Last evening, one of my dearest friends treated me to dinner for my birthday. I began with a very cold, dirty martini, shaken and served up with three blue cheese-stuffed olives. It was absolutely perfect--the best dirty martini I've had in a very long time. For my starter, I chose the beet salad, which was fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. My entrée was the rack of lamb, perfectly cooked and served with grilled asparagus and glazed baby carrots. Every bite was outstanding. My friend ordered one of the evening specials--a haddock over a silky fava bean purée--and she couldn't stop talking about how delicious it was. I only regret that I forgot to take a photo. To make the evening even more memorable, the restaurant surprised me with a birthday dessert: a delicate lemon ice cream with an intensely flavored lemon center. We both finished off with a ricotta & pistachio cake, which had pistachio cream separated by sponge cake and their coppa 3 chocolates which are layers of dark, milk and white chocolate cream. I found most of the prices to be relatively reasonable considering they're all imported from Italy.
