Jordan and Hailey make a great team! They love dogs and I felt very comfortable leaving my pup in their care. I like that the dogs are not thrown together for socializing but kept apart so there is no chance of dog aggression, etc. They can see each other and interact but that s all and that is perfect! Our dog caught kennel cough while being boarded for a weekend here. I am aware of the risks but my pet is fully vaccinated and I have learned the vaccine doesn't cover all germs that can cause kennel cough. That said, the lack of cleanliness and sanitation greatly increases the chance of illness. So I assume the back is more filthy than the office area. My dog also had strange swollen wounds on her paw and underbelly area. She seemed like a different dog when I picked her up. The first day she laid around doing nothing. The second day the cough kicked in. I will never recommend that place to anyone. I was referred by a person who said they help families in distress or in the shelter. I thought this was worth my business. NEVER again. read more

After coming home from the kennel (he was there about a week) my dog seemed scared when I tried to pet him, like he thought I was going to hit him. Also noticed he has a red rash around his neck as well as red eyes with discharge. Otherwise, he's clean, but not sure I would use this place again. read more

The groomers always take care of my three little dogs who always run to the entrance of the kennel when I let them out of the car- they seem to love the groomers, Jere and other staff. Wish I could give a negative stars!! Left our Sasha there for the weekend. Picked her up Monday am, she started puking and has diarrhea. Hasn't eaten since we picked her up. Barely drinks any water. Called Pecan Grove to see what they did to her or didn't do and "the kennel manager will call me at 4pm" So weak she cannot stand up. Taking her to the vet now. Cannot, will not recommend Pecan Grove Kennel or take her there again! read more

Note: Recently got a yelp account so I can finally review this place. I will say that I would like my dog coming home in the same condition that I dropped her off. That being said, my dog had only stayed here once and that was one time too many. During December 2013 my large dog stayed here for 6 nights. She was given a Cap Star to kill any fleas that "may be on her." I understood and agreed. I also paid for extra "play" time. When I picked my dog up, she smelled like urine and her usually beautiful and soft fur was now greasy to the touch from being soaked with pee. Funny because her little time sheet said that she enjoyed being outside and watching the horses. Um, I call bulls**t. I doubt they even took her out to use the bathroom since she was returned to me covered in pee. She should have been bathed out of courtesy because I d**n sure didn't drop her off like that! I really hope this place has changed but after reading other reviews... I doubt it. Do your pet a favor and find a better place to board. read more

Honestly doesn't seem like my dog was really taken care of while we had her stay a week ago. That said I noticed the day we picked her up she didn't seem like herself and the next 2 days she didn't do much at home. Made me very sad to say the least. It wasn't till a few days later that she started developing this cough that now I know is kennel cough. Which makes sense because the front isn't that clean so I can only imagine the back... This is ridiculous because you trust that your dog will be taken care of and instead you bring it back home with a damn infection which can be far worse for elderly dogs or puppies. A friend of mine took their dog there for a weekend and the kennel was so incompetent that their dog ran away! They still have been unable to find their dog. They take outstanding care of our dogs, and when three of our dogs passed away (at different times), they cared enough to send us condolence cards. I would not suggest this to anyone who cares about their dogs. For one, my dogs were extremely distressed when I had picked them up after being boarded for a couple days (even though I spent twenty dollars a day for extra play time that I am assuming they never got). I have never had that issue when I boarded them elsewhere. The real kicker is that when my dogs were given to me by one of the techs- the leashes and my dogs were both covered with diarrhea. Whether or not that was my dogs diarrhea is still a mystery to me to this day. I'm real glad that I paid $60 extra for grooming before they were returned to me. What I food appalling was that after I took my dogs outside (because they were covered in dog poop and I didn't want to get it all over the floor) I had to flag down someone to wash my dogs off. They apologized, washed off my dogs with just water, and returned my dogs to me. I was covered in poop, and when I put my dogs in the car, I noticed that their feet still had poop on it once I saw it ALL OVER MY BACK SEAT. After I got home, washed my dogs, washed myself, soaked their leashes, and did my best to deep clean my car, I decided to politely call the kennel and request a refund on at least the bath. The lady I spoke to said that she did and it will take a couple of days to show up in my account. I checked for weeks. It never showed up in my account. Considering how polite I was to them with the whole encounter, I was extremely disappointed in how I was treated in return. Needless to say, I have never brought my dogs back there. read more

