UPDATE TO MY REVIEW OVER 4 YEARS AGO...the only thing I can say is THE PAWZA is still an amazing, wonderful fabulous place!!! ALL of my babies, are my whole world. I learned how to actually groom my own dogs because I don't trust anyone to do it. I worked in veterinary medicine for over 20 years and in rescue/medical rescue, for over 12 years. Having spent that many years in rescue, here in Houston, I have a lot of experience with POS liars, cheaters, thieves, low life's, con artists, animal killers, animal abusers, animal hoarders, animal breeders, animal fighters..and just all out whack jobs. We are from the DFW area and recently moved to Katy. We have two little fur babies that are like our children. We are so thankful that our dog trainer recommended, "The Pawza." Ann is awesome!! She truly loves dogs and our little Ranger(14lb MaltiPoo) and Rylee (4lb YorkiePoo) LOVE going to stay with her when we go out of town. We walk in with their tails wagging! They are quick to jump on her covering her with kisses. Her place is beautiful and always so clean. They are not locked up in a small crate and left there fir hours. They have plenty of room in their suite to run around and play. Knowing they love going and that Ann is taking such good care of them makes it easier to leave them. Ann is a retired, Emergency Veterinarian nurse so we know if they get sick or need medical attention she will care for them ensuring they are given any medical attention needed We are so thankful for her and highly recommend The Pawza to anyone who truly loves their dog. This place is an amazing resort for your dog! After visiting a handful of places, this one was definitely the best option for our Great Dane puppy. It's clean, quiet, and truly unique! WARNING: this may be long, but it will be worth the reading when you see the professional management I have dealt with. I went to The Pawza for the first time with my two dogs. I do not mind spending a 3 night minimum if the dogs love the location and the customer service is good. I dont expect a company to be perfect, but I do expect to get normal customer service. My first experience was great, before we arrived. The lady on the phone was very nice. She knew it was my first time. She explained everything I needed. When I got to the Pawza, the lady asked why the food was not pre-portioned per meal feeding. I let her know I was not aware of this. She responded "its on our website". Okay, I will make sure of this next time. Well, I was willing to give it another try. I called to make a reservation for the two dogs. Then a couple of days later I found out I was not going to be able to go out of town anymore. I called today (Friday), to cancel the reservation for next Thursday. The lady explained hat the deposit was non-refundable. Funny, I had checked on the website to see what the policy was "Deposits are non refundable unless reservation canceled ninety six hours (four days) prior to scheduled check-in date." since I was told before to check the website for the policies and documents. Here was our email conversation to see how professional she was: Mine - Greetings, I just spoke to someone on the phone about cancelling (my dogs name here) for next Thursday- Sunday. Instead of getting a credit, I would actually like to receive a refund on my debit card. You may want to look into updating the website, so all owners are aware of your "policies". Last time I was there, it was our first time. The lady on the phone did not mention that we needed to pre-bag each feeding for the dogs. I was told when I got there that the policy was listed on the website. So, when I went to the website this time to check the refunded deposit requirements, I was told the website was "really old". I love the idea of my doggies staying at the Pawza, but my only two encounters have not been positive. At this point, I do not believe I should take my dogs to a place I have not had positive outcomes with the "policies". I work in the customer service industry and find this is to be very unreliable. Please confirm my card will be refunded. Thank you. The Pawza - I understand what is stated on the website. The website has not been updated in five years and we inform everyone of our cancellation policy when a deposit is taken. We can only issue a credit for your deposit. For this we apologize. Mine- I do not approve of this! Please show me a document, in which I have signed, that stated this policy. What is told over the phone would never constitute in a court room. What would, is anything in writing. If your business only refers to correct policies stated over the phone, not a very smart business decision. Please know that we really enjoyed the experience when we were actually there. Y'all asked if you could help to take my dogs to back to my car, and I believe my dogs enjoyed their time. I would hate to not come back. I am only asking for a refund as it states, in writing, on your website. I really feel you are trying to make a point out of a situation, in which, is not correct in writing(website). The Pawza- We tell everyone that our policies are listed and carefully expounded on our page. We have left no stone unturned regarding our regulations for stays and check ins. That is why we reference our pages since it would be impossible to tell you every policy in a single phone conversation. Since you are only one day late cancelling your reservation we would be happy to refund your deposit. Please call with your information. You may either pick up a cheque or have it mailed to you. Since you used a debit card for the deposit, we cannot refund back to the card unless it is a credit card. I am sorry you were not happy with our services and unfortunately I do not believe your dogs will find better treatment than they did with us but it is your decision to make, not mine. My only hope, moving forward, is that The Pawza "update" their website to include accurate information, if they wish to send people there to follow their policies. I have 5 dogs, 4 are rescues with 1 being a medical rescue. I am extremely careful in my due diligence before allowing anyone to care for my pets. The Pawza is the only place I will ever leave them. I've used Ann for 6 years for boarding. Three years ago we moved to Dallas, but still drive back down to The Pawza & board our our dogs. I have never met anyone with such knowledge, devotion & compassion towards animals as Ann. Her endless work in the rescue world just makes her that much more of a class act to me. Bailey, Louie, Angel, Sadie & Belle love the State Room & The Presidential Suite when we book. I think they get spoiled there more than at home! I highly recommend!! read more

