I cannot speak much as to the vibe and service since every time I've had Los Carboncitos has been for take out or delivery. However, the food always delivers at a pretty reasonable price. Every time we order it, we have a good experience!

This was my favorite meal in Denver on my weekend trip. This place is legit & authentic. Walking in you can tell it's a family owned spot & full of flavor. Our sever was very nice & attentive to our larger group. The food was all so good! I loved that they had 5 different salsas and with a good level of spice and the tortilla chips were fresh and homemade. As an entree I had the chipotle shrimp which was amazing. The shrimp was juicy and flavorful. I also really liked the rice. 5/5 for me! Do not pass this place up! A true hidden gem.

Amazing tacos & margaritas!! Our waitress was so kind & attentive too. A staple in Sunnyside/LoHi Denver

Stepped inside and the vibe I got was more a family run, authentic type. I was really excited They give you homemade chips (I believe) and 4 kind of sauce + salsa. Ordered burrito y pollo, and plenty of tacos. Carnitas, carne asada, and barbacoda. The food was actually ok. I was expecting more. The meat for the tacos were pretty dry and the tacos were really small like street tacos but that was what I was expecting. The tortillas were actually pretty shrunken and dried so overall not a fan. My bf said the burrito felt like it was "Americanized" but the portion was definitely huge. Overall big portions and pretty cheap

$14 for this! What a steal! The food here is always on point. I got the Cochinita, Barbacoa, and Pescado tacos. This place is no frills, great food and service! It's a perfect place for date night, take out, or dine solo. A must visit hidden gem of Denver.

As a true north Denver native and supporter, let me tell you... this is my favorite menudo in town they only sell it on the weekends and it is worth the wait. The service is always on point I have never had one bad experience here with any of the staff. I love the recent upgrades to keep the place up to date but the food never changes for me. Lovvvvvvvveeeee los carnoncitos thank you's !

I have been here a few times but today was certainly the last time. The first few times were okay which is why I came back. The food was not amazing but it was pretty solid with reasonable prices and a low key vibe, perfect for a chill Mexican night. The last two times the service has gotten progressively worse. At the end of our meal we just sit there watching the waitresses talk to each other by the bar until about 30 minutes later they finally come by to close us out. Today the steak tacos where super tough and chewy, the queso which we got for the first time today was literally like melted mozzarella with some mediocre chorizo.. not at all like traditional queso. An absolute hot mess. Today we came in for a date night and the table next to us (which was a table that was also located smack in the middle of the restaurant) had a person experiencing homelessness who was allowed as customer, he was by himself eating dinner out of a takeout container while almost falling asleep, face super close to the plate, eyes closed for 10-15 min at a time and then he would perk up and eat a little. He was definitely high and it wasn't weed. We felt so bad for this person. I was on edge the entire time, concerned with the possibility of volatile behavior from a man who clearly was not doing well. My opinion is you should do takeout if you must try this place.

Following the Broncos game, we wanted something other than fast food. As other Yelpers have shared, it's hard to find solid Mexican food in Denver. Los Carboncitos is mediocre by Arizona standards, but the best Denver has shown me so far. Los Carboncitos is located on the corner of a residential neighborhood. As such, only street parking is available. The restaurant was packed even at the late hour of 10PM. The tables are seated extremely close together where the back of my chair was touching the back of the chair of the table behind me. Music was blaring and the TVs were playing random YouTube videos and the soccer game. Complimentary chips and salsa is always appreciated, and the salsas were all pretty good- one was pretty spicy! Between the two of us, we had the pescado, chorizo, bistec, and pastor tacos. The pastor taco was surprisingly good; a good balance of the sweet you come to expect with pastor; definitely recommend! The chorizo was good as well, a touch salty (but how do you mess up chorizo?) The pescado was bland; I drowned it in salsa. The bistec (steak/carne) taco was BAD. Extremely chewy and bland. Hoping to find better in Denver!

Los Carboncitos is an excellent choice for Mexican food. We love grabbing takeout from here when we don't want to cook as their burritos are an easy and tasty option. I love the fajita burrito because it has peppers and onions cooked in with your choice of chicken or steak. You have to get the burrito smothered! Los Carboncitos also has four salsas. The red and orange salsas are very spicy but so flavorful! The orange is my favorite. Check it out for good Mexican for a good price!

