This is a must visit place when you're in Stillwater! This Hideaway is amazing! The inside has a great ambiance to it. It's neatly decorated and very clean. The bathrooms are very clean too! They also had some fun music playing the in the bathroom. The service here was great! All of the employees here were very kind and helpful. It was super funny to watch them yell "Corner!" every time they turned a corner. The food here was amazing! I really enjoyed their pizza and my friend enjoyed his pasta. This was the original hideaway, and I was very excited to try it. All of the employees were very nice and nothing went wrong. The mozzarella sticks were very good and we all enjoyed them. We came to Stillwater to take our grandson out to lunch. We gave him a choice of where he wanted to eat and out of all the restaurants near OSU, he chose Hideaway. This isn't just any Hideaway, but the original. They do things a little different here. The crust is different and, in my opinion, better. I am so glad we have a grandson with impeccable taste in food. He not only chose an excellent restaurant, but a very delicious pizza off the menu. We started with fried mushrooms that looked so good Dan and I both completely forgot to take pictures before they were gone. The breading was fried perfectly and the mushrooms were hot and juicy. Our grandson's favorite pizza, Paradise Pie, might have just become my favorite, too. It had a nice variety of ingredients: chicken, bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, and spinach. I don't usually like bacon on pizzas. I did like it on this pizza. I think the difference is that Paradise Pie comes with Alfredo sauce instead of red sauce. It is a very good combination. We got friendly service. I loved looking at the decorations, which reflected the college community. We had an amazing time visiting our grandson and sharing this fantastic meal with him. read more

Some of the locations outside of Stillwater are not - in my opinion - as good as the original. The original certainly maintains its high standards. Drove to Stillwater to take our OSU grandson to lunch. Started with an appetizer of fried mushrooms served with ranch and marinara dipping sauces. Yum! Caution. They come out very hot. Ordered the Paradise pie. It has Alfredo sauce and grilled chicken with bacon, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes and mozzarella and provolone cheeses. Really good stuff. We started with the mushrooms then enjoyed a pepperoni pizza. The food was great but what really made the experience special was the service staff. Abby and Owen were fantastic. Maybe it was because it was the first weekday after the students had gone home but they were super attentive. Ordered a double pepperoni pizza for delivery and there were maybe 2 slices of pepperoni per slice. We called and they only offerers us $3 off the whole pizza which still makes it $32. (I never got the refund) The owner was very rude on the phone and said she didn't want to send out another pizza during their peak hours. We ordered here frequently but after this treatment we we will be ordering from empire instead. Most originals are hard to duplicate, and the original hideaway is a perfect example. I've been to several of its offspring, but there's just nothing like the iconic feeling of the Stillwater original. The campus corner ambiance can not be duplicated, some would call it a little tired but that is the best part of years of memories for so many. I love the mini pies here, in particular the little kahuna with just beginner salad and a local brew. They work any weekend wait down quickly by all the staff doing everything. I was impressed. Pizza, bruschetta, and spin dip. Great. Service not so much. We ordered our 4 mini pizzas and apps with each having a soft drink or draft beer. We receive the drinks and immediately the server drops off the check. We sit and wait while the apps come out. Then pizza. They bring out a wrong pizza and immediately take it back to make a new one. The person then brings back a check again with 50% that pizza. But yet they didn't take off the charged for additional toppings she didn't want in the first place , so that didn't even matter. We continue to sit with only people running food. All drinks are dry. The last new pizza comes out and we ask for a ranch and a refill. One refill of tea and a ranch and never again will an employee be near us. We wait and wait and finally flag down someone for boxes. The guy while we ask for boxes asks to clear our table instead. All in all, I would try again because the pizza was good. But don't be in a hurry and ask for at least 2 drinks at a time since you won't ever get a refill but will get charged for everything. read more

