters. Every single dish looked more amazing than the next. You could visibly see the clams in the Clam Chowder and finding Pan Fried Oysters instead of the typical Breaded and Deep Fried Oysters was a treat in and of itself. If the Clams and Oysters had been any fresher, they would have still swimming in the ocean. I had a Bay Shrimp Louie salad that was HUGE and literally overflowing with shrimp. Fair prices, incredibly fresh seafood, and a great pub atmosphere, this place can't be beat! Topping off the experience was a sassy waitress; no really great fisherman's bar should be without one. On our search for the perfect chowder in this area we were disappointed with Harbor Light but hit gold here. Spoke with Carol on the phone, lovely lady who took my order. I ordered two clam chowders and their big shrimp basket with cole slaw and fries. The chowders were delicious. Big chunky clams with the right amount of potatoes. Well spiced and flavorful. Definitely not a disappointment. Next was the shrimp. Perfectly battered, crunchy and large shrimps. Fries, perfect. The coleslaw was fantastic, fresh, crunchy in a delicious dressing. Freshest seafood I've had on the coast, and I've lived here for 7 years and look for new places weekly. We had halibut tacos, pan fried oysters, chowder, and shrimp Louie salad. Shrimp was piled high, halibut so fresh it flaked apart like crab. Oysters also extremely fresh and chowder had a ton of clams. Unassuming front makes it look like a dive bar but there's family friendly seating and TVs for football. This place is a MUST TRY. I will most definitely be back. read more

Used to be our hangout before new ownership. Service has gone way downhill. We've had 2 bad experiences with meals and not even an apology. First we ordered 2 bacon cheesburgers and fries and were each brought a half a burger and a handful of fries. She said she thought we ordered a split plate. No apology and even said, "you will save money". 2nd time we were with a group and all ordered together, 1 meal was missed and didn't arrive until everyone was done and ready to leave. No apology. Another time we stood at the bar for 20 minutes and saw no one once. The cook came out and we asked who was working. He shrugged and walked away. We left The last time we went, a couple weeks ago, on a Saturday around 8 pm, we walked there were several people in the bar, drinking and gambling and the owner came out and said, "we're closed i thought i locked the door".
