I always enjoy my visits to the Beacon Hotel . The servers are friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even better. The owner, who is also the chef ‍, creates some truly delicious dishes. Fresh oysters offer a delightful taste of the sea. A perfectly crafted drink enhances any dining experience. The strawberry lemon drop is MY FAVORITE!!!! hope it never leaves the menu. I thoroughly enjoyed their buffalo wings; the seasoning was perfect. The Caesar salad was also a highlight, incredibly refreshing and a great complement to the wings, again the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. They even showed kindness towards my two frenchie dogs, which I appreciated. I look forward to dining there again soon. TLDR; The Beacon Hotel Restaurant earns a (generous) zero stars due to the atrocious (lack of) customer service and belligerent treatment that my 16 person party received from managers Eddie Lopez and Jonathan Lombardi in person and on Facebook. We booked a bachelorette party dinner a month in advance. The restaurant told us upon arrival that we never made a reservation. We were interrogated, gaslit and spoken to in an aggressive manner. Then we were told that they would find a way to seat us a half hour after our reservation time. Shortly after this, we were told that they "didn't want our business" because we were not being polite enough (despite the fact that the error was on their end and we were blamed). The unprofessional and insulting behavior continued on this FB page in the comments of our reviews. The reviews on this page are inflated - after people from our group posted 1 star experiences, the page was flooded with 5 star reviews from personal connections of the owners. Save your money and your sanity - don't book events here. Read on for full details. --- On 11/2, I arrived at the Beacon Hotel Restaurant with a 16-person group to eat dinner for my friend's bachelorette party. We made a reservation over the phone and confirmed over a month ago, but were told that they had no such reservation on record. I spoke with Eddie Lopez (manager) who asked who I made the reservation with. I said I did not recall the name of the person I spoke with on the phone. He fired questions at me in an interrogation style. He repeatedly asked if I could provide a name. I said that I couldn't as I did not have my phone to look it up. Mr. Lopez said that the best they could do was to offer the back room in a half hour. I said okay. I walked outside to update the others. Before I could share the update, Mr. Lopez rushed out behind me and said that he "wanted to get to the bottom of this." He said if a reservation WAS made and they missed it, he "had a big problem." He said I probably called the Beacon Hotel in NYC and "don't worry, it's an easy mistake to make." I replied that I did not call them. I called the phone number listed on the Beacon Hotel's (in Beacon) website. Then, he said the phone number may have redirected to another restaurant when I called (it didn't). I turned to continue speaking to the group. Before I could get a word out, Mr. Lopez raised his voice and said I was "being nasty," that he "didn't want our business," before he stormed inside. When another person asked why, he said that I rolled my eyes at him. The egregious eye roll was referred as an "abuse of staff" in a (later deleted) FB comment. Then came the best part of the evening, when we dodged the bullet of dining here and had a lovely dinner down the street at Brother's Trattoria (amazing food and customer service) instead. Several group members wrote negative reviews recounting our experience on FB. Again, we were insulted, gaslit,made to look like liars, and treated with outright hostility. In one of several (later deleted) comments, the BH wrote "I will always deny business if business is not being conducted with some sort of class. Next time go to Applebee's". When we said we had evidence of our reservation, they demanded we post the confirmation. On FB, Jonathan Lombardi (who booked the reservation) denied that the reservation was made. He said if he'd made a large party reservation, he would have "been smart" and called again the week before. I posted a clear record of phone calls and a voicemail transcript. I called the Beacon Hotel's front desk on the morning of Oct 3. I left a message requesting a reservation. I received a voicemail from Mr. Lombardi saying that he'd be "happy to take of it" at 4:30PM. Before I could call back, Mr. Lombardi called again - this time from the Beacon front desk - at 7:35PM. We spoke for a minute - in this phone call I confirmed the reservation. Once the "evidence" was clearly laid out, the Beacon Hotel could have admitted their mistake. Instead, they doubled down. They claimed the reservation had "not been confirmed" despite overwhelming contrary evidence. The FB page was flooded with positive "reviews" from folks who are personally connected to the owners of the restaurant. This was a transparent effort to inflate the restaurant's rating - which jumped from 2.8 to 4.0 within a few hours. The BH realized it would not look good if other customers saw their demeaning and dishonest comments on these reviews. They chose to delete all comments posted by the Beacon Hotel Restaurant on our group's reviews, as well as comments made by managers Eddie Lopez and Jonathan Lombardi from their personal accounts. This also deleted several direct replies that our group made to these comments. In short, a horrible experience. Could not recommend any less. read more

