If you are a Dr. Who fan, you'll love the vibe of The Pandorica and all things on the menu in relation to the show. Food was average and overpriced. We went here for lunch, ordered some menu items to share, drank some good tea, and had more of an awe towards the decor of the place. An episode of Dr. Who was playing on the TV. You can't help but stare at a lot of the cool things arranged all around from the main area to the hallway towards the bathroom. Our server was friendly and attentive. Parking is along a busy main street, and you'd check for parking signs. If you park nearby, The Pandorica is within walking distance too. All payment is accepted. Authentic British food (derogatory). Just like mum used to make (derogatory). Yeah, the food sucks. It's not actively bad, like nothing is burned or anything, but it is bland and underwhelming and textureless. And overpriced. Super overpriced. But you're not here for the food, you're here for the environment, and sure enough Doctor Who fans will find plenty to coo over, from a TARDIS-munching T-Rex installed over the entryway to the toilet (whose door is also TARDIS-themed) to what look like reconstructions of props and some cute portraits and knitted figures of various Doctors. The space is large and airy, which maybe limits the atmosphere a bit - feels like it should be smaller and winding, with hidden corners, but I guess I can't blame them for not moving to an entirely different building! However, it seems like a great venue for watchalongs and group meet-ups. The staff are all friendly, and you'll likely encounter a bunch of fellow nerds to swap stories and such with (but who else is going to come here?). I believe they also organise events with cast members who are in the area, so keep an eye out for that. So yeah, if you're passing by, have the money and want a bit of novelty (and don't really care about food), then this will suffice. And if there are nerd events going on, it's probably great. But if you just want to eat, there are so many better places to get food in Beacon. read more

We had a lovely dinner at Pandorica on the 13 June. The Doctor Who theme and memorabilia is fantastic. We are huge Doctor Who fans and were very impressed. The menu is lovely and the names of the dishes nods to the theme. The lady who served us was fantastic . She managed to serve and make all the diners happy as well as managed 2 birthday parties. We loved the tea cozy and teapot cover holder. We would have loved to meet Shirley the owner. Very curious how the weeping angel made it across the Atlantic. Finally the bathroom must be visited. The ambiance is curiously intriguing if you happen to be unfamiliar with Dr.Who. It is just *to die for* if you are a Dr. Who fan!!! There are lots of delightfully familiar props and wonderful scenes abound everywhere you look (be sure to check out the hallway to the bathrooms). But you didn't come here just to gawk at the spot-on Whovian ambiance, did you? No, you came to eat. The food is tasty and the service is sweet and prompt (check the menu at the website). The Victorian Teas are perfection and so friendly. Special holidays are a ton of fun, DO go with a friend! The prices seem reasonable to both of us and every TIME we've been we've enjoyed ourselves so much! The Pandorica is on the main drag in delightfully busy and fun Beacon, so don't expect to park right at the front door. Drive past and park a little way down the road, no biggie. Yes, I'm a Dr Who fan, but you don't have to be a fan to love the Pandorica. I come to this restaurant as often as possible since I'm travelling from Pennsylvania. I often love to meet other friends here as a "half-way" stop when heading to New York to see family and friends. The ambiance is fun and different that any place you've been before. Shirley the owner and her team love to dote on their customers to ensure they are comfortable and happy with their order. I have been to the Pandorica for Dr. Who events with meet and greets and fun itineraries. I've also been to the Pandorica for their 2nd Sunday Afternoon English tea's which are awesome. All homemade. I am looking forward to my visit at the next Tea April 13th. The food is great, and reasonably priced. The village of Beacon NY is lovely to walk around and shop. Always a fun time. read more

