Had a great dinner at Italian Pie in Slidell! I had the chicken alfredo sandwich, and it was fantastic, hot, cheesy, and very flavorful. Girlfriend got the spinach and artichoke dip very yummy. It was super creamy, and the fresh pita chips that came with it were great. They must have been out of A/C, but had the portable ones set up, so it was nice and comfortable even though it was 6 PM on a hot summer night in Louisiana. Six months later, I tried the seared tuna salad again. Two-thirds of the spinach was old and slimey. Took me 15 minutes to pick out the slimey leaves. INEXCUSABLE. Someone needs to train the cooks. If you gon't have fresh spinach, ask the customer if they'd like lettuce instead, or don't make the dish until you have fresh ingredients. read more

We LOVED this place! We had the lunch special and it was way more than enough food. We paid the $1 extra to upgrade the garlic bread, but we did not know it would be basically a mini pizza. It as a lot of bread to go with pasta, but it was delicious. The lunch special price was more than fair. I loved that the lasagna was made with beef instead of sausage (I hate sausage). It was all delicious. Nice atmosphere. The hand dryer and toilet in the womens bathroom seemed to be powered by jet engines, but both worked excessively well. Service was excellent. Monday lunch with a friend. We were one of the first to arrive. Open layout, lots of outside lighting, reasonably quiet. Seated quickly. Drink orders placed and arrived. These never went dry, and our server even offered to go cups at the end of our meal. My meal of a "mini calzone" and pasta salad was very good. Pasta salad was not swimming in dressing, and the calzone was HUGE and had great flavor. The only yuck to this meal was the dipping marinara sauce. Texture was kind of gross and not sure what was wrong with the flavor, but totally off. Lunch pricing very reasonable: $11.99. Husband's to go chicken cacciatore ($14.99) was ready when we were. Ate at home. Caesar salad dressing was great, and lots of cheese. Pasta had plenty of chicken, thinly sliced (love this!), large chunks of onion and pepper. Good thing about this is if you aren't an onion fan, you can pick them out and still enjoy the meal. Plenty of pasta as well, unfortunately to the point where there wasn't enough sauce and I had to add some out of my refrigerator. Half the pasta would have been ample. Added garlic bread ($.99) was great, even reheated; served like a mini cheese pizza. Check out went quick and easy. I'd definitely return when in the area and craving Italian. I have been a loyal customer here for years, but in the past 3 months the service, food, and atmosphere are noticeably worse.... My last visit they sat me at a greasy table. The restaurant was filled with flies with one landing in my drink. Pizza was greasy and undercooked. The bread on the sandwich looked like someone had taken a bite out of it. Really disappointed. I went there for lunch at about 3 pm on Tuesday there was one table other me . The floors were dirty look like hadn't been mopped in a couple of days. The waitress took my order and when she delivered my sandwich my tea was empty never filled it . Next time I saw her was when was bringing food to the other table. I have eaten from the Italian pie for many, many years and it is normally a great choice. However, this past weekend? Not so much. As you can see by my picture, the lettuce was extremely wilted, almost non existent, as was the "sauce or spread" that it comes with. The .99 cent red onion add on were hardly there and soft like the lettuce. The only thing NOT soft was the hard bread it was on. When we walked in, we saw they were advertising their meatball appetizer. We ordered that and some honey sriracha wings to start. The wings were a good size and flavorful. The meatballs... I'm picky about meatballs... they were perfect. The sauce they were in was full of flavor and the meatballs tasted like they were simmering in a pot of love all day. We ordered 2 small pizzas, which were spot on. I also had the soup and salad- the Mediterranean salad was as advertised and very fresh. The crab corn bisque was warm and delicious. I only gave them a 4 star review because their pasta could use some work and they often neglect to add new items to the physical menus. For example; they currently have a cauliflower and regular thin crust option for their pizza that are not reflected on the menu. I've tried "The Pie" in Baton Rouge and it was solid. My experience here was similar. Good, family style restaurant with lots of menu selections to suit a variety of palates. Service was excellent even while the kitchen was slow but - it happens. Not the end of the world. I had the house Chianti and - true to form - you don't get what you don't pay for. It wasn't terrible and it wasn't amazing. Somewhere above the middle. I had the "all meat" pie which was nicely done and lifted my spirits measurably. Holy cow. In Slidell from Northwest Arkansas visiting family. Decided on pizza for dinner. Had