Perfect place for a mother-daughter date! We had brunch before we made our way to Dia: Beacon. Request a window seat when you reserve a table online, the views are gorgeous! We also LOVED our waiter! He was so friendly, attentive and professional! The brunch was also AMAZING! The bread basket was not what you're thinking, it has an assortment of baked goods- so delish- and jams. The hamburger was AMAZING!!! It was Smokey and perfection. Highly recommend!

TLDR; The Beacon Hotel Restaurant earns a (generous) zero stars due to the atrocious (lack of) customer service and belligerent treatment that my 16 person party received from managers Eddie Lopez and Jonathan Lombardi in person and on Facebook. We booked a bachelorette party dinner a month in advance. The restaurant told us upon arrival that we never made a reservation. We were interrogated, gaslit and spoken to in an aggressive manner. Then we were told that they would find a way to seat us a half hour after our reservation time. Shortly after this, we were told that they "didn't want our business" because we were not being polite enough (despite the fact that the error was on their end and we were blamed). The unprofessional and insulting behavior continued on this FB page in the comments of our reviews. The reviews on this page are inflated - after people from our group posted 1 star experiences, the page was flooded with 5 star reviews from personal connections of the owners. Save your money and your sanity - don't book events here. Read on for full details. --- On 11/2, I arrived at the Beacon Hotel Restaurant with a 16-person group to eat dinner for my friend's bachelorette party. We made a reservation over the phone and confirmed over a month ago, but were told that they had no such reservation on record. I spoke with Eddie Lopez (manager) who asked who I made the reservation with. I said I did not recall the name of the person I spoke with on the phone. He fired questions at me in an interrogation style. He repeatedly asked if I could provide a name. I said that I couldn't as I did not have my phone to look it up. Mr. Lopez said that the best they could do was to offer the back room in a half hour. I said okay. I walked outside to update the others. Before I could share the update, Mr. Lopez rushed out behind me and said that he "wanted to get to the bottom of this." He said if a reservation WAS made and they missed it, he "had a big problem." He said I probably called the Beacon Hotel in NYC and "don't worry, it's an easy mistake to make." I replied that I did not call them. I called the phone number listed on the Beacon Hotel's (in Beacon) website. Then, he said the phone number may have redirected to another restaurant when I called (it didn't). I turned to continue speaking to the group. Before I could get a word out, Mr. Lopez raised his voice and said I was "being nasty," that he "didn't want our business," before he stormed inside. When another person asked why, he said that I rolled my eyes at him. The egregious eye roll was referred as an "abuse of staff" in a (later deleted) FB comment. Then came the best part of the evening, when we dodged the bullet of dining here and had a lovely dinner down the street at Brother's Trattoria (amazing food and customer service) instead. Several group members wrote negative reviews recounting our experience on FB. Again, we were insulted, gaslit, made to look like liars, and treated with outright hostility. In one of several (later deleted) comments, the BH wrote "I will always deny business if business is not being conducted with some sort of class. Next time go to Applebee's". When we said we had evidence of our reservation, they demanded we post the confirmation. On FB, Jonathan Lombardi (who booked the reservation) denied that the reservation was made. He said if he'd made a large party reservation, he would have "been smart" and called again the week before. I posted a clear record of phone calls and a voicemail transcript. I called the Beacon Hotel's front desk on the morning of Oct 3. I left a message requesting a reservation. I received a voicemail from Mr. Lombardi saying that he'd be "happy to take of it" at 4:30PM. Before I could call back, Mr. Lombardi called again - this time from the Beacon front desk - at 7:35PM. We spoke for a minute - in this phone call I confirmed the reservation. Once the "evidence" was clearly laid out, the Beacon Hotel could have admitted their mistake. Instead, they doubled down. They claimed the reservation had "not been confirmed" despite overwhelming contrary evidence. The FB page was flooded with positive "reviews" from folks who are personally connected to the owners of the restaurant. This was a transparent effort to inflate the restaurant's rating - which jumped from 2.8 to 4.0 within a few hours. The BH realized it would not look good if other customers saw their demeaning and dishonest comments on these reviews. They chose to delete all comments posted by the Beacon Hotel Restaurant on our group's reviews, as well as comments made by managers Eddie Lopez and Jonathan Lombardi from their personal accounts. This also deleted several direct replies that our group made to these comments. In short, a horrible experience. Could not recommend any less.

First time here as I write this review and it is AMAZING. The service is phenomenal. So my best friend and I wanted to sit outside until it started to rain, they happily moved us to any table available inside that we preferred. The cocktails (the mojitos) are delicious and a perfect starter before the starting food which were all DELISH. Highly and happily recommend this place to everyone looking for a cool and calm environment to eat, with extra delicious food.