Gosh, I really hate to write this, but I thought The Pandorica was lacking. I went in bubbling with anticipation. I have wanted to go to this British/Dr. Who themed restaurant for a long time. The decor was indeed interesting and I liked how they played episodes of Dr. Who on the tele. Unfortunately, the service was slow and a bit confused. The staff was friendly but they seemed disorganized, and again, quite slow moving. On the upside, the tea was magnificent. If you want to have wonderful teas, served in a pretty kettle, then I would highly recommend this restaurant. However, they might think about switching to a simpler menu of tea sandwiches? I found the food to be lacking all around. The fish and chips and the cottage pie--two staples of British cuisine--should have been expertly prepared in a restaurant like this. Instead, the fish was doughy and the portions were small. Moreover, the chips were thin, American-style fries. Pandorica did serve this meal with malt vinegar, which is a must. Thumb's up for the vinegar option. Unfortunately, the cottage pie was also very average. The brown gravy flavored with thyme and rosemary was okay but the potatoes and meat seemed to be prepared separately with the potatoes placed on top of the meat with an ice cream scooper. I would encourage them to find a proper, traditional pie recipe online. (Gordon Ramsey's mother's recipe is one I'd recommend.) We also got the pierogies as an appetizer. These were likely frozen. They tasted and looked similar to Mrs. T's frozen pierogies (common in supermarket freezer sections). I think a restaurant should serve handmade pierogies or skip them altogether. Then again, why is a British themed restaurant serving pierogies in the first place? Also, it's a shame that a British themed restaurant did not offer ANY British beer. Not even cans of Irish Guinness. (?) I wish them well, but I can't recommend this restaurant except for a spot of tea and an episode of Dr. Who. read more

The good..... the food was lovely, 5 of us ordered a couple apps and an entree for everyone. The vegan options are what initially drew us to depart from the highway and stop in for a meal. 1 vegan, 2 vegetarians and 2 omnivores... there was something to make everyone happy. The server was friendly and attentive and responded to each of our requests. The not so great... the prices are a little outrageous. So much so that what may have been a 4 star review I couldn't go higher than 3. Not when combined with the awkwardness of being interrupted whilst deep in conversation to be encouraged to talk about the theme of the restaurant.... or asked numerous times how we were doing while still waiting for food to hit the table. The bad... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have someone check your hood/ventilation system. Or maybe you purposely have it turned off... upon entering I noticed immediately that the entire restaurant smelled of fryer fumes and there was a moderate haze in the air. By the middle of our time there my throat and eyes were starting to feel irritated and scratchy. It's dangerous for your patrons and staff to breathe those fumes. This was our first trip to Beacon, and we began strolling up Main Street well after lunch time. We passed a few restaurants that seemed busy and so we continued up the hill. Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted the word "Pandorica" on a faded sign. I knew the connotation, but I didn't realize what a treat we were in for. Now, as a sci-fi loving family, we are well versed in modern Doctor Who. Therefore, we expected the props, the themed menu, and the general nerd vibe. The decor and theme are amazing. But we truly had a low bar set for the food. We were so pleasantly surprised. We started with tea. I had #12, which was a nice Jasmine blend that I enjoyed. Better yet was #11, which had a custardy taste that was delightful. Both teas came in teapots, each with a cozy. The teacups and saucers were straight out of a Victorian detective's study. Since we were there after lunch, we went with some smaller dishes. The Potato Pancakes were nicely fried, crispy and tender, and served with applesauce. The Bangers and Mash were perfect - sausages tender, the gravy was not too salty, and the peas were cooked just right. But oh - the crowning jewel for us was the Fish Fingers and Custard. I had wanted to try this since 'The Eleventh Hour' in 2010. It was disorienting and delicious, and we savored each one. All in all, it was a truly wonderful experience and meal. Walking along Main during my first visit to Beacon, I noticed the signage for The Pandorica and instantly thought "oh like from Doctor Who lol nice." Decided to stop in for lunch and it was very pleasant. Waitress was very knowledgeable on Doctor Who lore and we talked about episodes, the latest season, etc and then I chose "The End of Time" to be played on the tv in the restaurant. I was really impressed with the care of the decor, there's so many references that a true fan would appreciate. ARRIVAL: My partner and I went for lunch a little after 12pm on a Friday, just after they opened. They're apparently only open Friday-Sunday so we tried to make a reservation, but got the machine. It didn't matter though because we were the only ones in the restaurant when we arrived. FOOD: All the food was good! We had the fish sticks and custard as an app, the beef shepherds pie and Mac and cheese as our entrees, and the bread