Excellent experience. Joined you for dinner on a rainy March evening and was immediately impressed by the atmosphere. We were also able to pick our seats, much appreciated. The decor is adorable--it feels like a hip, boho living room with beautiful plants and cozy hidden corners. The soft lighting and music created a wonderful ambiance that was enjoyed by the diverse mix of couples and families present. Loved that there were kids there :-) The service and food were equally excellent. Our waitress was kind and attentive, and our drinks arrived quickly. We particularly loved the broccoli cheddar fritters. My burger was delicious, especially the dipping sauce and fries, and my friend thoroughly enjoyed the steak. Thank you for a wonderful evening. I've been wanting to go here ever since it opened, and finally got around to it. It was worth the wait! I ordered the Bright Idea cocktail, and enjoyed it so much that I ordered a second. My husband had the Warm in the Sun cocktail, which was also delicious. We started with hush puppies, which were more flavorful than your standard hush puppy. They came with a tartar sauce that wasn't typical - it was delicious. We also got the Alabama white wings. The white sauce was good but not my favorite, next time I'd try smoky buffalo or buffalo. The ranch dressing was amazing and herby! I wonder if they make it in-house. On to the entrees - I got the shrimp and grits. The grits were creamy and so good. The sauce was wonderfully flavorful. I would absolutely order this again, but next time I want to try their vegan fried chicken (fried oyster mushrooms)! My husband's burnt ends were really tasty. This is a "don't miss" spot just outside of Rosendale. What a funky, beautiful spot! The cuisine is elegant southern comfort food -and it's done well! It's also a very cool cocktail lounge. There is outdoor dining on the old fashioned porch out front, ginormous, yet cozy, indoor space, and a large, spectacular -sorta hidden - outdoor garden (with fire pit) with seating areas perfect for date night or friends hang. I have nothing but the highest praises for Darlings. The food, service and atmosphere is genuinely out of this world. First off, the food is incredible. It was my friend's birthday, and we had a party of six. Everyone at the table was blown away by how amazing the food was. Absolutely zero complaints from anyone, ONLY compliments. The drinks were great too! Luckily, Darlings is also extremely helpful and friendly; they have so many vegan and gluten-free options and will work to make sure you get the accommodations you need! The decorations and vibes were also great! Lots of pretty art on the walls and atmospheric seating, lighting, and music. The outdoors section was so pretty. Definitely a great place to have a party or gathering! It is sort of upscale (but still down-to-earth) and a little pricey, but I do think it's definitely worth it for the experience. Just a wonderful place! The highlight of our already fantastic experience was definitely our server, Zack. He was the absolute nicest, most wonderful guy. Even his demeanor is so welcoming and kind, and he was so on top of everything that dinner was literally seamless. He returns any friendliness any positive energy you give off right back to you. The food was so delicious, my friends and I shared Alabama white wings as well as the cauliflower wings, everything written in the description of these items is exactly how it comes,and the Alabamas were a instant favorite of our table. I absolutely also loved the Rocket Shrimp, the pesto at the bottom of the bowl was ALL THAT AND MORE, YUM. You need them trust me! We had a lovely stop at this quirky, fun, and tasty spot. The waitstaff were very nice and our food was out quickly. We each had smash burgers -- I had the green beans and my husband the potato salad. Before that, we had the deviled eggs which had a nice vinegary / pickly taste. Everything though was fresh and good. It's a fun place with an large patio and lounge-like interior. If you're in the area, it's definitely a good spot. The lady that took my order is very nice. Answered all my questions. But I'm more impressed with the food. $20 for a sizable chicken sandwich which tastes great. Great amount of fries too. Portion sizes aren't huge but a very respectable and bigger than expected size. I have been very disappointed by other restaurants with their abysmal portion sizes. This one is good. The servers were excellent, "A" for service all around. The drinks were excellent, and they had a great selection of beers. (The Fresh and Freaky was particularly good) The food was absolutely delicious. We had the Hush Puppies to start. I had the blacked catfish with Fava bean puree. My wife had the smash burger, and my son had the fried chicken sandwich. I highly recommend all of these as they were absolutely scrumptious. Can't say enough about this place. Four of us (2 couples) went there after golf. We ate there in the past when it was the Postage Inn. We were looking forward to a new dining experience. As we went through the front door it was quite musky smelling. We were going to sit at the bar, but even though there were 6 open seats, we couldn't get four seats together because those at the small bar were spread out. So we got a table. The service was a bit