never tried OIP before, so decided to give it a try. Picked it up, and the smell had my mouth watering all the way back to my sister's. Got a fully-loaded large original pizza and a large plain cheese pizza. Both were perfect: cooked just right, generous toppings, more cheese than most places would give you if you ordered extra. The crust is crispy outside and soft inside, and delicious. Maybe the best pizza crust I've ever had. The toppings and cheese are delicious. MAN. Couldn't stop eating. Both pizzas were just perfect. My finicky son never eats more than two pieces; he ate four! This is now TWICE. I let it slide last time, but not again. I order delivery from this place quite often. It's usually always good food, and I always order the same. Chicken Parmesan. But I asked for light marinara and instead of that I get it surrounding my chicken like an island. Ok, I guess that's fine? I stomached it last time it was ordered wrong. I try to take a bite, it's a bit runny cause all the marinara is at the top so my mouth is full of that instead! Overall, it feels more like a soup instead. The food tasted good but that is where the positive review ends. I ordered online to pick up. Ordered two spaghetti & meatball dinners + paid for extra meatballs. I also ordered a full size salad + paid extra for garlic bread. Since I ordered online, I paid online using my credit card. I was told the spaghetti + meatball came with 2 meatballs and since I paid for extra, I was expecting at least 3 meatballs per order not 2 for the entire order. Silly me, I checked that each item was in the bag but didn't open the spaghetti bowls to check that they had meatballs in them. Called as soon as I get home to ask about it but the girl who answered the phone comes back to tell me the manager is to busy to handle it --- Not my problem but paying for food that is missing is my problem and now the managers. I demand the manager who then proceeds to tell me she doesn't know how to refund a CC and to call back during the week. Here's a suggestion, offer CASH if you cannot provide the food or a CC reimbursement. I don't live that close so I was hoping to get the $11 worth of food missing refunded to my CC but NOPE! We stopped in for dinner while in Slidell. We started with bourbon molasses wings, which were sticky, messy and absolutely delicious! I'd highly recommend those. We ordered two pizzas, one for us, and one for the boys. The pizzas were muffaletta and a meat lovers. The crust wasn't as crispy as I prefer, but the pizzas were good. For dessert, the boys got cookies and the hubs and I ordered some spumante. We love spumante and theirs did not disappoint. The services was good and the prices were average. This place is by far one of my favorite pizza places. They have soups, salads, pastas etc. they have take out & are on the delivery express program. Check out the lunch menu, you can get a soup and a salad, with a pizza or calzone or pasta! They have a ton of lunch options and aren't bad for the price. The portions are huge so you can always share! Food comes out fast, fresh and hot! Service is good here as well. They also have a private party room you can book for meetings, birthdays or celebrations! They will cater to your party needs. Small party or big one! I had heard good things about this place. Unfortunately, I did not experience those things. I had chicken Alfredo. The chicken was sliced sandwich meat. And it was cold. As was the overcooked fettuccine and Alfredo sauce. The Alfredo sauce was watered down. I had cheese bread which was basically pizza crust with some cheese. It was the best part of the meal. Maybe they can cook pizzas. If that is true, then they need to take the other items off the menu because I'm feeling nauseated from the thought of that nasty chicken Alfredo. This is a fun local chain here in Louisiana. The Slidell Italian Pie is almost always packed during dinner time. This is one of the restaurants on our rotation when we go out to eat. It's always consistently good and the service is decent. The majority of the servers are local high school kids and you can't put down hard working kids. XD Their calzones are literally the best. It seems like every time we go there everyone at the table gets a different type of calzone. They're huge and filled with gooey cheese! Always cooked to perfection so you won't ever get a burnt one. I've also lately been a huge fan of their spinach lasagna. That's also covered in melting cheese and cooked to perfection. Oh! That's the funniest thing about this restaurant is the naming of the bread. They have breadsticks and then they have garlic bread which has cheese on it. To me it never made much sense because the breadsticks seemed like they had a tinge of garlic on them as well though without the cheese. You'd think they would call the garlic bread something else like cheesy bread. I think that's a more appropriate name but I always get confused so I always tell them I want the bread with the cheese on it. It's basically a running gag with my friends.
