Yes, it's a splurge--but worth every penny for the details alone. We loved strolling the nature trails, spotting deer, and relaxing in the woods cabin stocked with water, tea, bug wipes, and even a s'mores kit (plus a real bathroom few steps away!) Kayaking was peaceful, and our massages melted the stress away--though I do wish they had included fingers! The Whisper Lounge was a dream: dim lights, cozy silence, and snacks that let you fully unwind. Coffee/tea/water everywhere. Meals were fresh, organic, and delicious--especially the salads straight from their farm. The three included meals per day made dining a highlight (just don't recommend the pork bao - dry side) We took chakra yoga, tai chi, self defense and even a sketch/painting class--everything was thoughtfully led and enriching. Loved all of our instructors! Only feedback: separate the activity desk from the spa desk, as the spa reps seemed stressed. Also be sure to check the bill to ensure you are not charged an extra meal. As soon as you get to the edge of the property, you are navigating a maze of tiny signs in Woodloch handwriting, trying to figure out where to turn to sign in. I made a couple of wrong turns. Once I got there, I had to figure out where the door was. Signing in was actually quite painless, mainly because other family members had signed in moments before, but I didn't get a map so I was lost the rest of the time, depending on others to navigate around (and we definitely had questions). Event timing. I missed out on a couple of events because things we wanted to do were double-booked. Then we had off time when nothing was booked. Why not spread things out throughout the day? Events themselves. We thought bowling would be fun. It was a hollow ball so that anyone any age could roll it. The bad bowlers did better than the good ones. That's what made me miss trivia, though perhaps that would have also been no fun. Okay: A nice house we got, though the living room had a bunch of wasps outside the window so I was definitely not happy there. Clear your nests. Also at least one of our cards went bad, but I wasn't staying more than a day so I didn't have to worry about that. Beers. A couple of locals, just poor selection overall. Good: Pools. Multiple. All ages, all temperatures. Too crowded outslde? Go inside. Three different hot tubs. Kiddie splash area inside, which added to my family's enjoyment when I accidentally discovered it while wandering inside to use the restroom. (Part of that being lost problem. Lack of signs for anything.) Food. Though it went on my family's tab, they will feed you whatever you want for whichever meals you sign up for. My family will enjoy breakfasts and dinners to their hearts' content. Very high quality meals. You are assigned a table and a server, for whatever that's worth to you - definitely one less way to get lost! But if you don't like your server... I'm willing to bet they would work something out. Guest service was not a problem. Overall: I am being a little generous in stars because resorts are not my thing. But this place is in desperate need of an upgrade in signing everything. The lovely Eleanor does such a great job at greeting everyone and taking them to their table. It really feels like you're part of the family going up to Lukan's every year. The staff is so welcoming and genuinely seem happy to be serving you. Their team is on it! Always coming out with more food, drinks and anything you need, all while serving multiple tables that are usually parties of 5 or more. All the waitstaff seems to get along too, trying to enjoy their time together. This year, our server Jillian was a treat! She was so on her game, helping my family and keeping our plates full. The Farm itself is so lovely, tons of outdoor games like Ping Pong and Basketball. If you venture deeper into the property you can have some fun with all the animals like sheep, goats, chickens and even a Peacock. He's an absolute sucker…read morefor targeted ads, and I must congratulate Farmhouse Catskills on their marketing prowess; however, the marketing strategy gives you a pretty good idea of what you can expect. This place is definitely instagrammable... but unfortunately not much more than that (at least for now). Pros: They've done a seriously beautiful job on the decor- lots of grays and moody dark blues, mid-century furnishings, and prolific use of some of the best artificial tropical plants I've ever seen. All of it is as pretty in person as it is in those Instagram ads. When you walk in, there's ambient music that matches the vibe perfectly. We didn't take a dip in the pool because it was kind of chilly, but I thought it was neat that there was a poolside DJ. It's also worth mentioning that this place is clearly very dog friendly, and as a dog-lover-but-not-owner I was happy to be able to pet so many pups on the property. And there's a decent pool table, yay! Cons: It's pretty clear that this place was sort of hastily opened in an attempt to pull in some cash before the end of the summer, without being adequately prepared and staffed. (It kind of reminded me of one of those house-flipping shows on HGTV.) In our room, one of the ceiling lights still had blue painter's tape around it. The door (which opened to the outdoors) stuck badly, and the knob was not really appropriate for the purpose- more of a closet or bathroom doorknob than something secure for a hotel room- no deadbolt, etc. We had the same troubles with the hot water that another reviewer mentioned. We had to wait almost an hour to get a cocktail at the bar because it was understaffed. I imagine there were just one or two bartenders serving the bar, restaurant, and pool areas. (For the record, the cocktails were nice, though, as was the bartender.) At one point a man who seemed to be more or less in charge of things (but somewhat overwhelmed) was quite rude to us and another couple we were socializing with in the bar area. The morning we were to check out, a housekeeping person opened the door to the room at around 8:30 AM when we were still asleep. She apologized and said, "Oh, my manager said you already checked out!" We said "No, isn't check out at noon?" She confirmed and went on her way. No big deal. But about an hour later, ANOTHER person barges into the room and says her manager told her we had already checked out. (I'm guessing that her manager was the aforementioned overwhelmed guy.) In short: This place has definite potential- again, so pretty!- but it seems the focus right now is aesthetics over experience. At a lower price point I'd probably call it four stars, but at $300/night in the middle of nowhere, I'd expect better management and service. I'd be interested to see if they work out some of the kinks next summer.

My wife is from LI and grew up coming, so here I am. The nostaglia factor is huge here, and I don't have it. So to be fair all around, I'm noting what I have experienced and grading them on the food. Place is upstate ghetto, and I mean that in a good way. There is plenty to do, however most of it is comparable to a park. There is a swimming pool, pool slide, lake, boats, playground structures, pool, basketball, video games, shuffleboard and more. Lots of outdoor activities. The great thing is being with other families with young kids, and being able to drink with the other parents while the kids go off. They also do stuff like a hayride--no hay included, just a dude speeding in a pickup truck on the country roads--a DJ night and a visit to a farm. They make the most of the area which is good. Accommodations are simple, however they have upgraded some of the rooms which has made it a lot better than it was. The food is better than it has any business being. All meals are 100% homemade, themed with 1 offering each, all you can eat, include dessert, and it is worth noting what is served on what day. The best by far is the roast beef, which is accompanied by german potatoes fried in bacon fat. They are superb, especially with some gravy and the rare roast beef. Thanksgiving is another good one, as are the homemade cold cuts. It doesn't always make sense, however have never had a 'bad' meal here. Even the baked ziti isn't bad. Always ask for the lemonade. Weirdest damn thing is they never have fries (not even at the lunch counter). Shakes at the lunch counter are superb though, as is the over buttered popcorn. I've grown to like coming here, and my son loves it. That's enough for me. Wish there was a brewery nearby or something instead of the stupid golf course, but such is life.
