The outdoor area is large and spacious, and the overall atmosphere is very family-friendly. It has a relaxed vibe that feels just right for families with young children. One small observation: I do wish some parents paid a little more attention to their kids. It had recently rained, and a boy was throwing rocks into a puddle, causing water and mud to splash onto my husband's back. We politely asked him to stop, but he continued, and we couldn't spot a parent nearby. As for the food, it was served quickly, arrived hot, and tasted great. No complaints there. We had plans to get dinner elsewhere. The food was pretty good and fried to the right amount...but our order took over 30 minutes to make. We had to visit the gals at the truck a few times to ask them if our order was done, or if we were forgotten. The sweet gal taking the orders also said that they would bring it out when it was ready, but we waited a solid 30 minutes and decided to ask. I think they just forgot our order of chips and queso and fried pickles. Besides that, the experience was great. Their chips are great (I love the thicker tortilla chips!) and have a more solid crunch to them. The queso is on the lighter and thinner consistency side, which is always a refreshing texture. They definitely use a lighter cheese instead of a dark cheddar, as shown through the color of the queso. It's got a great flavor to it too without having any extra add-ins. A nice traditional queso! And yet, I keep coming back and eating more burgers - that's how good they are. The Big Juicy is a classic and you can dress it up however you wish. I love how my tator tots and fried okra are always served piping hot, like they just came out of the fryer and they haven't been sitting under a heat lamp in the back of the kitchen. And they are always so crispy - I assume they change the fryer oil frequently or they must clean it really well. I have a bone to pick with their chicken fried steak. In the land of great CFS, they shouldn't serve one that had been in the freezer a few moments earlier. In this part of the country, it's hand-breaded or nothing. Having said that, it's not bad, just not as good as it could or should be. Their club sandwich reminds me of one my grandmother used to make for me when I was a kid - perfectly toasted bread and no scrimping on the meat and cheese. Longhorn Café is more or less high quality fast food, but don't expect super quick service. Sometimes it can take 10 minutes for your order to come out. But then again, most of the time it's worth the wait.
