Well, I found a new place to go for dinner for the Guy's birthday dinner and made reservations. Didn't know the place was in a hotel. I guess my research wasn't that good. They sat us down right away, so that was good. One of the waiters came around to see if we needed waters, which was nice as well. Our waitress Doreen (spelling might be wrong), came by shortly after to see if we needed drinks. We all ordered drinks and appetizers. We ordered the calamari and the deviled eggs. Both ditches came out shortly after as well, and they both were really good. For an entrées, we ordered the Ahi tuna, the pork chop, the Petrole Sole. Al drinks were very tasty (Sangria, old fashioned, rum and coke, and a wine cabaret, Entrees came out and everything looked really good. Sole I was told was really good, Great flavor and cooked perfect. Pork chop was also cooked perfect and had great flavor to it. The mash potatoes and spinach came with was also cooked great. The Ahi Tuna was cooked perfect seared great, the tomato Veggies or whatever it was underneath the tuna was cold. Don't know why they would have a cold veggies or whatever it was under the tuna. The flavor was good, it was just cold. The deserts were the apple tart, cheesecake, sorbet, and ice cream cookies. All of the desserts are really good cooked perfect and great flavor. Guarantee place has indoor seating and outdoor seating which is covered and I believe they may have either air-conditioning for a heater in the system there. Our waitress was the best, good attitude, and always interacting between us. We would have her be our waitress anytime. I was going to give it four stars due to my Ahi tuna dish I still don't understand the cold part of the dish. But overall, it was a great place. Good read more

We have been here multiple times in the past, way past. On a fluke of my suggestion we are back. We got drinks, pasta primavera with shrimp, mussels and flourless chocolate cake. Pro tip.... The high tops can be wobbly. It's not the uneven base, but the top is not screwed on tight. Fix it before you trash your partner's purse as I did . Dranks were great and food was delicious. This is the first time back here after they did a remodel. Don't totally recall the look before but the place looks great. Clientele is a mix of older Lafayette types, tourist staying at the hotel, younger peoples and of course the obligatory cougars of Lafayette and Walnut Creek ready to pounce on any single male prey, or not single!!!! Very nice, classic, romantic, tucked-away restaurant inside the Lafayette Park Hotel. We have been in a number of times over the years, and it's still charming as ever. We've never stayed at the hotel, but visit especially for this bistro when in Lafayette. If you're looking for something hipster or trendy, this ain't it. It's old school, in the right ways. Dim, classic, romantic vibe, and great service. This is a great place to stop in for a drink or dinner. A solid selection for date night. The food is classic American staples - sandwiches, salads, pasta, fish, steak, etc. Everything we've tried has been good, but the main draw of this place for me is the ambiance. They have a daily happy hour starting at 3pm - definitely take advantage of those HH prices! We have always sat at the bar or at high-tops in the bar area, but there is a nice, cozy dining room to the right of the bar, as well as a larger dining room behind the bar, and outdoor seating. You can sit inside or out, however in the covered and semi-enclosed outside patio area, you can clearly hear the freeway. You won't get to Park by accident. It's at the quite end of downtown, and it's in a hotel. Well, that means free parking and prime people watching, so we're already off to a good start. The bar was hopping, but the dining room was quieter. The ambience was nice, especially with light streaming in from the courtyard. Service was a bit slow, but friendly. The food was lovely to look at, and pretty good. I liked the deviled eggs and really loved the mussels, which were slightly spicy. The broth was so good we needed more bread. My French Onion soup had a tad bit too much cognac, but my mocktail was nicely balanced. So was dessert. The flourless chocolate cake was good, and my dinner companions both enjoyed the cranberry citrus bread pudding. The only to weird thing was the seating. The booths along the back wall are low. Steak and short ribs perfection. We drive by the yellow hotel off the 24 and finally decided to have dinner, after my friend posted her pics from Paris, I had a craving for a good steak with sauce like only the French do. Paige took great care of us and most of the dining room, moving gracefully from table to table. Hubby ordered the New York steak special in medium rare, and it was seared and the proper temperature. I ordered the short ribs which came with the most delicious purple potato puree, the flavor. Yumm! And the Chinese broccoli seasoned and crisp. They really know how to prepare a dish. We finished our dinner with the cheesecake and apple blossom dessert served with a nice scoop of gelato. Even the coffee was delicious. Lovely quick lunch with a coworker in the bistro. We sat in front of the fire and enjoyed a lovely lychee based mocktail, French onion soup and the crab melt. The soup was piping hot so the cheese was super gooey. Great service and tasty food in a very cozy room. It was pretty busy but there was no impact on the service. Mixed reviews for Park. It's a nice place, decent parking, clean, good service, reasonable prices, but the food is spotty. We've gone there multiple times for breakfast and lunch, never diner. Two weeks ago we went there for lunch. I had the Club Sandwich which was not good, just very average. Way too much mayo and very salty, low quality meat. My wife had the Meat Skewer plate, which was wonderful. So, then we went back this week and both ordered the Meat Skewer plate. This time it was not very good, just kind of tasteless and chewy. Very disappointing. I have a big problem with this because I wonder how a big restaurant in a nice hotel can have such a spotty menu and that much variation in quality from week to week on a given dish. read more