pudding with honey pear tea for dessert. The shepherds pie was my favorite because the flavors were great, it looked beautiful, and I loved how the potatoes were cooked (mashed, but then scooped into little balls and baked with cheese on top so they were slightly crispy on the outside). I would also recommend the fish sticks with custard and bread pudding. The fish sticks with custard wasn't life-changing, but is definitely worth trying because of how surprisingly well the combination works and how unique it is. The bread pudding was just classic: fresh, delicious, and not too sweet. The Mac and cheese was above average, but nothing remarkable. MENU: What I liked about the menu overall was that they had a lot of items that are not very common. Most dishes were basic British pub standards, some were British standards but with small twists on them, and some were even more unique. Most also had some kind of DW reference in the title, which was delightful. SERVICE: The service was overall very good! The only issue was that our server seemed a little overwhelmed once a couple other tables were seated. I suspect they were understaffed because she seemed to be the only one seating customers, taking orders, running food, and clearing/cleaning tables. Nothing went wrong and she was very helpful with all of our questions. Everything just took longer than expected once we weren't the only table. AMBIENCE/ATMOSPHERE: All the decor was lovely and, of course, Doctor Who themed. The small hall to the bathroom was especially pretty because it had colorful lighting and the door is painted like the TARDIS. They even played episodes of DW on the large tv behind the counter. They had some pretty shirts and sweaters with the restaurant's name. I bought 2 royal blue T-shirts that had the Van Gogh sunflowers coming out of a TARDIS. It was a great experience overall! The only thing great about this place is the atmosphere. Very fun ode to Dr. Who. Lots of thought has been put into the decor, menu, and ambiance. I wish the food was just as impressive. The fried chicken wrap was delicious, but the cheese was just cold shredded cheese. My friend got the fish and chips. She got sick shortly after, vomiting all night. The store owner was overwhelmed, grates she is short-staffed. However, she was kind of rude. We scanned the QR code, but we couldn't see half the menu. We looked up the menu on another site and she was irritated with us that we ordered things that were no longer on the message. She said she knew about the menu not loading, but doesn't know how to fix it. She also only had one QR code to share amongst multiple tables. We waited an hour for our food. Others came in after us and got their food before us. Owner told us she had limited fryers. Doesn't logically make sense that our food came out after everyone else's. One of the specials was a sangria. It was strong, which I don't have a complaint about, but it was not sangria. It was fruit nectar and alcohol. Very disappointed in this place and don't plan to be back unless my brother, who is a huge Dr Who fan, wants to return for the ambiance. read more

Just had my second visit to The Pandorica - against my better judgment because the first visit last year wasn't great, but the concept is so unique that I figured I ought to give it another go. I am a big Doctor Who fan, after all. Sadly, I would avoid visiting again in the future for these reasons: - The service is poor. They are chronically understaffed and the main waitress has a (somewhat understandable, but very visible) chip on her shoulder about this. You will wait unbelievably long for whatever you order, no matter how large or small, regardless of how many people are in the restaurant or what day/time it is. They do not seem to understand or plan for how busy Beacon gets on weekends. This was a repeat experience from our first visit. - The ventilation system is either faulty or non-existent. There is a visible haze in the entire restaurant from everything being cooked and fried in the kitchen. We were in the place for about 40 minutes and our clothes and hair stank of cooking grease for the rest of the day. Again, a repeat experience from our first visit. - The menu is clever but way too ambitious for the restaurant's capabilities and limitations. I appreciate that they are trying to offer a range of Doctor Who-themed dishes and beverages, but you need staff to execute this well. I will say that the food itself is tasty, they have a terrific range of loose-leaf teas served in porcelain teapots with handmade cozies, and they offer gluten-free buns for sandwiches - I gave 3 stars solely for these reasons. I understand they used to be a tea shop in a prior life - they should probably go back to this (although both times it took 15-20 minutes for our tea to arrive, and it was very over-steeped and bitter by that point.) The decor is fun for any Doctor Who fan, but unless you're stopping by just to take pictures, I would recommend giving it a pass unless they can figure out the above issues...and as a Doctor Who fan, I truly hope they do. read more

