    Chef salad
    Jill H.

All this girl wanted was a chef salad. Do you know how hard it is to find a chef salad in the south hills?? That's what landed me at The Other Place. We pulled up and placed our order and waited in the car--no place to have a seat and wait here--so ordering ahead would have been better. (But we had been engaged in the married "what do you want to eat?" discussion in the ride home in the car, so our planning was not awesome.) The wait was short (shorter than estimated) and the guys inside were friendly. Husband's hoagie was good, but skimpier than my very meaty/cheesy chef salad. Salad was A+, loaded with "stuff" and the dressing was fresh and nice and cold. (Seemed like a T. Marzetti type bleu cheese.) Salad was huge and definitely big enough for two meals, and it was a mix of fresh, crispy greens (not just iceberg), with no surprise rotten pieces under the unhealthier parts of the salad. If I'm having another salad craving, this would be a good place to return.

This place is great!! The other place has no sit down dining but rather carry out or delivery. We had ordered pizza from them for our church's VBS. Not only was the delivery on time but they came in foldable insulated bags with oven style racks inside to keep the pizza nice and hot. You definitely don't want to serve cold pizza to a bunch of kids. They had given us so much that there was enough left over for the volunteers. The pizza was the traditional cheese but came in a box of 12 slices. I had one and boy oh boy this was the best pizza I had in a long time!! It was still piping hot from being in the insulated bags. Since we had extra I brought some home to my husband and he truly enjoyed it. This place is great for not only large groups but for catering to individual needs. Complete with appetizers, calzones, hoagies, lasagna, salad, desserts and more there is something for everyone on your list. I plan to utilize their services again in the near future. The Other place is located on Swallow Hill Road across the intersection leading to the Original Pancake house. Do yourself a favor and try it sometime!

Good spot if you're looking for something quick & delicious. No inside seating. Pickup & delivery only. I would recommend 10/10. The Hoagie's are seriously huge, I also really liked the dressing. Everything was very good.

I just got the Muffaletta sandwich. It was huge def worth the $11 the ham cuts are nice and thick too. Not heavily cheesed Do wish there was more olive spread. Even liked the Cesar dressing added it was subtle not drenched. Definitely coming back to try something else. Enjoyed this very much.

Love the Margarita pizza! Such magic in the simplicity. We have order the sandwiches, wings, hoagies and artichokes as well. All were good.

My husband tried some of my dish and immediately agreed. I didn't say anything to the staff at the time because I didn't want to cause a scene, and I wasn't sure whether this was somehow normal since I had never had linguini carbonara. After getting home, I looked into whether carbonara is supposed to have such a strong, foul smell and was shocked to learn that it definitely should not. Apparently, certain aged cheeses can develop high levels of butyric acid, an acid associated with the rancid, manure-like odor I experienced. Whatever the cause, the dish was completely inedible to me. Unfortunately, I will not be returning. My husband had the creamed corn pasta that was a special, it was as if someone cooked some noodles and then dumped half a can of cream corn on top. We were very disappointed as this dish was highly recommended by our waitress.

Rita's was their version of Penne Vodka and it was so good too! Great balance of cream, vodka, and sauce. I ordered veal parm special and it was so good (huge portion)! We arrived at 5:30 and were quoted a 45-minute wait (possibly less). We stood outside for over an hour. During that time, we watched multiple parties who arrived after us get seated ahead of us--including a two-top seated immediately after we were told we were "next." When we questioned it, staff were defensive and claimed some guests "live nearby," put their names in earlier, and leave to wait for a text. That was never explained on the phone or upon arrival. From what we directly observed, the seating process did not appear first-come, first-served. It appeared selective. Transparency matters, and so does basic courtesy when guests ask legitimate questions. Ten minutes after we finally left--after waiting over an hour--we were told our table was ready. By then, the issue was no longer the wait, but the clear lack of organization and professionalism. We will not be returning.

We were seated upstairs, where our waitress took excellent care of us throughout the evening. She was prompt, friendly, and incredibly helpful when answering our questions and making recommendations. After ordering our drinks, which were deliciously crafted, we were served two rolls accompanied by their homemade olive oil dip. I wish I had asked what ingredients were in the dip because it was absolutely phenomenal! For our appetizer, we chose the House Made Meatballs in their Sunday Sauce. The sauce was unlike any other, but had the perfect balance of tangy, salty, and sweet. For dinner, we ordered the Shrimp and Lobster Florentine, Carbonara, and Smoked Gouda Pierogies. Every dish came out quickly, the perfect temperature, and packed with flavor. We truly had nothing negative to say about our experience at DeBlaze at 131. We were hoping to try one, or more, of their homemade desserts, but unfortunately, we were too full. Thankfully, that's just one more reason to come back and enjoy another incredible meal!

I saw display cases that contained cupcakes, scones, rolls, cheesecakes, brownies, blondies, etcetera. I purchased four baked goods: one cinnamon roll, two cookies, and one muffin. After I paid several dollars for my four baked goods, I noticed several slips on the wall. The employee said that the slips were prepaid and that customers could use the slips to receive free foods. How nice! I appreciate whoever paid for those slips. I ate my four baked goods at home. The snickerdoodle cookie (5 stars) was one of my favorite snickerdoodles that I have ever eaten in my life. The cinnamon roll (4.5 stars) was a large size and had a sweet maple flavor that I liked. The banana-caramel muffin (4.5 stars) was nicely sweet and was topped with a banana chip. The oatmeal-raisin cookie (4.5 stars) was medium-sized and had the right ratio of ingredients. Overall, Sugar Butter Bakery's selection of baked goods was not large, especially in the late afternoon when I went, but their quality was high.
