After pulling into town we were looking for some fresh seafood and Griffs did not disappoint. The building is a low slung one story with indoor/outdoor carpet and four top tables. When you enter you pass a takeout area. The window views are of the waterway and boats. We were greeted and seated quickly. Kinda stark inside. We came in for clam chowder but it came with Texas toast instead of fresh sourdough, although they serve chowder by the bowl or in a sourdough bowl. We went to Crabbie's across the street instead. read more

Oh WOW! Griff's has it ALL!! The food is superb; especially the ciopinno, salmon and halibut nuggets! Jessie is not only beautiful, but efficient, friendly and aims to please. The location is unmatched. The window seating allows for such a gorgeous view of Winchester Bay. The water is less than 10 feet away from you!! Griffs is the BEST dining experience on the Bay! Have been going here for many years so was surprised that the food was so bad. I understand they have new owners. The fish and chips was terrible the fish was really fishy was over cooked on outside (hard) but the fish on the inside was barely cooked. Fries were not consistent some overcooked and some barely cooked. Breading was very salty and had a weird taste or maybe just because the batter was burned. Service was great and the decor had been updated and looked nice. read more

Everything about this restaurant is pretty wonderful. The portions are large, the food is delicious and the view is spectacular. We highly recommend this restaurant. I have the ahi tuna cooked rare with a baked potato and a nice salad with bay shrimp. . My husband had New England clam chowder and the captains platter. We also shared a bottle of Pinot Noir. We thought the prices were very fair and we would definitely come here again. read more

The restaurant is on the water, but that was about the only good thing. Food was very subpar. I ordered salmon which was just ok. Salad was lettuce and 2 grape tomatoes with bottled tasting dressing. Service was ok, but the restaurant is very old with indoor/outdoor carpet. read more

Located in the harbor. It is the perfect ambiance for a bay/harbor seafood restaurant. Staff were welcoming, friendly, and attentive. The was food was very fresh and superb. They serve crinkle fries and cole slaw with their platters. Highly recommend getting their crab and shrimp cocktail for an appetizer, and the fried fish an entree. read more

Went this evening for the Monday fish and chips special, our first visit to Griff's. Extremely happy with everything, the service, the food and prices. Mondays in January they offer the 3 piece fish and chips for just $10, and what a deal it is! We were served a heaping plate of large pieces of fish, fries, and home made cole slaw and tarter sauce. Can't say enough good things! Waiters were friendly and prompt, the atmosphere very comfortable. We'll definitely make a return visit to Griff's! Thank you. read more

Service was excellent, for just one person. The competition across the parking lot was closed for staffing issues, so this place was busier than usual. I enjoyed the lovely bay view and nautical decor while waiting. My salmon steak was very well cooked, and my salad came with bay shrimp. I also ordered 6 raw oysters, figuring that a quality seafood place like this would be able to serve those fresh even in July. They did, and they were delicious. read more

OMG you have to come here. The food and service was amazing. Seating right next to the water, delicious Halibut, Seafood Plater, French Dip (my husband even drank the remaining Au jus) and I had the seafood medley pasta. We have eaten here in the past and this experience was no less awesome. Sorry, I didn't take pictures this time, but there are plenty already. Two in our party had fish n chips. The batter was light and crunchy and the fish was moist and flaky. This was so fresh it was hard to believe. I had the shrimp battered and the scallops sautéed. Everything was superb. If you want seafood fresh and cooked to perfection, this is the only place to go. read more

stopped by on 11/12/25... met brand new owner "Justin".. this night he was doing everything... host, waiter, cook, dishwasher... such a pleasant person.. service was quick.. had bowl of clam chowder and crab sandwich.. Justin explained that he had made chowder gluten free.. chowder was fantastic, thick creamy with lots of clams.. crab sandwich was fresh... price was good considering the taste of food..older place and dated.. but do not change.. liked the atmosphere of a small town eatery.. read more

Fried fried fried. I guess this is the type of food folks want to eat around here but I just hoped for a more representative experience of what the fish tasted like. It all tasted like French fries with a seafood aftertaste. However I did try their clam chowder which was amazing and I highly recommend. It's the only thing I will order next time. read more

