Came in to eat before a movie, 30 minutes later still waiting I realize(after speaking with someone up front about the wait time) that people are adding themselves to the list before they even show up so when I get on the list, it's not just me and others waiting, it's me and 17 other parties that I didn't realize were "waiting." I asked the manager or the lady Caroline about that and she just shrugged her shoulders and said oh well. Horrible Customer service, she absolutely should not be running the place. There needs to be a different solution to people showing up who don't know. Also, they had half the restaurant shut down. If you don't know their system, which I didn't, you're screwed according to Caroline and sucks to be you. Don't recommend. You might never get in and get a chance to taste their food.

Shout out to Zack our Server. The service was Excellent, plenty of refills and checking on our table constantly. The food had nice big portions but flavor was ok. Not sure if I would go out of my way to visit again.

Everything about this place was phenomenal! We put our name on the wait-list and drove over from our hotel. We were greeted and seated right away with a packed house. Our server was attentive and made sure we had refills and a box togo when needed. We ordered the chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon and bananas, plus the meat and eggs breakfast with potatoes and regular pancakes. The bacon was one of the best things, super thick and full of flavor, plus the quantity was super filling! We will absolutely be back and can't wait to try more things!

I was so excited to have my apple pancake, but it fell so short of my expectations. I had never been to the Tacoma location but it was the closest for what we were doing that day. Our service was not the greatest. I noticed our server spent so much time with every other table but ours. My apple pancake barely had any cinnamon flavor and the apples were just plain. It lacked so much flavor and was dry. This is not how it should've been. My friend for the strawberry crepes and they were pretty good, I think there was too much syrup on them and that needs to be minimized because the crepes get soggy. My mom got the egg and potatoes with the pumpkin waffle. She loved the pumpkin waffle. I wouldn't recommend this location. I think the staff is bad and don't really care about their customers.

I haven't visited this location on 6th ave in Tacoma before but I will again. My friend had never visited the Original Pancake House before and she was an immediate fan. She ordered the Apple Pancake and I ordered my favorite cherry Kaifa crepes. I usually eat at the Gig Harbor location since I live on the other side of the pond, but I have to say this location's Apple Pancake was better but I like the cherry crepes in Gig Harbor better. The staff was welcoming and accommodating even with my walker in very limited space. It was very busy but they took great care of us. It was a wonderful experience. The next time I'm in the area during early morning Happy Hour, Im stopping by for some of my favorite pancakes and their spectacular bacon. I'm looking forward to it.

Corn beef hash Benedict with potato's. Greasy sauce was a gravy not a hollandaise infusion. Coulda been great.

Nice parking, kind service warm setting. Decently priced. Food was potentially good will explain in pictures.

Did you know you can buy these cool souvenir mugs that they serve their coffee in?

I was craving a Dutch Baby Pancake and I got exactly what I wanted even with the high prices of eggs and shortage problem. This is my go-to anytime I go to an Original Pancake House-- my first time at this Tacoma location. If you don't know, asides from adding the butter, lemons, and powdered sugar it comes with, I still like to also add some maple syrup on top, lol. I also get a side order of extra crispy bacon and, if you're a coffee lover, do not skip their diner coffee which is just coffee but it helps make the meal ;-)

First time coming here after reading the reviews and checking out the prices on the menu provided on Yelp. Come to find out the prices on Yelp were completely different than the menu provided at the restaurant. Each meal was listed on Yelp about $3-$4 cheaper than the prices actually were. It would be nice of the company to update the listing so people have an accurate expectation before sitting down after waiting for a table. Upon arrival, I checked in with the hostess to get placed on the wait-list. She informed us that it would be about a 20 minute wait. After waiting around 30 minutes, I went to check since our text message link to show our wait time had expired, but we weren't called and we were told they were ready for us. Not sure if you have to check on that to get seated or if they just don't call your name because the timer has been expired for at least 10 minutes or so before I checked in. As we were getting seated, our menus were tossed carelessy on the table and my party was completely dismissed. Our server came to get our drink order pretty quickly and we received our drinks. Then it took around 35 minutes until they came back after I asked for them more than once if we could place our food order. Finally after getting our food order, we of course didn't get enough plates since we mentioned we were sharing meals. During our entire meal, we got checked in on once so not really a good experience overall.

Lone slice of double bacon order. That good!

Love this Original Pancake House. Still on my favs list. We had the Lighter side eggs, potatoes and toast with a bacon side and a half order of Pecan Pancakes (yeah 3 large cakes is more than enough some days). Always the coffee! Great menu. Today was slightly off as the staff was a bit short and it was full as usual but the food was excellent as always. Recommend: Sourdough toast, any pancakes and the bacon (thick sliced full sized). Restrooms: clean Service: good MyfitnessPal: yes and I emailed the company and they sent me a pdf for nutrition- great customer service! Menu calories are accurate Tip: sign up for the points and get free sides, $$ off etc all year long and on your birthday month

We stopped by for breakfast and were seated immediately. The waitstaff were very friendly and even told us a bunch of dad jokes at the end. My husband ordered an Irish breakfast and got something else, so he let the waitstaff know. They brought him out something else, some kind of cheese omelet with hollandaise sauce - definitely not that Irish breakfast. But it was good and he ate most of it anyway, the waitstaff were busy and we didn't want to send another dish back. My friends Benedict wasn't supposed to have spinach, she asked for it to be made without. And the side of bacon my friend ordered came out after the meal. The food was okay. The waitstaff were great.

service was amazing! waffle was sooo good! pretty popular in the mornings but it goes by super fast.

