We had an excellent meal. Some of our party breakfast ed on eggs benedict, others omelets and a full American breakfast with the largest pancakes I've ever seen. I don't do eggs so I had a tasty turkey, bacon and lettuce sandwich on a pretzel roll with chips. Mine was delicious and I guess all the empty plates meant the rest ha a good meal. This places is my brother in laws favorite. Since there was a Sunday crowd, we ate on the patio. The rest of our group ate inside. They can handle a group of 6 with ease. Went here seeking a good quality, traditional breakfast, ya know, the 2 eggs, potatoes, toast, coffee. All I found on the menu were large portions to order from and exorbitant prices for the offerings. Many ordered the Benedicts/poached egg platters, looked pretty sizable in larger portions, the ratio of respective fat and cholesterol, sky high. After all, for high end prices such portions suffice for most people but I'm not into gorging on a pile of (unhealthy) breakfast foods in one sitting. A regular sized portion at normal prices is usually the case at 99% places I've gone to. So, maybe it's slightly personal for me but as well, I'm no stranger to breakfast fare and eateries, I find this one over the top in price point and the food looks just okay and the coffee is weak, I hate breakfast places that cheap out like this. Many do it! Now, I've had some killer breakfasts in my travels, I'm very willing to pay higher for good, eventful food, including a breakfast but here it seemed like so not worth the charge. Coffee was on the light side, in that it's the cheapo diluted stuff many diners use. I settled on the Belgian waffle, that's nothing I normally would get eating breakfast out but I was put off by the menu choices and prices, so much so that I refused to subscribe to it. I got a waffle only since I sat down already and coffee was served or I would've left. Look, I'm from the NY/NJ metro area and we have far cheaper, good breakfasts by us. I get snobby like this because I know what I know. I conclude to say I don't care if you make the best breakfast in the USA (which I'm sure they don't), no matter what, I will not pay over $9.00+ tax for your breakfast of 2 eggs, potatoes, toast. PLUS the coffee, you can add on $2 more plus decent tip, my server was nice. read more

My boyfriend and I went here one morning while in Sarasota visiting my parents and had a very lovely experience. Unfortunately, it was quite chilly that morning, so we weren't able to eat outside, but they had patio furniture on the sidewalk that looked comfy that we would definitely have taken advantage of. The hostess who greeted us was upbeat and our server, Doug was friendly and super efficient. My BF went with eggs, home fries, rye toast and sausage patties and I went with the Western omlette and hash browns. Definitely get the hash browns. They are delish! The Broken Egg is good, but not great. There are so many breakfast/brunch options in Sarasota and this restaurant just falls average for me. My scrambled eggs and potatos were good, but not great. Nice menu selection of pancakes omlettes, and french toast. The staff is friendly, but the service is slow when the restaurant gets packed. We went to this place for breakfast on Saturday morning and it was packed! We were able to call ahead and put our names on the list so we were seated right away. You could tell the waitresses were very busy but still very kind and helpful when ordering! Our waitress was Victoria and she was wonderful! I had the Broken Egg Breakfast and was very satisfied. It was dry and the cheese to crab ratio was extremely unbalanced: in favor of cheese, and while appreciate they used fresh crab, I still don't enjoy biting into a piece of shell. I'd give this place another go, the service was wonderful (she was able to take $3 off for my uneaten omelette) and there is a nice breeze on the patio for some outdoor breakfast dinning. I stopped here for brunch and I will definitely come back again. The orange juice is incredible and it's freshly squeezed on site! They have a special juice machine that slices and squeezes the juice right out of the orange. It's so refreshing to have real orange juice instead of the processed or concentrate stuff. I ordered a skillet with potatoes and cheese with a couple eggs on top cooked over-easy. The eggs were slightly over cooked, but everything still tasted amazing so, I won't deduct a star for this. There was plenty of cheesy goodness in the skillet as well. The fruit served as a side was very fresh. The service was friendly and prompt. The restaurant was well-kept and clean. Being that I work right across from this place, we tend to order food here whenever we have luncheons. I enjoy their salads and veggie burger. The salads are loaded with veggies and fruit and the veggie burger has a nice tex mex taste. The sweet potato fries are okay, I find them bland and sometimes soggy. My coworkers love the chicken pecan melt and sweet potato fries. I look forward to trying more meals from them. read more

