This place fills up fast. Be prepared to wait before getting seated. We were here for breakfast and it did not disappoint. Food came out quickly and staff was always checking on us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would say this is good for groups as well as individuals (they have counter seating).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would go again. Parking is weird because it's either next to the restaurant or spread out (we parked further out). Watch out for potholes the further out you park.

Mels is very well-known throughout the East Bay, and this was our first time at the San Leandro location. So adorable and fun for our large group while in the area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have ample seating and truly still have the old-school diner feels with counter seating, the coin-driven table jukebox, and the cutest little kiddo meal container I've seen yet..a classic, car-themed container.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a few kiddos that picked their favorite color ahead of time for their personal car container (see pic, adorable), and the adult orders were a variety of: burgers, a tuna melt, and a Cobb salad. The menu is extremely large and truly has a little something for everyone and every age. The kiddo menu also comes with coloring games and crayons. And, beer/wine is available to order. All-star picks: the Oreo cookie milkshake and curly fries..that's where my nostalgia goes! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service is quick, pricing is fair, and ambiance is lively with photos of late actors/actresses, old photos of the location, and pop culture adorning the walls.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Love the vibe. The standout burger was the Big Bopper with cheese, bacon, onion rings, BBQ sauce, lettuce, tomato. My tuna melt was solid, and the kiddos loved their chicken tenders, burgers, and sweet potato fries. The kiddo meal also comes with an Oreo cookie pack, ending the meal with quite a smile :)) I think you def can't go wrong with a brekky at Mel's or a good ol' burger, fries, and a crisp pop. Extra points for the car!

I had another great experience at the original Mel's Diner in San Leandro, CA! This place consistently serves delicious food, and the staff, including the waiters and waitresses, are truly amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The diner has a charming vintage feel, filled with memorabilia that takes you back in time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] During my last visit, I did notice that the edges of my sunny-side-up eggs were a bit burnt, which has happened before. However, when I mentioned it, they were quick to address my concern and took care of it without hesitation. It's reassuring to know that they value customer feedback and are happy to accommodate. If there were a ten-star rating, Mel's would deserve every single one! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Despite the minor issue, the wonderful service and nostalgic atmosphere keep me coming back for more.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend this gem!

After a long 6 Hour drive what you're looking for is a classic Diner meal and that's what you get at the original Mel's Great fried shrimp, chicken tenders delicious shakes and a BLTA. Coffee was amazing too. Jessica our waitress was great and very accommodating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the classic Diner look, booths great pictures on the wall and a jukebox at your table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're in San Leandro, you've got a visit this one.

We stopped by here without checking yelp as we are early for a medical appt. We have one hour left and I was surprised for the fast service. Their chicken fried steak was really good. They have the best waffle too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I really love the ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Its Mediocre Mon again! I met my Sis at Mels for lunch on a Sun bc it was centrally located for both of us. They offer all day big breakfasts, burgers and salads. I had the chorizo & eggs w/ tortillas and fruit. Unfortunately, the chorizo & eggs didn't have much flavor. The canned salsa didn't help. My sister said her Belgian waffles w/ a side of bacon were OK. Regarding the ambiance, there are a lot of options for tables, depending how large your party is. Its very casual here. The service was adequate: Nothing special like the food. I'd prolly go elsewhere when I meet my Sis again. The food and service are OK at Mels, but I'd like to try something unique next time.

    Lots going on here!

As diners go, this is a good one. Always clean inside, friendly wait staff and a cozy, retro feel. Mel's pays homage to the 50's and 60's with the decor and juke box table set. Food is good enough for us to make this a regular spot for us. With great service comes hot food, right off the grill. No wait time. All the right condiments and we're all set. He it comes now!

