I had just been discharged from the hospital after 3 years of heart failures, (on one occasion my heart had stopped for seven seconds). I was broke and in need of nourishment if I was to survive at all. I ran across "The Pawnbroker" in a gracious little shopping mall across Van Nuys Boulevard from the giant Walmart and Panorama Mall. I took in anything I had of value. First of all, they were kind to me! Secondly, they arranged loans on the items I brought in that where enough to to get me through. They have legal limits to what they can loan and I had no reason to bargain. They looked up my items on the internet and loaned me the maximum allowed. That was 5 years ago. I have since been receiving a small pension but it is far from enough to last the month. As a result, I have had to return monthly, and month by month, their friendly assistance, by way of loans on my items, have made them feel like friends and even family. I am no longer reluctant to need the services of a Pawnbroker. In fact, I look forward to my next visit with them. Miraculously, my recovrey has been slow but steady, and these days I am able to return to retrieve items one by one. I can honestly say their fair dealing has had as much to do with my recovery as anyone except the doctors. Even their security personnel are, reservedly, welcoming! As someone who has worked in customer service for many years I recognize and appreciate a representative who will go that extra mile for their customers. Generally pawn shops rate right up there with the DMV and Unemployment Office for terrible customer service. However The Pawnbroker in Panorama City is an exception. There is usually a gentleman sitting near the door that greets you when you come in and one of the friendly representatives is always ready to help you. They treat you like a customer, not like someone bailing out of jail. So first of all the area that the pawnshop in is super scary the front door doesn't work so you have to park in a parking lot and walk for about five minutes to get to the pawnshop which is also in a really scary area so then I get inside and I meet Mauricio nice guy works fast, but he asks me multiple times to do a review for him like multiple times. Ask me to scan a code then watches me scan it just doing too much. Then on top of that I pawn some gold and I know that it's worth $600 cause I looked up the value and how many ounces I had and what carrot I had.
