Pantry has several things going for it - 1.) Convenience: If you happen to be staying at the hotel you don't have to leave the building to eat here and they do deliver to your room 2.) Decor: This joint is fun with a capitol F. I always enjoy the atmosphere here. 3.) There is nothing on the evening menu that isn't great. The cobb salad is fabulous, the salmon amazing, the grilled cheese and tomato bisque will make your mouth water and the cheese plate is comparable to some of the best I've had in VT. Now the not so good... 1.) The service is inconsistent. Sometimes its amazing, other times its cringeworthy. 2.) Breakfast. Three times I've had breakfast here and been disappointed. The first time my dining companion ordered something that was really mislabeled and wound up with a dish that barely resembled it's description and was not at all what they wanted. The server never once checked on us or asked why the food sat untouched. We were just going to pay for it and call it a loss when the manager came over and asked us how things were. We told them and they took that item off of our bill. It was time for us to go so we wound up sharing my breakfast (which was lackluster) instead of them having their own meal. The second time I had breakfast there everything just tasted off. The coffee is not as good as you can get in two other spots in the hotel (the fourth floor and the little cafe that sells Starbucks) and the water is warm and likely from the tap. Though I do like that they give you a carafe. The final time I dined alone there solely out of convenience because I happened to be staying at the hotel and was starving. It was a relaxing breakfast, okay service, food wasn't bad. However I paid $4 for a grapefruit and when it came to the table it was HALF of a grapefruit. For that price you could have given me the whole thing. Will I eat here again? Yes, most likely. But probably not for breakfast. read more

Came here with my parents (out-of-towners) for Thanksgiving Brunch and was more than impressed! The spread was nothing short of outstanding- a slightly upscale take on all of your standard Thanksgiving fare, plus a few extras- and definitely something for everyone. Ambiance was lovely (except for the family whose horrendously behaved children made it difficult to enjoy the meal), the staff was attentive, friendly and helpful and the options were plentiful and well-executed. There was definitely something for everyone, and I would consider it to be very reasonably priced. The executive chef was available to answer dietary needs questions and concerns, which made it easy for my mother to navigate the menu. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a Thanksgiving meal out in the area. read more

If I could rate this a negative I would. We went out with some friends for a night out. The first sign was it was empty on a Friday night. That should have foretold the meal... A few different dishes were served. I got the steak...or should I say salted beef. It was so salty I think I put down 2 pitchers of water and a few beers. I woke up in the middle of the night feeling terrible. I turned on the lights and my fingers were swollen and looked like baby sausages. Weighed myself and I was up 4 pounds of water weight. Food is fine, but service is about the worst I have experienced. There is no management or understanding of customer service. Same slow and unresponsive service when we were only ones in there or it was packed. This place will affect my decision to stay at the hotel in future. read more

Great food....Great service and Great atmosphere!!! We walked in as we were not staying at the hotel. At first when you walk in its a typical hotel lobby but once you enter Tha Pantry restaurant you forget your in a hotel. The place was not that busy at first for breakfast but that quickly changed as more people to to dine for breakfast. What did not change was the service! though the staff was busy the attention to gave my family and i was top notch. I was impressed by everything from the restaurant manager coming by to ensure that we were happy with the food and service to the decor of the pantry. We will be returning again...we must try their lunch and dinner. read more

Let me preface this review by telling you that I have eaten at this restaurant before about 3 months ago and I almost walked out because of the service, however I reluctantly returned with a co worker who was dying to try it out The restaurant was not particularly busy and we were promptly and politely greeted by the hostess Benny Although our waiter was slightly awkward and seemed to not fully understand social cues he was very polite, we had a few questions about our meal which were answered by the waiter who brought us our food he introduced himself as Gabriel and was an unbelievably positive aspect of our dining experience, this kind of knowledgable charming and polite service will always win me over Not to mention the food was great definitely recommend the calamari with the lemon arugula Will definitely return :) read more

Average food and bad service. We used a Travelzoo coupon (Dinner for 2 for $35). With the coupon, it was an OK value; without the coupon it would have been a poor value. I got the steak and my wife got the fish. We also split the shrimp cocktail appetizer (5 shrimp for $10). All the food was average - not horrible, but nothing to brag about either. Service was somewhere between average and bad. When we arrived, there was only 1 other person in the restaurant, yet we had to flag the waiter down whenever we needed anything, such as a drink refill. He just was not attentive at all. Although soft drinks have free refills, the drink is served in a very small glass filled completely with ice. This required several refills, but unfortunately the waiter was difficult to flag down even though the restaurant was pretty empty. All in all, the restaurant might be acceptable for the traveler who does not want to leave the hotel, but otherwise I would not go out of my way to eat there, even with a coupon. read more

At the Verge hotel on rt 9, two excellent rooms, very different decor - pantry is bright country kitchen and violet is black light satin, same menu - menu has fish and meat, both cooked well and flavored. Whole hotel has a pretty neat retro theme. Both were completely empty on a winter vacation evening, not sure how long they will last but sitting in what feels like a triple sized country kitchen, with Viking appliances and pots and utensils ready to use. is definitly worth the trip, especially if it feels like it's all for you. read more