slow but we were ok with it because we caught up with old times. After about 10 min the first server asked what we wanted to drink. We ordered and made it clear we wanted two separate checks, one per couple. She said ok. When she delivered our drinks we were ready to order. She said another server would take the order. We then waited for that server, again ok. That server came over and we again said we wanted two checks and then ordered. I'll only comment on my food. The food was good, but the portions were small. Shrimp and Grits for $24 had 5 small shrimp, smallest I've seen. Fried Green Tomatoes $17 with 3 slices of tomato (equivalent to 1/2 a tomato). When asking for the check it took a bit of time but she brought it and walked away immediately. It was one check despite our repeated request for it to be by couple. We again waited for her to return to request the split. We really didn't want to sit there much longer so after 10 minutes I went up by the bar where the server was and politely said, we asked for this to be separated by couples with each server, can you please deal with it. She was visually upset and when she came to the table she said was short and made it clear she was aggravated about dealing with this issue. She then had to go back and adjust. She was more pleasant on her return but nothing other than giving us the checks. read more

If i could eat here every week for the rest of my life I honestly would. My sister and I have been semi-regulars here for almost 2 years now and always stop by when we're in the area. The food is simply so damn good. I recommend the shrimp and grits with a side biscuit, yes it's just as comforting and tasty as it sounds. The cocktails are also out of this world, incredibly unique and flavorful. The staff are so friendly and I always see the same few faces working, which to me is an excellent sign of a supportive and healthy work environment. The ambiance is top tier, my favorite elements being the sofa seating and mismatched chairs, the checkered diner-style floor, and the signature disco ball. It's a large space and great for groups, but still manages to feel cozy and welcoming. Additionally, this is a great birthday celebration spot and a must try for any friends visiting. We have been here before but only for drinks Today we decided to come for dinner and cocktails. We were pleasantly surprised to find a young man playing guitar and singing. His songs were poetic and his voice is amazing We then had cold cocktails and comfort food. The burger was delish and came out hot off the grill. Fair warning though the dipping sauce is spicy but good. The burnt ends were lean and so tender. They make them on site and well worth getting them! That will definitely be my next meal. Menu somewhat limited (e.g., no fish) but I went specifically for the shrimp and grits. What *really* through me for a loop was the number of completely uncontrolled screaming children running around the dining area. These were attributable to two large family tables. They were seriously obnoxious which is the parents' fault obviously. Nonetheless they ruined what would otherwise have been a very pleasant dinner. Parents of kids like this should be tarred and feathered in the town square. Interestingly I don't recall a 'kids' menu so I wonder what they ate as most entrees were in the low $20 range. Hip place on the side of Route 32 with gastropub food. There is a lot going on with the garnishes here but the Smash Burger and fries were great altogether. I could do with less of the Brooklyn/Beacon vibe personally, but there's enough great stuff on the menu that it's worth the trip if in the area. Imagine going to New Orleans and trying to find good ny style pizza. That is what this place is like. Good try, but the flavors are just not there. Great selection of beer though. Also, the thrift store furniture is somewhat odd as much of the seating looks tired and dirty not to mention the seat that was six inches too low to sit in at our table. 1/3 of the string fries were inedible bc they were either burnt or too small to pick up and dip in sauce. I recently went to this restaurant that opened in the former site of the Postage Inn. The outside seating in the back is very nice. The service was attentive and friendly. I ordered catfish sandwich with french fries. The french fries were very good not greasy or oily. With a good crispiness done nicely inside. The catfish tasted good and was fresh. But I was disappointed by the portion size. I know it's difficult in the restaurant business these days with a lot of overhead. But for $19 I expected a bigger portion of Fish. I don't mind paying a little extra for good quality. But like I probably only got 5 ounces of fish or so. (judging from the portion size)I pick up catfish for about $10 a pound. So I could get three servings out of that purchase. I was kind of still hungry after I finished my meal. Like to give the restaurant another chance. I'm AM hesitant, based on the portion size in relation to price of my last visit There are other restaurants I can go to in the area that give better portions in relation to the price.It would be nice if they expanded their menu a little bit and added some barbecue items since I see they have some smokers out front. Maybe some nice live music on a Thursday Friday or Saturday night. read more

