I recently discovered The Chicken Koop, and I am addicted! I love getting their half roasted chicken with 2 sides, and it's been on my weekly rotation. The chicken is juicy and flavorful, and it's a decent portion for the price. I also like that they have a lot of sides to choose from, and I usually go for the Brussels sprouts and jalepeno Mac and cheese. The plate also comes with a fluffy naan! You can pick 2 sauces to go with it, and my favorite sauce is the green sauce. I tried the garlic chicken plate once, but I prefer the regular roasted chicken. I haven't been in yet, so I can't speak to the service or ambiance, but the food is delicious! read more

Came to this location recently for lunch, because the Alhambra location is no longer open for lunch. This location is a little different, some of the menu & Happy Hour options vary, and it is much smaller inside, but they also have an outside patio to sit. The service was good, and quick. My daughter came for a specific sandwich that she loves, and said it was equally good at this location. I came for the chicken and waffles, I asked for tenders instead of bone-in chicken pieces, and unfortunately it was not as good as the Alhambra location. The battered coating is different and completely falling off of the tenders, the waffle was a little overcooked as well. The Alhambra location uses a panko crusted breading and it's so good and crunchy! I don't think I would return to this location. read more

The service was good, she was nice and did come check on us but she didn't tell us that she was going on break and then when we saw her we asked for something and she was like "oh I'm still on my break" smh ‍ I ordered the chicken and waffle and it was a big portion and good. I was only able to eat half . The chicken is very tasty and tender. We also ordered the chicken nachos that come with wontons as chips and they were really good. My mother ordered the sample tacos very well served & all the meats were tasty, so those are definitely some plates to try! We ordered the Tamarindo & the cucumber margaritas, and they were really good! So for all of that, I would recommend this place! 5 stars What I didn't like was that it seemed a little rundown.... Like the seats are very worn. It looks like it needs an update. There was graffiti up on the walls in the bathrooms. And they need a lil TLC and spot clean more often .... When I go to restaurants and the restrooms are not very clean --- it's a big downer for me! Also, it was a little annoying that I ordered 3 things that were on the menu & the server came back to tell me that unfortunately they didn't have it. That they didn't have it at that location. So my thing is ---why have it on your menu. That's why I ended up settling for the chicken and waffle. it was OK like I said it was good, but I really wanted it what I had first ordered. Parking is not bad. It's not too far, but it is packed..... because the parking serves for several businesses in the area. I've been here plenty of times I usually order the Hawaiian style plate, which is not on the menu, but I also have tried the Cuban and garlic plates, which are very tasty too. The restaurant is always packed and a bit nosey so I usually order it to go. Sometimes the plates are more packed than other times, It's a hit or miss. The potato and chicken taquitos are really good too. I used to get the chicken posole but it's just not the same lately. It's very bland now. But the chicken is always good and food is always tasty. This is one of my all time favorite eating spots! Whenever my work has trainings, we always try to get Chicken Koop because their food is always delicious. The 20 educators who were at the training got seconds and thirds they loved the food so much. The one thing I had never tried but did this time were the plantains- they were perfectly cooked and made my mouth water. Please try Chicken Koop out, you won't be disappointed! Great spot for some chicken! We came for a late dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the food. They have an outdoor area if you prefer that option. Service was great. My husband ordered a margarita. We ordered the tacos cooked in different flavors. We loved the dark meat chicken plate. The cucumber was refreshing. The habanero sauce was spicy and tasty. I have eaten here once and picked up lunch to go on a few occasions. This restaurant is very spacious and has plenty of inside and outside seating. Upon entry, you are immediately greeted and directed to a table or to the pick up area. Service is quick and friendly. They have lunch specials from Monday to Friday and weekly happy hour specials available Monday to Thursday. If you order take out, it's best to phone it in to avoid the online app surcharges. My go-to items have been the 1/2 roasted chicken plate with steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes. I like their habanero sauce and their green sauce. It's a great portion and I usually make 2 to 3 meals out of it. I also like the Frank's Caesar Wrap with the green sauce or Chipotle sauce. They also have other items on the menu that I want to try like their taco sampler plate, pozole, and the Cuban chicken. It's definitely a good place to stop by for a quick lunch. read more