I wish I could give less than one star. We used this kennel twice. Being new to the area and with a new puppy this place "looked" like a good choice. We showed up at an off hour and I believe the owner helped us when we got there. We were told she would be out to play in the large open grounds they have there. We took a tour and the place seemed to be packed with dogs. After a week of boarding we picked up our dog. She wasn't bathed as we had asked for and paid for. When we took her in initially we had taught our new puppy some simple obedience tricks. When we brought her home she had forgotten all of them. She seemed like a different dog all together. Shortly after we realized we knew a former employee of Pecan Grove. He advised us to never take our dog back there. He informed us that his job there was to spray the dogs waste out the kennels with a hose, with the dogs still in them. Our puppy is a larger breed/bird dog that generally likes water. She now is terrified of the hose in the yard and now I know why. We were also told that the dogs are kept in their kennels for the entirety of their stay, unless they have been paid for special training. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. We have used them quite a bit over the years both for my fur-babies and for my grandmother's fur-babies. My dogs only stay with the kennel for a week or so for various vacations and come back the way we dropped them off. However, my grandmother's dogs have had prolonged stays due to her health. The owner is very understanding of her health and keeps her informed (I know she has got to be annoying at times, calling just about every day but these are her loved ones). Her current dog is handicapped (three legs and tiny) and she gets time to run around the office where she can't get trampled by other dogs. We have been happy with the care of all of our animals there and how the owner and staff treats my grandmother and will continue to use them. read more

I took my dog here for boarding over Thanksgiving because my normal boarding hospital was booked. I didn't feel super comfort when I dropped her off because it didn't look like they were very organized. When I got the call that she was ready to be picked up they used the wrong name and never called back to correct the mistake. I went to pick her up after work hoping she was ready since I only knew that a "Daisy" was ready. They never informed me of how her stay went and when I walked her out I noticed she had diarrhea stains on her bottom. When we got home she threw up and had diarrhea every couple of hours. She is still having issues. I'm not sure what happened seeing as she gets boarded regularly and I bring her own food to make sure she doesn't get sick. This has never happened anywhere else I've boarded her and hopefully will never happen again. Never leaving her here again. read more

We brought our 2 dogs and cat there recently. Both our dogs are elderly. On the day we were returning (10th day at the kennel) we got a call early am asking us if our dog could be shaved because he had diarrhea. We said OK. We get there to pick up our precious dogs and cat and they had to carry the dog who had diarrhea (Sheltie) to the car. He couldn't keep his head up. He couldn't walk and was trying to vomit on the car ride home. He was shaved down to his skin, even his tail, with nick marks for being shaved too close to the skin. He lost over 5 lbs. We took him to the Vet where he was immediately started on an IV. We had to put him to sleep 3 days later (5/14/2021). What pains me is not knowing how long he was like this and why we weren't called sooner to ask if he could be brought to a Vet or hospital. He was at this kennel for 10 days. He obviously wasn't eating much because he lost a lot of weight. Why weren't we called before 10 days and how long was our poor dog suffering like this? We were told by the kennel owner that we brought him in like this. I can't imagine what our poor dog went through in those 10 days. I am so sad! read more

This is the second time I've boarded my dog at this place. Both times, when we arrived home, he immediately ran for his bowl of water & dry dog food and ate EVERY BIT. He is spoiled with moist dog meals and only eats his dry food when he is literally starving. He will not be staying here again. read more

We have brought both of our medium sized dogs here many times and never had an issue. Sometimes our one dog would come home imitating the barks of the other dogs instead of his normal bark, which was cute. They are very conscientious to make sure alldogs have had vaccines and kennel cough shot before boarding. They are very nice people and seem to care about animals pretty well. read more

PG Kennels was recommended by our Vet. Being new to the area, we went with the recommendation. We checked in our 2-year old male Siberian Husky for a total of three nights. We will not ever bring him here again. The staff was friendly at first, but seemed more concerned about up-selling their services. Flea treatment, playtime, grooming etc. Our Husky is a beautiful, well behaved pup with a great personality and temperament. When we picked him up on Sunday, he smelled horribly, was acting extremely sheepish, starving, thirsty, exhausted and had evidence of a wound on his mussel, and eyebrow, something he's never had! He also had an upset stomach, with severe diarrhea. When we called later to ask about what might have happened regarding the wound, and his behavior, the employee only asked had he ever been to a kennel before? And of course our Husky had, many times! And had never been treated so poorly! He then asked had he stayed in a kennel with a chain link fence? Because sometimes dogs not familiar to that type of fencing, scratch their faces when they are bored. Ridiculous! That tells me they do not take them out 5 times per day as promised and are being housed in a dirty, unfit kennel. I'm assuming that's why they try and sell you on the "Play Time". As a pet parent, we feel terrible about leaving our beautiful Husky with this place. We will not be back! Pet owners beware! read more