I was really hoping that we found our next regular go-to spot since the Park Bistro offers happy hour every day...but this missed the mark, by a lot. Parking is free, the outdoor space is nice, and we were quickly seated. After that, it was all down hill. We ordered off the happy hour menu - caesar, cheese plate, shishitos, sliders, and a couple of drinks (none of the specialty cocktails are on happy hour). The beers were the best thing, then the shishitos. Our cheese plate was completely INEDIBLE. You could tell that it had been sitting out for a very long time because the cheese was sweaty and some pieces were MOLDY - like the edge piece of a hard cheese after it's been in your fridge for a while that you cut off and throw away. The grapes were shriveled as well. Not sure how this is acceptable to serve. Supposedly it was made earlier for room service. All they did was take it off the bill and barely apologized - we were in a hurry since it took about 20/25 minutes for everything to even come out and could not wait for them to remake it. Idk, it was appalling and I was hoping for more restitution. Will not be recommending. read more

She escorted me to the patio to convince our party of sitting there, and I said no, we really prefer the main dining room. Then she asked if we wanted to sit at the bar dining room. I said, no, we prefer the main dining room. Finally, appeared to give in and said she would set-up seating for us in the main room. Thinking she was doing us a favor and squeezing us into a crowded dining room, the room was filled with empty tables. Feedback Park Bistro, sit your guests in the main dining room before offering the patio. That should be the last option for guests to be seated unless requested. A venture to the old world where the dining room was like an study with a fire place roaring, book shelves with leather bound books and nearby a bar with the new fangle big screen tv broadcasting sports and old men drinking. I had the squash and pumpkin seed soup and Park Melt sandwich with a small green salad. The soup was served nice and hot with a splash of balsamic vinegar, it gave a more elegant taste and presentation. My accompanying green salad instead fries provided balance to my plate. It was a fresh mixture of green lightly dressed. The star of my meal, Park Melt was served a petite sandwich, definitely not a slider, a toasted thick bread, well buttered, folded in half stuffed with crab meat and cheese. It was a nice taste. Wow - what a come-downance! The Bistro at the LPH has been one of my favorite treats for years - great food, great service, beautiful environment. I went today for lunch after not having been there for a while and the difference from what it has always been to what it was today was such a disappointment I will not be returning. Of course, just like everywhere else, prices were way up, but that was expected, What wasn't expected was lousy service, lower quality food and a server who either couldn't speak English, didn't have any idea what she was talking about or just plain didn't care. Not realizing the place had changed, I expected things to be the same as they were before, so didn't know some choices that were there before aren't available anymore (e.g., options for salad dressing), that all substitutions are an additional charge, and that things that were previously included are now an additional charge. Service was lousy; server couldn't or wouldn't answer our questions; salt and pepper grinders on table were empty (took them off of THREE tables and they were all empty); not even a dollop of ketchup came with burger and fries, and the burger, while a generous portion, wasn't anywhere near as good as it used to be. Still a nice environment. Overall disappointing enough that this will never be my choice of a day-out treat again. So sorry to lose a cherished treat. ,-( read more

OMG! We had the best time here! I needed a central location for a family gathering and Lafayette, CA fit the bill. After reading Yelp! reviews, we decided to dine at The Park Bistro & Bar so I made an 11:30am reservation for 5. None of us had been here before and all live about an hour away. Upon turning into the property via their driveway, parking was confusing and available but not immediately obvious. Unbeknownst to us this is a hotel, restaurant & bar so the first area seen is the hotel check-in drive. I made the mistake of turning left which exits the property but I was able to turn around, in tight quarters, to head the other direction which is hotel parking where I met the rest of my party. We stood in the middle of the parking lot looking for the restaurant entrance but only saw one designated as "Handicap" so lacking any other indication, entered there and found ourselves at the hotel front desk and were immediately engaged by Beth who told us everything we needed to know including some of her favorite entrees. When we entered the restaurant, we were soon lead to the dining room where we were seated in a large, half-moon booth that extended into the interior courtyard. Shortly thereafter we were greeted by our waitress Jolene who turned out to have a hilarious sense of dry humor which we all enjoyed immensely throughout our lunch. This place was great! Food, service and ambiance were top notch. Immediately greeted and welcomed by friendly staff. The bar area looks fun but was small and packed. We were seated in the middle of the room in a half booth style table and felt the space was generous, and didn't feel overly crowded. My family and I tried the crispy calamari and crab toast appetizers which was definitely on point, the toast was probably my favorite. For the entrees we got the short rib, pork chop and filet mignon. