We tried to go over to another restaurant but it was closed. So this was our second choice, The place was packed full of locals and that was a good sign. My husband ordered a sirloin steak with the salad bar. I ordered a breakfast skillet and my son ordered a kids hamburgers meal. My skillet was delicious and I enjoyed every bit of it. However, my husband was disappointed with the quality of the steak, it was more chewy than he would have like but you get what you pay for and this steak was not that much. The waitress was great and did a good job at checking on us to make sure she served us in whatever we needed. All in all, we would definitely recommend trying them out if you are in the downtown Sioux Falls area. read more

Place is nice. It's kind of run down, but it also feels like your Aunt Berdie's house. Our waitress was wonderful!!! I wish I would have remembered her name. Food came out fast. I also liked how they give you a carafe of coffee at the table instead of having to ask for refills. Why do places always give you the tiniest coffee mugs? The food was why my stars are lower. My bacon was chewy and really tasted like old grease. My bottom pancake was burnt and I wish I didn't eat that one last because I left with a bad burned cake taste in my mouth. Thankfully the waitress brought me extra peanut butter! My husband's chicken fried steak was terrible. He said he could tell it was just a frozen patty they fried. He told me the frozen ones I make at home in the oven were better. He also said his gravy was cold. Hash browns were good all around. My mom didn't love her biscuits and gravy, either. She said the biscuit was hard and the gravy was cold. They give you a HUGE glass of juice! The prices are also just wonderful. Our group of 8 adults ate for slightly over $100. With so many places to eat breakfast in Sioux Falls, we might not be back for that meal. We obviously didn't try lunch or dinner. Thanks amazing waitress!!! read more

After reading a fair amount of not so great reviews of this place we decided to give it a shot. First thing we noticed after walking in was it was less than half full which sometimes tells you something considering most breakfast joints are full or mostly full. We also noticed it had a salad bar which is a huge bonus because we love salad bars although at 9 00 Am its quite unusual to see that. I ordered the Salad bar & the Denver sandwich while my wife ordered the Short stack with 2 eggs. Everything was excellent although the Denver sandwich was a bit small but for $ 6.75 what does one expect. My wife said the Pancakes were as good as she has ever had. We enjoyed the old time feel to this diner and our server ( who has worked here for 26 years, I forgot her name ) did an excellent job of taking care of us. Next time in Sioux Falls we absolutely will come back. read more

If there was an option for no stars, that's what I'd give. We both ordered iced tea, and it tasted like water with a drop of fruit punch in it (in the red glass, couldn't see any color). The Denver sandwich was bland, and I ordered it as a wrap, but it came on toast. The gravy on the Chicken Fried Steak had no flavor, the mashed potatoes were surely powdered, and the steak itself had very little flavor. The server was kind enough not to charge us for the tea and gave us a Senior Discount that we didn't ask for, so that was nice, even though we're both seniors. We won't be back. read more

We had a great breakfast today. My wife had the Mini Breakfast which includes 2 strips of bacon, 1 egg, and 1 slice of toast. The Mini breakfast Is just perfect for someone watching their waistline or a Senior Citizen. Egg was scrambled just the way she likes them, Whole Wheat toast was done right and the bacon was light and crispy. My Western Omelet which has eggs, diced ham, green peppers, and onions as well as cheese was perfectly made. No fold over Omelet for me. This one was all blended into one Omelet. It was delicious, well made, and hot. That along with the toast and hash browns completed my delicious breakfast. Oh, forgot the coffee. That was a good strong cup of Joe. This is not a polished, new construction, glitz-and glamour restaurant. KC's Crack'd Pot is a traditional, local establishment. The facility is well-used, but also well-maintained. The service is friendly and attentive; my personal watermark for service is measured by my drinking glass, and it never got much below ¼ full before I was offered a refill. I had an early lunch with my family on a Monday. There was a steady stream of locals, which is always a good sign. We ordered a variety of food: hot ham & turkey sandwich, pancakes, pork loin sandwich, kid's spaghetti, and kid's grilled cheese. The two adult sandwiches also came with soup. The beef vegetable soup was thick, hearty, and seasoned to perfection. The cheese soup was good also. The cups of soup came out in small, metal crocks, which added nice ambiance. The ham & turkey was piping hot and contained generous portions of meat and cheese. The pork loin sandwich isn't going to win any awards, but it is a solid offering for those wanting something different. Our family came away with mixed opinions of the french fries. I was unimpressed, considering them to be average and uninspired. The others in my family raved about them. The pancakes were hot, fluffy, and tasty, according to my 15-year-old son. I have two complaints though, that cost a star in my rating. Upon arriving at our table, one of the coffee mugs was dingy to the point that I almost turned everyone around to leave. My 12-year-old's french fries contained a hair. However, even with all this, I would still recommend the restaurant. read more

Look for the nightly specials--- unlimited fried chicken thursdays, prime rib fridays, and all you can eat steak tip Saturdays. No diner can match their home cooked food. The pie and carrot cake is the best I've had with amazing soup and salad bar as well. You cannot go wrong here. The food is great and almost too cheap to believe. We should have known when the place looked like a ghost town that either the food or the service wasn't any good. Maybe they don't count on return business due to their location by the airport and convention center or they don't care.