Darlings is incredible! We went upstate for a trip and just happened to pass by this cutie sign and decided to check it out. WOW wow wow!! The staff is so friendly and the space is fun and lively. The nachos was so flavorful and good portion. I had the fried sandwich with their oyster mushroom and it was crunchy, flavorful and I've never had pimento cheese and it was to die for!! Went here tonight with my wife, daughter(a. Vegan) and her boyfriend. They had raves about this place so we went with them tonight. The place is big and airy. There is indoor and outdoor seating. We ate inside it was a very pleasant and area dining area. Some tables actually had sofas as part of the seating. This might make sense if you're there more for cocktails but for dinner it's a little low for my tastes. We ordered the pickles as an appetizer. They were good, a combo of carrots, beets, baby tomatillos, and several other items. They were good but everything seemed to be bribed in the same pickling liquid. Tastes were all very similar except for the beets which shone through their sweetness. My wife ordered the burger which was a few degrees above room temperature. Not a good thing and also her dirty martini was not at all cold! Those are the only two complaints. The service was great. They were all helpful and friendly. I had the fried chicken which was delicious and happily not covered in a heavy batter. It was three pieces and they brought out two pieces (the leg and thigh) and informed us the breast was going to be a few more minutes to cook and that was fine. I would definitely eat here again but I think next time I will insist on a very cold martini and that the burger is hot. read more

Lovely outdoor seating (front and back patios), super pleasant inside, great service, and delicious food made with fresh ingredients. I'm vegan, so I'm used to eating whatever happens to be vegan on the menu. Not an issue at all at this place! Just another reminder that it's not hard at all to make delicious dishes that also happen to be vegan and/or offer simple substitutions that make any dish vegan. The very sugary $15 drinks are nearly devoid of alcohol. Tastes great! Not worth it. I switched to beer because a pint had more alcohol than the mixed drinks. Not an exaggeration. Weak. O and the server said the mixed drinks were batch made and that was why it was weak, which totally negates the $15 price. Make my drink by hand for $15! Ugh. The fried chicken was black and dry. ALL breasts in the bucket. 100% not worth it. The whitefish appetizer was delicious. Almost worth the price. Barely. BTW, they still don't tell you it's an up charge for bottled water vs tap... if they even remember to bring you water, which the server forgot. My wife and I hosted a private brunch for 70 people at Darlings on the patio. We booked the space over a year ago and from the get-go, Madi was super friendly and worked with us to create a buffet menu and accomodate our price point for the brunch. Leading up to the day, we spoke with Madi once more to confirm the event, menu, etc. My wife and I arrived 15 minutes late and it was so lovely to see our friends and family mingling on the sunny patio. Madi ensured we had tons of cold brew, fresh juices, and mimosas. This was such a nice touch! I personally enjoyed the fresh watermelon mimosas! Onwards to the food - WOW!!!! - Fried Chicken - Crispy, juicy, tender. Paired stunningly with their comeback sauce. - Shrimp & Grits - This may have been my favorite dish there! - French Toast Casserole - This was the star - we told Madi this needs to go on their regular menu. - Fries - Perfectly salted, and crispy. - Pimento Mac & Cheese - Creamy with a kick! They also served hasbrowns, green bean salad, salad, eggs, and bacon. All fabulous! I had a birthday party outside on the deck and it was perfect , they really took the time to make it special. I think the smash burger is one of the best burgers around the fries are delicious. I also love the steamers and the brisket tips over mashed potatoes with beans was over the top. The food has really taken flight and the place is a definite go to . Bad experience on mother's day. My husband and I went there to order food to go to celebrate mother's day. Two servers said ok and we began to look at menu. After choosing food we were notified that the kitchen said that there are no "to go" orders. So understandably I was caught off guard. I couldn't understand why that would be. The restaurant had opened at 12pm and it was 1:15. There was a handful of ppl there and no special mother's day menu aside from a postcard with 4 specials. The usual menu is only one dbl sided page so I was really confused as to the issue with cooking food (as if we were dining in) and putting said food in containers to go. A gentleman who didn't state who he was with a baby in the bar area told us that on holidays that are "so busy" *remember handful of tables with ppl* that take out is not an option. Not only does it show that the restaurant is not equipped for holidays but it also shows a level of unprofessionalism that is not flattering. I was excited to try the food and even enjoyed the ambiance until my husband and I were turned away. Hopefully the food is good because the rest is lacking. read more