Just had an amazing breakfast. Drove to multiple places that had horrible lines but walked right into The Original Egg and sat down. It was busy as well but the service was prompt considering. I had the Lox Egg Benedict and my wife had Eggs Benedict with a pancake on the side. The one plate pancake is literally the size of a plate and tastes like gingerbread, it was delicious. Best lunch I've had in awhile!!! I was craving a fresh, healthy, vegetable-heavy lunch and that's exactly what I found here. I got the chicken salad. It was the perfect amount of portion controlled pecan chicken salad, atop greens with many raw veggies, a side of fruit, and a slice of banana nut bread. I felt great after eating it! Also, there were many other amazing looking salad and sandwich options for the health-conscious. My grandpa got a Cobb salad with grilled chicken that was delicious as well. Basically it tastes like they don't season anything, everything either needed salt or butter or spices, the sausage patty was especially weak and was definitely frozen and reheated. Fake maple syrup. We were seated immediately and ordered right away, but it took almost an hour to get food. My date ordered a waffle and side of bacon, the bacon came 15 or 20 minutes after the waffle. We've been coming to this for years. It is on our rotation of breakfast places we eat at when we are on vacation. Today's experience was not good. The food was great, but the atmosphere and ambience was definitely lacking. Everything felt very tense. Part of our order was missing. Waitresses at the drink stations taking to each other and dropping S bombs that we could hear and we are there with our kids. Tension checking out. Definitely not a vacation experience. This is a review from a poor experience I had yesterday while trying to have breakfast. We notified our server that one of the people in our party had a dairy allergy, and that everything had to be made without dairy, including fresh pans and utensils. We've eaten at this broken egg numerous times and it has never been an issue. Well today for some reason it became one, as the server said what we asked couldn't be done. So we asked for a manager and we were then promptly told the same by the manager. That they would not serve the person in my party because of her dairy allergy. Because they couldn't guarantee her safety and that truthfully they were too busy to even try. This was quite funny because they were not on a wait and were only mildly busy, and it seemed like the manager just didn't want to accommodate my party member. We've been coming to this location for years now, but will no longer do so, as the manager and server were incredibly rude about the whole episode, not to mention pretty much discriminatory. Pass on this place and go get a better breakfast at Millie's or Eggstrordinary. Update - the owner keeps pestering me on yelp and I've responded in kind and now she claims she gonna calls the cops on me for harassment. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I drive for Uber Eats and i'm working on easter day to make sure people have food to eat so they don't have to get out of the house during the virus. i walk in, was ignored by every employee in the building, idk if it was my appearance (i'm a mixed raced female) and there were nothing but caucasian women in the restaurant so i already felt "out of place" when i wasn't even greeting until i had to raise my voice to get someone's attention. so i go and stand in the back of the restaurant, you know, to stay out of the way (something i shouldn't have to do in a restaurant) only to see the two women in the front whispering back and forth, i'm pretty sure one of them was a manager. if you think i'm just being dramatic wait until i tell you this, there were 3 orders sitting on the back of the desk, i wasn't questioning anything because of course i know how busy everything is now a days, but i watched these "ladies" pass out every order and then act like she didn't see me (i forgot to mention i had walked and sat in the front of the restaurant because everyone was clearing out by now) even though i was in front, then jumps up and saids "oh are you for "uber blank" i said yes. and then proceeds to say "oh i have that one" after it sat on the counter for over 20 minutes when i could've been onto another order, so i wouldn't recommend to anyone other than caucasians if you don't want to be treated like an animal read more