Ok, first of all, don't go here expecting a Back To The Future II themed restaurant. Because as cool as it would be to have a place dedicated to Biff's grandson Griff...this isn't that. Shame, though. It would have been cool to have Ronald Regan and Max Headroom swinging around on screens. What this place ACTUALLY is is a pretty kick-ass seafood restaurant. We had the misfortune of coming in right after an enormous table so it took a while to get our food, but the servers were super pleasant and apologetic. It's a small place, so you run that risk. The food was excellent, though. (Buuuut if you get steak order it several degrees rarer than you want it- my wife's "medium" steak was very well done.) The clam chowder was unique but excellent. Great prawns. Tasty herb toast. Great bay view. Shame about the lack of Deloreans, though. read more

Fried food galore. Fried calamari, fried shrimp, fried scampi, fried oysters, fried scallops, fries..... if in the mood for fried food, you are good. I was, so we went. It was ok, very very very greasy. Literally the oil dripping off my scallops and shrimp. One of my scallops was not cooked through and the waitress brought out a freshly fried one, much better. However, really, not able to fry some thing right? So overall, not impressed. read more

We are so pleased and will be back for sure!! Hubby says it's the 2nd best cioppino he's ever tasted... his Moms being first! The service is phenomenal, friendly staff, great prices, the kind of place you feel at home. I've hit this place every time I've been here, and have always had good food and good service. Same thing yesterday, with a shrimp Louie and a bowl of chowder for lunch. The chowder was good and meaty, unlike some I've had at other places. The shrimp Louie was excellent and more than filling. The service was exemplary. The view ... well, it's water-front. Not inspiring, but pleasant. Reading some past reviews, I'm not sure how some folks are so completely dissatisfied with the place. Maybe they just want to see their names in Yelp or maybe they're not satisfied with much of anything, or maybe they just had a bad day and want to take their attitude out on someone else. Who can say? Me, I definitely recommend this place for lunch. It's great! I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

We started off with the Clams Portuguese appetizer, and all LOVED it! In my opinion, it could have included a few more wheels of the Linguica, but the flavor was perfect. The drinks menu was very inviting, but considering that we were all extending our Dry January tradition, opted to try them on another visit. For our main course, my partner ordered the Beef Stroganoff. Being an aficionado of this dish, and having her own special recipe herself, she really loved how the flavors blended. Very little cheese and tasted really like old ingredients. Not sure. . . Probably ly won't have pizza their again . I was warned it wasn't really good. But not sure how u mess up pizza. Most disappointing was staff. .zshould of at least offer a refund or retry of something else. .probably just going to avoid it all together. Sad cause we live in the area.

My earlier post: First of all, we did make reservations since it is summer and quite busy this time of year; and let me say I have been to Kismets three times before and I was very happy. We have recommended it to several people we know, and brought our friends to dine last night, July 2nd. We were so disappointed. And we were embarrassed, having talked it up to our friends. Things started out okay; our waitress seemed young and possibly inexperienced, but we were okay with her lack of personality (no smile, no enthusiasm.) We had wonderful Brussels sprouts appetizer and the sushi roll was perfect, very beautiful to look at and equally delicious. I won't fault the guy who made them. But to begin with, we were given the small containers of wasabi and pickled ginger and chopsticks but no individual plates to enjoy the appetizers or sushi, and our waitress was not anywhere to be found for at least half an hour, but probably more. Our dinner finally arrived one hour and twenty five minutes after we had been seated. It was mostly good, but the huge lag in time and apparent indifference of our waitress really took the shine off the entire experience. My kismet tips had lovely flavor but was not evenly hot; for instance, some of the mushrooms were cool to lukewarm. My greatest gripe is the absolutely terrible service though. I cannot comprehend how the owner could be present in that room the entire time we were there and hardly looked at us at all and apparently was unaware of how poorly we were treated. (Was our order lost? why on earth did it take so long to be served?)

We had the crab cakes appetizer. I had a salmon dinner, my husband the sirloin tips. Our meals were very good. We had delicious desserts à la mode, one was like a moist chocolate brownie with Icecream and strawberries, one a fruit creme brûlée. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. He took our anniversary photo for us. We will like to come back again. Only other comment I'd give is that the stand alone tables, inside, seemed rather close quartered when all seats were used. There is seating outside but it was rather windy the evening we went so we ate inside.