Friendly waitress answered our menu questions and took our order quickly. We had the bar pretzel, grilled chicken sandwich, the mushroom burger and Chocolate Chip Lava cake. Both exceeded our expectations. Chicken sandwich had two juicy, seasoned pieces of chicken with toppings. Salad was fresh and house dressing was great. The mushroom burger was juicy and flavorful. The lava cookie cake lacked the lava typically expected but was nonetheless delicious, definitely would order again. There were two seating areas and a large bar that accommodated everyone well. Noise level was good, restroom was spacious and clean. Definitely going back when I'm town!!!!

On a trip to Colorado, Kihlmire visited a shop that featured an abundance of books and records. He came up with an idea to open a similar shop that would also feature craft beer. Kihlmire initially opened The Vinyl Room by himself in Wappingers Falls. In addition to beer, records, and video games, customers could also enjoy pizza by ordering it through a special window that connected to the Wagon Wheel next door. Although the concept was well-received, the small space and constraints from the landlord limited the full potential of the business. In July 2021, it moved to a new space at 344 Main Street in Beacon. Customers could order food from Roma Nova across the street. Unfortunately, the space was still too small and the owners received numerous noise complaints from apartment tenants upstairs. In August 2023, The Vinyl Room moved down the street to 393 Main Street to their third (and hopefully forever) location. For the latest version of the business, childhood friend Kane Licari came on board as a partner. This also marks the first time that The Vinyl Room features a kitchen with their own food. The menu features burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, rice bowls, tacos, wings, and various bar bites. In addition to craft beer, the bar also serves wine, craft cocktails, and mocktails. I recently visited The Vinyl Room for lunch with my two sons while we were visiting Beacon. Any place that features craft beer, records, and classic arcade cabinets sounds like Heaven to someone like me. I really liked the whole vibe of the interior with the industrial design and all of the pop culture and music references. My sons and I grabbed a booth and looked over the menu. For food, I had the "Crunchy Chicken Bowl" (sushi rice, pickled onions, avocado, arugula, charred corn, chili garlic crunch, creamy garlic sauce), my older son had the "Grilled Cheese" (Vermont white cheddar, havarti, slow roasted onions, roasted garlic butter, sourdough), and my younger son had the "Return of The Mac" (smoked gouda Vermont cheddar cream, buttery breadcrumbs). We were all very happy with our choices! To drink, I had a draught pour of Upward Brewing's "Summer Camp" (Helles Lager). After finishing our delicious meal, I scrolled through the impressive record collection. Then we all headed downstairs to have a blast in the arcade. Before leaving, I enjoyed a pour of Equilibrium Brewery's "Tidal Balance" (Double IPA; collab w/ Sand City Brewing). We all had such a fun experience at The Vinyl Room and we hope to return in the future!

We went around 5pm, and saw the sign "Seat Yourself & Order At The Bar". Ok... So I asked a bartender for 2 menus, and found a booth. We decided quickly, and I made my way to the bar. Others were ahead of me, so I patiently waited to order: Tripple Smash Burger, Honey Buffalo Salad, Purple Rain (2), Diet Coke. I paid at the bar, served the drinks and waited for our food. The music was 80's MTV Themed {Pat Benatar, Bon Jovi, Bruuuce, Billy Idol}. Jenga, Horrible Couple and Cards Against Humanity were on the tables to pass the time. Or flip through the many records available for purchase until the food arrives. The salad was large in size and very good. Been a while since I had a burger, and this filled the void. Fries were not that hot, but we ate them anyway. Afterwards, we went downstairs and played some old school arcade games and then headed out. Upon leaving we saw someone was having a birthday party, which was nice to see. I'm sure in the summer this place gets packed. They also have a selection of draught beer (The proper way to spell it). Good choice for food, although it wasn't cheap. Bill w/tip was $100. I think having a server on staff for all hours would be a good decision for TVR to make, in order to TCB !