    Salsas are amazing

I have been away from Denver for extended years. Last night I went to Tacos Jalisco and ate sub par food. My friend says...Los Carboncitos is the bomb....darn right! Great food...crispy carnitas....friendly staff. I literally dropped my review of Tacos Jalisco because this place makes them a joke.

    Carboncitos fajitas, chips and salsa.

Let's start with where it all began- the 5 salsas that I got immediately upon entry. YES!!!!!!! Amazing flavor and free chips! Next up, I ordered the fajitas.... The Carboncitos fajitas with 4 meats. Y'all, I should have brought a family of 5 with me. So. Much. Meat! Homemade tortillas. Excellent, fast service. I FINALLY found good Mexican food like in Texas/New Mexico (I've lived in both). For the sake of criticism, the skinny Margarita was kinda gross... but that's the risk you run of ordering a skinny. I almost didn't want to post this because this is my new hidden jem.

Where do you park at this place? Not having a lot or street parking is very strange for a sit-down restaurant. Unfortunately it made me choose to eat somewhere else.

We park on the street, really not too hard.

Looking at taco places, I went with something close by to our location and found this hidden gem. Nestled away on a small street corner of Clay Street and 32nd Ave. parking can be scarce, but I'm sure with the right time and a little bit of walking you will find and manage your way here. Outside the restaurant, they have a small seating area which now is winter too cold to enjoy, but I'm sure in the spring and summer and fall time is super enjoyable. The inside, though a little bit tiny and no cozier than going to your mom's house and expecting a family Filled living room/Kitchen. We went down and greeted by three smiling faces. We already looked at the photos online and knew we want tacos so opted with the chicken tacos and Carne Asada taco plates. The tacos place option came with 5 tacos with up to 2 choices of meats the ratio would be 2:3 .. freshly mashed guacamole made in front of you or freshly sliced avocado.. In the pictures I listed you will find each chicken and Carne Asada options. Both slow pictures missing two tacos because we devoured them as soon as we got into the truck. Their street tacos are heavenly! Chicken option was all chicken breast super juicy grilled to perfection five tacos on a plate another two tacos missing because my husband and I devoured it. This plate came we asked it with the guacamole option instead of fresh avocado. The carne asada was just FULL of flavor and the fresh avocado slices with green tomatillo salsa SLAPPED.. the tortillas are super soft and tears from how fresh the flour tortillas were!! Definitely a place to sit and eat there to enjoy the hot food. I'm originally from SoCal and a heavily populated Latinos with amazing tacos and food.. Taqueria La Familia passed the bar high!! We can't wait to come back and try other options and will update pictures and review then!

I started going when they were still operating out of their food truck, and honestly, watching them grow into a permanent restaurant feels like seeing your favorite underground band finally make it big... except instead of music, they're dropping cheesy taco masterpieces. The queso tacos are absolutely ridiculous in the best possible way: crispy, cheesy, messy, and worth ruining at least one shirt over. And the consome? That stuff could heal emotional damage. It's rich, comforting, and somehow makes you immediately want "just one more taco" even when you're already full. Every time I'm in Denver, this place is mandatory. Not optional. Not "if there's time." Mandatory. My vacation itinerary basically starts with flights and ends with tacos. So happy to see Kike's getting the recognition they deserve. If you haven't been yet, prepare to have your standards permanently ruined for all other tacos.

It's also very unassuming. It looks like a very small restaurant on the outside but once you are inside, you'll be shocked to see its good size dining area. This place is all about happiness. I mean seriously!! They care about their customers that get satisfied with their service and meals. And it does draw a very diverse crowd from the Hispanics to Caucasians to Asians, I mean you name it. They also get a lot of to-go orders. Some people came in, grabbed their food and went on their way for the night. My friend got the Torta Los Carboncito. This is a massive sandwich with plenty of meat inside. Since the menu has colored picofor almost each item, what caught my attention was the fish dish. There are two of them: one is trout and the other is something else (I forgot) but I got me the non-trout one. The lady asked me if I wanted the flour or corn tortillas so I went with the corn one. As soon as I got home, my late night snacking started. I only took several bites out of that whatever the huge fish. And oh my goodness, it was so delicious! Well-seasoned with very light salt. Although I mainly got it for tomorrow morning/lunch I had a hard time quit eating because of its deliciousness. Extremely welcoming staff (I even met the owner, Alex as he was dining with his family), quality food and value pricing, this place checks out for the hidden gem restaurant that's not necessarily super fancy but it's worth every penny and time. Yelping is so much fun. That is why I cannot quit my foodie-ness! What a nice discovery!
