Came here with my cousins from Germany today and had a great experience. We literally just had a few breakfast shots, but the staff was absolutely inviting and made us feel good. Shots were great and on point.

Decently good. Dive bar esk. We were really impressed by the scallops. They also have a decent ceasar salad heavy on the croutons. I would honestly skip the spinach and artichoke dip. It was mostly just a layer of melted cheese.

Decided to venture out to New Braunfels and try something different. Great decision. Opted for this divey place called The Oyster Bar. The name says it all. We had oysters and this place is definitely a bar. It wasn't very busy but you can tell this place can be loud. Service was on point as our server came by as soon as we sat down, got us started with drinks and offered to answer any questions we had. Mrs had a jalapeño margarita and of course I had to try their old fashioned. The margarita was great and my old fashioned was ok at best Reviews of this place don't speak well of their oysters but we enjoyed ours. They were meaty and flavorful. Pricing was very reasonable. Only knock was limited parking but we managed. Look forward to revisiting the area to check out other spots in the area as well.

Baked oysters, oysters on the half shell, fried calamari (sticks), ahi tuna, tomato basil and chorizo soup

We tried The Oyster Bar for the first time a couple of weeks ago and were very happy with everything we ordered. Since we had never been, we tried several different items: soup of the day was Tomato Basil with chorizo (I was hesitant at first but turns out it was delicious and and now I soup that I crave!), we tried the calamari appetizer - they looked like mozzarella sticks which I was also unsure of but were actually tender and had great flavor, tried oysters on the half shell and baked oysters...two thumbs up for both, and finally the ahi tuna..loved it! We sat at the bar, arrived a few minutes before shift change and both bartenders were attentive and fun to talk to. We were there midafternoon so it wasn't too busy, which we also loved. We can't wait to go back

Bloody Gonzo and a breakfast shot

The food is amazing, the service is exquisite and the ambiance is perfect. A great place to go on a date or with friends. Do yourself a favor and stop by.

When visiting the outlaws in Gruene we always partake of one breakfast at the Oyster Bar. Breakfast? Yes breakfast. I'm not talkin' eggs and hash browns I'm talkin' their famous "Breakfast Shot". No, we do not arrive at the butt crack of dawn but usually around noonish when they open. What's a breakfast shot you ask? From their menu: Equal parts chilled Jameson and Butterscotch Schnapps followed by an orange juice chaser and a bite of delicious candied bacon. Just like pancakes and syrup, amazing." I can testify that it is indeed amazing and there is a tendency to order a second helping. If this does not tickle your fancy then order their Bloody Gonzo. Per their menu this is their "famous Bloody Mary hand-built with our house recipe. Garnished with celery, pickled green beans, olives, a dill pickle, lime, and even a piece of hot bacon." I did sample the Gonzo and it is spiced perfectly and the bloody mix is on point. If you are not dining I would suggest sitting at the bar for quick, friendly, professional service. Pro tip: Weekends are crazy busy with limited street parking. But there is usually available parking behind the bar.

My husband and I have been here many times. We always enjoy the fresh oysters! Food is good. Not spectacular, but always good. We greatly enjoy the breakfast shots and other cocktails. Typically service is terrible... We are always with a sever that has attitude, and does not seem to care about anything. The ONLY reason for this 5 star rating today is because we were served by an "Ashley R." She was phenomenal! Lively, friendly, and cared for our every need. Even catered to my needs of no sugar cocktails. Very friendly, great communicator and timely for everything!

Signature drinks at the oyster bar where the oysters are amazing, tastes great, and please don't forget the bacon wrapped jalapeños .

(we live in san antonio) but... the experience this time was just ok, not fantastic. despite hubbie making reservations 3 weeks in advance, and restaurant knowing it was a celebratory occasion, we were seated at the very first table - which faces the entrance. awkward location. we pretty much ordered same meal as last time. mexican shrimp cocktail - sauce was very thick in an off putting way, but shrimp was fresh and nicely chilled. hubbie got shrimp & oysters with fries. he's not one to complain much, but he said all were a bit greasy & not as crispy as he'd like. i had shrimp, scallops & broccolini. plate came with not very well prepared broccoli - with no mention from server before or upon arrival of switch. how can broccoli be both under & over at same time? unsure, but parts were very hard and others too soft, so it went mostly uneaten. i would have asked for something else if id known they didnt have broccolini. scallops & shrimp were well prepared, but light, velvety sauce from last time was replaced with slightly "gloopy" and a bit greasy sauce, didnt look or taste very appealing. brussel sprouts were drenched in some type of mayo sauce that was not mentioned on the menu. so "crispy" brussel sprouts were soggy. SO... how much of this experience was on us? we didnt complain, we didnt send back, but we would have had to send EVERYTHING back and this was our anniversary. we are not that picky that every dish needs to be perfectly prepared to our liking. but for is to encounter a problem with every dish? maybe just a bad night. but i dont feel like we received the upscale experience we paid for. only one thing was as fantastic as we remembered - the creme brûlée!

I love the atmosphere of the restaurant, it's got a home like feel. The staff always treats you like family. It's my daughter's birthday and she wanted to float down the river. So that means a trip to Clear Springs. First up a small order of onion rings. They were so good, the crisp outer batter and thick onions. Next up my youngest had the Shrimp Po Boy. It had a nice flavor from lettuce tomatoes and tangy dressing. The shrimp were fried well. My oldest daughter had the Fish Tacos. They were bright and fresh but needed a little more zing. My son had the Combination (fish and fried crawfish)- the crawfish were tasty and had a good batter. My Seafood Grill was amazing. The shrimp brochettes were amazing, loved the grilled catfish. I'm not usually a fan of blackened catfish but this one was good. My wife had the cup of Cajun Gumbo. It wasn't bad but it was chunky and that's not my style. We ended with the Chocolate Cake for dessert since it was my oldest daughter's birthday. It was the perfect end, the pecans added a saltiness that balanced out the richness of the chocolate.

WOW! bright green, tender, not overcooked leaves with a light cream sauce. i passed it around and everyone LOVED it! another surprisingly yummy bite was the chicken tenders! they got passed around too, moist, tender and very tasty. salads that passed by looked delicious and fresh! not your usual leafy dishes. we did have to ask for drink refills although there werent many tables. bills arrived & onion rings had been divided amongst us - appreciate they can do that, but friend had asked for them to be added to her bill. i was also charged $2 for my spinach. server again said it was his fault (not noting sub) and offered to remove it. but apparently there was an upcharge, which is fine, but note on menu or have server inform. but since all are listed as fries with no separate pricing - it looks like they are interchangeable. it wasnt a bad meal but at $45 plus tip, i left feeling like i had a fried basket experience at a premium price. i told myself i'd pay $20 for the spinach so...