With family in Stillwater, I've been going to Hideaway for as long as I can remember. There is no other restaurant that can make fried mushrooms like them!! They are best with marinara or creamy Italian. Also, they have an unbelievable lunch menu - you can get a mini pizza and salad for under $10, that's with me adding extra toppings on the pizza and salad (I love the in betweener salad style so I always add ham, turkey and cheddar to my salad which is a dollar or so extra, and the pizza comes with 1 topping but it's not much to add more - if you do it the way it comes you're looking at under $8 I think!). I can't visit Stillwater without stopping here - usually more than once haha. Their pizza is great, not too thin or thick. I'm super excited I am getting a Hideaway near where I live, I hope it is just as good as the original location! read more

Before we graduated, we obviously had to stop by this iconic Stillwater spot. We started off with the beginners salad with Parmesan dressing and the cheesy bread! For our main meals, we got the pepperoni pizza, the sausage pizza, and the build your own. The build your own was the classic marinara with spinach, tomatoes, and chicken. Even though everything was delicious, something just hits so different than a classic Hideaway Pepperoni Pizza! Definitely going to miss this spot next year! Overall, the service can be spotty. We had an amazing waiter this day that we came but in the past it's just been average. There's something very nostalgic about coming to Hideaway in Stillwater. While taking the Man Child up to OSU for his Sophomore year we were looking for places to go eat on Yelp OF COURSE. We tried to hit another spot but they were closed for kitchen renovations and so i looked again and he said he had heard of The Hideaway and was supposed to be good. We hustled over to get us some food. It is right on the south side of campus so it is an easy walk to visit for the student. When we walk in it was a dark and dated decor that looked to be original when they opened the place and it was FANTASTIC!! Finally a spot with character and KITES!!! While people watching it is clear this is a favorite spot with the locals and that is always a good sign!! The best was an elderly couple and he was wearing a sharp OSU orange button down shirt and overalls!! We ended up going with the Big Country pizza because either go big or go home. I also started with the house salad. I will say the medium was way more filling that the two of us could take down and so like everyone else leaving ...we left with a box!! The pizza was tasty!! Our order did come out super slow but they took care of us without even having to ask which was super nice of them. Clearly the big country got lost in the big kitchen!! YIKES!!!!!! My friend and I drove three hours to Stillwater for our very first time. We went to Hideaway after many recommendations and were looking forward to indulging in a delicious drink after our long drive. Too bad for my poor friend, she turns 23 soon and they took her REAL ID and refused to serve her. We asked if there were options in order to prove her age, but they were unwilling to work with us. We told them to call the cops, they didn't. The manager told us she was trying to protect their liquor license, but what is the point of having a liquor license if you aren't going to serve 21+ guests alcohol !!! The manager was QUIVERING because she knows she illegally took the ID and gave it back after many arguments. If you are a 21+, normal human, wanting to drink, then don't come here!!! We were in town for a softball game and looking for something tasty to fill our belly's. With not much to really choose from in Stillwater we opted for what we thought would be a great option. The place was packed with lots of the local crowd on their Friday lunch break it was a bit noisy and the decor was definitely interesting. But hey it's a college town. Have some fun. We ordered ther famous Fried Mushrooms and the spinach dip for an appetizer and I got the "in-betweener" salad. We both ordered a small pizza.. the mushrooms and dip were pretty good and my salad was much bigger than anticipated. The salad was hard to eat because the bowl was so full. But we'll worth the price and the grated ham was good in it. We were extremely disappointed in the pizza. Everything about it was mediocre. The dough was dense and the topping were low quality. The red sauce was just crushed tomatoes and tasted like a tin can. No seasoning what so ever. Other people were ordering sandwiches and they looked good. For a few years I have given Hideaway Pizza in Stillwater another try , time after time but it continues to fail in leaving up to the orginal owners 20yrs ago and is not even in the same league as the Hideawy in Norman or Tulsa which are 10x better. The ingredients are not as fresh as others, cheese is worse, toppings not as tasty, crust tastes totally different. IDK how a franchise can taste so much different than other great tasting ones, but the Stillwater location is the worse.