If you love Doctor Who then it might be worth checking out but the food is something you could pick up at a deli. The salads looked like something an amateur can whip up in the kitchen - just putting ingredients together. I will say that the portions are quite large. This little cafe needs some yelp love because it's a hardworking gig for a retirement aged group of proprietors who love Dr Who and their British Tea times. Ok, nerds -- if you are a lover of Dr. Who, you will be very entertained by the decor and ambience. I've never seen an episode, but I did think the little evil snow person on our table was adorable. Food-wise, I'd say everything was fine. No one really raved about their food, they said it was, again, fine. I had the falafel wrap and was mixed about it. The falafel itself was not great -- kind of mushy and mealy. The taste of the tzatziki and everything else on the wrap, though, was delicious -- so I eventually gave up on the falafel and just add the hummus and veggies inside. That was -- once again, with feeling -- just fine. The other people I was with had the turkey BLT and the pulled pork. The report on the turkey BLT was that it was good, but a little dry. The pulled pork sandwich didn't look like what you'd expect from pulled pork -- it looked more like sliced pork. The french fries were okay, nothing to write home about, although I appreciated the server asking whether I wanted vegetarian seasoning on them (the regular seasoning has beef tallow in it). Everyone left food on their plates, which in our case was less about being full and more about things being just -- everybody, now -- fine. Some reviewers have raved about the place, so I do think since this was my first time I'd want to go back and check it out again. read more

Stumbled upon this restaurant while researching where to eat in the Hudson Valley and we had to stop in. I'm a HUGE fan of Doctor Who and what's better than a themed restaurant. I really, really wanted to love this place but it was just ok. The decor was nice, they didn't go over the top with Doctor Who related items but it was just enough where you kept finding new things to look at. The menu also had cute items listed that also referenced Doctor Who. They also have the show playing in TV, so that was cool too. The food was where we were let down. We split the spinach dip appetizer and it was just ok. Nothing that memorable about it. For entrees, I had the turkey BLT on jalapeno cornbread. I love cornbread and I love heat and I was curious how well this would work as a bun in a sandwich. Well, it wasn't really what you would consider to be cornbread, more like Texas toast and it looked like it had jalepenos in it but I couldn't taste them. The bread was also incredibly dry which was a shame because thar impacted the whole sandwich. The fries were seasoned with a nice blend of spices and tasted good. My husband got a different turkey sandwich and he said it was just ok. Decor is good but not enough to make up for the food. read more

We arrived just after they opened and they still took forever to seat us. It took us over an hour to get out of there and it wasn't because we were savoring the food. The food was costly and the taste did not match the cost. This is definitely a place that you come by only once for the novelty, and only if you are the most diehard of Doctor Who fans, and even then you should probably skip it. We wanted to love it, but all the food was average or below. It's nice to have GF options but don't count on it if you have celiacs. Somehow three dishes and an appetizer equates to $81 of average or lower food and poor service. The waiter wasn't top notch and we even saw him motion his frustrations as he followed customers outside to seat them. Not acceptable. Oh and we don't have ranch dressing, here's blue cheese and it's a .75 up charge. And I'm not sure how you screw up spinach & artichoke dip but they managed it. I don't like giving poor reviews but I'm shocked at all the good ones. I've never been so displeased at a restaurant as I can't boast the service or food or prices. All three get a thumbs down. The Pandorica is an anachronistic throwback to horrible restaurants. Even though the waitress was new the hostess Shirley should have known better and had the other waitresses who were not doing much, help out and help clear glasses and dishes when we were done with the food that came out really late. Seemed like there was one cook. Also the waitress who wrote down our orders got them wrong or gave the wrong one to another and my sister had to wait a long time for her salmon salad. The food was ok and good, but great. The hostess had an