I stopped in to grab a couple donuts to take with me to a meeting I had nearby. I've been meaning to give this spot a try for a long time because I've heard good things about this family owned spot. They didn't disappoint! They had a nice, clean, little store with a wide array of donuts to choose from. It was hard to make a decision! Once I finished agonizing over what I wanted to take to my meeting I got a cinnamon roll, chocolate glazed, regular glazed, and raspberry jelly filled assortment. I was treated with patience and kindness by the folks working the counter and I was in and out very quickly despite my indecision. Highly recommend this place for flavorful fluffy donuts. I will be back!

The local family owned BEST donut shop! I've tried many donut shops, this is so far the best. The quality and flavor of the donuts, I can't find it anywhere else. They are not greasy or overly sweet, it's just right. They know how to make donuts. Owner is very nice and friendly. I appreciate them for making these delicious donuts! Nina

Aww rainbow donuts, always a fav. Today we stopped by store going to kids workshop at Home Depot. Always good service and good donuts. Just quiet little donut shop putting some of the best donuts. Today we got a cinnamon donut, maple bacon, chocolate long john, chocolate with M&Ms, and some donut holes.

Light decadent and fluffy donuts. That how I would describe the donuts at The Original Rainbow Donut shop. Truly the best donut shop in town. I'm sure I've write a few reviews on other donut shop is town. But I think this one takes the cake quite literally. I've always had an addiction to donuts. But these simply the best and there are lots unique variations, and spins on the doughnut at Rainbow Donuts. This is family owned business and it's clear that they take pride in their work. The shops very clean and well maintained. The service is excellent and straight forward. No obnoxious tip hunting here... you just buy your donuts and you're on your way. Great place!!! I'll be back again!!

Sun was rising in the east. Fresh scent of donuts greeted me as I entered Original Rainbow Donut. Place has that old school donut shop feel. I found out they have been in operation for 16 years. I notice lots of classic donuts. Prices were also from the old days. Glazed donut was fluffy and sweet. Great tasting classic donut. Apple fritter tasted mostly of sugar. One of the sweetest donuts I've ever tried. Glad I picked the small one. I prefer my apple fritter with 80% less sugar and more apple bits. There were a few pieces of apple but I couldn't taste them through the sugar. Next time I'll have to try a cake donut.

All of their donuts are cooked in 100% soybean oil, which is not a good thing. Try using canola or olive oil to make it healthier. If your allergic to soy or have an intolerance, then avoid this standard Asian donut shop. Also there is an angry kid working there, who never smiles.

In our day's Sunnyslope business, our niece took us to Kris Frybread. Arriving we saw Dawn's. She said Dawn's gets high ratings too. After our excellent Kris meal I made my way to Dawn's. I am infamous in the family for my dessert rxtravagance. But I share with all at our table. Take your choice! Our niece got cannoli, I got lidded shortbread custard cups, vanilla and almond. Sweet D got a cherry and an apple turnover delivered into the box. It is five days later. My sugar intake has dropped a lot. In our home baking we cut sugar ingredients by half. Older Hopi bakers put in enough sugar for a hint of sweet in their cookies. Modern bakers glaze them. I'll take those traditional ones. When I say the shortbread cup with custard was too sweet for me, that's my 21st century palate speaking. The almond cup was a buy-again item for me, still sweet, very almond. The cherry turnover was flaky, the filling tart, oozing fillng and cherries. The gold medal, blue ribbon "I'd buy this again, for sure is the apple turnover. We will return for some more flaky, apple-y goodness. The webpage makes mymouth water. I see many items are normal and mini sized. Great idea Dawn.

We've worked our way through what feels like almost the entire dessert case over the years, and I can honestly say I've yet to find something I didn't love. Every pastry is beautifully crafted, incredibly fresh, and tastes like it was made with so much care. This visit was all about the cannoli, and let me just say... craving officially satisfied! The shell had that perfect crisp snap, while the filling was silky, rich, and just the right amount of sweet. It was everything I had been dreaming about and then some. Walking into The Sicilian Baker always feels like stepping into a little slice of Italy. Between the gorgeous display of desserts and the irresistible aroma of fresh pastries, it's nearly impossible to leave with just one treat (don't say I didn't warn you! ). Whether you're stopping in for a post-dinner dessert, celebrating something special, or simply giving in to a sweet tooth like I did, this place is absolutely worth the visit. Every dessert we've tried has been phenomenal, and this cannoli was another delicious reminder of why we keep coming back. Sweet craving? Check. Happiness? Double check.

Have a meal at The Sicilian Butcher and then follow that up with dessert at The Sicilian Baker. There are several locations in town, with this one being in North Phoenix. On my most recent visit, I stopped by on a Thursday. Parking tends to be busy in their complimentary lot, but you'll find a spot. Ambiance (4/5): The Sicilian Baker is connected to The Sicilian Butcher. It's a small bakery, with only a few seats. More of a grab-and-go type of spot or the source of your dessert if you're dining at the restaurant. While small, the decor and ambiance is nice. Service (3/5): A little bit of bad luck, but on my most recent visit, they were having trouble with their refrigeration so no gelato was available. While interacting with the staff, it was an average experience. I will say that the service was much better in the restaurant. Drinks (N/A): I only got dessert, but they do have coffee and a few other beverages available. Food (4/5): The Sicilian Baker is known for its cannolis, tiramisu, gelato, and lobster claws (dessert, not real lobster haha). On my most recent visit, I had a cannoli. They have your classic cannoli but also a nice variety of other fillings including pistachio, Reese's, and more. A+ for creativity, though I decided to stick with the classic. Solid. In fact, all of the desserts I've had here over the years have been quite good.