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. The steak was simple but a perfect medium rare. It's alil darker inside at the bar area but they do have a smaller outdoor area and dinning area which looked great, even with fire pits outside! The sliders on the HH menu were great, juicy, simple, but delish! The fires had a great crunch but soft inside, garlic fries could have been more garlicky rather than cheesy with the Parmesan. I have had great and mediocre meals here in May 2025 and November 2025. The service can be the same too! It just depends! Our first meal was at the bar and it can be really loud but energetic! The restaurant is more subdued and quiet. But then you have to make sure you don't get forgotten back there in a booth. In May 2025, they had a different chef and plates came out for dinner with color and presentation and taste were important. Last night not so much, however we LOVED the pineapple bread pudding! Best dessert ever and highly recommend! The macchiato was also great! My daughter enjoyed the deviled egg appetizer. They have a new chef so I'm just not sure about their food now due to our dinner last night which included caesar salad with chicken(dry, bland, had to ask for more dressing and dried cheese crackers were chewy and stale) and duck entree (with a tiny dollop of sweet potatoes that was ruined with apple cider vinaigrette on it) and crab cakes appetizer. The manager was very gracious and was open to receiving our feedback on a lackluster meal and sad presentation since our last visit 6 months ago was mostly all wow! However, back in May 2025, we did also have the Salmon entree on our second dinner and it was disappointing too. It was a tiny portion and took over an hour to come out. I don't recommend the pastry sampler at breakfast, it was just normal everyday pastries you can get anywhere. There ice water tastes good. Love the cider! They have tiny jellies and jams on each table. They do not have stevia but truvia. The drink was underwhelming, and that is probably being kind. I don't recommend it. The food, however, was outstanding. Enjoyed a fantastic happy hour at The Park restaurant in the Lafayette Park Hotel. I've been coming here for years to enjoy a "ladies lunch" or a few cocktails at the bar. When Covid happened, things changed but I'm happy to say the food and atmosphere are back to old times! The happy hour is a great deal with some signature drinks and small bites. We enjoyed the cheese platter- 3 cheeses that change paired with quince paste, mustard, caper berries, and fruit. I wish we were told what cheeses were served but I'm guessing a Gouda, a Brie, and a sharp cheddar. All write excellent. The tempura green beans with mushrooms had a nice spice on them. The spring salad was soooo good! Full of parm, strawberries, nuts, and greens. Loved my espresso martini and not dirty martini. read more

Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience at The Park Bistro this last time. I was very disappointed in the preparation of the Filet mignon and how undercooked it was. I had asked for medium and was given a more rare preparation, and when I asked if I could have it a bit more well done, they had my wife and I wait an additional 45 minutes to get another piece of steak that was still on the medium rare side. I was even asked by the waitress to explain to her what I meant by medium instead of medium rare. My wife's chicken had unwelcome raw sprouts on it (not on the menu,) and then with the wait and a new piece of chicken, it was like hard rubber. The manager, Andre, was very empathetic with our dissatisfaction but I wasn't sure about about the kitchen and head chef when the waitress asked me to describe the difference between rare, medium rare and medium "more on the well side". I've always been pleased with both the food, cocktails and prices at the Bistro. Today was the exception. When we ordered burgers, I asked if I could have the onions grilled. The waiter affirmed my request. My husband asked if he could substitute swiss cheese for the cheddar and the waiter said yes. We both asked for medium rare. His burger came over cooked and mine was very rare. The biggest disappointment was when we got the bill. Had the waiter told us that grilling the onions would add $5.00 to our bill or that changing the cheese would cost an additional $2.00, we wouldn't have ordered the changes. $5.00 to grill an onion is ridiculous and $2.00 to substitute one cheese for another? There are plenty of other places in Lafayette to get a burger without the surprise charges to our bill. We'll be going elsewhere. read more