So my best friend and I wanted to sit outside until it started to rain, they happily moved us to any table available inside that we preferred. Stopped here on the way back from a day-trip to Windham mountain. Maybe we were just ravenously hungry after a long day of exercise, but everything was delicious! We were seated (by the fireplace!) right away in the private-ish back room. We were served quickly and courteously. We sampled the beer menu, the featured local-scotch (delicious), and more. I got the fish and chips, which was doughy and delicious. My mom and dad both got the seafood platter, which they loved. They even asked for more bread to savor the sauce afterwards. The bad reviews sound like they come from entitled people or out right haters, which is very possible in a small city/town like beacon. So I waited and a huge party came in after me and I got nervous, thinking man they're gonna cut the line, NOPE, sure enough the hostess came right over to my party of 2 and sat us down in the back. I had no idea there was more seating and was happy they sat us in an intimate spot. During my five second wait to be seated I had spotted eggs Benedict on someone's plate and knew I needed that. But I looked at the full menu anyway. My bf and I started with coffee. Ok so let me say this, I am no coffee snob at all, but I could see the oils and taste the beans in this superb cup of coffee. I have no idea where they get their coffee from but it's really good!! Finally my bodacious brunch. My boyfriend ordered a breakfast platter that made him smile ear to ear, the bacon was cooked to perfection, the pancakes were big and fluffy and everything on his plate was delicious and enjoyed to the very last bite. Now to my epic pulled pork eggs Benedict. Guys, it's not right!!! It was incredible, amazing, spectacular! I had to close my eyes and let it sit in my mouth for a second. I opted for a lobster Mac and cheese after eye balling it at my breakfast and my friend had the Israeli Couscous salad. So now our food arrives and her salad was a mound of vegetarian goodness that was gone in 10 minutes while my ginormous bowl of cheesy lobster goodness was exactly what I needed. It was amazing, gooey, flavorful, cheesy and not over done! I was very happy! But I couldn't finish it so I took it home. We also shared a banana bread dessert that fresh, still hot and so good!!! We left full and happy. Now my Mac and cheese was taken home and reheated and I have to say, it kept very well! The flavor was still there and it remained creamy, it was the perfect late night snack for me and my boyfriend. Both times I went and the food was delicious, packed with flavor and tasted like who ever made it, loved their job! Both times I was greeted upon walking in. Both times my server was super kind, fun and friendly, to be fair both times I had the same person. But there is team work there and I saw that! Stayed here during the Beacon Barks Dog Parade. The hotel is wonderful. The staff is very nice and thoughtful. We had packages shipped to the hotel, they were waiting in the room for us. The King Room is large, modern and clean. We had a wonderful window seat. We have a small dog and they thoughtfully put us on a low floor knowing we would be making more trips up and down the stairs. The Restaurant is delicious. Hotel guests are treated to a complimentary drink at the bar and 10% off all food bills. The bar is hoping Fridays and Saturday's with great live music. Awful experience. Our reservation was lost, which was blamed on us (we have a voicemail confirmation). The issue had been sorted and we had agreed to wait for a large table to open up, no big deal. As my friend attempted to relay the plan to members of our group the manager (Eddie Lopez) followed her outside of the restaurant onto the sidewalk to continue to interrogate her about the reservation, accusing her of making it at the wrong establishment (Beacon in NYC - she did not do that). He must have realized at that moment he didn't want to deal with the misunderstanding or that he couldn't accommodate us because a civil conversation turned hostile very quickly. Eddie Lopez raised his voice and let us know he "didn't want our business anyway". It was very uncalled for and quite honestly it was unprofessional. After looking at further reviews it's clear that the biggest mistake was planning to come here in the first place. I've never seen my girlfriend wolf down oysters and clams as she did last night. She was in pure ecstasy! Pair that with the lobster Mac and cheese and coconut shrimp and you might as well have prepped us for an orgasm in our mouths! $3 a pop for oysters are a bit pricey but completely worth it. I came here after a hike and had a great time. The service was very attentive and friendly. The Harvest Salad was fresh and delicious and I was very happy with the portion. They had a good draught beer selection and my boyfriend enjoyed a hot toddy complete with a clove-studded lemon wedge. I hope to come back the next time I'm in Beacon. read more

