The owners and staff are very pleasant, we were welcomed walking in the door. Nice open space, booths and tables, and everything is clean and sparkly, even the windowsills. Food arrived hot, and everything was tasty. The breaded items had just enough breading, and it was light and crispy. The shrimp tased like shrimp, not fishy or bland. The sweet and sour sausage has a nice balance and is not a sugary syrup. I had a cup of hot and sour soup which had lots of items in the soup, it was Rick and a little spicy and sour - left a nice tingle afterwards. We picked up food to go last night at Ocean Garden. It was pretty good! We ordered the General Tso chicken, it was sweet and delicious and a generous portion. We also ordered the Fried rice, vegetable Eggrolls and Crab Rangoon. The Eggroll was a little greasy. But the Rangoons were excellent! The wife and I live within 30 miles of this restaurant but had never even noticed it when driving by. We had a lunch that consisted of potstickers, General Tso's Chicken, steamed rice and Hot and Sour soup. The soup, chicken, and potstickers were all better than what we have locally. The General's Chicken and soup was not as good as what we used to have in California though. The sauce was different, not bad, but different. The soup a bit too much vinegar and salt for our liking. We will definitely try it again, maybe for the Chow Mein with pan fried noodles. Give it a try, well worth it. read more

Ocean Garden is still a very solid place to come for dinner on the coast! The staff are friendly and efficient. This is the second year we've come in with a larger group (10 adults, 3 four year olds and 3 babies) and they've put us in the group room at the back which is quite nice, not just for our group but for other diners that maybe don't want to deal with the energy of the kids or whatever. Potstickers are a favorite, as well as the lo mein and chow mein. For anyone that needs this, the lo mein as more of a Yakisoba-type noodle with a darker thicker sauce, whereas the chow mein with pan fried noodles is the small thin noodle with a clear sauce. Haven't a had bad experience here, they are consistent and the restaurant is comfortable. Will return again next year and make it an annual thing! read more

This is our favorite in the whole town. Great ambiance, not overdone and plenty of space between tables so that you do not have to listen to stranger's conversations. The service is very good and they are always friendly and willing to help us figure out what we want. I cannot say enough good things about the food. I usually order a large meal so I will have lunch for the next day. My favorite is the cashew chicken. My husband likes the pork lo mien or the kung pou chicken (not sure if I spelled that right). They have a children's menu and an American menu. Some friends of ours say that their cheese burger is the best in town. We intend to try it one day but we always end up ordering something Chinese. Well there is that amazing left over Chinese food that you want to eat tomorrow. Well this is not that food. The lunch we had was just bland. Nothing had any real flavor or real crisp either. We did the cashew chicken lunch order with the crab wanton(which were raw in spots and oily too) and I asked for chicken fried rice (which was an uptick of $3h and explained as each dish is made to order. So what does that mean? If it's made to order why can't you make chicken instead of pork at the same price? Then I did 2 items from below which were chicken sub gum and and chicken chow mein. Either had much flavor other than salty and bland....The items were $7.50 and $6.00 per the menu I saw on line but when I left I paid $18. Hmm maybe they need to update the menu if the prices are not correct on line. The veggies in all the dishes were soggy and just blah.... oh well we tried... read more

The best Chinese restaurant ever and we come from the East Coast with our many choices for Asian food. We have been craving Chinese and we found this on our way to crater lake from the Oregon coast. To our surprise this restaurant served an excellent broccoli dish and a mooshi vegetable dish. The pancakes were the light as we have ever had and the vegetables were cooked delicious Lee with a sauce that was yummy. The broccoli with stirfry with onions carrots and was fabulous. One cannot ask for a better dining experience than going to Chinese Garden. We highly recommend it. read more

We come here often when we are in town. I think it is the only Chinese restaurant in town and, luckily, we like it! We chose Crab Puffs as an appetizer- the serving is 10 for about $6 and they are fried perfectly and delicious. My husband got the Combination #4 which comes with soup, Fried Rice, Fried Shrimp, Mar Fan chicken, and sub-gum chow main. There are good portions of each item and they are tasty. I had the Chow Fun special. They bring the Chow Fun fresh from Portland daily. The noodles are tender with tons of chicken, thin slices of carrots, broccoli and bean sprouts with a flavorful brown sauce. Great place. I will be back-probably next week! read more

Very good place to eat Chinese food. The chow mien was like I use to have when I was young. No noodles just vegies that were tasty. The Won Ton soup was very good and had a lot of goodies in it. If you do not like noodles in your soup do not get the War won Ton soup. The fried rice was very good and fresh. One thing we didn't like was the Egg Foo Young, but then again that's our opinion. The portions were right on. Now on to the service. Alicia was one of the best waitresses I've ever had. Never hovering around you but there when you needed something. She almost read my mind. I do wish they sold smaller portions tho as their other soups. Huge bowl for $10 but a must share item. The complimentary hot tea was quite good esp on a chilly night. We also shared a combo plate with egg flower soup, fried shrimp, fried rice, and beef broccoli. All was good. I've never had worse Chinese food. Everything had a really weird burnt like flavor. The fried rice was oddly sweet. The egg flower soup smelled like feet and tasted just as bad. We had to throw everything away and get McDonald's. Extremely disappointing and for $60! What a rip off. read more

I would love to review the food but I was refused service. Manager Sherri was very rude when I offered to pay for my take out with Amex which they don't accept. I tried to pay with cash and mastercard but she got very belligerent and took the food away and refused to serve me. They only had 3 tables at lunch when I went so it wasn't as if it was too busy. ALSO, the bill should have totalled to $8 less, so either the zmenu.com is out of date, or she messed up the order as well. Not a lot of options in Reedsport but I can definitely recommend Tai's Dynasty in Coos Bay. Unless you want the "soup nazi" treatment, I would try elsewhere. read more

I like Chinese food and Ocean Garden's is on par with any other Chinese food I have had, but the people are wonderful. I placed a to-go order and they were so nice making sure I knew where the restaurant is and that my order was ready as soon as I was. I wish I could have given her a hug; she was nice, made sure she had given me enough condiments, and didn't ask me to hurry or anything. I recommend Ocean Garden. We tried Ocean Garden for the second time. Went last year when we were in the area. Husband had the War Wonton Soup and it was loaded with goodies. I had the Kung Pao Chicken which was enough to feed four people and the small order of Egg Foo Yung, again super huge patties (2). Everything was very good. Service was very quick. I saw several other combo plates which are around $9 and they were also jinormous. I recommend that the restaurant consider scaling down the amount of food they serve. A lot of food gets tossed I'm sure. Overall a very good experience. If you're in town and wanting Chinese food, don't hesitate. read more

Have been missing our wonderful Taste of China in Grants Pass ( I guess they moved away) but this place was a pleasant surprise. We read reviews and had been told that it was better than standard fare. It actually doesn't look like a restaurant from the outside, but it is really big, clean and comfy inside. We were promptly seated, given menus and tea. We placed our orders and were brought soup almost instantly. Egg flower soup was really fresh and clean. The hot and sour soup was just the right amount of heat. Orange chicken, Kung Pao and General Tso- all were fresh and tasty with plenty of sauce and rice. The portions are crazy big- and we only ordered lunch! Wait staff was friendly and very attentive. An excellent place to eat in Reedsport- we will visit again soon. read more
