I was genuinely worried about what we were getting ourselves into when we decided to try Chubby's for the first time. But I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed the food! First thing's first: they're super serious about COVID which is great but just be aware they won't let you go into the restaurant with another person at the same time (I had to wait outside while my boyfriend went inside) and they only allow 5 people inside at one time. For food, we got the smothered fries - which were honestly very tasty - and the special steak burrito which is basically all steak and a little bit of cheese + chile - no rice, beans or filling. Crazy how much meat was in there! Not the best quality food but it was tasty for sure! We probably won't go out of our way to come here again, but if we're in the area, we'd go back! read more

I haven't been here in years. But I had to get this since Santiago's was closed the day I flew into Denver and I needed my green chile fix before heading into the mountains to visit family. I do not recommend attempting to eat these while driving. I was wearing a lot of it by the time I got home lol. But I highly recommend eating the smothered green chili fries in basically any other situation! My friend recently pulled me out from under the rock I had been living under and took me here for some tasty Mexican food. Ohhh....I was not disappointed. I was shocked to see that this restaurant only has 2 1/2 stars! Whenever I go to Chubby's the food is tasty and the service is good. I've only eaten at the Chubby's in Aurora. It has been said that food prices are going down, but so many restaurants continue to charge outrageous prices! Great food and decent prices given the current economic inflation conditions. While sitting for a few minutes waiting for our to go order, it's clear that it's a family run business which creates a warm, friendly environment. They also gave my wife her burrito for free because it was her birthday. Probably the only mild disappointment I had would be with the confusing SpotOn app they use for ordering. The app isn't set up intuitively to build a burrito by adding ingredients. After ordering inside the restaurant I now understand they have developed burrito types (plain, chili , special, smothered and deluxe) which are modifications of the basic burritos (bean, beef, chicken, etc) but it's not clear what each of those types contain. Safest way to get your order right is to go inside the first time and then after you have your burrito then ask them what to order in the app to get the same burrito. read more

I always see this place packed so I decided to try them out! First time ordering from here and the whole experience was a headache. Answering my first timer questions rudely like "what's in your normal burrito?" met with "anything you want?". I informed them as soon I started the order it was my first time there and halfway through my order the cashier asks, "is this your first time here?" Obviously.... Eventually we get our orders and both of them are missing toppings or have added ingredients we didn't ask for, mainly because the cashier rang in our order wrong. We called back to get a refund since our burgers were made incorrectly and we were already home yet they seemed offended to be asked for a refund, also stating no manager was there to adjust our credit card amount until after 6pm. During this pandemic, they are extremely strict with social distancing guidelines and are up-to-date with the latest safety precautions. They will NOT allow more than 5 people in the restaurant and if there is even one extra person, they will ask them to leave and stand outside. When I went, the service was incredibly fast even though I had to wait outside for about 10 minutes. I have been coming to this Chubby's since high school and am still coming even after graduating from university! Recently the quality of the green chile has been different from previous years which is super unfortunate because the green chile is the best here. No matter what, always get smothered fries. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries. There were plenty of fries--almost too many for me to eat. Came in on a Tuesday morning around 8:30, gentleman taking the order was efficient and straightforward, and the food took about 5 mins but I believe it's because they were making fresh crispy bacon which I def don't mind waiting for. Ordered 4 burritos and they all came out right. Ratio of fillings was great. We ordered: Egg and potato Egg and potato with cheese and chili (the "special")-- a good amount of chili but not drowning. I could see why some might say there's not enough but I thought it was fine. Egg and bacon plain Egg and bacon with cheese Everyone loved their food. Tortillas were soft and fresh. This place used to be a Taco Bell..Their hard shell taco was less to be desired. Kid was rude when I asked him why it's a hard shell taco, and he said "you didn't t ask for one!"
