There's also a whimsical chandelier made out of small cast iron skillets. Cute, I've never seen a chandelier like that before. I had a breakfast plate with pancakes that were just right. Not too sweet, not dry. The bacon was especially good, and everything else on the plate hit the mark. Coffee was decent. My husband went with the eggs benedict and was happy with it. We both left full and satisfied. The dining area isn't spotless. You can tell it could use a deeper clean in some corners. That said, our table was clean, and the food and service made up for it. I really like the OPH Gig Harbor. It touch's all the menu greats....and the bacon might be the best I've ever had. The sausage is really good too. Your doctor will tell you at a minimum, you should share the portions! Servers are really good too. And the bathrooms are clean, thanks for that. Pricing is generous on the high side. I don't want to waste too much time on this review. The potatoes were just barely cooked, and I was charged $3 for three tiny slivers of avocado as a side. I confirmed that was actually what was expected as a side of avocado, and the expo said it was. Our server was super busy, and we weren't ever asked how our food was, so I didn't track anyone down to say it wasn't great. I noticed on the way out that this location has an "OKAY" rating, which had I known, I wouldn't have gone here. I'm giving it 2 stars and not 1 because my husband said his meal was "fine." read more

Great quality breakfast priced just right. Delicious coconut waffles and pancakes! I ordered the waffles and my husband had the pancakes, they come with 3 or 6 stack. They both come with a golden tropical syrup that is divine. It's a light fruity saucy syrup that really adds a delicious tropical fruit flavor on top of the shredded coconut on the waffles and pancakes. Yum!! We ordered eggs on the side, but the waffles already come with your choice of meat. The staff were all very friendly, coffee came hot and frequently. Went for breakfast recently and had a horrible experience. Started waiting 20 mins for a table. After being seated no one ever came around to even give me water. I had to get up and go back to the front desk and request a waiter to take my order. To make a long story short, I didn't receive the Ham steak I ordered and ended up paying $22 for eggs, potatoes and toast. I will NEVER GO BACK! read more

The gluten free pancakes were surprisingly fluffy and good. The crepes were delicious as well. We also loved that it has freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee flavoring, and alternative milk choices (such as oat milk). Since this was a chain restaurant, it seems to have strict rules for add-ons. We wanted to add on one more crepe to an order (they come in 3) and were told no. Stopped for lunch on New Year's Eve. The restaurant was the busiest I've seen it since opening a few years ago. Waited quite awhile for a hostess to show up at the counter to greet us....could see that the hostess was also bussing tables, so that explained the delay. Once seated at a table we noticed that the 2 servers who were working looked young and inexperienced. The manager was very nice and came over and took our order. Quite a long wait for the food to arrive, and when it did come it came in stages. Two of four entrees were delivered, but were missing bacon. When the last two entrees arrived several minutes later we informed the server that we were missing the bacon. She said "okay" and then we never saw her again. Toward the end of the meal, still no bacon and the kids wanted it. Caught the manager who delivered an order of bacon to the table quickly. This spot has pretty good food, and there are days when it's not as busy so the service is better, but overall it is a restaurant that is not reaching it's full potential due to inexperienced staff. The manager should send all staff to the Puyallup location for training in order to learn how to efficiently perform their duties. read more

The Apple pancake was great. More apples than batter which I'm a fan of. Not super great with food allergies. Husband said he couldn't have gluten or dairy they still put cheese in the omelette and cooked it with butter. The staff is subpar as stated in other reviews. It is rare to get refills of drinks. The orange juice is about three drinks and almost $5. They can not cook sunny side up eggs to save their lives. The yolk are always over cooked. The whites are even more so the whites are suppose to be barely cooked and yolks runny. The scrambled eggs had no flavor. They always mess up on my food with no apologies. The older man today was in too much of a hurry to slow down and pay attention to our order. He messed it up and never even apologized for it. Last Saturday we were served our food and no one ever checked back to get us refills. Bad service only good food is the pancakes. I have had way better. read more

Each time I enjoy breakfast at the Original Pancake House, I'm nore impressed. I've been kooked on their Cherry Kaifa Crapes for over a decade but they were unavailable every time I stopped after moving to the Gig Harbor area. The good news is they're back but now I've discovered their early morning Happy Hour meal with pancakes, bacon, eggs, and a drink for under $10. What a deal and now I know they have the best pancackes Ive had since I was a kid. My mother, a gourmet cook, used to enoy making them for me so I know great pancakes. Original Pancake House has them I was just too hooked on the crepes to try anything else. That was stupid but I did try their Apple Pancake recently due to their excellent rewards program. It takes a little time to cook, over a half hour, but it's worth the wait. I grew up on gigharbor and have fond memories of this place being the harvester. I really wanted to give a higher rating but I couldn't. Besides the building being old and full of mold (I'm super sensitive to mold) I was hoping the food would redeem itself. But it didn't. I do like that they have gluten free options but the service was slow and the food just wasn't good. I was also expecting cheaper pricing, but for what it is it is pricey. To top it off the pancakes were divine- like true buttermilk pancakes without all the preservatives you get from -cough- the chain breakfast joints. Well even though the restaurant was clean and so were the restrooms, the ladies restroom smelled like a port a potty on the third day of a fair. No idea why. Hope this is fixed soon. Really wanted to love this place as we used to eat here frequently when it was the Harvester. The Eggs Benedict was impossible to chew, hockey puck. The pancakes tasted like chemicals, maybe bleach, unsure but I could not eat them, very bizarre. Upon sharing our experience with the manager (after we had already paid for our meal) she was rude and it was obvious she could care less about the safety of the food. Her fake smile and condescending disposition were hard to ignore. How this manager ever obtained a position in customer service, I will never know. She should not be in a job interacting with people. Sadly, we will not return. I don't think the food is safe. I read of other people getting sick here. They served my daughter rotten milk and she got sick all over their restaurant. She was perfectly fine before we ate there and she was perfectly fine after she vomited, and we left. I used to love OPH, but nowadays between the prices and the less than mediocre quality, I am no longer a fan. I love eggs benedict and although OPH poaches their eggs nicely, serving thin sandwich ham instead of Canadian bacon is an abomination. I used to be able to get the classic eggs benedict which came with potatoes and pancakes for about $17, it is now over $20 and is sans potatoes. Very disappointing. read more