I've been bringing my toy poodle to get groomed by Linda for the past few years and she does a wonderful job! My senior dog is not the easiest to groom and Pecan Grove Kennels is very accommodating. At first, me and my family thought that this would be a good place for our dog and that he'd get to be around other dogs and he'd have a good time. However, after the second time that we took him there, we got him back seriously injured. His neck was deeply cut and they told us absolutely nothing about it. When we called them to see what had happened, they said that they didn't even know about the cut. We had to take him to the vet and it took several weeks until it healed. Our mistake was taking him back there again. Today we picked him up after only a week of being gone. However, that was a long enough time to hurt my dog yet again. His tail seemed shorter and at first we thought it was just because they cut his long hair, but no. The tip of his tail currently has a wound on it and when we called them, they said that "He was probably wagging his tail and it broke off" as if that was a reasonable or realistic thing to happen. Now, we have to take him to the vet on account of a mistake of somebody who wont admit to it. They never tell us when something is wrong, but instead expect us to find out on our own. We are never taking him back there again and we hope that none of you do too. Instead of risking the health of your dog, please take your pets to a much safer place other than the Pecan Grove Kennel. read more

This was the first time I boarded my dog, and I was already nervous to leave him there (also he had never been kennel trained). The staff wasn't very comforting, which bothered me, and I was leaving him there over the weekend, so it wasn't just an overnight trip. When I picked him up, he was incredibly thirsty. They never told me how he did- they just gave me a piece of paper and wrote a short sentence for each play time he got (he had 3). I'm sorry, but "he played and ran with the ponies" is pretty ridiculous. I want to know more about how he was behaving while he was there! They never told me if he barked, whined, if he ate much, slept, or any abnormal behaviors. They just handed me the leash and said here you go. When I got home, his poop was also incredibly dry, like he didn't have much water at all. Maybe I should have told them that he drinks a lot of water (he's a lab, so I would hope they would know this!!!). THAT bothered me the most though. Also, when I picked him up he smelled like rotten cheese (which I bathed him just a couple of day before I took him). Needless to say, I will not be boarding my dog here bet again. I was NOT impressed by this place one bit!!!! read more

I have used Pecan Grove at least 3 times over the past year and a half and every time, all seemed well. This last time was a mess. We went on a week long cruise and left Jam our 1.5 yr old Chocolate Labrador. Being at sea, you do not get the reception for phones so mine was off., When we arrived in Galveston after a week I get a voicemail that my dog had had an incident with his tail. The kennel owner described it as "happy tail". He said he had injured it in the dog run. Since we were away they could not reach us to perform surgery and save 5 inches of his tail. So our dog was in a dog cone and isolated for nearly a week with 5 inches of tail rotting. They asked if they could take him to Foster Creek Vet where Dr Moore was able to amputate the dead tail. The problem was when the Vet alerted me that this was not to be confused with "happy tail" His tail was broken somehow under the care of Pecan Grove Kennel. To top it all off, he comes home and a day later , his "kennel cough" started. This was from him being in too wet of an environment, not getting enough ventilation and water gets into his lungs. Well, needless to say they did not charge for his week long stay and the receptionist said that they would pay our Vet bills that totaled over $300. No money, no call, so here I am letting the world (or at least Ft Bend County) know to not use this kennel. This should not have happened to any dog. Stay away and let others know so they could prevent a situation like what we just went through. Nice guy, the owner, but nice doesn't always cut it! read more

When I dropped her off they didn't allow me back in the area with the dogs because they said it gave the dog more anxiety when leaving them. I didn't think to question what they told me as I assumed I was leaving her in good hands. Now I'm recentful for not insisting on touring the facility and looking around to see where my dog was goind to sleep. They should be investigated as I don't feel they are taking care of animals properly. I left my dog for 3 days in this kennel and was shocked in the conditions that she was returned. The dog was covered with tick bites, smelled awful, and half of her own food was returned which tells me she wasn't eating properly and they didn't even care to inform me. The day after I got her I noticed the dog was not behaving as usual. She had bumps all over her body, a fever, and her back leg hurt from the pain. She seem like she was in so much pain! She couldn't even sit comfortably! I took her to the vet & she was put in treatment immediately. She did have tick bites which means she was at risk of ending with a infection & disease. I will NEVER leave my dog here again! If you care about your animal, DO NOT LEAVE THEM HERE!!! You are taking a huge risk with their health as it's very likely they will come back with some kind of illness and possibly die from it. read more
