This one bummed me out. I'm a huge fan of hot chicken, so I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant and the pics looked delicious. Unfortunately, I either tried it on a really off day or my taste buds just weren't in it. I tried the hot chicken tenders, but they were like chewing through pieces of steak that had been cooked too long. Very tough and dry. The sauce surprised me, but not in a bad way. It has a really sweet base coat and then hot top coat. At first I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, but I think I did. Haha. The quality of the chicken breast is good, but cut slightly too thin for 'Chicken Tenders". The sauce that all flavors come in is very sweet and sticky, not like a typical hot chicken spot with a dry rub, which I prefer. If this place would limit that sweetness to the sauce to only one flavor on the menu, and make the other sauces less sweet/more of a dry rub this spot would be much better. So I finally came to this place! I get my haircut next-door and so I decided after an appointment to go and try this place for lunch. I ordered the chicken fingers and an order of fries to go. I can't remember the sauce they cook the chicken in but it was more tangy:sweet than hot (they have probably 15 different options). I also got two sides of honey mustard and a side of their standard sauce for the fries. I should have paid more attention to what I was ordering, but my expectations were not very high. Why I don't know. I was blown away by this Hot Chicken place! I could not believe how delicious the two chicken tenders were and the fries. First off I was thinking like a basket of chicken tenders. Oh no, you get two because they're each the size of a chicken breast. And the fries were hot crispy yet on the inside as fluffy as air! Hands-down, the best chicken tenders and fries I have ever had! This place had great service and tasty food. The chicken was crunchy and spicy. Fries crispy and I loved their sauce.

Let's walk through my experience. Their shared parking lot is small and not user friendly. Access from Tamiami isn't great from the east side. On a Wednesday night at 6:50 the place was sort of dark, but seemed clean. The young woman that served me at the counter was professional and nice enough, but I would not call her unfriendly but very no non-sense and not briming with personality. As I was the only customer maybe she was letting boredom get to her. I placed my order, chicken and waffles and a side of Mac and Cheese. The order was to go. I live 5 minutes from this location, if there is traffic. When I got home I ate immediately. The waffles were soggy. My guess is the way they pack their cardboard contain is the problem. The moisture from the freshly cooked chicken is soaked in by the waffles. Since I hate soggy food, the waffles were disappointing, although their flavor wasn't all bad. They do seem to use a bit much vanilla (think it was vanilla) in their batter. The chicken was not at all crispy. Had the chicken was tender, had nice flavor but the skin was kinda gross it was so soggy. The price, with tip, was okay. The value just wasn't there. This is my second visit there in 3 years. I doubt I'd rush back or recommend the place. There are just to many places in SRQ that offer a better ROI. Now, crispy chicken and waffles I don't have to ring out, I'd go back. read more

I recently tried HCK and the food was delicious. They have so many flavors to choose from and the chicken is cooked perfectly. We tried three different flavors and they were amazing, really spot on in taste. The staff was incredibly helpful to explain the flavors so I knew what I wanted to order. The staff is friendly and helpful. I loved the mac and cheese BTW, really good. I would have to say parking is a little difficult for the location , so be careful parking. Visiting area and saw HCK Chicken had Nashville Hot chicken, always a go-to when I am on the road. They did not disappoint! Tenders are huge, hand breaded and cooked to order. Cook even checks internal temp of each piece before placing in sauce. I opted for the Trinidad Scorpion (very hot with excellent taste) and grabbed a bottle to take home with me. It was fresh, crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. Sauces are spicy with a slight bit of sweetness. The service was top notch. Lisa was great. One star for prices, but five stars for taste. I ordered the combo number 2 which is chicken tenders and fries, the drink is not included and costs an additional 2.79. So you're looking at over $16 for two big tenders and a small helping of fries and a soda. I was looking forward to trying this place after reading about it on the news.