You can tell they really love animals. They are the first place that I have been to that really knew who my dog was when I picked her up and told me how she did. The Pawza is by far the nicest place in the Houston area to board dogs period. Anne, the owner, goes above and beyond for all of the dogs in her care and takes the time to know what medications, foods and special needs your dog might have. I seriously wouldn't trust my dogs with anyone else! On top of that I learned that she helps rescue abused animals which just reinforces my thoughts on what a great person she is. read more

We left our miniature schnauzer 3 times already (2weeks in 2017) (2weeks summer 2018) another week August 2018, and planning to leave her again, plus my son is taking his dog too. I was so happy to see my dog, completely healthy, happy, no problem at all. A couple of years ago I left my dog in another place by Galleria, she came home sick, I had to take her to the Vet twice. I am very happy that we can go on vacation and we are sure that our baby is going to be fine when we come back. I just want to say "Thank you" for taking care of our baby". I've used The Pawza for several years now. We've always had pets with special considerations, from general breed specific issues to medical requirements. I can't say how much it means to leave your family members in the care of such knowledgeable, conscientious staff and not have to worry about anything. I called around looking to book a Friday-Sunday stay for my dog. I had some additional questions about their pricing as I was told their were be an "early drop off fee" that was equal to the stay for the night, and that I would be charged for Sunday evening even though we were picking up on Sunday. The woman's tone instantly changed and she became very defensive and rude that "that was their policy and we are not waiving it". When I told her I didn't really understand why an early drop off fee equaled a full night's stay and that I would call around she said "good" and hung up. Awful customer service. Made an appointment for a complete haircut for my dog including bath, conditioning, nails, etc. Got the dog back and hair had not been cut at all. Called and spoke to "Anne" and asked her what happened / if I could bring the dog back for the haircut. Her response was "First of all, I cannot remember the 100 conversations I have every week. Second of all, your wife just asked for a simple bath and clean up." She was extremely rude. Requested job not done, poor customer service. Anne still has my contact details. Took my dogs here twice the first time was great the lady at the front was so nice and friendly you could tell the staff loved animals as well. The second time upon arriving to pick up my dogs the lady whom I believe is also the owner told us that our one dog had passed out from pulling on the leash. Said it was because of the type of collar we were using. In order for this 85 pound dog to "pass out" the forced used behind the pulling would have had to have been extremely rough. She went into detail of him passing out his gum color purple and her pulling his tongue out and Then he woke up. Said we should looking into a harness and check his heart. Freaked out we left and took out dog in had X-rays and blood work of 500$ to determine there is absolutely nothing wrong with our 2 year old dog. The doctor told us they either used a lot of force behind the pull (he said he doubts it) or the story was false. Either way it made me feel uncomfortable to leave my dog here. read more

Anne has been amazing for our rescued 4. When we initially checked the Pawza out she sat on the floor of the lobby for almost an hour just letting my fearful pibble get warmed up to her and eat treats. She never rushed him or pushed it and by the end of it he was nuzzling up to her to get more treats. That's not like him at all- she even made time for us to do a half day boarding where she just let him get comfortable and warm up so he wouldn't be as fearful when he came with the others for their extended boarding. Fatboy was jumping around and playing as soon as he went to the patio. I could see him up and down on the bed and running with his tail wagging- it made me feel so much better about leaving town. Now my shepherds- one is dog fearful, One has extreme anxiety and she gets very worked up, while her "sister" becomes very defensive and panics. Anne was able to not only calm them big but she did it within SECONDS. Something about her that warned them up and they followed her with no hesitation. She even went out of her way to make sure they were kenneled near each other and made sure they were able to have supervised play time in separate yards in case they got worked up because they can be dog reactive. She took safety steps I didn't even think of. I can't begin to even explain how amazing she had been in the care of our dogs as words do not express how thankful we are to be able to get away without worrying! read more

This place is too expensive, and way too strict on pick up and drop off times. If you don't pick up your dog by 12- they'll charge you astronomical prices and surprise fees. Can''t drop off between 2-6? I hope you can wait until 2 the next day! The place looks nice- but for the price that I paid- I could have paid for 2 weeks at another kennel- not 4 days. I get stressed leaving my dogs behind when I have to go out of town or when I go on vacation. I KNOW that Anne and her team at The Pawza are going to give attention to each of my dogs when I leave them with her at The Pawza...and this allows me to enjoy time away or focus on what I need to when gone. Anne is extremely knowledgable regarding different breeds, behaviours, special needs- medically and emotionally. She has the animal intensive care background and is a huge animal advocate. I had previous rescues that were just puppies rescued from off of the streets that needed special care and attention and I had to go out of town for a week. I did not feel comfortable leaving them with anyone else. You will even get a report card on each pet regarding how they did during their stay.