But when I want to have an elevated experience with a nod to fine dining, this is my go-to. I always bring friends from out of town here and everyone is impressed. The bartenders make the best martinis and Manhattans you'll find, along with a seasonal cocktail menu that features something for everyone, including mocktails. When I don't want a full dining experience but the hubs and I have a babysitter, we like to sit at the bar for martinis and oysters - SO FRESH! If you don't do oysters, anything on the appetizers list is a wonderful light bite. I don't know what kind of magic the chef uses to make the salads but they are always simple, yet stunning. For dinner, the steak is hard to pass up if you eat red meat. I usually get the single serving NY strip, which is incredible. You can't go wrong. I'm excited to try the porterhouse for 2. My mollusk loving friend raved about the mussels and the fish selection is fantastic. I'm not a big dessert person, but splitting any of the desserts is a treat. Alternatively, the digestif selection doesn't disappoint. The bartenders and bar manager, Nick, are helpful in guiding your taste buds to the right choice. Bud, the owner, whose previous establishments can be read about in some respectfully placed articles around the restaurant, is always accommodating for the busiest place in town. It's nearly impossible to get a seat on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-9, but he will be honest and create a space at one of the little side bar areas if he can. The ambiance is sexy and sophisticated with a touch of whimsy. The toilet paper holder in the restroom always makes me smile (IYKYK). Having been to this restaurant many times, you'll start to see familiar faces as there is now a strong regular crowd. The community and connections that I've found while at Lyonshare have enhanced my experience of living in Beacon. Oh, last thing - brunch is a can't miss, must do culinary event.

First, the bartender was so lovely! I don't drink so I was truly impressed with the number of non-alcoholic beverage options available. I initially ordered a non-alcoholic drink, but then I saw the Shark Attack Mocktail and asked if I could switch to that. Thankfully I caught her right before she started making the first drink! The mocktail was sooo cute and actually really tasty! (See photo I included). I loved the theme of it, especially as summertime is officially here. Now let's talk about the arcade part of this place! The machines take quarters, so use the ones you have in your pocket! No quarters? No problem! They have a machine that will give you them, however it only accepts $1 and $5 bills. No cash? Also not a problem! They have an ATM on site. They really did think of everything, here! Most of the games are old skool, such as Pac-Man, Pinball, Dance Dance Revolution, etc. They also have a claw machine, however it's rigged so don't waste your time or quarters on it (which is exactly what I did, hahah!). Pac-Man is two players and my husband and I had a lot of fun with that one! I also LOVED Dance Dance Revolution (located in the far left corner in the back, behind the bar area) and wish I had found it before I wasted most of our quarters. Most of the games take anywhere from $0.50 to $1 to play, so keep that in mind. The patio is very large and much quieter compared to inside. I loved the atmosphere with all the string lights! They also have two little seating areas that are gated (which kind of look like adult playhouses?) which I think would be an awesome spot to chill with your friends + your dog. No fear of your pup running off! Regarding food: they do have a small menu, however it's mostly snack items like mozzarella sticks, a giant pretzel, things to that nature. What's cool, though, is that they offer vegan chicken nuggets!! Not a lot of bars have these, so it's definitely worth noting. 11/10 recommend that you stop in here while visiting Beacon! We absolutely loved it and would come back in a heartbeat!

It was founded by husband and wife Johnny Coughlin and Alyssa Follansbee. Coughlin is a cinematographer by trade while Follansbee is a public school art teacher. In 2011, the couple were both living in the Wicker Park area of Chicago. When the Emporium Arcade bar opened in their neighborhood, they both fell in love with the concept of an arcade bar. They later moved to New York City and visited as many arcade bars as they could with the intent to one day open one of their own. By 2018, the couple relocated upstate to Beacon to start a family. It dawned on them that Beacon would be a great location to open a "barcade". The couple didn't just want to open a place for adults to chase the nostalgia of their childhood, but rather a place that the whole family could enjoy. After securing a location on Main Street, and after a short delay from the COVID-19 pandemic, Happy Valley Arcade Bar finally opened to the public. I recently visited Happy Valley with my two sons while we were visiting Beacon. I've loved arcade bars since the first time I visited a Barcade location in 2014. I love sipping on excellent craft beers while enjoying the classic arcade cabinets of my youth. I also appreciate it when arcade bars are family friendly, as both of my sons have also taken an interest in arcade games. We all enjoyed the interior of Happy Valley with all of the crazy colors and spaceship-themed decor on the walls. There was a decent selection of classic arcade cabinets as well as pinball machines, both of which kept my sons occupied for a while. In addition to a nice selection of craft beer on draught, the bar also offers wine, craft cocktails, non-alcoholic options, and various bar bites such as chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, and mac 'n' cheese bites. There were also plenty of seating options both inside and outside. We had already eaten lunch earlier, but I was definitely in the mood for some tasty brews while I played some games. I first enjoyed a Thin Man Brewery's "Pills Mafia" (German Pilsner) followed by an Old Glenham Brewery's "Weaver's Pale Ale" [on cask]. Both of them were flavorful and refreshing. We ended up staying for over an hour; it was nice bonding time for my sons and me. We will definitely stop in again the next time we're visiting Beacon!