after-thought of singing their version of happy birthday. This was NOT the place to have my 50th birthday dinner. Welcoming in the thirteenth doctor in high fashion at a doctor who themed cafe. I mean honestly why wouldn't you. The name of this place to any whovian will jump off the paper to you. And make you want to take the drive to come in. It was 4 hours for me and worth every bit of the drive down. It's in a lovely little town in the Hudson valley that is one of those places you want to check out every little shop. With the walls covered in doctor who themed art and some prop type items in a glass case. Any fan of the show would feel right at home here. They had a special brunch event for the global simulcast of the premiere of the new season so I got my reservations and headed down. Now the service seemed a bit clunky due to people showing up at all sorts of times before the TV show aired and I don't think the food was totally done being prepared at the time. But that affected everyone else and not me it seemed because I ordered the right stuff I guess. Other people weren't even getting their appetizers until I was halfway through my main course. I'm not gonna let that affect my rating because my experience was fantastic but I can understand others not feeling the same. I had a baked apple with oatmeal as a starter which was delicious. And a cider fry-cake with maple ice cream for dessert which was also awesome. But my star of the show was my entree. I'm a big fan of bangers and mash to begin with but they put a spin on it and made it into a single serve casserole that was almost like a Shepard's pie. The bangers and gravy were baked under a layer of potatoes. And I'll tell ya, Bangers and mash is one of my favorite UK dishes and this was done amazingly well and was probably right up there with the best I've had. I think it's also possible they have every tea you can think of and you get your own private kettle to enjoy it. It seems they really support their local community as well with art on the wall for sale done by various people and such and holding these events. As a Doctor Who fan, I had to try the place out. The decor that could be seen from the outside "Weeping Angel" in the window along with an "Ood" maître d' grabbed my attention straight away. All The Who pictures, painting and statues were very well done. They even had the "Crack" in the wall leading to the rest rooms. However, the fact that out of all the companion paintings on the walls, Martha and Bill were missing. This should have been my warning. We sat and were given menus. Drink orders were taken. Those came about 10 minutes later. We sat and waited for another 45 minutes. During this time, a party of 8 came in. While we were still waiting for anything to come out, they received their salads and appetizers. That was my cue to tell my family it's time to leave. The waitress, a nice enough girl said the food was coming out now and she would box it up if we liked. I agreed to this only because my grandson (3) was crying because he was so hungry. The food was okay but I would have preferred to have eaten it hot from the kitchen instead of from a to go box. Not sure if I'd ever try my luck again if I ever travel back to Beacon. read more

On the heels of watching the series 10 premiere of Doctor Who, I was positively confounded to find myself in a Whovian-themed dining establishment by pure chance. Waltzing through Beacon with my Woman, we randomly discovered this paradise thanks to the suggestion of a shopkeeper next door. Once inside, I didn't even want to plant my butt in a seat. I spent the first 15 minutes browsing the interior, jaw entirely slack, which is tastefully adorned with all things Doctor Who. I say tastefully because, well, "themed" restaurants risk tackiness. This, however, was artfully envisioned, slickly executed, and pulled together with an eye for interior design. Once my butt was planted beside Woman, we perused the menu, which is rife with items like Silurian Nest, Are You My Mummy Meatloaf, Gallifreyed Potato Pancakes, and....WHOmmus. Needless to say I was reeling. We spent the entire, prolonged duration of our visit to Pandorica having a rabid discussion with two fans who were there for their anniversary and the owners of the establishment. We got seriously downloaded on Pandorica's history, which dates back to 2001 as a tea room and only transformed into a Who-haven three years ago. Now, they screen episodes on a large projector and with the aid of a keen propmaster, loaded the joint with some spectacular decorations (see the photos). As for the food, I had some loaded BBQ fries, and it was stellar, but frankly the food was so secondary to my bewilderment I hardly noticed I ate anything. When you're excitedly shouting about John Simm's return to Doctor Who, the food is merely supplemental energy to sustain you. I'm elated that in