We were seated quickly by a barrage of waitstaff, and then ignored for quite a while. All of the TVs were on the weather channel, which was broadcasting all of the tornado watches in OK. Once they took our drink orders we waited at least 10 minutes to be served. Although we were one party of only about 4 in the place, dinner arrived about 40 minutes after ordering. That being said, the food was very tasty, portions were good and prices were reasonable. Doubt I'll go back unles I've really truly run out of options. read more

We had a birthday party for my mum here, & were very pleased. She loved it. The menu included some unusual dishes & the quality of the food was excellent. It has a very nice atmosphere with fun culinary items used for decoration. They brought out a large assortment of pastries with candles, in the shape of a birthday cake. What a nice touch! Heard they had a decent Sunday brunch and in an effort to make all in the family happy I made a reservation for this morning and at 11:00 for brunch. I used open table to make the reservation and made a special request for a table since one in the party is handicapped. Thought twice about that so called Friday afternoon at 3pm and couldn't get anyone to take my call. The front desk said they were very busy and the manager would call me back and I left a message that I was trying to confirm we could have a table for brunch and bring in a birthday cake. No call back. This morning we arrived to be handed a lunch menu. Breakfast is over the server informed me. I looked at the lunch menu and knew everyone except maybe my son were not going to be happy. We had coffee and left. I am pretty ripped that the manager never called me back to tell me they don't serve brunch any more. read more

We went because we had a Groupon. The food was decent. We had a puff pastry with pumpkin and pecan appetizer that was really yummy. I had the salmon which was bland. The waitress was very nice, but brought the appetizer and dessert to share but no extra plates. The capstone of the evening is that they can't figure out how to run the credit card with the groupon or some such nonsense and they want us to pay cash. We have been sitting here at least half an hour while they try to figure this out. This is ridiculous. read more

I ate here with my fiancé because we were staying at the hotel and it was convenient. I was a little worried because the place was dead (we were the only people in there), but the atmosphere was great and so was the food. A friend ended up joining us and we had steak frites, devilled eggs, burger, truffle fries, and chicken Caesar salad. All were fantastic!! Service wasn't excellent, the waitress spoke very poor English and didn't understand whiskey and ginger, and brought out just a glass of whiskey. Then she came back and asked if the whiskey was wanted on the rocks, lol. But she was pleasant and efficient. read more

Very disappointing experience. We went for brunch. I agree with the other reviews - service was so slow, and at times, it was unclear if anyone was actually working. Our waiter seemed annoyed with us. The one positive: the atmosphere/decor is really beautiful, they took so much time with the look of the place that it is so odd to me that they don't seem to care about having any business. My husband says they made a lot of effort to create a place that looks good in photos. Other things: it was silent: no music, a TV was on but mute (I hate TVs in restaurants by the way), and all you heard was clanking of dishes which made things awkward. The water tasted like "hotel water": super chlorinated. The coffee was cold and bad. I had to ask several times for basic things like silverware. My note to the manager of this place: there are not a lot of great brunch options in the Metrowest - shape this place up and you could have a really popular restaurant! read more

So bad it was almost funny. It's inside the Verve Crowne Plaza hotel, FYI, but it's not the bustling bar off the lobby - it's the oddly brightly lit square space at the far end of the lobby. I cannot understand why it was so bright in there. I mean, it was a Friday night at 7 or so; why is it lit up like a mall store in the middle of the afternoon? That was our first clue that the place was off. The next was that no one came to greet us or seat us for at least 5 minutes. Eventually a harried looking waiter glanced at us and we sat. Ignored for many minutes. Ordered a vodka martini, extra dirty, and a beer. A very clean martini arrived. I flagged down the waiter - now setting up for a large party - and explained it was supposed to be a dirty martini, which meant olive brine. He looked confused, so I just asked for some olive juice. He said sure...a few minutes later a different guy, very harried looking, came by with a glass of lemon juice. I explained that was not what I needed, and he slumped over the table, laughing sort of, in that oh my god my night is such a horror show kind of way, like I should be feeling for him...off he went, exhaustedly, in search of my olive juice. 2 minutes later a different guy comes by with it. Then 1 minute later, the first guy comes by with the large squeeze bottle labeled OLIVE BRINE from the bar. I told him I was good now, I had already gotten it, and he made a big "AGGGHHH! Are you kidding me!"kind of gesture...I squeezed some more brine into my martini just so he wouldn't kill himself. The "Confused Buffalo Wings" were pretty good, though not terribly confused; just swapped the buffalo sauce for a blue cheese sauce and th note sauce was on the side..The Scallops were really good, nicely cooked and the lardons (bacon) were perfect, the Brussels sprouts soft, the corn puree sweet. My spouse's Steak Frites were ok but the beef was not a hanger steak - more like the end of a random sirloin; much too thick and chewy. Good Frites though.
