Ordered the hot sandwich (base heat), chicken tenders and wings (mild heat). Everything is freshly made. The sandwich was good, but I should have ordered the after burner because the base wasn't spicy at all. Tenders and wings are cooked well. I wasn't a fan of the sauce. I can't describe why, but it just didn't wow me (but it didn't gross me out either). Service was friendly. Seating at a table is tough. read more

This one bummed me out. I'm a huge fan of hot chicken, so I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant and the pics looked delicious. Unfortunately, I either tried it on a really off day or my taste buds just weren't in it. I tried the hot chicken tenders, but they were like chewing through pieces of steak that had been cooked too long. Very tough and dry. The sauce surprised me, but not in a bad way. It has a really sweet base coat and then hot top coat. At first I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, but I think I did. Haha. My husband had a sandwich and thought it was good; he didn't share a bite though. I really enjoyed their french fries, Which is slightly unusual for me to comment on. There was a powder dusting on something sprinkled on them, and it was really evenly dispersed and tasty. Maybe I'll try this place again and see if the main entree disappointment was a fluke. The quality of the chicken breast is good, but cut slightly too thin for 'Chicken Tenders". The sauce that all flavors come in is very sweet and sticky, not like a typical hot chicken spot with a dry rub, which I prefer. If this place would limit that sweetness to the sauce to only one flavor on the menu, and make the other sauces less sweet/more of a dry rub this spot would be much better. Unfortunately because the chicken has a lot of sugar you can taste in all flavors, I will not be returning. If you like Korean style stuff, this place might be for you. read more

Look, simply put the place is halfway decent, no doubt. However, it is just downright no Hot Chicken, or at least not the way I imagine Hot Chicken being. It is far more like sauced tenders, that are in fact good. The service was fast and the place was clean, but parking was somewhat tight. read more

So I finally came to this place! I get my haircut next-door and so I decided after an appointment to go and try this place for lunch. I ordered the chicken fingers and an order of fries to go. I can't remember the sauce they cook the chicken in but it was more tangy:sweet than hot (they have probably 15 different options). I also got two sides of honey mustard and a side of their standard sauce for the fries. I should have paid more attention to what I was ordering, but my expectations were not very high. Why I don't know. I was blown away by this Hot Chicken place! I could not believe how delicious the two chicken tenders were and the fries. First off I was thinking like a basket of chicken tenders. Oh no, you get two because they're each the size of a chicken breast. And the fries were hot crispy yet on the inside as fluffy as air! Hands-down, the best chicken tenders and fries I have ever had! And I'm not joking. The gentleman at the register was great even when I was asking questions and I was not making any sense. I really appreciate he did not look at me like I was crazy. Let's walk through my experience. Their shared parking lot is small and not user friendly. Access from Tamiami isn't great from the east side. On a Wednesday night at 6:50 the place was sort of dark, but seemed clean. The young woman that served me at the counter was professional and nice enough, but I would not call her unfriendly but very no non-sense and not briming with personality. As I was the only customer maybe she was letting boredom get to her. I placed my order, chicken and waffles and a side of Mac and Cheese. The order was to go. I live 5 minutes from this location, if there is traffic. When I got home I ate immediately. The waffles were soggy. My guess is the way they pack their cardboard contain is the problem. The moisture from the freshly cooked chicken is soaked in by the waffles. Since I hate soggy food, the waffles were disappointing, although their flavor wasn't all bad. They do seem to use a bit much vanilla (think it was vanilla) in their batter. The chicken was not at all crispy. Had the chicken was tender, had nice flavor but the skin was kinda gross it was so soggy. The price, with tip, was okay. The value just wasn't there. This is my second visit there in 3 years. I doubt I'd rush back or recommend the place. There are just to many places in SRQ that offer a better ROI. Now, crispy chicken and waffles I don't have to ring out, I'd go back. read more

Visiting area and saw HCK Chicken had Nashville Hot chicken, always a go-to when I am on the road. They did not disappoint! Tenders are huge, hand breaded and cooked to order. Cook even checks internal temp of each piece before placing in sauce. I opted for the Trinidad Scorpion (very hot with excellent taste) and grabbed a bottle to take home with me. I recently tried HCK and the food was delicious. They have so many flavors to choose from and the chicken is cooked perfectly. We tried three different flavors and they were amazing, really spot on in taste. The staff was incredibly helpful to explain the flavors so I knew what I wanted to order. The staff is friendly and helpful. I loved the mac and cheese BTW, really good. I would have to say parking is a little difficult for the location , so be careful parking. Honestly needed hangover food on a Sunday and got the Nashville chicken sandwich with base sauce and my sister got the tenders with After Burn sauce. Chicken was dropped after we ordered it. It was fresh, crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. Sauces are spicy with a slight bit of sweetness. The service was top notch. Lisa was great. She let us try a couple sauces, answered our questions, and I even saw her clear a table for someone that walked in when this is a fast casual place. She is attentive and kind. There is limited seating in this restaurant. I think this place is fairly new but an amazing addition to Sarasota. The manager/owner was super nice since it was our first time visiting. He let us try the different spice levels. There's 4 different spice levels and we opted for the 2nd one. The flavors are more sweet and then had a little after kick. The wings were meaty and the sandwich was huge!! The fries were amazing with their house sauce. All of their sauces were good! Food was amazing! As I was trying to open my glass Jarrito I dropped it and it shattered everywhere! I felt so bad but the staff were SO kind and cleaned it up and replaced it quickly! One star for prices, but five stars for taste. I ordered the combo number 2 which is chicken tenders and fries, the drink is not included and costs an additional 2.79. So you're looking at over $16 for two big tenders and a small helping of fries and a soda. I was looking forward to trying this place after reading about it on the news. It tasted great, but the prices are out of control for the amount of food you get. These are restaurant prices, and this place is fast food. The chicken sandwich can easily become a chicken addiction. It was beyond delicious! The fries are well seasoned with greatness. When you order your meals, you can see into the kitchen which is spanking clean, as well as the rest of the restaurant. Our food was made fresh, no fried chicken just waiting around like a typical fast food joint. Our cashier gave us some suggestions on sauces. I settled on The Hitman, a double patty smashed burger with American cheese, hen sauce, fried mozzarella, Nueske's bacon, with a side of garlic parm fries. It isn't listed on the online menu but there is a note the menu changes frequently so it may not match the day's offering. Let me start by saying that two of the people at my table got salads and were disappointed that there was too much lettuce and too little other stuff. With that out of the way, let me talk about The Hitman, which I loved. What is Nueske bacon? This is a special smoked flavorful bacon made by the Nueske family. Fork & Hen uses thick cut, and there were two slices on my burger. My burger towered so high there was no hope of picking it up, so I attacked it with knife and fork. Being made with Focaccia bread certainly added to the height, but so did a thick block of mozzzrella cheese. The cheese, melted on the inside and crispy on the outside, was substantial. I would be careful biting into a hot block of melted cheese, think pizza mouth. In my photo I broke into one corner to show that is cheese, so much cheese. My favorites are a gyro on pita and the south of the border wrap with a side of mashed potatoes. Basil's is a chicken joint but you gotta get the gyro at least once, trust, it's so good. The gyro and south of the border are packed with meat and veg too. They don't skimp on the stuffing. The baklava isn't too sweet and very flaky. The owners and all the workers are so nice. Love supporting this local, family-run business.