I stumbled upon this charming eatery while searching for a cozy spot to meet my best friend for a bite to eat. I think I visited during the height of COVID, as the dining area was outdoors. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted and promptly seated at a table for two. We started with drinks--a refreshing hibiscus margarita--and though I'm not quite sure what my friend ordered (see photo), it looked delicious! We shared a couple of appetizers: hummus and cauliflower. The cauliflower is an absolute must-try, but be sure to squeeze a little on top for the perfect touch. For my entrée, I chose the garlic chicken breast, accompanied by a chimichurri-like dressing (though it was a bit oily and lacking in flavor) and a side of white rice. My friend opted for the sliders, which she found to be delightful and satisfying. If I could suggest any changes, it would be to improve the chimichurri sauce and ensure that the plates are served with knives--ours were missing. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and our server was attentive at first while taking our order, though someone else took over later without any communication. I'd have to say that this is the second location I've visited (first one in Alhambra), and the food here was better than my husband and I remembered (understandably we ordered something different, but it was good today). Love their food and it's always consistent. Service is great and never had a bad experience. It's a family favorite. We love coming here but the place needs a facelift. Seats are torn, paint chipping, napkins are used as a wedge to keep the tables from being wobbly. I used the restroom for the first time and was pretty disappointed. I felt like I was using the restroom at a gas station. There was tagging everywhere including the baby changing table; I had to go to the car to change the baby. The high chairs are no better. The paint is chipping, they looked like they've never been cleaned, & broken at the base. A few upgrades could make a big difference and would be appreciated. I'm sure others would be too. I know most restaurants are doing this now, but I despise how payments are processed right at the table. I remembered seeing this eatery featured on Tiktok and decided to try something from the their menu. I ordered the 1/2 roasted chicken meal with brussel sprouts and mac and cheese. It also came with 2 sides so I went with the garlic sauce and chimchurri. The roasted chicken was juicy and had a delicious rub/marinade. I love crispy brussel sprouts with a soft center. I've been seeing the chicken Koop all over social media for years now and was so excited to try it. Let me start off by saying that the food tastes great. The chicken is cooked really well and it's packed with flavor. They have a diverse menu with lots of variety. I got the chicken Sando and it was the perfect amount of spice! However, I feel like the portions that I see on social media are misleading. The sandwich is marketed as this huge portion when in reality it's about average sized if not smaller. As long as you come in expecting good food (not these crazy portions that we see online) you're gonna have a great time. I was really surprised by their drink menu. They have plenty of options and everything is really affordable. They have a happy hour special however we missed it. The drinks were still really cheap and well-made. If you're looking to have a few drinks before going out with your friends the chicken Koop is a good place to start off. The service here is great. All of the workers were really attentive and quick to clean up any messes. The waitress who served us was prompt and really kind. It is located in uptown Whittier so if you're planning on coming here prepare to spend some time trying to find parking. read more

Literally wait 10 minutes to place an order. I initially want to dine in but there was a line standing waiting to be seated, plenty of empty seats the poor guy at the counter was answering phones running food to the tables, packing orders. After waiting 10 minutes with no acknowledgment I decided to do take out since it seemed to be the fastest way to get service, but no luck stood in front of the register for another 10 minutes as people came in to pickup orders. I came here last week with my in-laws for their son's birthday and they seem to be pretty happy with their food selection. This restaurant literally has anything you can order when it comes to chicken. At our table everyone had something different lol. I will say that the wrap lacked a little moisture, but I added chipotle sauce and that was an improvement. The server was friendly and our food came out quickly. Went here on a Saturday night for dinner and had a pleasant experience. It was our first time dining here and we enjoyed it. There's a main dining area for guests dining there and there's an outdoor seating area as well. The outdoor patio was decorated with cute string lights and hanging decor. It was cute. We sat inside and there was lots of cute art and big screens playing sports games. The staff got us seated right away and took our orders. The food came out promptly and was delicious! I ordered the chicken wrap with an extra side of the garlic spread and my boyfriend got the teriyaki chicken plate with an extra side of chicken (because gains!) and jalapeños. We devoured our dishes lol. We just wish they had bigger plates or actual bowls bc they currently serve the food on the low shallow plates and everything spills over the edges. We both tried their chicken sandwich with fries and an alcoholic drinks (I got Mango my girlfriend got Mojito). Everything was amazing, (be careful on their sweet and spicy heat level; we weren't ready for that heat but it was delicious).