I have written only one other review on a place and the fact that I felt such a need to write one for this place well should mean something.... I went on cupcake fest bringing my mother , grandmother and sister there mainly be they didn't have a wait for a table like every other place. The back room only had a couple tables seated. We sat down ordered a coke two waters and a sangria. My sangria comes half filled in a wine glass with no ice or fruit. My sister and mom didn't receive their water for another 10 minutes. She tells us the kitchen is backed up so the food wait will be longer than usual. I asked her like 45 mins long? And she says "oh no not that long. " we decide to give it a try anyway ( yes I guess that was my fault). One table ended up walking out because of the service, the others are sitting there asking why they haven't gotten their food after waiting 50 mins. Our calamari comes out and it's literally 85% banana peppers with batter. Maybe 5 calamari pieces total. Aioli sauce is spilt underneath and smeared it was the worst presentation of a food I've ever seen. (See picture after eating the 4 pieces of calamari) We tell her this is basically peppers and we don't want it and she tells us she can probably take half off. We waited another 40 mins and were getting up to leave and they suddenly bring the food out. We never received napkins or silverware and had to ask for that twice. Not ONCE did the waitress say sorry for anything!!!!!. Then she adds $4 a meal and looks annoyed when we give it back to her to change. I was embarrassed that I made my family sit through that. I also learned nearly the entire STAFF quit due to way the owner is mistreating them. Brought family visiting from out of town to Beacon Hotel for dinner. Have you ever thought to yourself, "I ordered a rare steak, but the chef must have known I wanted it well done because here we are," Then you are in for a delightful culinary surprise. They even through a delicious crust of quasi-edible char. It was also the first time I've ever seen my eight year old son send a burger back. I'm pretty sure they don't clean the grill because even the second burger came back with a char that tasted terrible. The short rib was fantastic and easily the best thing on the menu. Brunch here was ..not good. They had no printed brunch menu - just their regular menu and then five or so brunch specials that the server listed out verbally. Okay cool - we got a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and eggs Benedict. Eggs Benedict comes with hollandaise sauce. This eggs Benedict came with...spicy orange mayonnaise on top? It was not hollandaise. Both meals came with home fries, which were sliced up thick cut potatoes so over-salted they were not edible. We left because when we go to restaurants to eat it's because we want to put food into our bodies to the point of being satisfied. Honestly, I would have very much liked to try the food. Just had a meal at the beacon hotel and I was totally disappointed. Ordered the steak meal and received a sub par piece of beef! The vegetables and the mashed potatoes were delicious and prepared to perfection. The steak was barely an inch thick and grade c beef. The Chef should know better! We had our rehearsal dinner here and it was so awesome! The staff was fantastic, attentive, and allowed us to just have an amazing time (one of our waitresses even dedicated and sang us a song)! They were flexible with the menu and worked with our families to make a night everyone could just unwind and have fun! We had a great private area in the back, so we could move about freely and mingle with everyone! A huge shoutout to Alla, one of the managers, who helped coordinate everything! She even helped us with some hotel rooms we blocked, and made sure our guests were taken care of and feeling right at home! Well, I spent my day hiking Mt. Beacon and loved the hike, by the end I was exhausted, thirsty and hungry. I met up with my handsome man and he took me to the town of Beacon and we found this open air (huge windows were open) restaurant/bar and decided to give it a try and we were pleased with everything from start to finish. The atmosphere/decor is nice. It is casual. The food was excellent. I had the Cubano sandwich and it was delicious and tasty and flavorful. I chose sweet potato fries and they too were yummy and salted just right. My man had the chicken sandwich and he too liked his. Even the bread was yummy. Our server was especially attentive and my water glass was always full. After we strolled up and down the main street of Beacon. It is a great little town, and we especially enjoyed the waterfall. A 12-oz steak comes with two sides and a sauce. Mushroom sauce is very good, generous amount of mushrooms; collard greens are great, deep flavor, bacon, and baked sweet potato was fine. Steak itself was good, but.... It was mostly raw. For me, that happens to be okay, (otherwise I'd have sent it back obviously) but for most people I believe there's a distinction between rare and raw and it ought to be observed. Still I'd have given this place four or five stars except for one thing. What diminished an otherwise good dinner: no bread. Sorry, this is a basic of our culture.