This is the word breakfast place I have ever been, the French toast was terrible and flavorless the potatoes had no seasoning and tased like a burn pan and the Bacon was so hard and burnt it cut the inside of my mouth, all that totaled out to 100 dollars... WAIST OF MONEY!!! The pancakes were the only thing that wasn't burn or nasty

When a party of six your tip is automatically included which is the 18%. and I was like oh wow we had six on Tuesday and I left a $25 cash tip. And he said although waiter should've told you it's automatically taken out and the 18% was already taken care of. And I was like no I handed the waitress $25 cash and she never said 18% was taken out and I didn't pay attention to my receipt cause I had children with me but then when I looked back in my car on Saturday night from Tuesday, I realize that she double charged me. So on Tuesday she got over a $50 tip. The waitress on Tuesday she was a Hispanic lady with dark black hair. She robbed me. So please be aware you're going with the party of six or more. She knew my kids were crying and I was trying to yo leave and not distract the other guest. But on the positive note, the place is nicely decorated. And service is good. I just felt robbed, so for that fact I will never ever be coming back. If you were looking to try this place for the first time come early if you want hot fresh food. My last review was honest but a 1star- now they could have ignored it, denied it or even got rude about it- after all others have (see aspen house) But no, they reached out and asked to open up dialogue- they asked what could be done and they APOLOGIZED- ownership and accountability! The communication was on point and the definitely made good on everything! So we set out to give it another go- and seriously- I may have a new place to hang out! As a non drinker your average joint has water juice or soda- not here The selection of non alcoholic beers and the DELICIOUS MOCKTAILS!!!! A place that doesn't get upset when you order a fancy non alcoholic drink- and you get the feel of being a part of it all not just sippin a soda! Loooved ! Personally hooked on the sweet n tangy- (Sweet & Tangy DHOS Orange, lemon & lime juice, simple, & raspberry puree ) ---delicious! My partner tried a couple non alcoholic beers he didn't even know existed- excellent variety to make everyone feel a part of the crowd!! And if you love a good drink?? They only carry high end liquor and make their drinks definitely top notch! The kind of place that values quality!!! While keeping the prices competitive and honest! Now the food- BRIE- ohhhh the Brie dishes!!! Not many places create food art- creative delicious classic combos with a unique twist! Absolutely the place to check out and try a new dish! Unique items that I'm dying to go back for!!! One definitely to try-- "Apple Brie Grilled Cheese Apple chutney with caramelized onions, granny smith apple slices, brie & cheddar cheese, melted between parmesan crusted 3 Hearts Bread" yummmmmmm The best part though- the people- friendly outgoing crew that you can tell genuinely care about each other and also care about making sure that the people stopping by have a wonderful experience!!! I went to this restaurant in Tacoma over the weekend. I had actually passed by many times…read morebefore--the eye-catching signage and overall atmosphere always drew me in. Finally got a chance to try it at noon today, and it was a great experience! Environment: The overall vibe is very American. There were TVs on the walls constantly playing various ball games, like today's playoff game between the Thunder and the Lakers. It was pretty busy on the weekend, especially the outdoor seating area, which was almost full. The building is an old structure dating back to the 1900s. Though it shows its age, it's very clean both inside and out--you can tell the owner really cares. Service: Our waitress was very, very friendly and professional. She gave us great recommendations, always served with a smile, checked in on us during the meal, and refilled our water. Very satisfied! Taste: Pizza: There's a funny little story: supposedly, Marco Polo went to China and saw pies, but didn't know how to wrap the filling inside, so he just put it on top--and thus the pizza was born. Personally, I think this is a myth, or many people have started fantasizing about Marco Polo because they think he was too great. But according to various unearthed historical records in China, Marco Polo never actually went to China. In fact, around 2010, more than 20 scholars organized an event called "Retracing Marco Polo's Route." After completing the journey and comparing it to what Marco Polo himself recorded, most of them concluded that he probably never made it to China. Sorry, I have a strong urge to share--went off on a long tangent about Marco Polo. But the pizza was really delicious. It should be truly fire‑baked, not oven‑baked. The sauce was well‑balanced, and the toppings were generous and fresh. My wife and I ate more than half of it! Salad: The dressing and cheese were very generously applied, and the greens were fresh. Chicken wings: They had a pleasant sweet‑savory taste, just right. Unlike most American restaurants where they're too salty or too sweet, these were perfectly balanced. All the dipping sauces were good. Overall, highly recommended!

10/10 across the board! Walked in alone around 615 or so…read more The hostess directed me towards the bar for quick seating. I was promptly greeted by the bartender with still water and a menu. I ordered their classic old fashioned cocktail and it was served right away. The drink was a perfect balance of sweetness, possibly the best old fashioned I've ever had. With help from the bartender I decided on the surf and turf for my meal. I was told that the steak would take a while because the kitchen was a little backed up. Not a problem. I did wait for a while but it was well worth it. The steak was absolutely beautiful. There was a nice crust under a buttery chive sauce. The lobster tail on top was perfectly cooked and not rubbery at all. It was served with lobster dumplings that were delightful. It was possibly the best steak I've had in Tacoma recently. I'll have to come back to try other delicious looking things on the menu. I ended up talking to a person who sat next to me at the bar for a while and we shared the berry crumble for dessert. It was hot, classic and fresh, served with ice cream. I don't remember exactly what the cost of everything was but it was all totally worth it. The food, the service and the company were all amazing. I loved watching the bartenders make drinks and being able to see the chefs cook is also fun. Their new building is much bigger than the last and it's beautiful. Will definitely be returning to try the lamb rigatoni!

The food was delicious especially the fancy burger. I think 6 of us ordered the fancy burger. Service was good. Ambiance was nice, however, it was a bit dark for us older ones. We had to use our phone's flashlight to see the menu. Street parking around that area is a challenge.
