Staff and service were good. Patio is a nice setting for breakfast. The pros ended there. Food was overpriced - you get charged for everything as well and they try to upswell everything. Ordered Eggs Benedict and the egg was well done, fully cooked through. Also ordered turkey sausage that came out completely burnt. Won't be going back. read more

We come here most Saturdays, my 2.5 year old who looooves the blueberry pancakes. Paul has been the best server so far, extremely attentive and fast, definitely going to ask for him from now on. The hostess was rude. They do not take reservations for large parties. After an hour wait and no update on time we left. I am told the food is okay, good seniors deals. Never actually got to eat here yet, so I do not have any positive comments other than what I have heard. read more

Hands down the best breakfast in Bloomington. Terrific food but the staff is the best. They seem to truly enjoy their work. Our favorite hosts and hostess are always smiling and treat you like family. I enjoy my Saturday morning with my granddaughter, her blueberry pancakes and our server Paul takes care of everything. I've tried Original Pancake House twice since it opened. I wasn't truly happy either time. The food is average at best. Not everyone can drink milk and juice, nor does everyone drink coffee. Having soda as an option would be tremendous, particularly not out of a can. Further, the first time I went the service was great. The waiter was friendly and really fun. The second time, the service was AWFUL. The waitress essentially forgot us - we never got refills, not never got checked on to see if we needed anything (condiments), when we asked for to go boxes, we waited and waited - she never arrived. In fact, we saw her just twice the whole time we were there - when she took our order and to bring our check (when we asked for the to-go boxes. Otherwise, we had to stop other waitresses to ask for something. read more

Just meh. Coffee was watery. I had eggs Benedict and though they were tasty - they were cold. Waitress was terrible and forgot my husbands order. He waited 10 minutes for it. Our booth was dirty and littered with crayons. Next time, we will go to Denny's. read more

My reasoning for the 2 stars is because i ordered my favorite dish- eggs benedict- and they were cooked terribly. you could tell the eggs were poached, but they were boiling for so long that the eggs were thoroughly cooked, inside and out; which is not how eggs benedict is supossed to be cooked. Would be a 5 star except the long wait and then it takes awhile to get your food, which is great, by the way, service is a little slow, waitress never checked on me until I was done, then asked if I needed a refill, which was empty midway through. Love the blueberry pancakes. My daughter says the same about the bacon pancakes. Coffee is nice and strong. The ambiance is bustling on Sunday mornings so don't plan on a conversation unless you want to speak up. Went there for the first time this week and didn't really have a good experience. Service was slow and inattentive. The potato pancakes were a disaster -- bland and lacking in any flavor. The omelette bulky and falling apart. Again, no depth of flavor. Based on this visit, this place is nothing to rave about. Mediocre at best. I came to this restaurant hoping to get some breakfast for my family and me and what we got was hands down one of the best meals I've ever had. Maria was our server she was very kind and made sure we were takin care of. She offered to refill our drinks when they were low. She was so kind to us and was always super happy to be here. We went on a Sunday morning and there was a little bit of a wait but we expected that. The place is fresh and new, nice decor and typical OPH menu. I had 2 eggs over easy with Canadian bacon and buttermilk pancakes. Everything came out fresh and hot. Waitress was cheerful, polite and efficient. The owner/manager checked in at the end of the meal, the two check in girls were polite and friendly and even the busboy had a smile. I'm not understanding some of the negative reviews. Opening day is upon us, and it looks like it was a busy one. I was told it would be a 45 minute wait, but it ended up being only about 25-30 minutes. We were seated at a booth, and our order was taken quickly. I felt like Rose in Titanic.. the silverware had never been used, it was the Pancake House of dreams. I will say though that the booth is pretty narrow! I sat beside my wife and we scooted the table away from us. I guess the layout designer must have been told that people with eating disorders are expected to frequent this place, and it was mistaken as skinny people disorders, not the kind fat Americans have. But I digress. My tiny Asian wife decided to cram her gullet full with bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, and a Dutch baby, while I explored the intricacies of the ham & cheese baked omelette, a side of bacon, and 3 buttermilk pancakes. Sidebar.. apparently everything in this joint comes with a side of pancakes.. you're gonna leave full af! Anyway, the menu does not include any sodas, but they got some cans in the back if ya ask nicely, or whisper the secret phrase "I shoehorned my butt into this tiny booth, please fetch me a carbonated beverage." Now I'm not a pancake fan by any means, it actually ranks lowest for me: 1) French toast. 2) waffles. 3) pancakes. 4) what are those, crepes? Get that the hell away from me! The pancakes here were pretty good, which is nice since "pancake" is in the name. The thick bacon was thick and cooked quite well.. firm, but able to bend and not break. My wife's bacon was a bit on the crispier side, so she kept trying to swipe mine, despite her being a crispy bacon person. The omelette was delicious and pretty large. Who the hell brings leftovers from breakfast? Well, for the first time in my life, this guy! I tried a bite of my wife's Dutch baby(which is a weird sentence to say), and it was decent, but I'm still kind of confused by it, so I'm gonna keep my guard up.