all the moments in the history of the universe, we found ourselves stationed in 2017, in Beacon NY, in The Pandorica, just as The Doctor would have wanted. Without the gimmick, there is literally no point in going here, and you will smell like a fry vat when you leave. I visited this restaurant for the first time since their opening a few nights ago. Most of us were Doctor Who fans, that got us in the door. The decor is mostly theme related, and they've got episodes of the show playing on a flat-screen by the register which comes in handy while you're waiting 40 minutes for your meal to arrive. The menu is varied, a few themed choices, others are standard faire that've simply had keywords from a Dr Who Google search added on for flavor. Food quality is OK at best, I'm not sure if it was cold due to being underheated, or due to the excruciatingly long wait time between courses. Flip a coin. I started with the chili and "jalapeno cornbread" - the chili was actually quite good, but the bread wasn't even in the same timeline as cornbread. After a good 40 minutes the entrees came, I decided on the pulled pork sandwich topped with bowtie Mac & Cheese and collard greens. Despite it being near room temperature, it was also tasty. I skipped dessert, and will confess that my room-temperature coffee came out quite rapidly while we waited another 15-20 minutes for additional creamers,,, then another 20 for the desserts (which got rave reviews from my compatriots) to arrive. Maybe they should move the kitchen closer to the control console of the TARDIS? OK food, insanely slow service, but fantastic ambience. What I am I missing... Ah! Yes! A friend mentioned that at their previous visit (February of 2019) his entire family left stinking of cooking grease. A few minutes after getting into the car, we all began to smell the very pungent aroma of fried food (not fried Ood, I hear that tastes awful). For the sake of all timey wimey things... please get more staff, fix the ventilation, and get a new microwave because the only thing at proper temperature for the entire meal was the ice cream. What fun !!! The food was very good, choices were varied. Lots of tea and other nice things to drink. And the ambience was great for Dr Who fans and those that have never seen the show before. We had a lovely Saturday evening. read more

The ambiance is really cool here, but the food was very meh. I had the cottage pie, which was kind of bland and is also a very tiny portion, and the fries tasted like they came from a frozen bag. Staff was really nice though, and the pierogies appetizer was delicious. read more

An abysmal attempt at a Doctor Who theme. Should have stayed the Tea Room. Disclaimer: the reason for writing a scathing review is usually to prevent people from having a terrible time, but my intention with this review its to give the restaurant owner a strong nudge to rethink their design and atmospheric choices. First of all you would think anyplace worth its Doctor Who salt would have a line up of portraits of every doctor there ever has been. (What with 50 years of material...Tom Baker....hello?)Also, there should be a sonic screwdriver in the display case. The hilarious part is, right next door theres a shop called Play, which actually sells sonic screwdrivers and other Doctor Who themed items. (You'd think they could work together? ) There are a couple images of some random Doctor Who characters painted by local artists on the walls. There is a cardboard cutout of a Weeping Angel that looks like it was cut out by a third grader. The one cool design item is an amazing trippy textured pattern wallpaper that goes down one side of the shop. Also bathroom tardis was cool. Service was shoddy. Despite the fact they have plenty of servers in there, we had to patiently wait every step along the way. Had top all for the check 3 times. The menu was very small, nor much selection. Also barely any Dr Who themed meal names? but it should be noted that the food was decent. We had the sausage bowie pasta. And chicken Shepard pie was accurate, but lacking. They did have some fish sticks with custard, and the K9 pigs in a blanket. But really nothing to write home about. TV was blaring an episode (no way around that), but a HUGE pet peeve of mine, the refresh rate on the TV is set wrong, so all the content looks like a soap opera. If you're going to choose a theme to appeal to a nerd population, do some research on the subject. I guarantee you wherever owns that store doesn't give two s****s about Dr Who. Honestly didn't even get to eat here, but the "service" we received was horrendous. Stopped by at 3:30 pm on a Saturday, plenty of empty tables inside and out, the place closes at 8:30 and a waiter immediately walked up to us and said "no more people" - no explanation, no potential wait time or anything. Extremely rude and shooed us out the door! read more