My wife and I stay at the Lafayette Hotel a few times a year for a staycation and every time we stay there we come to this restaurant for Brunch/Lunch. There are a few things I have to say about this restaurant so I am going to break it down: Food: 5/5 The food we've had has been delicious. I always get the Quiche. Once you get it once, you'll have a hard time not getting it every time! What I love about it, is the veggies they use for the filling changes based on the season. Then it comes out with a beautiful, puffy pastry enclosing it. It also comes with a very good side salad that includes pears and pomegranate. We also get a couple pots of tea and we love it! They also have several other options that include soups, sandwiches, entrees, etc. The price for the food is also pretty reasonable for a restaurant in this area. The Quiche in particular is an excellent value! Ambiance: 5/5 It has a very charming ambiance. There are 2 different parts to the restaurant. There is a bar and lounge seating area and a seating area that has views of one of the courtyards with a fountain. The bar and lounge area is darker and has a cozy vibe with a nice fireplace. The other seating area is light and bright and has tables and larger booths. The booths are very nice and intimate. Each one sits next to the charming, round, protruding windows. Giving a great view of the courtyard and fountain. Service: 3/5 All of the servers we have had have been very nice and welcoming. They have also made good recommendations. I would have given 5 stars to this category, but sometimes the service can be a little slow when waiting for a refill, a sauce, the bill, etc. We have been seated in a booth before and at times it seemed like we were forgotten. I rated it 3/5 because this has happened a couple of different times we have gone, even when it wasn't very busy. Fantastic! If I had to use one word to describe our dining experience, that would be it! The remodel looks incredible--the new colors, the entrance, and the stunning bar are all amazing. Excellent job on the updates! Now, onto the food--my goodness, everything was phenomenal! We had a group of six, so we tried a fair amount of menu items, and I must say, nothing disappointed us. From the delicious crab cakes to the pot roast in a lovely demi-glaze and the succulent pork chops, it was all absolutely delicious. What an incredible head chef they have at the bistro!! The service is unmatched compared to our past experiences in Lafayette. The team at the Bistro is truly incredible. Love the Bistro. This has been one of our favorite spots for a casual dinner around the outdoor fireplaces for years. Wait staff is friendly and always recognizes us and makes us feel at home. Bistro Burger is consistently great choice. Unfortunately we're told the new chef has made an "executive decision" to eliminate grilled onions for the menu of additions. We get it. I hate this. The Park Bistro has given us some truly delightful dining experiences. Last evening, yikes! What a disaster. I felt badly for everyone, from the service staff to the kitchen. I suspect the servers were stretched way too thin. The restaurant was fairly busy, but not packed. Still, way too slow with long waits. My husband's IPA took 30 minutes to arrive. The entire evening took way too long, but we're patient people. Once the food started coming out, it became clear that the kitchen was in over their heads. Calamari arrived sans tartar sauce, with the explanation that the kitchen ran out. Really? How about a heads-up on that? They did provide aioli when asked. When the entrees (finally) arrived, it was almost embarrassing. Hubby's roast chicken was supposed to be served with chanterelle mushrooms and kale. Neither of those ingredients were on the plate, just a soupy mess of undercooked faro (?) in unseasoned water. Ick. When we pointed this out to the server as feedback for the kitchen, he did go back to check. When he returned, he sheepishly informed us that the kitchen had been serving this dish the same way all evening. Really? And no one noticed, neither the kitchen staff nor the service staff? The roast chicken itself was quite good. But this mess should not have been served at all. If the chanterelle mushrooms were MIA, as we pointed out, then there was a "Side Dish" of sauteed mushrooms offered on the menu. How about bringing out a portion of those mushrooms in an attempt to salvage the advertised dish? Same for the MIA vegetable. Surely the Bistro can spare a few strands of broccolini offered as a "Side Dish". I am surprised that the Bistro staff let this slide. My bad for not thinking of this resolution in the moment. But then, neither did our server. I had been looking forward to a reprise of the roast duck that I enjoyed a few weeks ago. Alas, I was not spared the wrath of the kitchen. The brussels sprout slaw which was so delicious last time was a raw, vinegary disaster. Uncooked and doused in really acrid, unseasoned vinegar, how did this possibly pass muster? The earlier, delicious, balsamic sauce reduction tasted like plain balsamic vinegar splashed across the plate. Plating was also a mess, but if the flavor is good I can deal with it. Unfortunately, I struck out twice here. Even leaving was frought. We were given boxes and had to ask the busperson for a bag to carry without spilling. And yes, we always tip very generously. At least we could feel good about that. I will guardedly return, based on past positive experience. Perhaps choose a different night of the week, because the Park Bistro was running on fumes Monday evening. I know the Bistro can do much, much better. Perhaps management should refresh its oversight on staffing, food quality control, and have a tasting protocol in place? A little love from above can make a big difference in dining satisfaction.