We still needed to pick up my youngest son before grabbing some food, but we all had one thing on our minds: breakfast. We originally planned to go somewhere else, but they were closed, so we started looking up other breakfast spots in the area. The photos from previous reviews helped us make our decision, and that's how we ended up at Ronaker's Coffee Shop. As soon as we walked in, it had that classic mom-and-pop diner feel where you're treated like family and fed like family. The atmosphere was welcoming, comfortable, and exactly the kind of place you want to settle into for a good breakfast. I didn't manage to get pictures of everything we ordered, but my boys and I all agreed on one thing: the French toast is the star of the show. It was absolutely delicious and easily our favorite item. We left full, happy, and pleasantly surprised by how reasonable the bill was. That's always a win these days! We'll definitely be adding this place to our regular breakfast rotation and look forward to coming back.

My partner ordered the French toast special with bacon, eggs, and toast, while I ordered the veggie scramble with hash browns and toast. While my partner did not like the French toast, because it was too eggy and not fluffy, I really enjoyed the veggie scramble. There were so many fresh veggies in the scramble that went well together such as avocado, olives, onions, bell peppers, etc. It was very delicious with the cheese and fresh salsa. A staffer said that their fresh salsa was the best, and we agreed -- it had a lot of flavor and went well with the eggs. My hash browns were also perfectly crispy, which was nice. The ambiance of this place is definitely more of a cafe vibe, and they get really busy so we don't get a whole ton of attention from staff. But overall, I would go back just for the veggie scramble. It's a perfect high-protein dish, and very delicious!

The menu is big and caters to an American diner type of taste; eggs, sandwiches, burgers and similar fare. The service was prompt and friendly, and the food came out at a reasonable time. They're quick to accommodate dietary needs and preferences as well. The food itself was only alright. I ordered one of their specials, the Petrale Sole, and it was under seasoned and a bit too oily for my tastes. It also comes with your choice of soup or salad, along with a separate dinner side (rice, spaghetti, some form of potato, etc.) as well. All of these were also just okay. The pricing is reflective of the plethora of sides, which I personally dislike, as I would prefer lower pricing with no sides if given the option. Overall, this does feel like classic American diner fare, which has never really been my cuisine of choice. It's not bad, by any means, but it doesn't stand out to me.

The wait to order wasn't too long, maybe 15 minutes? While you wait, you pass by a display of cookies and they even have samples out for everyone to try. The staff was very nice, even though they were super busy! We tried: - Free chips & salsa: These are a must everytime I visit denica's. They are a great snack while you wait for your meal. 9/10 - The ube pancakes: These were pretty solid. I didn't think that the pancakes themselves had a very strong ube flavor, if any. I think all of the flavor was in the ube coconut sauce that they come with. However, there is only sauce on the first layer so you might want to get extra! It is an additional $2.75 or so to get the extra side of ube sauce, though. The pancakes themselves could have been a little more moist and fluffy, as they were a bit dry and dense. I loved the fruit and sauce, so that definitely made up for it! I'm glad that I got to try, but I don't think I'd get them again. Instead, I would get a regular pancake and a side of the ube coconut cream! 8/10 - The chorizo burrito: My bf said that this was also a pretty good option. He thought that it could have been a bit more flavorful, but was still satisfied with his meal! 7.5/10 - The side of hash browns: These were good, as to be expected! The portion was a bit small in comparison to other diners in the area. 7.5/10 Overall, I always enjoy my experiences at denica's! The vibes are always there, and they are such a convenient place to grab breakfast or brunch.

If you are a cocktail drinker during lunch, do check them out. We ordered 4 shareable items: * Savoy Donuts - 5 stars - fluffy and yummy, not greasy at all * Focaccia w/ Meyer Lemon and Garlic Confit - 4.5 stars - wonderful texture, did not taste the garlic much but the lemon was really good add. * Grilled Beef and Pork Chipolata - 4 stars - I think the star was the dressing. The meat itself was just okay. * Rice Vermicelli Bowl - 4.5 stars - not sure why it is called a bowl when it was served more in a plate.
